Artist: Pernice Brothers
Album: Live A Little
Review: For more than five years now, the pretty damn reliable Joe Pernice has hidden his melancholia in country-tinged pop rock. Pernice Brothers' follow-up to 2005's Discover a Lovelier You is another lovely little package, tossing in modest horns-and-strings accompaniment and mellow sweetness on songs like "Microscopic View" and "Grudge F*** (2006)," a track that's way more plaintive than angry.

Artist: Pernice Brothers
Album: Discover A Lovelier You
Review: On his band's fifth and prettiest album, Joe Pernice of the Pernice Brothers mixes up country
pop and twee Sixties-schooled rock (such as the gorgeous Zombies update "Pisshole in the
Snow") with the nonchalance of a veteran tunesmith who has learned to turn bad breakups
into golden-hued abstractions. If the songs go down too easy, that's part of the deal -- monster
hooks or guitar ...

Artist: Pernice Brothers
Album: Yours, Mine And Ours
Review: Singer-songwriter Joe Pernice knows how to write a unique, evocative lyric: Offering himself to a lover, he's "as willing as the sand." To the one who left him behind, he asks, "Did you have to be as typical as a tragedy?" Yours, Mine and Ours, his ensemble's third album, doesn't quite have the ragged charm or the wry humor of 2001's outstanding The World Won't End; the occasional dose of guitar...
