Major changes are happening at Litchfield Prison and it's putting all the inmates to the test in Season Four of Orange Is the New Black. The first full-length trailer for the new season, which premieres on June 17th, shows off the Netflix series' knack for balancing humor with tragedy as the women re-adjust.
At the end of the last season, the prison was turning into a for-profit institution; the preview shows everyone adjusting to life with new inmates (including a Martha Stewart-like media mogul) and new guards who are intent on making life hell for everyone. Some of the women seem to be moving up — Taystee has a desk job as Mr. Caputo's secretary — while others are going lower and lower on the Litchfield food chain. And everyone seems to be even more volatile and angry at Piper.
Even between the tears and tension, the trailer is filled with uproariously dark jokes. After a new inmate asks Black Cindy if she "really wants to go there" in the midst of an altercation, Cindy responds, "I went there, bought a house, moved in, bitch. And now I'm remodeling the kitchen."
