Arcade Fire perform at
Lollapalooza on July 24, 2005 in Chicago.
Farrell gathered a stellar lineup of acts (Morrissey, PJ Harvey,
Sonic Youth, etc.), but ticket sales were slow, and the tour was
cancelled before the first date in July 2004. It was brought back
the next year, but the road trip was over. Beginning in 2005,
Lollapalooza became a two-day event on six stages in Chicago's
Grant Park, expanded to three days the following year. Its current
deal with the city will keep the festival in Chicago through 2018.
