Guns n’ Roses to Tour Southeast Asia? Korea Concert Announced

9/25/09, 3:20 pm EST

Almost a year after the release of Chinese Democracy, Guns n’ Roses seem to finally be planning some concerts. Yet another date on the band’s rumored tour of Southeast Asia has hit the Web: according to AllAccess.co.kr Website, there’s a December 13th show at Seoul, Korea’s Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium. Our Korean is a bit shaky, but it appears tickets for the concert go on sale October 6th.

The official Guns n’ Roses Website still doesn’t show any mention of tour dates in Southeast Asia, but that site isn’t exactly routinely maintained and updated. So far, a pair of concerts in Japan — in Osaka and Tokyo — and a December 11th concert in Taipei, Taiwan has also been announced by third parties, but no official word yet from Gn’R reps. There have also been rumors of Axl Rose and friends performing a couple shows in India, but the details of those shows are less firm than the rest of the Asia concerts. It goes without saying that China will likely not be included in the itinerary of any tour of Asia, considering that Chinese Democracy might not be that well-received there.

Earlier this year, as Rolling Stone previously reported, guitarist Richard Fortus said that a Chinese Democracy tour would launch in late March 2009 and last for over two years, but that obviously was not the case. Gn’R also announced in March that guitarist DJ Ashba would join the band for an “upcoming tour,” but that never came to fruition. Since then, things have been dormant on the Axl Rose front — the video for “Better” still hasn’t been released, even though it was reported as nearly finished back in December 2008.

Keep checking back with Rolling Stone for Axl Rose’s rumored return to the stage, and take a gander of the reported tour dates below:

Guns n’ Roses
Dec. 11 – Taipei, Taiwan @ Taipei County Stadium
Dec. 13 – Seoul, Korea @ Olympic Park Gymnastics Stadium
Dec. 16 – Osaka, Japan @ Osaka Dome
Dec. 19 – Tokyo, Japan @ Tokyo Dome

Axl does what he wants. | 9/25/2009, 3:26 pm EST

As a fan, it bugs me, but you kind of have to appreciate the fact that Axl does what he wants and doesn’t care what others try to make him do. I’m sure others will disagree, but Chinese Democracy is a great album, and it’s made a little better by the fact he hasn’t bothered to support it.

Art Ackerson | 9/25/2009, 3:38 pm EST

You are running out of time if you haven’t already to have anyone even remotely interested in this tour. Southeast Asia, WTF, what about the fans here you screwed over on Appetite tour? I like Democracy , but good bands are having a tough time selling tickets.

Denton | 9/25/2009, 3:45 pm EST

BOOOORRRRRRRING!!!

JOE COOL | 9/25/2009, 3:50 pm EST

ROCK IT OUT BLOG IS WHERE I HEARD IT FIRST

dednugent | 9/25/2009, 3:56 pm EST

They should tour as an ” ASIA” cover band… I would rather hear Axl sing “Heat Of The Moment” than that crappy new record….. Or at least change your name to ‘Guts N Rogaine”…… from rock and roll king to absolute joke… what a shame.

Jeff | 9/25/2009, 4:09 pm EST

Axl seems to do things in 14’s – 14 years between albums and 14 months from the new album’s release to the start of touring and promotion. Nice.

surforia | 9/25/2009, 4:37 pm EST

Love Chinese Democracy, and would love to see Axl return to glory… homeboy can still wail.

BB | 9/25/2009, 5:43 pm EST

What in the world is a DJ Ashba?

Nick | 9/25/2009, 5:54 pm EST

Geez, it’s about effing time they did some shows!

Michael | 9/25/2009, 6:11 pm EST

Damnit Axl, if you are not going to get back with the Guns from the 80’s or 90’s, go on tour with the New Guns. It will never be the same, but at least we’ll hear and see the greatest singer in the world.

Fiddy girl | 9/25/2009, 6:32 pm EST

“They” — whatever Guns N Roses are anymore — are hardly doing any shows. If they were, they would have already. The record’s dead and nobody cares. Axl made a record that blows and sank like the Titanic. Fail!

guilherme piazzoli | 9/25/2009, 7:00 pm EST

se axl e slash naõ terian discutido em 1995 por causa de um solo que naõ foi gravado, eles ja seriam a melhor de todos os tempos e naõ teriam parado por + ou – uma decada. é ou naõ é.

Anonymous | 9/25/2009, 7:29 pm EST

Axl has become a caricature of a rock star. Axl will get back together with Slash. This is the only way for both of them to stay relevant. Another lead singer for Velevet Revolver? GNR and Van Halen should definitely do a Behind the Music. It would be about 10 hours long.

Oh Axl | 9/25/2009, 8:02 pm EST

Why can’t he look like that again? He was the prettiest redhead, second only to Rita Hayworth. Now he looks like over-Botoxed crap. And yes, I do wish he’d put aside his grudge with Slash and reunite with the old GNR. It’s a miracle that all of the original members are still alive, even Steven Adler, considering they’ve all “knocked on heaven’s door” at one point or another in their lives due to substance abuse. Shouldn’t they realize that life is short and they should put aside their grievances and just rock out together?

WACKO JACKO HEART ATTACKO | 9/25/2009, 8:26 pm EST

Of course he’s going to Asia. He has to. Nobody here is going to pay 1 cent to see this crap. Just like nobody bought this horrible album. Wake me when the real G&R goes on tour…

tuller | 9/25/2009, 8:45 pm EST

Axl Hose, err, Rose, what a twot

urmothrasaslut | 9/25/2009, 10:03 pm EST

This isn’t true. I read on the internet that Korea has been closed for repairs. So I don’t see how they could even let Axl in if they wanted. But then again, I try and stay out of politics. Especially when it is none of my buisness.

djandy | 9/25/2009, 10:52 pm EST

They need to put out another album soon because “Chinese Crap” is collecting dust in my collection. Whatever happened to the Classic Guns N Roses.

kpatrix | 9/25/2009, 11:42 pm EST

listen to all the songs on CD a couple of times…it is a great composition. Madagascar, sorry, this i love and shacklers— don’t ever try to tell me—- the band has talent. Bring on the tour.

chacha | 9/26/2009, 12:15 am EST

I heard Prince is in the studio with Axl, got him in a short lil black mini, re-inventing his style…and gonna instill whats been missin in Axl all these years…a lil FUNK!!

Buzzardo | 9/26/2009, 12:46 am EST

What? They’re not playing in China?

dio \m/ | 9/26/2009, 1:46 am EST

Im sad to here that there touring waaaay on the other side of the world. Are the trying to avoid us fans in the states? it seems to me he is pushing his fans away. i was once a huge gnr fan,now i couldnt care less.

YearZero | 9/26/2009, 2:00 am EST

Jeff,
You´re right. 14 years recording the album and 14 months to start touring…
But don´t forget the 14 million $ he spend on Chinese Democracy!!!!
(wich, by the way, has 14 tracks)

“14 years of silence
It’s been
14 years of pain
It’s been
14 years that are gone forever
And I’ll never have again…”

how prophetic lyrics…

axeman | 9/26/2009, 5:18 am EST

gnr had ther day and its not today

lostfan0112 | 9/26/2009, 8:12 am EST

I was once a GNR fan

G and R 2009 | 9/26/2009, 11:23 am EST

Chinese Democracy is an amazing album. I have to say at fist listen I was kind of in the middle with it but I love it. Its a album that grows on you. I hope they play some New York dates. I would love to see G and R Live in whatever form they tour with.

Nick Cannon | 9/26/2009, 11:51 am EST

Korea and Japan are in Northeast Asia, not Southeast Asia.

Why | 9/26/2009, 12:27 pm EST

does this guy think it is fine to play shows everywhere in the world except North America. Axl, your fucked man.

Fitzbath | 9/26/2009, 1:32 pm EST

How come it’s supposed to be a BAND called Guns N’ Roses and when they show a picture they only show Axl Rose.
I’d be pissed if I was in a band like that, I’d quit.

Tony Jabroni | 9/26/2009, 2:00 pm EST

Axl will not play these dates.
Asian promoters should expect a call from Axhole’s lawyers.

Cyrinda | 9/26/2009, 2:18 pm EST

Well it’s about time! I hope they come the the US because I have this strong desire to see Axl Rose perform right before my eyes. I wish it was the old line up, but Axl has always been my favorite member anyway. God, that picture of him on the post is beautiful. It makes me wet

Kelly Foxx | 9/26/2009, 2:19 pm EST

The picture of Axl on this post is gorgeous. He’s so beautiful and sexy

BubbaCo | 9/26/2009, 3:00 pm EST

After the loooong wait, I was a little skeptical about Chinese Democracy. It ended up being one of my favorite albums of the year, and I hope they can get a tour together to show it off live – but I’m not getting my hopes up.

BOB | 9/26/2009, 3:42 pm EST

That mrs. Rose is one sexy biotch!

gfdfdgfdg | 9/26/2009, 5:38 pm EST

It would be really great if they could play in Lithuania.

axl u suck retire!

Anonymous | 9/27/2009, 12:09 am EST

Sure, breaking up with GNR and Slash was the stupidest thing Axl Rose could have ever done, that’s common sense. Sure, he was an idiot for doing that; and Slash equally as dumb; however, Axl Rose is a brilliant genius, a mastermind of music, and has an angelic voice as well as more talent than the trashy rap and Disney pop coming out today. I will always support Axl no matter how many stupid things he does, he has the charisma, the guts, passion, and determination to do what he believes and feels is right, and is no ones puppet, anyone should be able to respect that…

Rick | 9/27/2009, 9:04 am EST

I for one have never listened to one song on this so called (NEW) G-N-r Album. I want the old g-n-r back. Just think g-n-r all orig. members on tour…Would that not bring in some money for you A@@L Rose?Just think about it…..

what | 9/27/2009, 11:59 am EST

the axl rose band?

Chris c | 9/27/2009, 1:16 pm EST

Although I admit that GnR should now be called “Axl and His Back-up Band” I like the new album a lot and I got a ticket (best seats) for the taipei show-can’t wait!

leonardo | 9/27/2009, 5:00 pm EST

DJ Ashba is a very talented guitar player and will kick ass in Guns.
You can check his work on the acclaimed work with Nikki Sixx and James Michael (Sixx AM – The Heroin Diaries).
Axl is a legend, Chinese Democracy is one of the best albuns released last year (GREAT WORK!!!).

Pslightly Psycho | 9/27/2009, 5:35 pm EST

This isn’t Guns N’ Roses: this is Axl Rose using the band’s name to hang on to their legacy. Billy Corgan is doing the same with smashing Pumpkins. Silly if you ask me.

Anonymous | 9/27/2009, 8:15 pm EST

Anyone that actually thinks Axl Rose is a genius of any kind has got to be a complete moron.

There’s nothing genius about anything Axl Rose (himself) has done, ever. Izzy Stradlin, yes; anyone else from GnR (the real GnR), no. Yes, Slash and Duff have talent, but they are certainly not genius.

Me | 9/27/2009, 10:26 pm EST

Some of you are idiots…Axl not a genius??Man if the gnr was left in Slash’s hands it would’ve been flushed down a freken toilet long time ago…they were a bunch of drug addicts not capable of looking after themselves lil less a band. I LOVE the old line up but hey there is no fuken way in the world that Axl would swallow his pride and reunite…i just want to see the on tour at least once more!!old, new i couldnt give a shit! Gunners ROCK!!

rwt | 9/28/2009, 12:47 am EST

Axl is a mess. Its obviosuly not Guns and Roses that will probably not tour but Axl Rose and his cover band.
Money ruined this guy, plain and simple.
Axl has zero loyalty to any of his fans, if he did, he would stop torturing them.
Look at Paul McCartney, 67 years old, tons of money, and still touring and giving the fans what they want.
I saw Metallica and Guns at Giant Stadium years ago. Made me a Metallica fan even though we were there to see Guns.
When Axl runs out of cash, he will get the real band back together. For now, he is a recluse living off the royalties of band that is now a shell of its former self.

Maggie | 9/28/2009, 1:31 am EST

Always loved GNR, and anyone who hasn’t yet listened to Chinese Democracy should do it cause it’s a masterpiece, and Axl is a genius. It would be great to see him perform.

CHRISSY FROM DALLAS TX | 9/28/2009, 1:41 am EST

READING THESE COMMENTS SOUNDS LIKE FANS ARE TIRED OF WAITING FOR AXL ..SUCH HARSH WORDS PEOPLE WE ARE ALL JUST HUMAN JUST B/C WE DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE FUCK IS GOIN ON W AXL DOESNT MEAN WE SHOULD SHIT ALL OVER HIM ..ITS GOING TO TAKE ME AWHILE TO GET INTO CHINESE DEMOCRACY ITS NOT LIKE PREVIOUS RECORDS FROM GNR BUT THATS THE POINT TIME TO MOVE ON FROM THE OLD GUNS AND ROSES AND HOPE AXL WILL BRING FRESH MUSIC HE’S BEYOND TALENTED AND i HOPE HE WILL TOUR AMERICA NEVER SEEN U BEFORE IN CONCERT BUT DYING TO SO WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOU LIVE FUCK ALL THE OTHER COUNTRIES AMERICA IS WHERE ITS AT YOUR FANS ARE LOSING FAITH DUDE…..

ARTWANKER | 9/28/2009, 1:47 am EST

It appears that Axl has no use for the American pop scene…which suits me just fine. It also strikes me that the last place they played was here in Japan, two years ago…the Nagoya show was great, and Chinese Democracy is an amazing(and over-looked) album. So, you guys get yer Kanye and GaGa…enjoy yourselves! Arses.Gradually, that’s all there will be. Legitimate rock bands will all go elsewhere, where they are appreciated and respected, and U.S. rock fans will have to start traveling abroad to see shows…and they’d be doing themselves a favour. I’ve seen more amazing shows here than anywhere else.

Me | 9/28/2009, 9:55 am EST

I agree with artwanker, 100% spot on.

Axl is a genius, you haters are mindless and talentless, not to mention PAINFULLY immature and disrespectful.

Grow up.

awd | 9/28/2009, 11:48 am EST

GNR never promoted this album and it was a commercial failure, sure, but it is a great body of work and better than any of the velvet revolver albums.

what they are missing is songwriting from izzy…they don’t need writing from slash or duff but those guys can definitely play, everyone knows that. it’s not the same band but their new members are very talented.

i have seen them twice alrady in the last 3 years and yes, they are amazing still…

Dirty Duck | 9/28/2009, 12:30 pm EST

Well they always say that washed up bands are always welcome in japan.

MB | 9/28/2009, 12:44 pm EST

Why does everyone call Axl a genious when Chinese Dem. was one of the worst albums ever made? How can he be a genious when he gave himself 14 years to make a new album and in return it flopped in sales, had no originality to it, no catchy tunes, cant even get a video finished for the single, wont tour the US, and still hasnt realized that putting his differences aside will make him a trillionare! So tell me where is this genious you all keep mentioning?

Tyson | 9/28/2009, 1:10 pm EST

I can’t wait to see them live in the US again. Chinese Democracy is an excellent, unique album and Axl is an extremely talented live performer.

Grit | 9/28/2009, 1:11 pm EST

Remember when GNR was the shit? That was awesome.

JDavid | 9/28/2009, 1:53 pm EST

Word on the street is that both Warrant and Cinderella will act as openers during this tour. Time to get the ol’ acid wash jeans out of the attic.

thevm | 9/28/2009, 2:25 pm EST

Very nice of Rolling Stone to use an 80’s stock photo of Axl for this story, instead of a recent one where he kind of looks like a Madame Tusseau’s Wax Museum version of the lead singer of The Offspring.

As for all you Axl apologist out there, please wake up. Axl Rose is now officially Lindsay Lohan. He’s a person once known for doing something that people liked, who is now known only for the non-relevant, self-generated drama that surrounds them.

At least Lohan has her boobs to fall back on. What the hell is Axl going to do when you all stop enabling his absurd behavior?

thevm | 9/28/2009, 3:36 pm EST

I take my comments back…

I just saw some live footage on Youtube of GNR in ‘06 and ‘07

WOW!!! Axl’s voice is amazing!!!!

I’d love to see them in the U.S.

MB | 9/28/2009, 3:37 pm EST

Hmmm…

Interesting thevm…what videos?

I’d like to watch some myself.

I admit though, some of the songs are phenomenal. I know my last post sounds like otherwise, but I was venting due to a ‘bad day’

Madagascar, This I love for example are amazing.

Rita Brazil | 9/28/2009, 3:50 pm EST

ate que fim que Axl vai lançar a turner tava mais q na hora

JJGG | 9/28/2009, 4:16 pm EST

I would like to know when RS and any fans out there are finally give this group and all the news about a them A FINAL REST. This isn’t 1987, wake up!

You hear more rumours than music when it comes to Axl Rose.

In this case, it’s really good that time goes by…

All you rockers out there better get used to the idea that

ROCK IS DEAD, and so will your listening choices be if you don’t stop this shallow nostalgia…!

Kilgore Trout | 9/28/2009, 6:40 pm EST

I really don’t understand the “reunite w/ the old GNR” crowd. I mean, what do you expect? They’ll jam a few sessions and pop out another Appettite? It’s been 16+ years. Aerosmith made great music in the 70’s and broke up and got gabck together and, sure, permanent vacation is classic but did we really need to watch the next 20 years of the ballad extravaganza of janie’s got a gun, cryin and don’t want to missa thing? That’s what Old GNR would be like. You may “think” you want to see them back together… you don’t.

No, I say Axl did us a service. if great rockers can’t die at their peak like Hendrix, Morrison and Cobain they should become unpredictable, brooding, paranoid recluses. It’s much more interesting than watching U2 degenerate into everything they hated 20 years ago or jumping, playing, singing skeletons dressed up like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Terry K, South Detroit | 9/28/2009, 6:54 pm EST

Fuck Axl and the horse that douche bag rode in on. Hey scumbag, have a good time in Korea, they really made your career. This version of Guns is as real as KISS. Rock and roll belongs in North America unless, of course, you know you suck. You scammed them before Axl and still, some dumb ass will still have your prick in their minds. Do rock and roll and favor and fuck off.

Anonymous | 9/28/2009, 8:19 pm EST

man, f-u-c-k guns n’ roses, their new album sucks..

Terry K, South Detroit | 9/28/2009, 9:06 pm EST

I take my childish post back.

Just saw “better” live from ‘06, that was amazing!

Axl…you are indeed GNR itself!

GnR Overseas Tour | 9/29/2009, 9:22 am EST

Those of you who say we hate GnR for our negative comments–nothing could be further from the truth. We are GnR fans but just tired of Axl running them into the ground.
Maybe Axl and his cover band can open for Mr. Big during their tour of Japan.
nuff said…………

jpsmokedetector | 9/29/2009, 9:41 am EST

People! This is a rock band. Its not the second coming. Get over it. Some how I did. If this band comes to your town in the future, the real test of a fan will be if they really want to shell out a $100.00 or more. If you do, go have a good time. If not, get on with your life. GnR fans have had to live with the HIGHS and Lows for over 20 years.

Rat's Ass | 9/29/2009, 10:55 am EST

Who cares? Axl is a has-been douchenozzle. Maybe he should try out for Velvet Revolver.

cliff | 9/29/2009, 11:45 am EST

worst band ever.

JP | 9/29/2009, 12:10 pm EST

saw “new” GnR in 2002, thought it was good, thought Chinese Democracy was pretty good, though not great…but Axl is now becoming a gayer fish than Kanye…

Matt | 9/29/2009, 2:31 pm EST

The fact that Axl has done absolutely nothing to promote Chinese Democracy has just soured it in my mind. What gives? Either tour and promote your work or go back to the cave you spent 15 years in.

Steve | 9/29/2009, 6:26 pm EST

That is because over there the Use Your Illusion albums were just released five months ago and the snake dance is currently sweeping the Korean club scene.

Anonymous | 9/29/2009, 7:07 pm EST

Today’s GnR is a joke. Some of you think it’s great that Axl is doing things his own way and not caring about the “establishment”. However, it’s more likely that him and all the losers he’s surrounded himself with are too coked out to get their act together. That’s why there’s no legitimate information on them, even on their own website.

He should join velvet Revolver and call themselves “Guns N Roses”.

Simon G. | 9/30/2009, 7:29 am EST

No Slash? No Duff? then NO BAND. This isn’t Guns N Roses. That band broke up a long time ago, and is done. So unless he’s reuniting with the guys. I say WHO CARES…and oh yeah. Chinese Democracy sucks.

Bo | 9/30/2009, 8:07 am EST

It’s not very “creative” to go for the man instead of the actual product, which in this case is the album “Chinese Democracy”.

You wouldn’t be pleased if anyone called you some bad things just because you’ve created something others doesn’t like as much.

As a madly devoted G n’R fan from the begining, can i just say yea Slash may kick ass on the guitar, he aint too bad at the odd vocals and what, he’s just Slash playing the guitar. Axl rocks. He plays the piano, can write his own lyrics and music and he can sing. His voice is so rare and powerfull, you can feel every emotion in any song old or new, guns n’ roses or a cover, it makes no difference, this man WILLIAM AXL ROSE is unique, he’s amazing he is GUNS N’ ROSES

ARTWANKER | 10/1/2009, 3:15 am EST

OK….
Let’s all live in the past!
Losers. At least Axl and the Guns of today are moving forward.
By the way, why don’t one of you self righteous asses go tell Lemmy that his band isn’t Motorhead anymore…or go tell Joe Keithley that his band isn’t D.O.A.? As Joe said about D.O.A.’s frequent line up changes, a rock band is much like a hockey team…shuffling the line up now and again to keep the team in winning form is simply a reality…nothing is unchanging. The past is safe and predictable…and it’s over, boys and girls. Sorry for the shock. As far as ‘washed up bands being relegated to Japan’…hmmmm…”everyone knows Japan is a dishpan”…it’s a nice quote from a lovely song not at all original, or TRUE, for that matter. So…go ahead, pull your head out of your ass…do yourself a favour. You know what’s great about Japan? We get to see top acts in intimate venues that aren’t crowded with the kinds of retards (no offence to the legitimately retarded) that ruin so many shows stateside.

My dream would be to see the original Appetite for Destruction tour. But Guns N Roses has come through a long time, and I appreciate their album for what it is. Some songs might not be what we expected, but it’s still got value. Really, I’d see the show just to see Axl himself; it’s a rare chance! Who knows if he’ll come to Asia ever again?
