Watch Sugarhill Gang's Rapturous 'Rapper's Delight' on 'Conan'

Seminal hip-hop group helps host kick off week-long stand at Apollo Theater

The Sugarhill Gang delivered a thrilling performance of "Rapper's Delight" at the first show of Conan O'Brien's week-long stint at the Apollo.

Hip-hop heroes the Sugarhill Gang helped celebrate Conan O'Brien's return to New York City with a performance of "Rapper's Delight" on Conan Monday.

On the stage of the legendary Apollo Theater, original members Michael "Wonder Mike" Wright and Guy "Master Gee" O'Brien cruised through portions of their original verses with breathless ease (the group, reasonably, did not perform the full version of the song, with Wonder Mike unfortunately nixing the "Food just ain't no good" verse).

Meanwhile, new member Henry "Hen Dogg" Williams – in for late co-founder Henry "Big Bank Hank" Jackson – sauntered through the Apollo aisles and delivered Big Bank Hank's bars with a few cheeky tweaks, like, "You see I'm five-foot-nine, it's my time to shine, and I dress to a T/ Yeah, I got more clothes than Puff Daddy and I dress so viciously."

Conan will spend the rest of the week at the Apollo with guests Louis C.K., Ryan Reynolds, Tracy Morgan and more.
