Guns n’ Roses Bringing “Chinese Democracy” Tour to Canada

10/19/09, 12:26 pm EST

Guns n’ Roses have revealed plans to bring Chinese Democracy to North America… with a tour of Canada. Last week, various Canadian Websites including GEG.ca teased a huge announcement concerning Gn’R touring the Great White North. Today, a 13-date Canadian trek that starts January 13th in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and stretches across our neighbor to the North until February 4th in Halifax, Nova Scotia, was posted on Brave Words. Rolling Stone has received an official press release that proclaims the dates are part of “Guns n’ Roses Chinese Democracy World Tour” and can now confirm the dates are official.

Look back at classic shots of Gn’R, onstage and off.

Some of the dates are posted on Live Nation’s Website and others appear on Ticketmaster.ca’s site. The earliest presale begins October 21st. General admission floor seats and reserved seats in the stands are available; prices range from $49.50 to $89.50 Canadian before service charges.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, Rose and company appear to be plotting a tour of Southeast Asia starting December 11th in Taiwan. According to Brave Words, more dates for the Gn’R world tour are expected, and the band is set to begin rehearsing in Los Angeles soon.

Axl Rose is now merely the middle-aged mouthpiece for a bunch of pros doing what pros do when on six-figure retainers. The band is a bloated octet of soulless virtuosos, a mess – a reconstructed, revolving door that basically serves as the most legitimate GN’R cover band in America today.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 12:58 pm EST

yes… what Jackie Moon said.

Saul Hudson | 10/19/2009, 1:20 pm EST

Actually, Axl’s the man

surforia | 10/19/2009, 1:21 pm EST

Saw Axl in 2006… best live scream I’ve ever heard, BY FAR… Homeboy can still wail.

Leah | 10/19/2009, 1:22 pm EST

If you have nothing nice to say, go say it somewhere else, please.

There are millions of ppl, myself included, who are VERY excited about this news.

Go play somewhere else, please, thanks!! :)

Oh Yeah! | 10/19/2009, 1:22 pm EST

It’s not a cover band if it still has original members now is it? Many bands lose members not just Guns N’ Roses. You must be a Slash fan who used to think the band was God just because of him. If so, newsflash, more than one member makes a band what it is ;)

Heath | 10/19/2009, 1:24 pm EST

This is great, say what you want. If you don’t like it, don’t go. I for one will be at as many shows as possible! And Jackie, why don’t you check it out for yourself before making that assumption. YOu merely came to that conclusion because the media told you too.

Ray | 10/19/2009, 1:26 pm EST

Oh,hush up … Have either of you guy’s actually seen the new lineup perform? I doubt it.If so, you would keep from making such ridiculous comments.

If you consider Guns N Roses today the most legitimate cover band in America, fine.Be an ignorant bastard. But having Axl fronting ANY band would be the closest thing to Guns N Roses as one could hope for.If you want to talk soulless and bloated, think back to 1993, when the band consisted of 5 guys, two female backup singers, Teddy Zig Zag,a girl on horns, a sax player, etc.Oh, and occasionally, Axl would interrupt Knocking On Heavens Door with a funky reggea breakdown.Yikes.

Personally , I believe the band as it is today is at it’s most impressive.Axl has never sounded better. And I dont care who hears it, “Chinese Democracy” is an amazing record. Thanks again David Fricke for that 4-star review.

GnR Supporter | 10/19/2009, 1:27 pm EST

So why are your panties in a bunch Jackie? If that is your opinion, then it sucks to be you. I guess you didn’t see GnR in 2006 or you wouldn’t have made such a stupid comment. What have any of the former members of GnR done recently that makes you say this version is soulless? And Jackie Moon isn’t even your real screen name anywhere. Why are you hiding behind an alias?

Ray | 10/19/2009, 1:27 pm EST

P.S. For the love of christ, come back to the U.S.!

split66 | 10/19/2009, 1:31 pm EST

I for one would love top see AXL tour with his new players. They absolutely blow the doors off the old band playing the old tunes live and the new material is untouched today by any other band touring, recording, rehearsing, writing. Haters are generally uneducated.. and wrong. What you have here is a group made up of players that are the top of their game.. that and the fact that they are being led by Rocks all time best front AND vocalist. Hello! And honestly.. if you think he has lost his voice and can’t sing anymore… then you are only being ignorant. He has never, on any recording, sounded better than he does today.

Peter | 10/19/2009, 1:42 pm EST

awesome news, gonna go to the mtl show :)

Egg salad | 10/19/2009, 1:45 pm EST

I saw GNR back in 91 at the Worcester Centrum. Soundgarden opened up.
That was GNR– not whatever this thing is.

Egg salad | 10/19/2009, 1:45 pm EST

and they sucked…

Anthony S. | 10/19/2009, 1:47 pm EST

Ive Been Waiting Since Chinese Democracy Came out and been waiting for Axl Rose and Guns N’ Roses to tour with the new album. I cannot wait until their 2010 Tour. I am buying tickets the minute they come on sale and i hope Guns N’ Roses releases the Better video soon cause i hope its cool. Chinese Democracy was really a good album. It takes time to get used to but its a great album. Guns N’ Roses should tour along time to promote the album and do new sons on this tour. Guns N’ Roses Forever.

Anthony S.

MB | 10/19/2009, 1:49 pm EST

I absolutely agree with Jackie Moon. Even if you try to make the arguement that bands switch members all the time, the fact is Chinese Dem is just bad. The album sounds all over the place with no grasp to the listener. People and Axl like to blame the marketing on the album, but thats ridiculous! Im a GnR fan and I didnt buy the album not because of lack of marketing, but because of bad music! Pearl Jams Backspacer can only be purchased at Target and its doing really well in sales why? Becuase its a great album! Thats all there is too it! Chinese Dem sounds like the Gnr songs you would skip on the old Gnr albums. Its bad just plain bad. And also the band members who were originally on Chinese Dem, half of them arent even in the band now! So theres no relation between the band and the listener because you as the listener cant have any emotional attachment to it. You need people to stick together in a band to make it feel real and believable as if there doing this together not as a project. The all for one mentality not whatever Axl wants.

Jive Turkey 2000 | 10/19/2009, 1:51 pm EST

I haven’t heard the new G n’ R live, but have heard the new album and found it lacking. The fact is, they will never recapture their glory days, but can maybe come close with at least a few members of the old line up. Slash, of course, is a must.

Cation | 10/19/2009, 2:14 pm EST

Haven’ they already done this tour 14 times? You could probably graph how fast Axl’s savings run out by the touring intervals. He must want a new Ferrari.

That album must have been FANTASTIC since I never heard a lick on the radio.

Move on, people. It’s over. Nothing to see here.

to Jackie Moon | 10/19/2009, 2:25 pm EST

blah blah blah

Guns N' Roses | 10/19/2009, 2:30 pm EST

We RETURNS !!!

jacob | 10/19/2009, 2:32 pm EST

axl is gnr! i will go to canada to see gnr all the way from knoxville,tn. love these guys

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 2:32 pm EST

Of course they aren’t coming to Vancouver, because they were no shows last time they were slotted to play here. I wonder how many of these shows they are going to cancel last minute? Although, I dont think people would care enough to riot over it anymore, if in fact they cancel.

JJ | 10/19/2009, 2:34 pm EST

I think it’s sad that Axl still uses the G n’ R moniker without Slash and Duff in the band.

They should be called Hired Guns n’ Roses.

That being said, I bet Axl and company will still put on a helluva show… even if they play some Chinese Democracy tunes.

matt | 10/19/2009, 2:41 pm EST

KISS is a way better band.

Steve | 10/19/2009, 2:45 pm EST

If you’re expecting to see the guys who played the guitar solos on “There Was A Time” don’t hold your breath because they were not given any songwriting credits and thanked Axl for that by fucking him and his fans in the ass. He’s touring with a cover band of a cover band now. That’s right. Even the “new” guitar players are gone now! What fucking joke is that band supposed to be? No one in his right mind is going to pay hard earned money to see Ron Thal and DJ Ashba (yeah, right – WHO???) to play their sloppy covers of solos created by guitar gods like Buckethead and Slash. That’s right, THEY created and performed the solos, not Axl Rose who is now touring with uncharismatic attention whores who only care for their paycheck and their edorsements. Everything I loved about what lead to CD is gone. EVERYTHING. I never cared for Axl being crazy and all, but now it reached a point where he hurts the music more than the music benefits from it. So fuck him. I won’t attend any of his shows until he brings back at least ONE decent guitar player.

Flash | 10/19/2009, 2:49 pm EST

I would be less annoyed with all this if he had just called it “Axl Rose Band”.

Dave | 10/19/2009, 2:51 pm EST

I saw GNR in Dec ‘91 at the Centrum w/ Soundgarden too and it was awesome! They played Estranged as one of the encores! Bottom line is Axl is GNR because of his voice and his antics! Would you rather see Slash and Duff playing Mr. Brownstone with a different singer or see/hear Axl sing it with a different guitarist/bass player? Go to youtube and see Velvet Revolver play it – I rest my case…..

Aaron | 10/19/2009, 2:51 pm EST

Good to hear Axl is getting back on the road. Just out of curiosity, I’d like to see them come to the US. It sucks that Slash, Duff, and Izzy are no longer in the band but I think whatever Axl did with Chinese Democracy was pretty good. It’s a nice album.

John Fisch | 10/19/2009, 2:52 pm EST

Stay home and listen to the new Wolfmother album instead. It’s more inspired and epic than what we waited 13 years for with Chinese Democracy.

Caroline | 10/19/2009, 3:10 pm EST

The people who talk bad about the new GNR never said something about the music, they just say “it’s no the same people, no the same music, blablabla”… it’s just a nostalgic thing, I rather to be fan of an evolve GNR than a band doing the same thing over and over. As Axl says on RS in 1992:

RS: There are purists who prefer the raw vibe that bands like the Sex Pistols had and that Guns n’ Roses had in the early days.

AR: Yeah, well, there are people who like a girl that had the same haircut she had ten years ago, too. I understand that. I understand that a lot. But it’s like, we’re evolving, and it’s us. I read a quote where David Bowie was saying that Pink Floyd was Syd Barrett to him. I’m like “Yeah, but to deny anything that Pink Floyd’s done after that?” Certain elements of our music and our performance and our attitude are still there, but we’re not the same people we were then. Maybe it would’ve been best for the purists if we’d died or broken up. Then they’d get to keep it the way they liked it.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 3:13 pm EST

this is the greatest news i heard in awhile,i seen them in 2006 and i surely well not miss them this time, they were and still are the best band ever.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 3:14 pm EST

Ticket prices seem to be about the same as the last GNR tour.

On their last tour, they played to a LOT of half empty houses, (other than a few sold out shows like MSG.)

And that was during a decent economy. And there was a lot of hype, mystery and intrigue about the fabled decade in the making, and still unreleased Chinese Democracy.

Now, the economy is in shambles, and the mystique about Chinese Democracy has faded. This tour will b-o-m-b.

Red moon | 10/19/2009, 3:16 pm EST

I was waiting for this chinese democracy tour!

CHINESE DEMOCRACY, CHINESE DEMOCRACY!!!

Red moon | 10/19/2009, 3:19 pm EST

THIS IS AXL’S BAND, AND WHAT!!!!! I SUPPORT THIS BAND.

Slash fans, lol. You should go to see Slash. He plays with Fergie now… LOL.

Lu Galasso | 10/19/2009, 3:20 pm EST

I might check this out. I’ve always wanted to see Guns N Roses live. It’s not the same without Slash though.

Axl | 10/19/2009, 3:22 pm EST

We’re excited to play for Canada. Don’t get sucked in to all the negativity that’s going around. We’re back and better than ever.

Jeff | 10/19/2009, 3:26 pm EST

Blah blah blah its a cover band they should call it the Axl Rose Band blah blah blah.

Where’s Slash? Off making mediocre and half-assed generic crap since 1995. He had nothing but good things to say about Axl’s record and neither did Duff or Izzy.

Chinese Democracy is a hell of an album, Axl is a legend and can do whatever he wants. His band (especially Ron Thal) has to be seen to be believed.

And by the way, after seeing Kiss’ Wal-Mart album barely sell 100k its first week, I guess Chinese wasn’t such a flop after all.

Here’s hoping Axl behaves himself – I notice they booked Montreal and not Vancouver…

josh | 10/19/2009, 3:31 pm EST

I saw them in 2006 and it was the best damn concert i have ever seen. your crazy if you miss out on the chance to see axl rose perform live. i feel bad for you

Egg salad | 10/19/2009, 3:34 pm EST

Jeff, no one was waiting for the new KISS album. Ch.Dem. was 15 years in the making…and when it finally came out, no one cared. It hasn’t even gone platinum. It was a major financial loss and embarrasment for all parties involved. Don’t be silly. Good Day

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 3:42 pm EST

Egg salad, who cares. THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!! Chinese Demcracy LIVE!!!

Shonda | 10/19/2009, 3:50 pm EST

I agree with the fact that this band should not be called GNR I think Axl is a self centered pompous ass who only cares about himself. I have loved SLASH forever and too me there is no better guitar player to come out of the eighties. But I disagree with STEVE regarding DJ Ashba he rocks and although it won’t be Slash playing I know DJ will play with heart and respect for the music that SLASH created. I have had the pleasure of seeing both men play and although they are different they both ROCK in there own respects. Much Love and Thanks to SLASH and DJ

Nick | 10/19/2009, 3:58 pm EST

Can’t wait! Axl sounds better than ever on Chi-D : )

Camshaft Tulip | 10/19/2009, 4:01 pm EST

Twice I was rip-offed by Axl and Co, including the Olympic Stadium show in Montreal – you owe me asshole! Your nothing but a con artist with no soul or respect for the fans.

Sean | 10/19/2009, 4:02 pm EST

If you go on Geg.ca there is no mention of a Montreal show. Earlier in the day there was tho. There just advertising the Quebec City show, and when you got to upcoming events it does not list Guns N Roses on the 27 of January.

Whatever, Im fuckn pumped, even if its just the Axl show!!!!!

Cool | 10/19/2009, 4:05 pm EST

This is awesome hopefully Robin Finck comes back

irving | 10/19/2009, 4:09 pm EST

at this point who really cares. Guns and Roses coulve been the next Rolling Stones but Axl threw it all away. The only hope for Axl is reuniting with Slash and the other members. Axl is now played out.

George | 10/19/2009, 4:34 pm EST

Egg Salad, Chinese Democracy did go platinum. It also sold 5 million world wide. That is only slightly less than Death Magnetic. Axl should do fine. If he comes down to Atlanta, ill pay good money for good seats.

vinnie | 10/19/2009, 4:37 pm EST

as if the messiah has arised! rofl!i bet master axl’s new face lift and hair implants are safe and he is recovered. he can come out of his closet at last. have fun people if he appears of course.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 4:37 pm EST

Why are so many people bitching about Slash when Izzy was the main writer of the music. Slash barely wrote most of the solo’s, Axl and Izzy actually spent a good amount of time writing 90% of what you guys know as Old GNR.

Rock is back! | 10/19/2009, 4:47 pm EST

Rock has been dead for many years… still recovering from the gruesome spectacle of the pathetic old men from ACDC pissing and puking all the stage, same crappy lyrics about sex with girls that could be their grand daughters, or grand daughter’s children!… so great to see Gn’R are back, not as powerful as before, true, but still better than anyone else we’ve got out there these days. The huge number of responses each Gn’R post generates on this and other sites, is a testament to their continued relevance.

Caroline | 10/19/2009, 4:48 pm EST

Slash has a PHd on Marketing

Get real | 10/19/2009, 4:52 pm EST

Axl isn’t going to show up at any shows. He’ll have a tantrum and his fans will end up pissed off again.

Cecil Purcell | 10/19/2009, 4:58 pm EST

Jesus man, these guys are doing what they love. All Axl gets is shit after shit after shit all the time and yet he still goes out and tours. This is GNR, these guys were together longer then the original guys ever were, just let them tour and people lets get with the times. Welcome to the Jungle Baby, Moncton, Halifax, here i come. Peace

Naked_Man46 | 10/19/2009, 5:04 pm EST

Wow ROFL OMG HOW CAN THIS BE GOOD WItout Slach? Dis Will be da riot of Montreal 2

Sean | 10/19/2009, 5:06 pm EST

Naked_man46 learn how to spell! If Axl has learned, he better play a good a show and apologies about 1993!

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 5:16 pm EST

Here comes “Guns ‘N Roses” playing shit nobody cares about in front of half-filled arenas.

truthfully speaking | 10/19/2009, 5:20 pm EST

i love the old GNR but the new GNR is still amazing. they play the records just like they sound on the album live.

axl is older now, he doesn’t skip on shows and comes to play for the fans.

everyone should just sit back and listen to the music…velvet revolver did not create anything as good as anything on chinese democracy. i miss slash, duff and izzy too but you cannot deny GNR then or now…they are just too good still…

btw, they did sell platinum with almost 0 promotions

Sean | 10/19/2009, 5:23 pm EST

When is the presale for Montreal? I usually get GEG presales sent to my email. Is there a Guns N Roses fan club that gets you presale to? I want to be guaranteed to get floor!!! Im worried I wont!!!!

Verisimilitude | 10/19/2009, 5:31 pm EST

What’s great is I don’t have to choose. I can love it all!
Love GnR old and new LOVE AXL
Love Slash and all his bands
Love Loaded
Love ChiDem

And I’ll love GnR in T.O. on Jan 28
Can’t you feel the looove?

yes! | 10/19/2009, 5:34 pm EST

Saw GNR in 2006 and the show was amazing, cant wait to catch them again!

Raulinc | 10/19/2009, 5:35 pm EST

I agree with Leah.

If you have nothing nice to say, go say it somewhere else, please.

There are millions of ppl, myself included, who are VERY excited about this news.

Go play somewhere else, please, thanks!!

Leonardo | 10/19/2009, 5:39 pm EST

Axl is one of the greatest artists of our time…and with Springsteen, the only worth the wait left.
This band sounds awesome, DJ did an atonishing job with Sixx AM.
Also, if you read Sixx’s book, you can notice that Slash was on cocaine/heroine 99% of the time. The true talents in GN’R were Axl and Izzy.

JESSICA | 10/19/2009, 5:56 pm EST

AHHHHHHH MY LOVE COME TO CHILE PLEASE I LOVE YOU MY AXL

Bitch slap rappin | 10/19/2009, 6:00 pm EST

Great news!! Chinese Democracy is a great album, a lot of depth to it. Most people who say they listened to and didn’t like it never gave it a chance in the first place. It is a deep album that needs to be listened to several times to be appreciated.

To the people who have said it was bad because they haven’t heard many songs on the radio, get a clue. Fact is many of the songs aren’t “catchy” enough for the radio. Axl writes great songs, just not always great songs for the radio.

Captain O | 10/19/2009, 6:06 pm EST

Good luck with that Tour! Seen the last 2 shows in Toronto and I’m not impressed on waiting for 2 hours plus after the opening act.Never did get to see the last song or encore due to no public transit after 1 A.M.

Boyda | 10/19/2009, 6:22 pm EST

As I just told T Martin via email… If the Butthole Surfers open this, I will go. Otherwise, I’m not welcome to the Jungle.

WHAT!!!! WOW, YAY!!! WAIT??? | 10/19/2009, 6:23 pm EST

So the bands playing is almost good enough to do a US concert, but not quiet so they tour Canada… Oh well hope they eventually make it too America.

Mullets n' Cornrows | 10/19/2009, 6:24 pm EST

Jackie Moon nailed it.
When Iggy toured solo all those years he never called his band ‘The Stooges’. A little integrity goes a long way.

Axl still sings like Ethel Merman and I’m predicting 2-3 shows before an ‘incident’ and another scuttled tour.

Mo Mon | 10/19/2009, 6:37 pm EST

This is going to be awesome. The best band in the world. Axl was awesome last time around – perfectly tuned voice.

Chop-off-Heads | 10/19/2009, 6:42 pm EST

Axl Rose is an overrated asshole. Guns n’ Roses are history. Axl probably pissed in his pants since he never might would have made it with his own name and his own face and without his hair. He’s a laughable freak. Chinese Democracy isn’t brilliant. It’s a mediocre over produced rock album with a few nice songs made for teens who believe this is great rock. I wish that band good luck.

Verisimilitude | 10/19/2009, 6:46 pm EST

You what WHAT!!!!, that’s why the world loves the US so much. Not! It’s not always about you. Canada loves Axl and Axl knows it.

Tina | 10/19/2009, 6:59 pm EST

OMG!!! GNR is the best ever, axl makes the band, slash was awesome but everyone moves on… Saw them in Hartfoed, CT. best concert ever, can’t wait to see them up here in Canada.

maria | 10/19/2009, 7:00 pm EST

GREAT!! THE 2009-2010 CHINESE DEMOCRACY WORLD TOUR IS STARTING!! I’m happy for all canadians and asian fans, and PLEASE GN’R COME IN EUROPE,COME IN ITALY!!! Chinese Democracy is a so great, emotional and majestic album, thanks Axl & GN’R!!!!!!!
And for the haters which it likes to lie so much:
1)Chinese Democracy debuted #1 on the chart in 13 countries including Brazil,Canada,Colombia,Finland ,Hong Kong,Japan,Mexico,New Zealand,Poland,Singapore,Switz erland,Taiwan,Thailand, and as European top 100 album;
2)Chinese Democracy reached 3 times platinum in Canada, platinum in Czech republic,Finland,Germany,Italy ,Norway,Poland,Romania,Switzer land,UK,Argentina,New Zealand and South Africa. In the U.S.A, the album is platinum on 3 February 2009 by RRIA.

..without any video and rotation at radio.. :)

rob | 10/19/2009, 7:03 pm EST

nobodys a bigger G n R fan than me but this aint them.it might be cool but will they show up ? guns is a band not a guy named Axl.hope for his sake hes ready cause thing could go south in a hurry

Former Guns 'n' Roses Fan | 10/19/2009, 7:23 pm EST

I have to agree with those who suspect this tour is a cash/glory grab…listening to the album, not one of these songs ranks with the weakest stuff on Use Your Illusion, Lies, etc. And add all the extra musicians you want but it just isn’t the same voaltile blend of personalities that made this band dangerous and rock and roll defining to begin with.

Verisimilitude | 10/19/2009, 7:37 pm EST

So? Don’t go.

G'N'R Fan | 10/19/2009, 7:38 pm EST

Regardless of who is backing up Axl, he can still do the job. I saw them when they toured Canada in 2007 and it was an AMAZING show! Sebastian Bach started it out and when Axl finally hit the stage (midnight ugh) the roof went off the place! Slash would be a sweet addition, but we all know it will never happen. Axl is an ego driven nut job no doubt, but he is also brilliant at what he does!

cathy | 10/19/2009, 7:47 pm EST

if you don’t like it don’t go see it. but shut the fuck up axl is god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greg | 10/19/2009, 7:51 pm EST

No vancouver show due to olympics, so im off to edmonton. axl is still one of the greatest front men alive and after seeing them several times in 2006…it’s gonna be brilliant.

Guns the best band of all the times!!!

MIKE | 10/19/2009, 8:40 pm EST

Yeah, it ain’t the same as the old…but if Axl wants to call this GN’R, then so be it. He does own the name cause Slash, Duff, and Izzy didn’t give a damn back then. Now, 17 years later…they probably would have re-considered signing the rights to Axl because of the band’s success. One thing is for sure though- GN’R will NEVER DIE. We still have the good albums to listen to forever.

Appetite For Destruction | 10/19/2009, 8:44 pm EST

Axl with a bunch of generic sidemen = sucky

Slash with a bunch of sidemen = sucky

Axl AND Slash together = excellent.

The real Guns N Roses (ie, Axl & Slash) was much more than the sum of their parts.

JAMIE | 10/19/2009, 9:38 pm EST

saw them in 07 in Australia, they didn’t come on till 1am on a week night and the crowd was booing them. Show finished at 3 am. no respect for the fans!

Axl with a bunch of sidemen = meh.

Slash with a bunch of sidemen = meh.

Axl and Slash together = excellent.

The real Guns N Roses (ie Axl and Slash) were more than the sum of their parts.

Who cares?

freemanrockin | 10/19/2009, 10:03 pm EST

actually nowadays i listen to chinese democracy more than appetite, buckethead slays notes better than slash, sad to say he is not with the band anymore. if only axl kept him satisfied to stay.

Don't give a damn anymore | 10/19/2009, 10:16 pm EST

Soulless virtuosos. Perfect description Jackie F’n Moon.

Turd Burglar | 10/19/2009, 10:18 pm EST

I love GNR and was actually listening to GNR before coming to RS (USI II if you may ask). But I love Axl and Slash, the new GNR is a dud! I am not into overbloated turds, just give me kick ass rock n roll. Why Axl? Why the braids? Why ruin a perfect name in rock n roll for a killer mofo with a bunch of jerkoffs with fancy stuff? I just want to rock!

AXLNYC | 10/19/2009, 11:56 pm EST

To the haters, who cares what you think, you’re all too soft to go see a real show that don’t start til midnght any ways! AXL is GNR, it is all good, and they will be top notch this time around as always!

el dudereno | 10/20/2009, 12:05 am EST

hey wait, no Vancouver date? I thought you, we were told we were a total RIOT…HA!

Manuel Adolfo | 10/20/2009, 1:30 am EST

The pasted is the past! Be great full that a band like Gn’r came out in our life time! Good thing they broke up cause they way they were heading together was becoming very hazbine n not real motivated. The decade long brake was great for them! They r more focused n more cautious on how to approach art of making music! The new album is amazing so different from anything the band has ever done ! Ppl grow! The world changes every day! Nothing never stays the same! Be happy that we can still hear the music the way it need to be heard not by other voices! Btw if slash wasn’t so strung out he would of relieses how epic he really is not just a blues kick ass metal guitar played!! Old guns thanks for my youth new guns thanks for the new grown up material! Guns N’ fn’ Roses as a whole inspiring!
P.s can’t wait to see the new video cause they r the only band that can make the greatest music video’s all the time! Besides thriller gn’r revolutionized how to make a film not juts a single n a video!

RNR | 10/20/2009, 2:16 am EST

AWEWSOME NEWS!!.. YOU DONT LIKE IT?? … WE DONT CARE… BRING ON GUNS N ROSES!!!

not the same... | 10/20/2009, 3:26 am EST

everyone with their negative comments seem to be bitter old fans….

no bucket and finck. Finck was the longest serving guitarist from 96-08 and wrote better….the best song on CD.

The Sponge | 10/20/2009, 4:22 am EST

It’s amazing how supposedly no one cares about Axl anymore but these threads get more responses than anyone else. They will sell plenty of tickets and albums in the process. Chinese has now sold over 5 million copies worldwide.

Rik | 10/20/2009, 6:50 am EST

When did Chineses Democracy come out? Mofos should have been on the road since it was released! Oh well, better late than never i suppose :)

Vincent | 10/20/2009, 8:31 am EST

Well, the number of coments here surely indicates that they are still relevant. If you bother enough to write something negative about this band, at least it causes a reaction in you. And there’s not many bands that can do that nowadays…

Bring it on Axl. We’ve been waiting for you.

ellie | 10/20/2009, 8:46 am EST

We need u in the UK Axl NOW!!!!

Sara | 10/20/2009, 9:18 am EST

PLEASE AXL COME IN ITALY!!! I love you and Chinese Democracy, I want to see you my love and to hear your beautiful music!!!

MB | 10/20/2009, 10:18 am EST

This tour will fail miserably. Who wants to see a cover of a cover band. The band Axl has isnt even the band of Chinese Dem! Its pathetic! And people are like why do so many people keep bashing AXL? Its simple he does this to himself and to his fans! Why are you defending somebody who ruined the GnR name? Skips shows, waits 14 years to make new album, makes bad album, fires people left and right. Hah you dont even know for sure who your going to see during this tour! Seriously! For one thing you better hope he shows up and also the band members at this point could be anybody! For those who are defending him and going to his shows, I want to see you come on this blog and keep defending him once he doesnt show up to your show! And this is coming from a GnR fan of the original of course.

WilliamMiller | 10/20/2009, 10:23 am EST

“Chinese Democracy” and “Glasvegas” were the best records of last year. What I mean by that is they actually keep you interested over repeated listenings. A rare thing these days!

Tonyboots | 10/20/2009, 10:28 am EST

Be prepared, this inconsiderate jerk will come on stage @ midnight, not caring that his fans actually have day jobs, unlike him.

JamesAXLLOVER(NON GAY) | 10/20/2009, 10:35 am EST

UK PLEASE AXMAN!!

Admiral | 10/20/2009, 10:43 am EST

I would love to see that show and rock out to GnR with 50 000 other fans…probably not going to happen here in South Africa unfortunately but never say never!

Axl is a legend and Chinese Democracy a killer album. It even garnered very good reviews from the world press who were dying to shoot it down so the armchair music snobs out there in comment-land can blow me ;)

Sincerely.

UKGNR FAN | 10/20/2009, 10:48 am EST

Axl can still sing and Chimese Democracy was a very good album, lookin’ forward to seeing these guys play again

Dombod | 10/20/2009, 11:44 am EST

Saw GnR in Manchester Uk, in 2006. Wasn’t expecting much from it but it turned out to be the best gig I’ve been to… awesome! Chinese Democracy is a very good album. If we hadn’t have had to wait for 15 years for it’s release, it would have been hailed a success. The real fans love it, that’s all that matters.

Garbage | 10/20/2009, 11:46 am EST

when your coming to Cyprus or Bulgaria or in europe ?

sigh... | 10/20/2009, 12:29 pm EST

yes the new players are extremely talented and know the songs inside and out, but what’s missing is the swagger, and the rock n’roll spirit of the original band. If you prefer the new band to the old, then I can’t consider you a real Guns fan.

Red Moon | 10/20/2009, 1:01 pm EST

I’m a fan of both, old gn’r and new gn’r. It’s ridiculous to compare old gn’r with new gn’r. Original Guns dissolved. Accept it. Now, we have to enjoy our favourite gunners in different bands.

Red Moon | 10/20/2009, 1:07 pm EST

According to your thought, ¨sigh¨. We should say that if you like VR then I can’t consider you a real gn’r fan…

VR has 3 members of old gn’r and it doesn’t have the same quality as old gn’r.

Chip Love | 10/20/2009, 1:21 pm EST

Chines Democracy is a killer record. Axl is an amazing talent. And I hope they tour the States too. Rock on, G’n'R!!!!

if your still stuck in 1988 do us all a favour and go back there.

oh and p.s. lets not forget how horrible libertad was. lolololerskates.

Steve | 10/20/2009, 3:48 pm EST

And out of these 13 dates they’ll show up for 7 of them and of those 7 they will not hit the stage until 12:30 or 1:30 a.m. due to whatever psychological ailment has afflicted Axl on that particular evening. The cities that get stood up will riot and yada, yada, yada.

INCONQUERABLE | 10/20/2009, 4:37 pm EST

Ryan Dangerously | 10/20/2009, 4:47 pm EST

Hey, how about bringing Chinese Democracy to the U.S. at some point, Axel?

ron | 10/20/2009, 5:02 pm EST

he should just go to vegas and do his act. somebody should remind him he couldnt handle the tour when he was 20 years younger ,i wonder what the over/under bet will be for how many shows they do before his first cacellation

Civa | 10/20/2009, 5:14 pm EST

Saw them open up for the Cult in 88- GnR Sucked! Saw them with Metallica a couple years later–They still sucked!
Save your money and just buy the CD! Axel is just not worth a damn live!

Best live scream? Roth between ‘78 and ‘83.

Surforia | 10/20/2009, 8:01 pm EST

Well “Imp,” that may be, but unless you have a flux capacitor and 1.21 jigawatts of electricity, you won’t be hearing it live anytime soon.

Ronnie | 10/20/2009, 8:48 pm EST

I respect every GN’R member there was and is for their musical abilities past and present. The Appetite/Illusion lineup could have NEVER made Chinese Democracy. In comparison, the new lineup could NEVER make the classic albums. So Axl, stop playing OLD GN’R songs at your NEW concerts. One or two classics would be okay…but not the majority of the setlist. If that’s all you are gonna do, call up the REAL Guns. I love all GN’R albums cause Axl is the greatest frontman of my generation. I was 8 years old when Appetite was released, so I know GN’R in and out. They are easily my favorite band of all time. I am just happy that we still have all the past albums to listen to as well as all the solo efforts of the ex-band members. Chinese is good, but fails to meet the success of other GN’R albums.

Miguel | 10/20/2009, 8:54 pm EST

All you dumbasses that dis the band or Axl like that need to stop looking at GN’R stuff on the internet. I hate all the new “pop” shit out there today, but I don’t go to the websites and dis that music like you idiots do to GN’R. “I see you standin’ there, you think you’re soooo cool, why don’t you just…Fuck Off!”

John | 10/20/2009, 9:00 pm EST

INCONQUERABLE: Enjoying all the new amazing songs at the concert? HA! It’s replacements playing the classics we love! You’ll be lucky to hear 3 Chinese Democracy songs.

Drunkanuk | 10/20/2009, 10:19 pm EST

We’ll see ‘em with the new line up in the Hammer.
Last time they played here Axl was
hit with a bic lighter thrown by a fan.He threw down his mike, had a little tantrum and disappeared off stage.
P.S. Best live screamer = Ian Gillan.

I hope Axl decides to not screw Vancouver over again…oh wait. He did by conveniently skipping VANCOUVER. I actually bought chi-dem. and liked it. some gratitude AXL . It’s been 15 years since they played here

Hi Insider!

Where do i enter the password for the Montreal show!!!

Thank you!

Sean | 10/21/2009, 4:13 pm EST

Cactus I was thinking the same thing, im a huge Montreal Guns N Roses fan and the concert is all I have been thinking of since I heard that they were coming back here. Whats the site for the Montreal presale and when is the Montreal presale going on sale?

Kimberly. | 10/21/2009, 4:23 pm EST

I didn’t know what to expect when I went to the GNR show in Winnipeg in 2006. But WOW. I was blown away… unfortunately, most of the people who are writing negative comments about the “new” Guns n’ Roses probably didn’t like Axl to begin with, and likely haven’t seen them perform recently. Honestly, it’s incredible. I grew up on the old stuff (love it), and I’m a huge fan of Chinese Democracy. The tickets are very reasonable – do yourself a favor and check it out. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Axl truly is amazing and he has put together a fantastic band – the best of the best musicians.

I can’t wait for the concert! Thanks for the presale password guys.

Kimberly. | 10/21/2009, 4:24 pm EST

P.S. I think you can enter the presale passwords at ticketmaster.ca

Corey | 10/21/2009, 5:54 pm EST

those presale passwords are not correct. ex. insider said the password for london was HECFi which stands for hamilton entertainment and convention facilities inc. ANd it is the password for Hamilton not London

Kimberly, they dont even list the Montreal show on Ticketmaster.ca!

I personally think that Chinese Democracy was the best album yet by GN’R. I can’t wait till they tour that music in the US!

Kimberly Allen | 10/22/2009, 9:56 am EST

I think he is still a great front man.I would love the see the old line up also but I still enjoy Axl and his voice. I hope he comes close to where I can go see him.

Jeff | 10/22/2009, 10:34 am EST

Yawn. Axl must be broke. A year after their album came out, they’re touring, in Canada. If you didn’t see GNR 20 years ago, you missed out, and there’s no point wasting your time and money now. I’m guessing most of the enthusiastic comments are from children who weren’t even born when GNR were in their prime.

Tina | 10/22/2009, 11:16 am EST

Dash Rendar | 10/23/2009, 7:20 pm EST

I agree to Jackie Moon. They could be a very good musicians, but the name Guns N´Roses is too big for them. It´s Axl Rose plus some other musicians. IT´S NOT GN´R!!! I´m sorry guys…
Original GN’R ROCK!!

On its own merrit | 10/24/2009, 12:52 am EST

Chinese Democracy is amazing. So many facets, sounds, ideas overlapping interesting vocals… I listened to this album with an open mind and it took more than a few runs through all the tracks before I would recommend anyone I know to listen to it. Gotta say now that Zep, STP, Queen, Elton John, Beatles, GNR or rather Axl Rose can be uttered in the same breath in my book. Too bad I can’t see the show in Vancouver…

I LOVE YOU AXL I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!

hello axl | 10/24/2009, 10:18 pm EST

OMG people! Just because slash and co aren’t there doesn’t mean it can’t be a great show. I’ve been fortunate enough to see both the old as well as the new guns and I love them both. Granted, it would be awesome to see the old lineup back together again but IT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!! So, to all you haters out there, maybe you shouldn’t read web news that you have no interest in. I liked Chinese Democracy and i’m going to support the tour. I think it was refreshing to finally listen to a rock album that was not about strippers and getting wasted like all the other crap that gets overplayed on the radio stations. Thank you, that is all….

To Me | 10/25/2009, 8:37 am EST

A reunion, it’s better to leave things alone. It wouldn’t be the same anyway. slash dodged the bullet of death once and if he would not of survived he would of been replaced. Not that the memory would not of been there, but life goes on and that’s exactly what Axl is doing and so is slash. Axl isn’t afraid to expand the musicians ability and they’re not afraid to play it. GN’R are all seasoned musicians and if they didn’t feel they have a good thing going for them with GN’R, they wouldn’t be GN’R. Chinese Democracy is one hell of a fantatic album which shows ability to broarden their expectations, the sound and the many singing voices of W. Axl Rose. I feel GN’R is being judged from negetive comments that have been said and people just love hearing dirty laundry and weed into it. GN’R has a great potential future and it’s not over yet !

Sativa | 10/30/2009, 9:55 pm EST

I am a die-hard GN’R fan and have been since I was 13… (I’m 30 now). Guns N’ Roses to me means Axl, Slash, Izzy, Dizzy, Duff and Matt (or Steven). I became obsessed with Axl… I feel like he is a part of me. Given my hard-core dedication to this band, I have had a very difficult time coming to terms with Axl becoming who he is right now and still calling the band he plays with “Guns N’ Roses”. I still feel that die-hard loyalty to him, but I really wish he had let the name GN’R die when they broke up. This is not Guns N’ Roses. It’s not. However, I have VIP tickets to the concert in Toronto and I plan to fk’n ROCK that show. I feel like if/when he looks at me he will feel what he means to me… ya… haha, I’m THAT fk’n obssessed… I bought Chinese Democracy when it came out, but it’s still in the plastic… just not ready to listen to it yet. Having this VIP pass to his show in Jan is something I’ve waited for for a long fk’n time… it’s gonna be something I will carry with me forever… It’s fk’n Axl Rose man… nothin else to say…

any info about how it is going on with the tickets sales???some concerts sold out or not yet

slash-is-a-noob | 11/2/2009, 8:34 pm EST

slash was an over-rated piece of s**t, all he could play where the same notes over and over on the pentatonic scale, his best riff (sweet child of mine), was as he says himself a mistake, slash is by far the most over-rated guitar player in the world, Axl is gnr, f**k the rest of them. Everyone mocks axl and calls him names for “breaking up” gnr, he broke them up because they were a pack of junkies

Sativa | 11/5/2009, 9:05 pm EST

I agree with Anonymous… Shut the f**k up – You’re in or you’re not…GO or DON’T GO. That’s it.

Nat | 11/6/2009, 9:49 am EST

WOW! I think its so sad there is so much negativity around Guns. Okay so its not the same line up but Axl is still producing amazing work and I for one would LOVE to see them live.

Likewise I’d love to see Velvet Revolver again even tho my loyalty will always be with Axl.

How quickly those who made negative comments forget what all of the original Guns line up gave to Rock N Roll. Sweet Child, to name but one song, IS the best song and had countless accolades to prove it.

Ironically I believe Axl will be flattered that after all this time he still proves to be controversial.

Fuck you all, haters | 11/11/2009, 10:24 am EST

Chinese democracy rules (overproduced? yeah, try the latest shit from Metallica or AC/DC instead, fuckin’ pieces of shit with a huge emphasis on the loudness!). Axl rules. Haters suck.

If nobody cares about Axl and GN’R, how come they still managed to sell like 3 millions records, WITHOUT PROMOTION, WITHOUT A VIDEO, WITHOUT A TOUR?

Even the stupid haters still care, otherwise they would spend their precious time doing other useful stuff, like killing themselves.

I definitely LOVE this album.. At first, i was not sure but after maybe 3 or 4 listening it all came up… Wonderfull music arrangement, a lots lots of playback music on each song.. Its really complete.. I understand now how come it take so long before the release.. I love ALL the song except 2 .. Rest is MASTERPIECE… Axl’s vocal is higher than ever, and clearer than ever.. It’s just FANTATSIC… And lyrics are awesome too,,, ITS definitively an album to own
