Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, co-stars and creators of Comedy Central's Broad City, just wanted to educate Stephen Colbert on how to be a hip Brooklynite during their Tuesday Late Show visit. Instead, the appearance morphed into a hellish, bad-acid nightmare populated by an evil Bagel King and his rainbow-colored minions.
In the clip, Glazer and Jacobson offer Colbert a sample of the latest Brooklyn food trend: rainbow-colored bagels. But his first bite transports the trio to a psychedelic land dubbed "Happy Bagel Place" – which turns out to be less happy than advertised. "We're the happy bagel babies of Happy Bagel Place / We love to sing and dance and put a smile on your face," sings a group of creepy rainbow bagel chorus. "We're happy bagel babies, and there's nothing wrong / There's nothing insidious about Happy Bagel Place."
And the song grows more disturbing: "We cannot read, and we cannot meet in groups / The Bagel King fears a bagel baby revolt / Slay the Bagel King, Stephen; slay the demon father / We will be your baby wives, and you will never die."
After the outraged Bagel King scarfs down of the babies, Colbert must summon his inner power – shooting laser beams out of his belly button – to defeat the creature.
Broad City Season Three premieres Wednesday, February 17th, at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central.
