Them Crooked Vultures’ Self-Titled Album Out November 17th

10/22/09, 5:27 pm EST

The burning question that’s lingered since Them Crooked Vultures made their live debut August 9th at Chicago’s Metro has finally been answered: Rock’s newest supergroup announced today that they’ll released their self-produced and self-titled album on November 17th, a week and three months after the band of Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones first appeared onstage together.

Supergroups: A Retrospective, From Cream to Crooked Vultures.

After debuting in Chicago, the Vultures went a tour of European venues and festivals before returning to the states for a run of dates that concluded October 15th at New York’s Roseland Ballroom (read our review of the show here). The 13 songs that featured in the band’s live performances will appear in all their studio glory on Them Crooked Vultures, including opening track “No One Loves Me & Neither Do I.” The band is rumored to be releasing their official first single “New Fang” to radio October 26th, Blabbermouth reports.

The Vultures will embark on a brief tour of Germany in early December, then continue on to the U.K. for seven shows in eight nights. From there, they flock Down Under for six shows in Australia and New Zealand. Them Crooked Vultures promise to announce more dates following the album’s release.

I wish I could fall asleep until then. I want to hear the studio version of Nobody Loves You so fucking bad. That song even got the stuffy DC crowd moving.

Just as I was started to come down from that Columbus show…this made my night. Thanks, RS!

“Warsaw or The First Breath You Take After You Give Up”

The First Breath You Take After You Give Up was the original title for Turnin On The Screw

i want to be excited, but their show in NY was just disjointed and loud. i appreciate the loud and all of them individually, but together it just didn’t flow.

PK | 10/23/2009, 10:04 am EST

Absolutely can’t wait.

Tom Thumb | 10/23/2009, 10:09 am EST

OMG!!! Josh Homme must feel like the luckiest dude on the planet! This is gonna be EPIC!

matt in farmers branch | 10/23/2009, 4:15 pm EST

Should be great. They were awesome live. Been a while since a good rock album came out…

Brett | 10/23/2009, 5:44 pm EST

I don’t get the appeal of Josh Homme…he’s written one or two good songs, but I definitely wouldn’t rank him among rock’s elite, like DG and JPJ.

mjr | 10/24/2009, 12:09 am EST

I cannot WAIT!!!!

faustushood | 10/24/2009, 1:24 am EST

re: Brett

Please, QOTSA blows the Foo Fighters out of the water, so does Kyuss for that matter…(I will admit he’s not the drummer Grohl is lol)
J. Homme is definitely among the elite

GrandWazoo | 10/24/2009, 5:39 am EST

Totally Bitchin! Dave Grohl beats the HELL out of his drums!

Rob F Nova Scotia | 10/24/2009, 9:39 am EST

Finally a supergroup that has credentials and is worthy of the title. Can’t wait to hear the album….gonna be amazing.

Greg | 10/24/2009, 9:58 am EST

Really looking forward to this one.

My only concern is that I saw them live at the Toronto gig and I’m hoping the studio versions aren’t a letdown, as nothing beats the live environment.

Svenny | 10/24/2009, 11:03 am EST

Dude von dudenstein (aka Brett) Homme is Them Crooked Vultures…don’t get me wrong, Grohl and JPJ rock out with their cocks out too, but the whole TCV experience is like QOTSA+Kyuss after drinking 12 bottles of POWERTHIRST. It’s dark and twisted and sexy and everything you should want out of rock and roll….to quote J-Ho himself, “Rock should be heavy enough for the boys and sweet enough for the girls. That way everyone’s happy and it’s more of a party.”

Anonymous | 10/25/2009, 12:58 am EST

Saw them in Austin and if the album is 1/2 as good as the live show, it will be one of the top 5 albums of 2009!

JT | 10/25/2009, 1:13 pm EST

Being as there are no other real great records to look forward to, I thought the rest of the year would suck. Now that this album is slated for release, my mind has changed.

Michael | 10/26/2009, 11:13 am EST

Whoever anonymous was down bellow who trashed the NYC show either was too drunk to have a valid opinion or isn’t used to a concert environment. I have seen Them Crooked Vultures twice, the first time was the debut show at the metro, second was in Columbus, Ohio at the LC. Both times were mind blowing. I could probably skip getting the CD, but I won’t because it will be interesting to see if the studio takes are the same as the live ones. Only other thing to comment on, Warsaw, greatest song I’ve ever seen live, both times.

mike | 10/26/2009, 11:25 am EST

finally some real music!

komunal | 10/27/2009, 6:44 am EST

tasha L | 10/30/2009, 2:07 pm EST

shhwee knoe

staden | 10/31/2009, 1:08 pm EST

josh homme has his hands in everything, not to mention killer vocals.

denzepp58 | 10/31/2009, 8:55 pm EST

These 3 guys have more talent in their pinkies than all the Nickelbacks, kings of leons, the killers, and any other new band rs has had on their cover in the last 2 years…all we need is Pagey and his adopted son Jack White in this band…as long as we have young guys like Homme,Grohl, White and bands like the Black Keys and the Secret Machines rock and roll will never die..after all,it has lasted in one form or another for almost 60 years and I am lucky enough to have been around for 51 of them,,,,Peace….

drewb09 | 11/4/2009, 10:24 am EST

OMG Cant wait for the album it is gunna be amazing, luv led zep, foos and qotsa, and denzepp58 jack white aint the adopted son of jimmy page! wtf man
