Netflix's second season of Daredevil has been released and as series fight and stunt coordinator Philip J. Silvera promised when he spoke with Rolling Stone, the new season is "like the one-shot fight [from Season One] on crack." As Uproxx reports, the second season features a similar, lengthy heart-pounding fight scene in its third episode.
The new scene differs from the approach of the three-minute continuous single shot fight from Season One, where the fight takes place in a hallway between Daredevil and a gang of mobsters. In the five-minute Season Two scene above, which features a hallway fight that impressively spills down several flights of stairs and into another hallway, there are times when the camera pans into the shadows, which allows an editor to splice together different long shots.
Silvera, who has also worked on The Dark Knight Rises and Deadpool, told Rolling Stone that his gig is almost as challenging as the fights themselves. "The prep is never easy," he said, "because we're doing a feature film every nine days."
Season Two also introduces two fan-favorite villains, Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, and Elektra Natchios, played by Elodie Yung. See exclusive behind-the-scenes fight footage and Rolling Stone's interview with Silvera.
