Billy Eichner and the cast of This Is Us stormed the streets of New York City to confront flabbergasted fans about Mandy Moore's Emmy chances and the upcoming second season of the hit NBC drama. Along with Eichner, the segment featured Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley and Chrissy Metz.
The clip included several fans fumbling to name their favorite performers or parts of This Is Us, though it was unclear if their endearingly goofy responses were "Lie Witness News"-esque posturing or a natural reaction to Eichner's confrontational interviewing style. One of the few fans Eichner failed to rattle, however, was an incredibly droll New Yorker, who, when asked if he even enjoyed the show, replied, "Can't you tell?"
Elsewhere, Eichner slammed a New Yorker who asked Moore out on a date ("This Is Us and this is sexual harassment, if you ask me!") and later offered a woman the chance to objectify Ventimiglia (she respectfully declined). Eichner also used Moore's impressive transition from Nineties pop singer to breakout TV star as a chance to loudly pitch some new programs to unsuspecting strangers: "If Mandy Moore can have a primetime hit, I want a legal drama with India.Arie!"
The new Billy On the Street clip comes as the show begins its Emmy push, having just finished its fifth season in February. This Is Us will also likely be vying for several trophies after an acclaimed first season. The show returns to NBC this fall.
