Madonna Speaks: The Queen of Pop in Her Own Words

10/19/09, 4:21 pm EST

Madonna looks back at her epic three-decade career in Rolling Stone’s new issue, on stands now. We’ve relived 50 of her Madgesty’s most iconic moments — from declaring her plans for world domination on American Bandstand in 1984 to inspecting Britney Spears’ tonsils at the 2003 VMAs — and looked back at photos from her record-shattering Sticky & Sweet Tour, and now we’re happy to present exclusive outtakes from her candid interview.

In a Q&A that didn’t make our issue, the Queen of Pop opens up about her relationships with Britney Spears and Michael Jackson, some of her most scandalous moments (naked in Penthouse, the “Like a Prayer” video flap), how she discovers new music, and what she’d like her legacy to be.

She is so candid in this part, wow!! Wish this part was also published. Always adored her, forever will. RS thanks for a great issue. Kudos from Dubai!

Why wasn’t this part published? Love her responses to some of these questions and she talks more about her music which is what seems to be forgotten today as the media focus on Madonna the person instead of Madonna the great artist.

Why all the wild accusations and public scrutiny destroyed MJ but not Madonna?

Because she’s a white woman and people let her go, but they’ll never leave MJ the black man alone!

She did most of her work in music on her back. I’m not saying thats a bad thing.

Madonna abandoned her POP roots years ago…. She doesn’t deserve the title Queen Of POP.

Also shes more a stage act than a singer. Madonna you need to do everyone a favor and retire for Gods sake.

I cried when I read the out-takes.
In today’s screwed-up society, Madonna remains a brilliant
Ray of Light. In one ballad, she will Live to Tell her
tragic yet hopeful life BECAUSE SHE WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO SING AND DANCE AGAIN. After the neglect and abuse she suffered from
Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie, Madge is her own woman now-little did she know that she was pushed over
the Borderline-she is mad as hell
and can’t and won’t take it anymore! Her Music calls out to me
Like a Prayer because even she needs a Holiday from strife. I am
Hung Up on Madonna because her songs are beautiful prayers of acceptance. Many years from now, we all will remember her songs because my life was radically altered and changed by a heartland rocker who dared to Open Her Heart
to a world that needed happiness and joy when it needed it most.
In the end, Madonna Took Her Bow so we all can still get
Into the Groove and Rejoice at her Art. Lady Madonna, thanks for being honest. Because of clean living and singable melodies, you will never be forgotten!

To comment on the Mj Comment Above. You say Madonna can get away with a lot of things because shes a white woman, and that Mj could not, because he was a black man? Please, Michael turned out to be a White Woman! (And i didnt care, i am and always will be a fan of his) Dj
