Adam Lambert’s “2012″ Song “Time for Miracles” Debuts Early

10/19/09, 9:36 am EST

Adam Lambert’s first post-Idol single “Time for Miracles” made its unexpected full debut this weekend after it reportedly became available prematurely on the iTunes Store in Italy. As Rolling Stone previously reported, “Time for Miracles” features in upcoming disaster film 2012 and its soundtrack, and the song’s music video was set to premiere before screenings of Michael Jackson’s This Is It documentary starting October 27th. According to Amazon.com, October 27th is also the day the song becomes available for download in the States, but you can take a listen to “Time for Miracles” on YouTube.

Go behind the scenes of Lambert’s RS cover shoot in exclusive photos.

“We wanted to match how epic the film is. We wanted to reach out and grab people by the heart,” Lambert said of “Time for Miracles.” On the track, Lambert proves how flexible his pipes truly are, effortlessly shifting from heartfelt, Ryan Adams-esque verses — complete with what sounds like a pedal steel guitar — to swelling arena-rock chorus. Throughout, Lambert’s incredible voice, which moved Queen’s Brian May “to jelly” when he heard the song this summer, shines through. May also predicted the song would be a “Number One smash.”

See what surprises Adam Lambert has planned for his “sexy” November debut.

The song was produced by Rob Cavallo, who also worked on Lambert’s upcoming debut album, out November 23rd (Amazon says the album’s release was pushed up one day from November 24th). Lambert is still hard at work on his LP, typing on his Twitter this weekend that he was in the studio with producer Dr. Luke (Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl,” Britney Spears’ “Circus.”) “This album is gonna be Siiiiiiiiiiiick,” Lambert previously tweeted.

The song is okaaaaaay.

The poor deluded frau will defend it to the end of the earth, saying its the best song in the history of music.

But in the real world, its a very mediocre song and vocal track. I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing Part II.

Anonymous shadow | 10/19/2009, 10:20 am EST

The song is great. Perfect rock anthem. Amazing vocals.

JimmyMak | 10/19/2009, 10:24 am EST

Lambert’s voice is impressive and he just keeps getting better and better. His vocals are unique and strong and showcase a remarkably wide range. This isn’t the best song ever, but for a movie theme song, it’s terrific.

Considering the hit I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing was for Aerosmith, I’d say you’ve paid this song a high compliment Anonymous.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 10:33 am EST

I am not one of the “deluded frau”…the song is the typical movie soundtrack etc.but his vocals are still the best going. Don’t shoot the messenger, this isn’t Adam Lamberts music, this is just a session he got hired for, and his singing is amazing..who else has this kind of range to sing this stuff? Justin Timberlake? Please!

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 10:45 am EST

yeah, JimmyMak,

I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing WAS a hit.

A generic, bland, lifeless hit, which adds NOTHING to Aerosmith’s body of work.

I didn’t mean it as a compliment.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 10:47 am EST

I would like to add, I think Adam Lambert COULD be great.

He’s much better than this crappy material he was given to sing.

talya | 10/19/2009, 10:51 am EST

the song is awesome!
can’t wait for Adam’s cd…

Trish | 10/19/2009, 10:52 am EST

The song is so beautiful & Adam’s voice is amaaaazing!

Nick | 10/19/2009, 10:55 am EST

Song is good for a disaster flick, but standing along, not so much. But then again there is nothing but the charts are full of cheesey crap. The vocals are great and I am interested to see what he can do with an album.

Nice try | 10/19/2009, 11:05 am EST

This is the “rock god” that RollingStone has been bludgeoning its readers with? Dude clearly has pipes, but this song sounds like a computer-generated piece of drek written for a Saturday morning superhero show 15 years ago. Good God, it’s awful.

AnninSD | 10/19/2009, 11:07 am EST

Perfect song for an Epic Disaster Film and the way Adam sings it brings it to a higher level and makes it a better song. I agree with the “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing – Aerosmith” part 2 comparisons, but that is a good thing for Adam – mass sales & airplay equals mass exposure & will get people to listen and buy his new CD.

JimmyMak | 10/19/2009, 11:08 am EST

@Anonymous What you see as crap others might not agree with. I think Lambert can be great too and I also believe this song is a good start for his career. What new artist wouldn’t jump at the chance to do a soundtrack for a possible blockbuster movie? What artist has the range to hit the notes required in this song?

Cheesy or not, it’s Lambert’s voice that’s gonna sell this thing. I honestly think it’s going to be a hit.

Abbysee | 10/19/2009, 11:14 am EST

Not the best thing since sliced bread, nor the reinvention of the wheel, but Adam sings his effin’ face off. Job done, moving on.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 11:24 am EST

I love Adam’s voice and I like the song. But even though it is for the epic film 2012, I think Rob Cavallo has WAY overproduced this song. I hope he isn’t planning to make us strain to hear Adam’s voice by overproducing the 6 songs he’s done for the album.

Jackson | 10/19/2009, 11:27 am EST

In one year no one will remember this guy, hes just a product, a bad one..

virginia | 10/19/2009, 11:27 am EST

My God! I just heard Adam’s “Time for Miracles” and I just LOVED IT! It was so beautiful that it made me cry. I will definitely be buying the single and will be playing it over and over! And I’ll be going to see the movie 2012 without a doubt.

I could definitely be president of Adam’s fan club. I just adore him! He’s so talented, georgeous and wonderful. LOVE ADAM!!

murly | 10/19/2009, 11:30 am EST

The song was written by Alain Johannes Moschulski and Natasha Shneider when she was struggling with cancer. She died last year at the age of 52. Now listen to the song again and tell me it’s cheesy.

Babe | 10/19/2009, 11:30 am EST

Anonymous-I listened to the song first on my computer speakers and I really liked it but when I listened with my earphones I could hear Adam’s spectacular vocals very clearly. Also picturing this song in the context of the movie(which is what the song was created for) makes a big difference. JMO

Josie | 10/19/2009, 11:32 am EST

You know, Anonymous, it’s fine for you to dislike the song, but it’s totally unnecessary for you to disparage a portion of Adam’s fanbase (and I do want to emphasize it’s just a PORTION) in order to do it. The “frau” are hardly the only ones who have been enthusiastic about the song. And there is nothing mediocre about Adam’s vocals – Brian May had it totally correct when he raved about Adam’s voice performing this song. Exquisite.

Sam | 10/19/2009, 11:35 am EST

Stunning. Wish it was prematurely available on iTunes in the U.S.!

WD | 10/19/2009, 11:40 am EST

It’s for a movie. An epic movie. The song needed an epic voice.

Too bad those indie garage-and-basement stars can’t get this type of gig, but I’m sure they are so much more authentic and stellar.

The deluded ones are those predicting Adam’s having a short shelf-life.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 11:49 am EST

Josie,

I was referring to the vocals to THIS song. Not to Adam’s vocals in general. I did state in a later post, that Adam is better than this bland material he was given.

And sorry, but it IS the frau, who is clamoring to buy anything and everything Adam Lambert puts out.

Anonymous | 10/19/2009, 11:57 am EST

This song is boring pop crap

sara | 10/19/2009, 11:58 am EST

Jackson, funny thing with your prediction that Adam won’t be remembered in a year, and you could be right who knows, is that they predicted the same thing for Madonna and countless others who were seen as fads.

Interestingly, and to tie it to AI, which I’m sure is where a lot of the bias comes from, they predicted Kelly Clarkson would fade into obscurity within months of her first album. Here we are 7 years later and she’s about to have her 11th or 12th top 10 hit.

That’s the danger about making predictions based on your own bias.

As for the song, it’s a nice song. The backstory is touching. Adam sings the hell out of it.

Babe | 10/19/2009, 12:03 pm EST

Anonymous(s)I am no one’s “frau” and neither are my friends ( we are college age-University of South Florida, thank you) and we cannot wait for Adam to put out, sorry, I mean for whatever Adam Lambert put out.

Amanda | 10/19/2009, 12:07 pm EST

I love this song, it’s perfect for the movie and Adam’s voice sounds beautiful! I was so nervous they were gonna mess with his voice, auto-tune or whatever, because he doesn’t need that, so Rob Cavallo did great when he let Adam’s voice come through just the way it is – beautiful and amazing!

GG | 10/19/2009, 12:08 pm EST

Sorry, this song is Cheesy. Adam’s voice is good until the half way point & then the high pitched screeching starts. The song sounds so outdated, something you would hear form 1995. As a FAN i hope his album will be more of a fresh sound. I have a felling this song will do good with his hardcore fans for a bit, & then just fade away.

alice | 10/19/2009, 12:10 pm EST

Why it is not available on iTunes in the U.S.?

Cassidy | 10/19/2009, 12:19 pm EST

When I listened to Adam Lambert singing Time For Miracles I was able to feel the whole story line to the movie. I felt like I was in that situation. What emotion this guy puts into his songs and his vocals have a unigue perfection and sound that moves me immensely. I was blown away. I love this song, it is wild, and I feel there is no one else except Adam Lambert who could have made this song as brilliant as it is. I am going to this movie now just for the song at the end. A first for me!!!

Camicar | 10/19/2009, 12:21 pm EST

I love the song, but then again I love rock music, not the crap that poses as music today. I love a singer who can actually sing, not the auto-tuned pre-packaged fluff/gangsta/ho who couldn’t sing a song live if their lives depended on it.

Jo | 10/19/2009, 12:21 pm EST

This song is for a disaster flick. It’s not Adam’s single from his album. It does not reflect what his album will be about. I think it’s a beautiful song and who cares if it’s cheesy or outdated. His vocals are immaculate and moving and the song is perfect for a disaster flick. The song was not written for Adam but for the movie. Geez!

Camicar | 10/19/2009, 12:26 pm EST

Adam is much better than the song. Where are all the good song writers?

P.T. | 10/19/2009, 12:26 pm EST

I agree w/ those who’ve said this song is typical cheesy movie soundtrack stuff, but that Adam’s awesome voice sells it, & makes it better than it should be. His singing reminds me of Queen—it’s so nice to hear a new artist who can actually SING!!!

Anne | 10/19/2009, 12:50 pm EST

For those who say it’s cheesy, remember that this was written by long-time partners and the woman (Natasha) was dying of cancer. The words make alot of sense when you know that.

Schultz | 10/19/2009, 12:55 pm EST

PT, don’t even compare this hack to Freddy Mercury – you guys might like Lambert (as over-hyped and pre-made as he may be), but there was only one Freddy. PERIOD.

Bissy | 10/19/2009, 1:20 pm EST

Schultz: You may think Adam is a hack, but Brian May, who knows about Freddy Mercury than you or I, things Adam is fabulous and loves the song. He said Adam’s vocals on this turned him “to jelly”.

MarkStamm | 10/19/2009, 1:33 pm EST

@Schultz – If you’re going to invoke the name of the late, great Freddie Mercury, at least know how to spell it correctly. LOL! Freddie is probably the best technical vocalist in all of rock history, and Adam Lambert’s vocals are worthy of sharing that unique stratosphere. If you’re truly going discuss vocals, discuss Freddie and Adam’s capacity of breath support, register switching, register blending, pitch, vocal runs, consistency throughout registers, volume control, vibrato control and sustain. From an educated perspective, one cannot call Adam Lambert a hack. He may be the only living singer who could have shared a stage with Freddie, as Brian May well understands. On the other hand, if you’re talking purely SUBJECTIVE personal opinion as to whose vocal sounds are most pleasing to you…by all means knock yourself out. There I think I might tip the scales just a bit in favor of Freddie myself.

I’m excited to see what the future holds for Mr. Adam Lambert. He’s an incredibly gifted singer.

soozeq1 | 10/19/2009, 2:13 pm EST

Love Adam, hate overproduced songs, this one has everything including the kitchen sink. I, too, hope his album has songs that let his voice shine through since he doesn’t need the layers of production crap to make him sound good. Idol works because it is practically acapella. Voice is number one. Daughtry has a voice but who remembers now that he is overproduced on every track.

VanLaing | 10/19/2009, 3:06 pm EST

This song is simply God-aweful. What a piece of songwriting garbage…

The guy has pipes, but no idea on how to control them and he clearly tries to show off the pipes instead of simply singing the dang song. I hope this guy goes down in the books as a never-was, should have been

jim | 10/19/2009, 3:29 pm EST

WHO CARES ABOUT THIS TRASH????!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!

jeffrey | 10/19/2009, 4:10 pm EST

the song is good but Lambert’s vocals are simply incredible. This dude can sing anything and make it a hit.

Holly | 10/19/2009, 4:21 pm EST

I wouldn’t give two craps about this song if it weren’t Adam singing it. He makes anything good. I’ve now had the chorus stuck in my head for approximately 48 hours and counting.

Ghost Writer | 10/19/2009, 4:32 pm EST

I have to say I’m excited for Adam Lambert’s new album. I’m not one of those “frau’s” as somebody else on this site pointed out. (I already have a band I’m literally obsessed with, anyway. No need to add another one.) But, yes, the song is cheesy, but what else did you expect from a disaster flick? Adam Lambert’s vocals are amazing. I think this is a good indication of how awesome the album is going to be.

gtarchik | 10/19/2009, 5:09 pm EST

Thank-you MarkStamm! Finally an educated response to a cluless person. You said it all, man, thank-you from me.

al bundy | 10/19/2009, 7:30 pm EST

Perfect voice!

Steph | 10/19/2009, 8:19 pm EST

I think Adam’s voice sounds wonderful…. The song is WAAAAY overproduced, though. There’s a point near the end were the music is competing with Adam’s voice, there’s too much layering, and the song sounds messy.

I wonder what this would sound like minus the rock band or orchestra background… I think it would be interesting with just strings at a slightly slower tempo.

heathen2002 | 10/19/2009, 9:12 pm EST

Everyone on this post that thinks this song is good has taste for shit.

eve | 10/19/2009, 10:08 pm EST

I LOVE this song!It made me cry.Adam puts so much emotion into singing this song you really FEEL the words. He makes the sappy words come alive and touch your heart so deeply. He has the best voice and range I have ever heard.
I can’t wait for his album:)
ADAM LAMBERT ROCKS!!!:)

Anonymous | 10/20/2009, 12:08 am EST

This song is awful. It is boring and complete pop.

Matthew | 10/20/2009, 2:39 am EST

Oh and Eminem Relapse 2 will MURK this fool, saleswise, lyrically and emotionally

Nathan | 10/20/2009, 3:57 am EST

The guy can sing. This song would rock if they cut out half the orchestra & added a Brian May/Slash type solo, but as an Adam fan it’s good enough for me!

Jonsie | 10/20/2009, 5:45 am EST

“Oh and Eminem Relapse 2 will MURK this fool, saleswise, lyrically and emotionally”

talk about a hack…

Anonymous | 10/20/2009, 6:12 am EST

I had to hear this song many times before form an opinion. And I actually really started to love this song. I, too thought it’s little messy towards the end with too many layers. But I love it when Adam sings his face off, his high notes are so liberating and give me the goose bumps. Adam’s lower register sounds so smooth and full of emotion-just beautiful! And his high range- out of this world. His the only rock/pop artist in my lifetime who actually has that range. This song maybe 80’s style folksy rock ballad, but it’s way better than everything else out there today. This century really need new sound or bring back 70’s and 80’s anytime.

me | 10/20/2009, 9:36 am EST

This song will probably do well, but not because its good. Only because there are a BILLION Glam-berts out there that think anything he does is amazing. Honestly though, this song is a cheesy, pop, love ballad. Its been done… and has been done better.

Matthew | 10/20/2009, 10:58 am EST

Haha.. you calling Eminem a hack? Name anyone currently living who is as great and has as much potential as Marshal Mathers. And I am one of those ppl that gave Relapse 1 6/10

Jazzy Delight | 10/20/2009, 2:25 pm EST

Oh, this song is marvelous! It makes me dance like a whirling dervish, channeling my inner Steven Tyler! I can’t wait to see Adam live, where I’ll likely cry a RIVER of tears of joy! Truly a miracle to me…

terie | 10/20/2009, 3:47 pm EST

Time for Miracles is currently at #1 on Amazon.com mp3 downloads … it became available @1:00AM EST on Oct. 20th … I think it’s #12 on itunes … also sneak peek of the vid on ET Oct.20th on NBC … check local listings for time. This is a beautiful song written by a woman dying of cancer to her sweetheart … it is not CHEESY!!

Ashley | 10/20/2009, 7:06 pm EST

EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS ADAM PLEASE SUPPORT HIM BY BUYING TIME FORE MIRACLES ON iTUNES AS IT IS NOW AVAILABLE AND SPREAD THE WORD TO SUPPORT HIM ON iTUNE TO YOUR FRIENDS!! RIGHT NOW HE IS #11 LETS TAKE HIM TO #1 WHERE HE BELONGS

JESUS CHRIST | 10/22/2009, 3:24 am EST

Adam song Time For A Miracle is the best song I have heard in years…Adam Lambert is more popular than god

Anna | 10/22/2009, 8:19 pm EST

For every 10 deluded Fraus there are a few jealous guys hell bent on putting him down. I like the song, partly because I have always liked metal ballads but also because he simply sounds great.

LS | 10/22/2009, 10:51 pm EST

Apparently, some of you are under the impression that someone other than fans make singers superstars. Yes, Adam DOES have a million plus fans who will buy whatever he puts out. So did Elvis and the Beatles. Their rabid fans made them huge … just as with any celebrity. That’s how that whole superstar thing works. Duh!

lucy | 10/25/2009, 7:27 pm EST

What are you talking about, who else has the range? None other than “the”
one and only golden piped David
Archuleta. That’s who. Again, they gave the song to the wrong person to sing. David not only represents miracles he IS as living miracle.

jina | 11/5/2009, 12:48 am EST

i love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kant wait for his album :D :D:D:D
