New Michael Jackson Soundtrack Single “This Is It” Out October 12th

9/23/09, 10:03 am EST

Details about the soundtrack for the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It have been revealed, and the biggest news is that the two-disc collection will feature two versions of a brand new Jackson song titled “This Is It.” The song, which will feature in the film’s closing credits, includes background vocals by Jackson’s brothers. The previously unreleased track will be released as a single on October 12th, two weeks before the This Is It film hits theaters for a two-week limited engagement starting with advance screenings on October 27th.

Look back at pivotal moments in Jackson’s career.

“This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows — that Michael is one of God’s greatest gifts,” said John McClain, a co-producer of the This Is It film and soundtrack and a co-executor of Michael Jackson’s estate. The soundtrack, like the film, will be released on October 27th. Disc one of the This Is It album will contain the original album masters of the hit songs included in This Is It, sequenced in the order that they appear in the film. The first disc will close out with the two versions of “This Is It.”

(See photos from Jackson’s This Is It rehearsal here.)

Disc two will feature previously unreleased versions of some of Jackson’s most famous songs, plus an unreleased spoken word track of a poem written by Jackson titled “Planet Earth.” The set will also come with a 36-page commemorative booklet stocked with photos of Jackson’s last rehearsal for his planned This Is It concerts. As Rolling Stone previously reported, a brief clip of Jackson rehearsing “Human Nature” was unveiled on the This Is It official YouTube page. The trailer for the film premiered during this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Dead pop star, check. Unreleased footage not approved for prime time by the artist, check. Release songs that were already issued and reissued with an unreleased track so you buy it again, check. Give 100% of the proceeds for said material to charity, denied.

Mike I want you back :)

Anonymous | 9/24/2009, 11:15 am EST

If MJ didn’t die, most of this rehearsal footage, would wind up as bonus footage on the eventual live O2 Arena concert DVD. Surely, that’s why this behind the scenes stuff was recorded in the first place.

Tony | 9/24/2009, 7:50 pm EST

Wow. Poor Michael. That family is going to pick over him like a hungry buzzard. You think Tupac could release a lot of records post-death, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Too bad no one gave a rat’s boohiney when he was alive.

sandra | 9/25/2009, 1:45 pm EST

Michael had the chance to play the Gospel but he never did ? What away to go only talking about Peter Pan instead of Jesus Christ

and the New Jersalum . Maby his Sister will play some Gospel or his Brother’s thats bad afixeated on a Fantasy caled Neither Land and not the Promise Land . Neither Land is a fantasy , and The Promise Land is a Reality in Jesus Name Amen

I agree with Sandra. I think everyone should just leave him alone. He is dead and his fans, such as myself, would like to be able to enjoy his music once again so back the fuck off!

The king | 10/9/2009, 9:31 am EST

Ye, back off. He was never find guilty, his music from when I was 4 years old(Thriller) untill today 30 years later lives forever. His music will always be relevant and last forever and ever, so those of you who still dont understand him, get over yourselves you jelouse fucks.

djandy | 10/9/2009, 11:12 pm EST

Whats with all the profanity people. I’m “This Is It” was originally recorded a long time ago and The Jackson family had dug it up to advertise his new movie. The Jacksons minus Janet are all just money hungry especially his dad. Michaels music will live on forever without all this hoopla.

DIVINEGNOME | 10/11/2009, 5:20 pm EST

Hello all you badmouthers, let a dead man rest in piece! He was going to make a hell of a job with his ” tour” ( he wasn´t going to tour anywhere, you were about going to see HIM ) in London for all of you, just think about that!! But death took him first, such a unbelieveble loss! Just think of all the song he will NEVER make and nobody ever will, I MEAN NEVER will make! And that means nobody else ever will!!! And think about his family!! Don´t you people have any shame! You who call him names or smt.you make me sick to my stomach! Freddie Mercury was bi or gay and no-one says anything bad about him, why is that? No wonder there are wars in this world!

Pekka Sahlberg | 10/11/2009, 5:41 pm EST

Hello all,
do you really think that MJ wanted to die? I don´t think so! He would have had a lot to offer to all of us musically! Think of all the songs he never NEVER got to make. Can´t you see what we will be missing out of. The music will NEVER EVER be made by someone else! Just, please, respect his memory and let him rest in piece ! I myself make music here in Finland and I REALLY liked his voice, sounds and production, nobody can replace him!!
So let´s give his family all the support we can, OK?!?!

I love you MJ forever. You wil | 10/11/2009, 7:47 pm EST

I love you MJ . You will live in my heart forever. Can’t wait to see TII, though i’ll be sad. Just ignore the hater asshole.

ill call myself seth for now | 10/12/2009, 3:37 pm EST

if micheal never died , i wouldnt have to go watch the dam movie thats out and i wouldnt have to listern to ppl sobing about tupper ware

MJ's fan for life and after. | 10/13/2009, 9:50 am EST

Haters will keep on hating, and they pretend its about MJ when its not about Michael. That’s just their excuse. Lovers will only LOVE him more to compensate. IMO, the cd is not exactly what MJ would have put out, but I will take anything that Michaels voice is on and love it. I already love that song. Cant wait for the movie and the rest of his music.

MJ Fan 69 | 10/14/2009, 8:57 pm EST

As many of you said, all of you that hate MJ, is because are jealous and selfish people. He was a wonderfull human being, a greater heart, he always since I have memory was worried about the planet, about children, what kind of world we are going to leave them because we are killing our planet, and not saying he is the biggest singer and songs writer, his voice and everything, he will be alive in the people who always believe on him and love his music, as myself. So just let him R.I.P. he doesn’t annoyed anybody just the ones are selfish…

Nonni | 10/16/2009, 8:30 pm EST

IF YOU ALL BELIEVE THAT,BY ATTENDING THE VIEWING OF “THIS IS IT” MOVIE,YOU WILL HONOR MICHAEL….YOU COULDN’T BE MORE WRONG!!!THE REASON YOU ALL GO IS TO SATISFY UR OWN EGO,TO PLEASE YOURSELVES AND UR GREEDY CURIOSITY!ATTENDING THAT DESPICABLE EVENT IS A GRAND BETRAIL TO EVERYTHING MIKE HAS EVER BELIEVED IN.

anonymous | 10/18/2009, 10:37 am EST

All of you that said Fuck You Michael, are assholes!

Taylor | 10/25/2009, 11:15 am EST

sorry for u lot who are bein kind bu others leave him alone

Haters? | 10/25/2009, 3:02 pm EST

I think the haters HAVE listened to MJ songs and even danced with his music in the background. Perhaps even tried the moonwalk.

They are in denial.

What is sad is that the haters’s lives are miserable. So miserable that they can’t find love, feelings, or respect to a dead person. If they want to hate they should hate themselves for failing to obtain these human qualities.

This is it…

Nancy | 11/1/2009, 5:46 pm EST

Breath taking and amazing movie. I never was a huge fan, but after seeing “this is it” I do regret never have taking any interest in his songs when he was alive. May he r.i.p., Love him!!
