A new documentary, “Rolling Stone: Voice of Our Generation,” is hitting PBS this month; it’s hosted by Paul Shaffer and features interview footage with RS founder and editor Jann S. Wenner, along with clips of many of the artists who’ve made the cover over the years. Check out this snippet, featuring the Police, Bruce Springsteen and U2. “Voice of Our Generation” airs tomorrow on WLIW (channel 21) in New York and nationwide next week.

The latest bold-faced-name musician rumored to appear on The Simpsons is none other than Madonna. While we’re not holding our breath for the notoriously choosy Material Mom to actually eat anyone’s shorts, the notion brings back fond memories of our favorite appearances by rockers on the legendary show (remember the White Stripes’ underwhelming cameo?) Larry King Calls Ringo “George” On Live TV

Yesterday we mentioned we were worried how Larry King would fare interviewing Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. We accurately guessed that King would ask insanely banal questions like “Do you ever pinch yourself?” (the question he actually asked was “Do you guys, frankly, pinch yourselves?”). We did not figure that the man would forget the name of a Beatle.

After asking Paul where he was when he found out John Lennon had been killed, Larry posed the same question to Ringo, but called him George. Paul then called King out on the mistake, King made an excuse and Ringo attempted to move on. Hilarious. What do you expect from a network that bumped Michael Moore for Paris Hilton? Richard Ashcroft, John Mayer: Live at Abbey Road

Worth a look: Tonight the Sundance Channel will premiere the US version of Live From Abbey Road, a weekly show of live performances at the legendary studio. Future episodes will feature acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley and The Killers; tonight’s has John Mayer, Richard Ashcroft (of The Verve), and Norah Jones.
