Download Nirvana’s “Scoff” Live From “Bleach” Reissue

10/1/09, 2:58 pm EST

We’re only a month away from the 20th anniversary reissue of Nirvana’s Bleach, and Sub Pop is offering up a free download of one of the songs on the remastered live disc that will accompany the band’s debut album. “Scoff” was recorded at Portland, Oregon’s Pine Street Theatre on February 9th, 1990, and judging on this track alone, the previously unreleased concert disc will put to shame all those pre-Nevermind bootlegs you purchased back in the day. Producer Jack Endino, who also oversaw Bleach, remixed the original Pine Street tapes for the release.

Download “Scoff” below, and pre-order the Bleach reissue over at the Sub Pop store now. The reissue hits store November 3rd.

Jack Endino and Chad Channing Reminisce About Bleach.

Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic recently got his hands on the Bleach reissue, writing on his Seattle Weekly blog, “Jack [Endino] and I got test pressings earlier this summer and the vinyl sounds killer. It’s going to be pressed on white vinyl – just like the first issue. I put the tone arm down and the bass growl of ‘Blew’ is there in all its Grunge glory.” The set will also come with a 48-page booklet featuring previously unseen photos from the era.

As Rolling Stone previously reported, November 3rd will also see the release of Nirvana’s legendary 1992 Reading Festival on CD/DVD. It’s enough to make you forget all about that Guitar Hero 5 debacle.

A vivid reminder of how anemic music is these days. Where is the power and the reckless abandon now? The lack of ass covering over production? You got Jack White and that’s about it.

When all else fails, sell the fans the same albums again and again. After all, it’s not like Nirvana have enough money or everything. Beatles either, eh? Can’t wait for the left-side-only mixes.

If you think about it; Where would Kurt fit into this world we are living in. I miss him and hope he has moved on but this culture is so over-saturated with glossy teen idol crap, he’d probably kill himself all over again if he were here today. There are very few bands or artists these days that have the right to parade around the world calling themselves rock stars. We have all lost something in this world; so keep Nirvana alive, turned up, with your middle fingers held high!!!!
