Adam Lambert Wants to “Grab People By the Heart” in “2012″ Song “Time for Miracles”

A 30-second clip of Adam Lambert’s upcoming single “Time for Miracles” from the soundtrack of apocalypse flick 2012 was released this weekend. After previewing the track, it’s safe to say the end of the world never sounded so uplifting, as Lambert’s vocals soar over a bed of strings and arena-rock guitars. “We wanted to match how epic the film is,” Lambert said in a behind-the-scenes video at AOL Moviefone. “We wanted to reach out and grab people by the heart.”

See photos of Lambert’s remarkable American Idol run.

“Time for Miracles” yanks on the heartstrings like the theme from another massive doomsday movie, Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing” from Armageddon — a song that was nominated for an Academy Award and became one of the biggest hits of the band’s career. As Rolling Stone previously reported, Queen’s Brian May was “moved to jelly” when he heard “Time for Miracles,” writing on his blog, “I have to say I was completely blown away … it’s truly sensational. In fact it’s so obviously a Number One smash, any bookie would be mad to take bets on it. I am not kidding.”

Go behind the scenes of Lambert’s RS cover shoot in exclusive photos.

” ‘Time for Miracles’ is a great song and perfectly fits the themes of the movie. I was thrilled to record this song for 2012 and I’m glad I had the chance to help create a unique sound for this movie,” Lambert said in a statement. The song was produced by Rob Cavallo, who’s also been working with Lambert on his November debut album. Just two days ago, Lambert wrote on his Twitter, “Last studio day w Rob Cavallo! Can’t wait for everyone to hear our glam rock!!!” According to a recent Ryan Seacrest tweet, Lambert will be performing a new single in full at November 22nd’s American Music Awards.

See what surprises Adam Lambert has planned for his “sexy” November debut.

“Time For Miracles” was written by Eleven’s Alain Johannes Moschulski and Natasha Shneider. Sadly, as Rolling Stone reported last year, Shneider, who also played keyboards for Queens of the Stone Age, passed away in July 2008 after a battle with cancer.

This movie looks awful. The director keeps making the same movie over and over…. We totally GET it already, dude! You like to see famous landmarks get blown to smithereens. What else ya got?

As for Lambert’s song…. meh!

Phish | 10/13/2009, 10:15 am EST

The song sounds promising. And hey, I like seeing things explode. There’s nothing like a disaster flick for the holiday season.

Anonymous | 10/13/2009, 10:15 am EST

I love Adam as a singer, but i hate this song, i just can’t enjoy it. Sorry.

btw, it’s probobaly the glamberts fault.

Melly | 10/13/2009, 10:18 am EST

Huh, I was prepared not to like it since a power ballad seems like a bit of a throwback, but I really like how those last two lines of the clip are sung. It’s kinda stuck in my head.

Stacy | 10/13/2009, 10:28 am EST

Yes, I also blame the Glamberts for poverty, the national debt, and 9/11. They are so powerful aren’t they? Adam is lucky to have such a devoted fan base. Not all are crazy.

As far as the song and Adam, both are brilliant. The movie also looks great. I never go to the theater but will go for to hear Adam in those speakers.

To the commenter about director doing the same movie over and over again. You could say that about all action adventure movies out these days. It’s what sells and where the money is at. Just don’t go. I believe the movie will do well and will not miss your ticket profit.

siren | 10/13/2009, 10:28 am EST

So excited, can’t wait for the whole song.

JD | 10/13/2009, 10:40 am EST

I think he turns sh.it to gold. Kudos.

Rae | 10/13/2009, 10:41 am EST

I actually really like the song!!!

I’d have to hear the WHOLE thing before I totally judge it though. But from the preview and what they used on the trailer, his voice sounds reaaaalllly good.

And this isn’t his first single anyway, he also has a single from his debut cd! I’m excited for that too.

Spock. | 10/13/2009, 10:45 am EST

his voice is epic.

ontheroad | 10/13/2009, 10:51 am EST

Love the clip, I can’t stop listening to it. Adam’s voice transitions through the keys changes as fluidly as water and then soars in the high notes and takes you heart with it.

From the 1.27 I’ve heard, Brian May is absolutely right. Can’t wait to hear the whole thing.

Adam!!! | 10/13/2009, 10:52 am EST

Adam sounds AMAZING. I don’t want to see this movie (too violent/scary), but I definitely want Adam’s song! Moar Plz.

ARTWANKER | 10/13/2009, 10:59 am EST

HATED IT!

Snoozer | 10/13/2009, 12:07 pm EST

Kid can sing, but I’m sure producer Rob Cavallo used some tricks as well. Should have gotten Muse to do the song instead. HOPE this isn’t a hit, so he can disappear quicker.

Anonymous | 10/13/2009, 12:19 pm EST

Stacy,

I am the original commenter, and I find your attitude offensive.

And no, I will not be wasting my money to see this movie. Already saw Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow (both made by the same director as 2012.)

But go ahead and enjoy yourself. Especially the part where twin buildings fall. I’m sure New Yorkers will find that to scene to be a real hoot!

(What a sad movie for Adam to be associated with, for his first major post-Idol project.)

Kay | 10/13/2009, 12:27 pm EST

I love what I’ve heard so far! (Will need to wait for the full song to be sure, but it seems really promising.) Can’t wait to hear it all!

BC | 10/13/2009, 12:34 pm EST

I have to say that I am very disturbed at the amount of attention you are giving to yet another american idol singer. There is so much great and innovative music right now, and you are spending your time writing about this cheeseball? How about another U2 article while you’re at it.

heathen2002 | 10/13/2009, 1:22 pm EST

Snoozer nailed it. I think Muse would have been the best band for this sort of movie. Just listen to their album “Absolution”.
As far as Rob Cavallo, he can bite me. I hate his sterile production work. No grit whatsoever..

Carrie | 10/13/2009, 1:40 pm EST

Adam sounds INCREDIBLE!!!! Can’t wait for the movie and this song!

Comfort Inn | 10/13/2009, 2:34 pm EST

BC You Nailed IT

daynalane | 10/13/2009, 2:57 pm EST

I cannot wait to hear what Adam has in store for us. I rarely watched American Idol until I heard about this amazing singer named Adam. I have been hooked ever since.

paperrosie | 10/13/2009, 2:58 pm EST

can’t wait for the movie and the soundtrack.adam has an amazing beautiful voice ,and the short clip i’ve heard so far is totally awesome ,want to hear it over and over .a talent like his is rare and worth waiting for.i foresee an amazing career with gold and platinum albums in his future

marwablues | 10/13/2009, 3:08 pm EST

News flash, Muse fans: they’re neither music gods nor the greatest band ever. And Adam Lambert is not your typical American Idol product – give his post_idol music a chance before you kick him to the curb. I think you’ll find he’s a more original talent than you give him credit for!

Bomber | 10/13/2009, 3:11 pm EST

Has Rolling Stone already given the album five stars. What is Brian May thinking?Haven’t we seen this movie enough.Isn’t this guy’s fifteen minutes up yet?

Rita | 10/13/2009, 3:13 pm EST

Adam is going to be one of the greatest singers of all time. This movie, not so much. But will buy anything with Adam in it, on it or part of it. He is amazing as anyone in the business will tell you.

David | 10/13/2009, 3:21 pm EST

Wow, Sounds like a few Jealous fellars here..The song sounds Great, the movie looks interesting, I will go see it..and I will most likely purchase every piece of Music Adam releases..Best AI has put out in a long time..

Greg | 10/13/2009, 3:23 pm EST

LOL at the haters and the comment – don’t go, movie won’t miss ur ticket. LMAO! This 30 sec song so far has blown me away. Adam’s vocals are amazing and cant wait to hear the whole thing. Pretty sure it’s going to have many awards behind it. Will go to the movie just to hear the song, first time for that. Movie looks good, too.

Anonymous | 10/13/2009, 3:23 pm EST

Adan rocks :)
Haters to the left!!
He has a really good voice ( like Cavallo said he can sing every note from the quitar, low to high). And if you don`t like him don`t read or listen to him. It`s that simple !
I am a huge fan of muse but even they are not perfect so…

spinoc | 10/13/2009, 3:29 pm EST

I love what I’ve heard so far. The only thing about the movie that really interests me is this song and hearing it through the big speakers in the theater. That and the fact that I like John Cusack. My love of disaster flicks ended a long time ago and from the trailers this looks like it is all CGI FX and little or no plot. That should mean the prime market of teen boys will love it.

kansas | 10/13/2009, 3:29 pm EST

It’s kinda funny in a weird way to read comments from people saying negative things about Adam’s vocal abilities. I’d love to keep tabs on those folks and watch/listen to them backpeddle in a few months when it hits them full in the face what we are witnessing the birth of. I’m sure Freddie and MJ had their share of critical comments when they started out. Those of us with vision, see the similarities, and are more than happy to jump aboard for the ride of a lifetime. All of you who refuse to see the writing on the wall, will in time, and you will be welcomed to the fanbase whenever that happens. Put away your scowls and approach with an open mind.

jeffrey | 10/13/2009, 3:42 pm EST

the vocals on this clip are amazing. interested to hear the entire track.

april | 10/13/2009, 4:18 pm EST

I love what little I heard of the song.Adam is amazing! He is so hot and talented! Can’t wait for his album to be released. I am so excited for him, I know he is going to have an incredible career!

Jen | 10/13/2009, 4:19 pm EST

I absolutely love this song and can’t wait to hear the whole thing! Adam Lambert is the best singer to come along in a generation. I think disaster flicks are popular now because it seems to match our current mood but to say they are all the same is ridiculous because you could say that about any movie (ie romantic comedy) Speaking of romantic comedy I love that fact that John Cusack is in this movie. I think he will bring a real human element to the movie instead of save the world attitude.

poprocks | 10/13/2009, 4:20 pm EST

each to his own..but Adam’s voice is a true rarity these days—-his range and power fill the whole studio! I for one love his vocals and him.

Star | 10/13/2009, 4:28 pm EST

I love the snippet that I have heard.I cant wait to hear the rest. Adam Lambert can sing anything and make it sound beautiful.

Edz | 10/13/2009, 4:57 pm EST

Take out the disaster footage and you’ve got a guy in more make-up then his female fan base crooning a power ballad with Hallmark lyrics.

Funny how Rolling Stone is falling all over themselves to report this when 20 years ago if Adam’s name was say Bret Micheals, Vince Neil, Jani Lane or David Coverdale they would be roasting it as the kind of crap not worthy of their pages. Unless it’s to remind their readers it’s crap.

Lisa | 10/13/2009, 5:39 pm EST

I cannot get over how pure and perfect Adam’s voice is, I’m such a fan of it. Adam is a once in a lifetime talent, and he is on his way to super stardom.

sleepybee | 10/13/2009, 5:54 pm EST

Thank you, RS, for the article.

Very sad indeed that Ms. Schneider did not survive to hear Adam perform this beautiful song, but what a source of pride and comfort to her loved ones that her legacy continues to grow.

me | 10/13/2009, 6:08 pm EST

@Edz: Yep!!!!! So rite!!! This is RS & Americas way of selling the new thing- glam rock! They see how well tokio hotel is doing all around the word…. So RS is jumping on the glam wagon. They know chicks like that shit, that’s why he was on the cover, even before he had a cd out.

mcdude | 10/13/2009, 6:28 pm EST

why do people keep writing that? “the movie wont miss your ticket”… why should the amount of ppl who go see the movie reflect how good the movie is? honestly its movies like this, such “smart” thrillers as Gamer or HILARIOUS comedies from toned down comedians (couples retreat) that make people associate good with how much money the film makes.
honestly, im not criticizing this movie in particular, but watch the trailer again and tell me its not the day after tomorrow all over again?
And i am a muse fan, but ill concede and give adam a chance to succeed (his voice is very good). only he should not depend on generic lyrics fed to him by songwriters if he wants to be an ARTISTICALLY succesful singer.

mcdude | 10/13/2009, 6:32 pm EST

which makes me think: freddie mercury and mj both collaborated (at least in part for michael) in the creation of their music. if adam wants to reach that level, he has to put the effort in the writing as much as focusing on his effortless singing talent

NeedYou | 10/13/2009, 6:42 pm EST

Sounds fantastic can’t wait to hear the whole song. I will go to the movie just to hear Adam sing.

Rio | 10/13/2009, 6:45 pm EST

Love anything Adam sings, and will buy it ALL.

Mari | 10/13/2009, 7:02 pm EST

OMG he is going to perform at AMA!!

jolie | 10/13/2009, 8:07 pm EST

Do you really think these big dudes are going to waste their time, money, and reputation on a “typical” Idol???? Hell, I would not be anticipating this album if he were a typical Idol.

jolie | 10/13/2009, 8:16 pm EST

Though I must admit, and it’s killing me, that that freakin’ song won’t leave my head. I am not a fan of soundtrack music, but hey… it’s not a bad gig on the side, can’t blame him, not too many singers would turn that down. His album is not going to be soundtrack ballad’s, I would bet a whole lotta money on that.

Maryland | 10/13/2009, 9:20 pm EST

Wow. Those vocals.

Juliaglambert fan | 10/13/2009, 9:52 pm EST

LUV LUV LUV LUV LUV this song.. Adam is amaizing.. fantastic.. a true legend,,,, you watch.. FANTASTIC

Super Sachiko | 10/13/2009, 10:21 pm EST

I’m glad this power ballad thing isn’t adam’s primary type of sound that he will do but this is a good song so far. but it’s hard to like this song when you only have bits and pieces of it. Eh but I’ll definitely buy the soundtrack!

I’m not gonna see the movie. It looks lame. Plot: a bunch of stuff gets destroyed and people die. Typical lame disaster flick. Not worth my time.

MB | 10/13/2009, 10:34 pm EST

yayyyyyyy Adam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woweeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

shameonme | 10/13/2009, 11:32 pm EST

Gee RS…Did ya vote for Obama to get the Nobel Prize also…Why so much attention to this guy before any real product is out from him. Yes he has an amazing voice but it is what he does with that voice and the and the material he chooses that will make or break him. Most of his performances on AI where over the top selfindulgent histrionic affairs that were not new or orginal unless you haven’t seen a drag show in the last 40 years. If he turns out to be the male version of sexual shock queen/performance artist Lady Gaga …I think I will have to pass.

MORE NEWS: Adam’s “Time For Miracles” music video will debut before Michael Jackson’s “This Is It”….ADAM on big screen…OMG!!!
…goosebumpy ….Adam opening for Micheal…like passing a torch to the next pop superstar!!!

BTW: luv this song & can’t wait to hear the whole song.

anon | 10/14/2009, 8:32 am EST

If Adam Lambert had sung “Whole Lot of Love” instead of Robert Plant in the 1970’s, then the reaction to him would have been the same as it is today–fabulous powerful voice.

He can SING anything. I cannot understand why there are people feel the need to put this guy down or put down the RS for treating him like any other talented singer?

It’s a music magazine people! RS covers music news. Go find old copies from the 70’s and I am sure you’ll read coverage of people you do not like in those copies as well.

I don’t think all of Adam’s fans are Glamberts. I agree, they are over invested-But he does have more sane fans.

Daisy | 10/14/2009, 8:57 am EST

The song, as shown in the ‘2012-Adam Lambert Music Teaser’, is fantastic. Brian May is absolutely right, the world of Rock has a bright new star : Adam Lambert.

Anonymous | 10/14/2009, 9:37 am EST

Here’s my prediction:

Adam Lambert’s ‘real’ debut post-Idol album will sell in huge numbers.

But the followup album after that, will bomb.

jimi | 10/14/2009, 12:06 pm EST

can’t wait for Adam’s new breed of glam rock:
is there a Jayne County cover in the mix?

Black Hole Sun | 10/14/2009, 5:07 pm EST

“News flash, Muse fans: they’re neither music gods nor the greatest band ever.”

marwablues, until you or Adam Lambert compose a three-part symphony, and a GOOD one at that, keep your mouth shut. When Adam proves he is actually better than Muse (which I highly doubt will ever happen), then you can talk shit about Muse.

Noah | 10/14/2009, 11:10 pm EST

All of you nay-sayers out there–GET A LIFE!! You just look for things to trash, I guess that makes you feel important or something. I will definitly go see this movie. I have read several books about the mayan prophecy of 12/21/2012 being the end of the world. Adam Lambert is Unique – he has a beautiful voice with a range that no one can match. He has a wonderful personality and he is GORGEOUS TO LOOK AT!

Susie | 10/15/2009, 7:36 am EST

I am so excited to hear this song! Sounds amazing so far.

But could it not be when Adam Lambert is singing it? What a way to break out of the American Idol bubble.

Adam Lambert. Singer. ‘Nuff said.

Impatient | 10/15/2009, 7:31 pm EST

Adam has been held back like a Tiger by the tail for WAAAY TOO LONG !
unleash him for fk sake and..
LET THE BEAST ROARRRRRRRRRRRRR

Meg | 10/18/2009, 10:14 pm EST

OMG Adam is fantastic in his music. Give him a chance–he wont let you down–he has promised and I believe!! Love his voice!

ralph | 11/5/2009, 10:28 am EST

incredible, that boy can sing

GlambertLover | 11/11/2009, 5:18 pm EST

I sooooooo love that song.
