The second season of Daredevil has finally arrived, and the new episodes are packed with some of the most intense fight sequences ever staged for a superhero story. In Rolling Stone's exclusive video interview with series fight and stunt coordinator Philip J. Silvera, we go behind-the-scenes of Marvel's most brutal show.
A veteran of films like The Dark Knight Rises and Deadpool, Silvera is the guy who makes the martial-arts action scenes and hand-to-hand combat in Daredevil look as realistically bruising as it is does, and this never-before-seen rehearsal footage makes it clear that his job is almost as punishing as the fights themselves. "The prep is never easy," he says, smiling, "because we're doing a feature film every nine days." Illustrating that challenge with his personal set photos and pre-visualization video of the first season's famous hallway fight scene, Silvera shows us what makes these bone-crunching set pieces on this show so special. To see his work in action, check out the stairwell brawl in the Netflix show's new run of episodes, which Silvera promises "is like the one-shot fight [from Season One] on crack."
Season Two of Daredevil is now available to stream on Netflix.
