Sarah Silverman, Samantha Bee and Broad City's Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer lead the line-up for the first-ever Golden Probe Awards, a satirical ceremony recognizing "outstanding achievements in the fields of sexism and anti-abortion extremism" in politics, media and other industries. The event, presented by nonprofit organization Lady Parts Justice (LPJ), will be held October 2nd before a live audience at New York City's (le) Poisson Rouge and streamed via the LPJ website.
The Golden Probes will parody typical awards show tropes, including musical performances, dance sequences and tribute pieces. The event, a fundraiser for Lady Parts Justice, is designed to raise voter awareness about politicians and policymakers stances on reproductive health care prior to the November elections.
Wendy Davis, The Daily Show's Jessica Williams, Matt McGorry, Lea Delaria, Sasheer Zamata, Phoebe Robinson and Lizz Winstead will also appear at the ceremony. Hip-hop artist/comedian Jean Grae will host.
Jacobson and Glazer presented the Golden Probes categories in a video teaser. Specific nominees will be withheld until the broadcast since "each day, a new performance of epic douchebaggery emerges."
The categories are "Best Acting Like You Care About Women in a Non-Supportive Role," "Best Original Science," "Best Adaptation of Reality in an Elected or Non-Elected Role," "Outstanding Performance in an Unscripted Outburst," "Best Newcomer and/or Breakthrough Performance," "Outstanding Writing Using Sharpie, Hobby Lobby Supplies and/or Microsoft Paint," "Outstanding Underachievement By a Legislator in a Leading Role" and "Legislature of the Year."
