She has to put on a play so that people can be entertained because the music alone can’t keep people there. I think everyone should be able to make their own music even if people don’t like it. @AT – She chooses to create a visual along with her songs to give the full experience as a performance artist (Try taking a music class and you’ll learn about that). Pop music is structurally simplistic but requires much thought to gain mass appeal, which is not necessary for most other genres. She happens to be a very talented artist and accomplished musician but she knows what sells. She is also very capable of delivering onstage. You should reevaluate the themes presented in the songs and in the visuals; they’re obviously presented. Become educated on a topic before you start criticizing others about it. You have to give her credit for TRYING when most new artists in the past 5 years have been a wash of forgettable, market-baiting blandness. Is there any wonder many of the popular musicians of today were the popular musicians of the late 90s?

True, her pop tunes makes Britney and Beyonce sound ‘alternative’, but her ‘image’ and her gimmicks are clever and give lots of middle American teens the thrill of the New York underground or the more progressive European dance-pop scene. It’s like CalArts gave birth to a popstar who was then given all the best pop music Sweden has to offer.

Up until now it was pretty mind-numbing…but this video hints that she may be capable of trancending her gimmick and giving us something with substance (say what you will, but the average Britney song has more coherent lyrical content than Gaga…and boy, that’s saying something) that will validate all this hype.

There is so much hate for Lady GaGa out there, people just don’t see what she is doing to the industry: redefining it completely.

She takes everything to the limits, pushing all the boundaries of what is the norm, giving viewers something fresh to look at. You can hate her all you want, but you cannot say that she doesn’t have any flair, her videos are far from boring – they are fun and filled with alternate readings.

What bothers me are the number of ad hominem attacks that dismiss her by calling her a whore. What is this, a baptist convention? I wonder when the last time you ever heard anyone say, fuck Robert Plant, he’s a whore. i beg to disagree that lady gaga is a lost soul, but she is an aggressive soul. she loves to explore unto different things and see what it can give her as well as what it can give to the public..

She may not please everyone with what’s on her showcase but i really think that she give the world of fashion and music of something where both can complement each other..

It blew me away. The song is great. Her slithering up to him on all fours with that body of hers is utterly sexy. It’s a home run for me. What a talent!

i watched the video a 100 times now and i still cant breathe. this is more than just another pop video of this era. it’s pure art. i’m so happy to see this… it really combines almost everything that meant something to popular culture: kubrick, bowie, rammstein, madonna, fritz lang, m. jackson, queen, warhol, hicthcock, james bond… i could go on for hours!

Gaga is all smoke and mirrors. It is very different to have talent. Doing weird things isn’t construed as talent! As a person who has played piano for over 13 years, at the AMA’s she made the mistake to taking her hand off the keys at the time when cords were played that require both hands hitting the keys firmly. Then, her fingers were positioned for cords when single notes were actually being played. It is sad to see that today, the lack of true musical talent, judged by folk who have no musical training has allowed folk to consider trickery as talent!!!! Too bad it is easy to part people with their money for crap that will never be historical. Talented people are overlooked, when it is cheaper and easier to sell buffoonery at a lower price, allowing the music executives to make higher profits, in lieu of paying talented entertainers who have the potential for sustain a 20+ year career, instead of a 20month one.

As Jay Z sang, “death to auto-tune” and the AMA’s presented more auto-tuners and synthesized voices than real talent. Whitney Houston, Mary J., Kelly Clarkson, Kerry Underwood and Adam Lambert were the only “singers” on the show!!!!!!

I have no idea who bought all this Taylor Swift music when I can’t even understand what it is she is saying with her non-melodical mousey voice.

okay people lets all see you show some skin and get on stage and perform with some techno music and see how far you get. Lady gaga even has a hideous nose – but that isn’t stopping her. So if she isn’t talented then why cant any other brown haired chick bleach her hair blonde, wear skimmpy little fashion outfits, dance around on stage, and not get famous? There’s obviously something there she has that no-one else has, and if you can’t realize that and accept it then you – yourself – are immature and oblivious to music. All you guys claim to know music so well, but a true lover of music looks at all genres and accepts everything. It may not be there taste, but instead out of hatred for another artist, they just simply agree in defeat. Some people are better than others at singing, performing, marketing, etc. Lady gaga has all of these and puts a very unique twist that world HAS NOT SEEN YET, this is why she SELLS. She is a inspiration for young kids to be themselves, with the outrageous outfits she wears, and inspires NEW musicians to come to play music AS THEY WANT, not what a record label wants.

Step away from your ego and look at things from a different perspective, admit in defeat. Yes lady gaga has accomplished what most musicians have done in 10 years cause she had so many hits on one album. Her new album has not even come out yet and there’s already one hit! So obliviously she’s not going to produce what she thinks is crap music on her newest to come album. Come on now, don’t play with fire if you cant take being burned.

Another thing i have to add everyone is saying “she trys too hard”. If you look at her outfits before she got famous – there outrageous too. Maybe she isn’t trying hard, she’s just dressing the way she likes, and now she has more money to afford the bigger better more outrageous dresses. All in a concept to be herself – So what is she trying so hard to be? I think your all delusional, perhaps she just likes to be a whore and dress up like that. People have different tastes than each other, what you may not like to do someone else might. Does not mean they are trying HARD to be what they aren’t. Lady gaga’s always been weird – does not seem like shes trying hard to be anything to me.

everyones so butthurt over lady gaga, shes successful instead of pitying it be proud of her. Everyone wants to be successful in life, get over how sucky your life is and stop dreading on others who actually succeed
