In a twist, while the series revolves around a fictional Atlanta rapper named Paperboy, Glover – who raps under the moniker Childish Gambino – plays Paperboy's cousin in the series, with Glover in the role of the rapper's fledgling manager.
"If we do this right, your kids could live good. My kids could live good," Glover tells Paperboy, who's besieged by hangers-on after his career blows up virally but before the labels start calling. Atlanta, one of Rolling Stone's 25 Most Anticipated TV Shows of 2016, will follow as Glover's character navigates his cousin's career, as well as a unique look at life in the Georgia city.
The series also stars Keith Stanfield, who portrayed Snoop Dogg in Straight Outta Compton and actress Zazie Beetz. Like Atlanta's 15-second teasers, the preview is also soundtracked by Tame Impala's "New Person, Same Old Mistakes." Atlanta's 10-episode first season premieres on FX on September 6th.
