A riot roils the halls of Litchfield Penitentiary in the nerve-wracking new trailer for Season Five of Orange Is the New Black. The show returns to Netflix June 9th.
The clip picks up where Season Four left off, with Litchfield inmate Daya (Dascha Polanco) pointing a gun at corrections officer Thomas Humphrey (Michael Torpey) while a horde of prisoners urge her to pull the trigger. Meanwhile, Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) and Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) are discussing their decision to renounce their troublemaking ways when they end up stumbling upon the stand-off. "Is this a real riot?" Piper asks. "If this is a real riot, do you think this is a step forward or backward for equality?"
While Alex is able to drag Piper away from the scene, the teaser closes with Daya still pointing the gun at Humphrey. The clip quickly fades – but a shot does ring out.
Per Variety, Season Five will will take place over the course of three days at Litchfield, chronicling the events after the (SPOILER ALERT) untimely death of Poussey (Samira Wiley).
