Three months after Lin-Manuel Miranda left his Broadway smash Hamilton, the Tony-winning star will return to the live stage as host of the October 8th episode of Saturday Night Live. Also making their SNL debut that week are alternative rock band Twenty One Pilots, who will serve as musical guest for the episode.

"I ... have a bit of a week next week," Miranda tweeted after SNL announced he would host. "My favorite SNL episode: Fred Savage, musical guest Technotronic. Couldn't believe a kid my age was on SNL. And SO GOOD. 1990." Although Miranda left the title role of Alexander Hamilton in his groundbreaking musical, it's likely he'll return to the role for the inevitable Hamilton parody SNL writers create.

The 42nd season of SNL kicks off October 1st with Margot Robbie as host and the Weeknd as musical guest. The eighth Greatest TV Show of All Time also recently announced a trio of new cast additions – Mikey Day, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor – following the exit of featured players Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah.
