Jimmy Kimmel Live's "Lie Witness News" team returned to the streets of Los Angeles on Monday, after Mike Pence's theater outing to Broadway's Hamilton went viral when the cast addressed him directly onstage. Except, Kimmel's team asked passersby what they thought of Pence's "feud" with the actual Alexander Hamilton – the Founding Father who has been dead for 212 years.
Amazingly – and as always – people obliged to take a side on the Hamilton-Pence "duel." One man agreed heartily that Hamilton – who was born in the West Indies before emigrating to the United States — should show both his birth and death certificates to prove he's a citizen. Later, when asked if he would watch the duel on television, he chuckled, "Oh there's no doubt I will."
Later, two people gave passionate takes on how being from the 1700s affects Hamilton's position. One woman was incredulous that Hamilton would appear on CNN wearing a powdered wig. "I was like, 'I can't believe he would do something like that.' It was just one of those things that was so childish and hard to describe."
