Watch Bonnie Raitt's Bluesy INXS Cover on 'Kimmel'

Guitarist, band transform sparkling new wave classic "Need You Tonight" into ragged rocker

Bonnie Raitt performed her gritty, bluesy cover of INXS' new wave hit, "Need You Tonight" on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' Monday.

Bonnie Raitt turned INXS' "Need You Tonight" into a gritty blues tune on Jimmy Kimmel Live Monday.

Alongside her band, Raitt scuffed up the new wave sheen of the 1987 original with a swampy groove, while delivering a throaty vocal performance still smokey enough to be reminiscent of Michael Hutchence's sultry hush. Of course, Raitt also laced the song with a bevy of slide licks and traded solos with guitarist George Marinelli and keyboardist Mike Finnigan.

Raitt's cover of "Need You Tonight" appears on her latest album, Dig In Deep, which was released in February. The LP follows her 2012 effort Slipstream but marks her first with new material in over a decade.

Raitt and her band are on the road in support of Dig In Deep, and have an array of North American dates lined up through early November.
