Tenacious D began in earnest as an HBO series produced by comic David Cross, and in 2001 — the year Jack Black and Kyle Gass graced the pages of Rolling Stone — their self-titled debut album came out, boasting cameos by Dave Grohl and Page McConnell. The duo continued to make music as Black's Hollywood star continued to rise, and this year they'll headline San Francisco's Outside Lands festival.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass of Tenacious D delivered an appropriately bawdy and joyous "Squeeze Box," accompanied by a suggestive black-and-white cartoon. Black announced, "It's an honor to honor what I consider to be the greatest rock & roll band."
