Tuesday's Maya & Marty, feature a sketch parody of FX coming up with a followup to their smash true crime series The People v O.J. Simpson. They pick "Gawker v. Hulk Hogan," the legal battle between the media company and former pro wrestler. The sketch finds WWE star John Cena competing with O.J. Simpson star David Schwimmer (Martin Short) for the Hogan role.
"The People v. O.J. Simpson was huge for us," says an FX executive (Maya Rudolph). "But I think Hulk Hogan v. Gawker is going to be even bigger. All we need is our Hulk." Cena, decked out in Hogan's trademark yellow and red, performs a series of flexes and "Yeah, brother!" impressions, but the network heads are more impressed by Schwimmer's Ross Geller-esque take on the wrestling icon.
The actors stage a surreal rehearsal featuring James Van Der Beek, Rosie Perez (Eva Longoria) and – proving the network can't enough of their previous hit – O.J. Simpson (Kenan Thompson).
