  • Robert Plant is in talks to perform at Glastonbury. “There’s place for me there, but I have no idea who with,” he told the BBC, thereby igniting the hopes of millions of Led Zeppelin fans itching for another reunion show.

  • Jay-Z, the man who bragged he “made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can” will perform that very song, “Empire State of Mind,” with Alicia Keys at tomorrow night’s Game One of the World Series between the Yankees and the Phillies.
  • Tomorrow Live Nation is hosting a promotion where fans can attend special meet-and-greets with bands including Anvil, Mastodon, Taking Back Sunday and the Used at the clubs they’ll be playing in cities including Boston, Denver, Atlanta and Indianapolis. More info at Live Nation’s site.
  • Eric Clapton has been forced to withdraw from Friday’s historic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden because he requires surgery to remove gallstones, Reuters reports.

Robert Plant - Shut up! | 10/27/2009, 8:43 am EST

Plant is such a jerk. He does not want to tour with Led Zep, yet he has always teased the audience with ambigous statements over the years (like this one). I think he gets a charge out of teasing us.

AND DON’T BUY HIS SOLO RECORDS. If he won’t be nice enough to do one Zep tour, then skip his concerts (boring solo now anyways) and leave his CD’s in the bins!

Bman | 10/27/2009, 8:49 am EST

Get over it folks! Led Zeppelin is not getting back together! I love Zep but I don’t really want to see them try to get back together.

Sadine | 10/27/2009, 9:10 am EST

Some people are really strange. Hello? Robert Plant didn’t say ONE word about Led Zeppelin, it’s the media playing the trick. Yeah, spread the rumors, and blame Plant for they not coming true. *rolls eyes*

DannyBoy | 10/27/2009, 9:14 am EST

Wow, more rumours of a Zep reunion? everytime i gets always not true yet everytime i get myself so worked up and excited…i really hope they do. im in Maryland and would take the drive to CT in a heartbeat to see this…even plant WITHOUT kauss so he would do some good zep material i would check out…and mabe plant and page would be cool also… but LED ZEPPELIN would be the GREATEST

Oddjob | 10/27/2009, 9:22 am EST

Did Jay-Z really say that? Man, there’s a guy who needs to get out of his bubble. What could possibly make him think a thing like that?

KM | 10/27/2009, 9:43 am EST

PUT ON “ZEPP II”, 8 ON THE VOLUME KNOB AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE
PEOPLE :)

Anonymous | 10/27/2009, 10:27 am EST

Look… I agree that his comments here don’t indicate anything about LZ so he isn’t to blame for spreading rumors. Robert Plant knows he can do a Zep reunion show ANYTIME he wants so why would he stop his current act when he just won a grammy, for something he can do anytime he feels like it (ie Zep tour). Don’t give up folks, let him do his thing. And also, I love Zep, but he doesn’t owe me or you or anyone a fucking thing…. they already gave us the MUSIC.

RTunes | 10/27/2009, 11:08 am EST

“There’s place for me there, but I have no idea who with”…

…isn’t it possible that he was simply wondering who else will be playing at Glasto?

tony montana | 10/27/2009, 11:42 am EST

man if can’t tell that plant is so way past his prime then you’re not
listening.
this guy is fuckin’ fried up and he even looks like a stewed PRUNE!
a great legacy he has left but put zep to sleep.
bonzo should have nailed that coffin shut.
plant knows it too that it’s too much for him to handle.
now paul rodgers who’sabout the same age can still belt it out and in the same key.
plus he doesn’t look like POOP!
STILL have major love for zep but it’s over.

Sadine | 10/27/2009, 12:36 pm EST

Robert Plant is the one against a Zeppelin reunion. Jimmy Page and JPJ were up to tour as Zeppelin last year if you don’t remember. *rolls eyes again*

To the PRUNE comment. You don’t need to like a musician, but you only make yourself look like a idiot by insulting him.

brian | 10/27/2009, 1:57 pm EST

john paul jones gets something awesome going on w/ josh homme and dave grouhl (lets not forget he was excluded from the page/ plant albums because they didn’t want to split the money w/ him) and all of the sudden here comes dick wad robert being all coy about another reunion show. total toolbag.

peasant pete | 10/27/2009, 3:26 pm EST

re: jay-z made the yankee hat more famous than a yankee ever could…….

shut the fuck up jay. the gap between your perceived and actual relevance is staggering.

Sadine | 10/27/2009, 4:04 pm EST

Again, he didn’t mention a Zeppelin reunion AT ALL.

Black Hole Sun | 10/27/2009, 5:07 pm EST

Why are people beating up on Robert Plant? Believe, I’d LOVE a Led Zep reunion tour with Bonzo’s son at the drums just as much as the next person, but one shouldn’t take his comments to mean there will be a reunion. He didn’t say ANYTHING about a reunion of any sort. And he’s not a selfish dick for not wanting one. He probably feels that it could never be true reunion without Bonzo. He probably feels that due to his age, he can’t put on a show as good as he could when he was young, although I would personally beg to differ if that is the case. Whatever the reason is, you can’t expect him to agree to a reunion and go through the rigors of going out on tour when his heart is not in it. At least respect the fact that money isn’t an incentive for him to do something. And to the guy that mentioned Robert looking like a prune, he may have been a sex symbol in his prime, but that was NOT the reason behind Led Zep’s success. We have plenty of bands nowadays filled with pretty boys who can’t sing or play an instrument for shit, I’d rather take a “stewed prune” who could outperform those 20-year-old pathetic excuses for musicians ANY DAY.

John | 10/28/2009, 10:15 am EST

Jay-Z is just another Kanye West.Overrated hip hop rappin PUNK.

jazzy doyenne | 10/28/2009, 4:29 pm EST

Hey LZ Kids…
Reckon you’ll look any better at 61 than Robert?
Hah. You should live so long, you’ll pardon the expression.
Aging naturally takes guts in the current media frenzied youth-culture. Robert deserves our admiration for a life well and fully lived and for eleven solo albums of unabashed originality. Let him continue to thrive without your petty criticism.

Plant is no jerk, he is the real deal, constantly searching and developing, evolving, not nostalgia, ever, if he does Zep it will be because he feels it, if it don’t give him goosebumps, he don’t expect you to have them either. He always out there in memphis, Nashville, Mississippi, the real deal, an icon.

Kim Gee | 10/30/2009, 9:43 am EST

Who cares? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oven Mitt | 10/30/2009, 1:07 pm EST

Robert Plant hasn’t done anything relevant since FON. The Alison Krauss project was a ego-fame indulgence geared for uncreative, insipid volvo driving-starbucks drinking elitists who have no musical depth and think they have it made. This guy sucks and shoud do us all a friggin favor and retire with his 20 year old muse. Spare me!
