Mr. Robot fans were left with one burning question after the Season One finale: What the hell happened to Elliot during the climactic fsociety hack? If this brooding Season Two trailer is any indication, there may be more than meets the eye to what's happening to our (anti)hero.. "All I remember is I woke up three days later," Elliot (Rami Malek) tells Mr. Robot, the enigmatic anarchist played by Christian Slater.
An eerie paranoia ripples through the clip, in classic Robot style, as Slater's character badgers Elliot about the hacker's fragile mental state – an "infinite loop of insanity." President Obama appears on a TV to address the fallout from fsociety's economy-shattering hack; meanwhile, Darlene (Carly Chaikin) emphasizes the importances of adhering to the group's mission: "People everywhere came to support us. And right now, they need to know we haven't given up, that we meant what we said about changing the world."
The trailer ends with a chilling tease, as Mr. Robot pulls a gun on Elliot and squeezes the trigger. Season Two premieres Wednesday, July 13th at 10 p.m. ET. All 10 new episodes of the Golden Globe-winning drama will be directed by series creator Sam Esmail.
