Earlier in February, Netflix released the first half of the trailer for the upcoming second season of Daredevil; today, they returned to finish the job. Whereas the earlier footage highlighted the carnage that comes to Hell's Kitchen when Frank "The Punisher" Castle blows into town, this new promo shifts its focus to the bad guys that the Marvel superhero (alias Matt Murdock) will have to contend with this year: the yakuza.
The aforementioned villainous vigilante — a popular comic-book character, played by The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal — is a bruising distraction for New York's favorite blind crime-fighting lawyer, but the Japanese crime syndicate might be the bigger threat. "The yakuza never left," warns volatile comic book vixen Elektra Natchios (Élodie Yung). "They just hibernated and watched you take out all of their enemies." As the action-packed trailer unspools, we see exactly what kind of danger the gangsters pose to Manhattan — anyone who's ever wanted to see a fleet of ninja scaling a downtown apartment building is in for a treat.
The footage also promises that Elektra will get to enjoy her share of the fun. "The battle is coming," she tells a hesitant Daredevil. "There's nothing we can do but fight." Fortunately for us, the rest of the trailer suggests that fighting is what she does best.
The second season of Daredevil premieres on Netflix on March 18th.
