Veep returns to HBO with its fifth season on April 24th. In a new trailer for the Emmy-winning series, former Vice President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is attempting to "look presidential" following a tied election result.
The hilarious trailer finds President Meyer and her team searching for ways to help her retain the presidency. Previously, the "Veep" had taken over following the previous president's sudden resignation. In an effort to keep her title, Meyer does things like pose with the bronze medal-winning American kayak team, combat hackers and deal with an economic crisis that could turn the U.S. into Greece. "The country, not the musical," Vice President Tom James, portrayed by Hugh Laurie, explains.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus has won five Emmy Awards for her performance as Selina Meyer. After losing to Modern Family three years in a row, Veep won the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy last year. Tony Hale has also won two trophies for his role as Meyer's personal aide Gary Walsh.
