AC/DC Postpone Six Shows Due to Singer Johnson’s Health

9/25/09, 6:54 pm EST

AC/DC have been forced to postpone six tour dates because frontman Brian Johnson is recovering from a medical procedure and his doctors have advised him to take time to rest. According to the band’s official Website, the group’s October 1st show in Phoenix will be postponed, along with gigs in Las Vegas, Louisville, Kansas City, Des Moines and Milwaukee. The Black Ice World Tour gets back on track October 16th in Washington, DC.

Check out photos from AC/DC’s tour launch.

AC/DC kicked off their summer tour in late July in Boston, where they debuted their giant new stage and blasts of pyro, plus a set list jammed with classics like “Hells Bells” next to new tunes like “Rock N Roll Train.”

It’s been a rough year on the road for some of rock’s biggest names. Aerosmith’s summer tour was derailed by several medical problems, most recently Steven Tyler’s stage fall. In May, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan skipped a few dates to have a tumor removed. Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Drake also had to skip out on show for health reasons, and of course, Poison’s Bret Michaels suffered the year’s most memorable injury when he was nailed in the head with a piece of scenery at the Tony Awards.

What the hell happened to the 11-02-09 AC/DC show planned for Dallas. I was ready to buy tickets on 09-19-09 when they were to go on sale and the date was removed from Ticketmaster and from acdc.com

When you order frogs legs at a restaurant – what do they do with the rest of the frog ?

rrc | 9/26/2009, 8:04 pm EST

We are lucky that AC/DC are still touring. You havent bought tickets yet so deal with a human being needing a rest. I have tickets and am more than willing to wait until Mr. Johnson is well enough to give a performance worth paying for!!!

Howard | 9/27/2009, 11:15 pm EST

I like that picture of Angus jamming with Andy Capp.

Vic De Zen | 9/28/2009, 11:15 am EST

Can’t believe these guys are still going at it. Good for them! One of the classic bands of our time.

curmudgeon | 9/28/2009, 11:46 am EST

who the fuck orders frog legs in a restaurant? You fucking hilljack.

algomajoker | 9/28/2009, 11:57 am EST

Andy Capp… good one.
I first saw the band on the Back in Black tour. Honestly, the 100 mph school-boy gimmick isn’t so interesting anymore.

Feel better soon Brian, and don’t give up, you are one of the best metal artists there is. Keep going strong, you can do it. Go for your dreams! We love AC/DC! Long Live Rock-n-Roll! :D

BriansCap | 9/28/2009, 1:43 pm EST

algomajoker;

Thats the beauty of having a choice when to see a band. The 100mph schoolboy isn’t and never has been a gimmick. It’s what’s associated with AC/DC.
You therefore, do not have to go and see them. After all. who wants to stand next to someone moaning ‘I’ve seen this before’.
Leave it to the kids who are new fans (as well as the fans who still enjoy some honest rock and roll, there are plenty of them who will be thrilled to see the 100 mph school-boy. Even if it is more like 45 mph lately.

the hodge | 9/28/2009, 1:43 pm EST

Off topic comments will be deleated? How the fuck do frog legs come in?

bunec | 9/28/2009, 3:12 pm EST

The school boy gimmick is like a trademark for this band, similar to Cheap Trick’s Rick Neilsen’s cap, also because they are both probably bald!

Mark | 9/28/2009, 4:15 pm EST

AC/DC…still alive?!! C’mon, listen to real rock ‘n roll like Creed, Avril and My Chemical Romance instead of those old men.

Mike Klander | 9/28/2009, 4:35 pm EST

Pioneers in the game. There music can still be heard regularly in clubs and bars.

Elvis Fischer | 9/28/2009, 4:54 pm EST

Mark, I really hope that is a joke: “real rock ‘n roll like Creed, Avril and My Chemical Romance” as that made me lol 4 real! I would hope nobody could be that stupid to actually post that comment in public and be serious! AC/DC is still great in concert, no matter how old!

gloria | 9/28/2009, 5:05 pm EST

Really? Creed?? are you serious?

gloria | 9/28/2009, 5:06 pm EST

I’ll take “Andy Capp”

aris | 9/28/2009, 5:28 pm EST

AC/DC & KISS are the best LIVE bands EVER!!!
PERIOD!

I'm still wondering... | 9/28/2009, 9:31 pm EST

I do hope that Brian gets better… I wasn’t trying to be rude in my question. You are correct, first and foremost the band, the individuals need to be in good health and good form and I wish him a speedy recovery. I unlike prizebig. do not have tickets… I missed my chance in January, I actually had a FLOOR ticket, but the human element interferred and I missed it… I was very much looking forward to purchasing a ticket on 9/19 to the 11/02 Dallas show.. and it was pulled.. I was just curious. Get well Mr Johnson and keep up the great stuff!

AndyCAPP | 9/28/2009, 9:38 pm EST

After harvesting the legs from frogs cooks will usually let the frogs loose in a nearby pond so they can grow them back. Frogs have incredible regeneration abilities, I once saw a frog regenerate its entire body over a period of 10 days after a lawn mower accident!!!

Affix | 9/29/2009, 3:37 am EST

I saw AC/DC when the played in Glasgow in June. And I must say they were on top form.

AlAl | 9/29/2009, 8:31 am EST

real rock like creed an avril lavigne? please…..I dont know where to even start mocking that garbage statement

wigmaster general | 9/29/2009, 9:55 am EST

Creed?
Can someone tell me how the word TONE fits in there? Guitarists are supposed to write emorable rifs and not be ashamaed to live their life in the spotlight. And ANVIL? At the age these guys are, they deserve to be looked at for the band they are, not just underrated fools. There are some memorable riffs the. My Chemical Romance? I think you are referring to entertainers, not to musicians.

jacob | 9/29/2009, 12:51 pm EST

mark you making fun of ac dc i now got to find you and kill you for that

JU | 9/29/2009, 3:59 pm EST

AC/DC…KEEP ON ROCKIN’ !!!

Globals | 10/2/2009, 7:59 pm EST

all good things

JT | 10/4/2009, 12:00 pm EST

Mark…above…you’re a complete idiot. Creed? Are you kidding???

Vannah | 10/4/2009, 3:08 pm EST

haha Creed.

ryan | 10/18/2009, 11:11 am EST

wow.. i cant believe that dickhead would even put creed in the same breath as acdc.. Ac/Dc is classic and they are the greatest band that has ever lived.. Creed and my chemical romance are entertainers not musicans, they wouldnt know a great riff and a great tune if it kicked them in the ass.. so mark u are a stupid piece of shit and should die a horrible death..

larry | 10/29/2009, 9:53 am EST

mark creed and the bands u said are bogus and not rock n roll they are alternative and suck u are a disgrace to music jus like them
