47. The Doorman

Best-known episode: "The Doorman"
Jerry gets terrorized by a hostile doorman when Elaine house-sits for her boss, Mr. Pitt. The doorman in this posh building takes an instant dislike to Jerry: "What are you, the boyfriend? Here for a quickie?" In real life, actor and comedian Larry Miller was one of Jerry Seinfeld's closest friends, which probably explains why their rapport is so profoundly creepy. Miller also had a classic scene in Best In Show, as the hostage negotiatior Max Berman. ("They always jump!") ROB SHEFFIELD
