Rihanna has recruited Justin Timberlake and Chase & Status to serve as producers for the follow-up to her multiplatinum Good Girl Gone Bad, and now both JT and the U.K. dance duo are giving a progress report on what we can expect from Rihanna in the near future. “In my opinion, she’s got the world in the palm of her hand right now, based on her success with her last record,” Timberlake told Access Hollywood before the Emmys. “The stuff we’ve come up with in the studio, it’s the next step for her. It’s a little more grown up. It’s got some edge to it.”

Chase & Status’ Saul Milton and Will Kennard have had a pair of sessions with Rihanna and describe the “Umbrella” singer as very professional and a “really cool girl, down to earth.” They also label her as someone who knows what she wants, musically. “When she doesn’t like something she’ll let you know. When she likes something she’ll let you know as well,” Milton told the BBC. “On one track she came up with some cool melodies and cool ideas, the kind of vibe she wanted. This album for her is just about what she likes and what she’s into and what she wants. If she’s not into the vibe she’ll be like, ‘Nope, I don’t think it’s for me.’ ” The pair also promise their “trademark big beats and big bass” on their Rihanna cuts.

Rihanna recently made her first appearance since her February 8th altercation with then-boyfriend Chris Brown on the chorus for Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 single “Run This Town.” Rihanna also appeared onstage for the first time since the Brown assault at Jay-Z’s September 11th benefit concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden, then three nights later on the debut episode of The Jay Leno Show. Some vendors claim Rihanna’s next LP will come out on November 23rd release, but early 2010 seems like a more likely destination.

I love how her producers try to pass off Rihanna as someone who’s involved in the creation of her music. “When she doesn’t like something she’ll let you know. When she likes something she’ll let you know as well,”. “On one track she came up with some cool melodies and cool ideas, the kind of vibe she wanted. This album for her is just about what she likes and what she’s into and what she wants. If she’s not into the vibe she’ll be like, ‘Nope, I don’t think it’s for me.’ ” Dude, please. Unless she writes her own songs, or at least plays an instrument on them or produces a track, she is not an artist, just a muppet created by her record label to sell records with her sex appeal, because she has no talent. The same tired formula for the past ten years, that began with Britney Spears. And labels wonder why people aren’t buying records anymore. On another note, it’d be nice if Rihanna stopped stealing Grace Jones’ look.

Pslightly Psycho | 9/23/2009, 12:58 pm EST

any of those “big beats” coming courtesy of Chris Brown? Oh that’s right: he is supposed to stay away from Rhi for “beat”-ing her the last time.

Krazie Eyez | 9/23/2009, 4:24 pm EST

I’m sure she knows all about a big beat.

Barbadian | 9/25/2009, 1:14 pm EST

to all the haters who have issues with Rihanna……go take a leap…off a cliff or something……bunch a dotish, want noticing, delinquent losers.

it is a shame when the music industry uses a person’s life experiences for instance rihanna’s altercation with cb and think the public will feel sympathetic towards her and buy her album…the fact is rihanna is not a headliner, she just got lucky with a couple of good songs…and for her to gag herself with not saying a thing about that incident…to me is somewhat selfish…like JZ said she could have been a hero for some young ladies, and grow from her experience but the fact is that that is the type of person she is a provoking violent person…look at her record in barbados…she is not a saint…she ought to be ashamed of herself..i have no respect for her anymore…i was almost a fan until this happened, she is damaging herself each day she wears that gag, and that shhhh tatoo.

RiR! | 9/27/2009, 8:51 pm EST

To all them haters: FUCK OFF!!!! =]

SeeCB | 9/28/2009, 5:49 pm EST

Typical Haters, single ,poor, kids from different guys and think they have a shot with Chris Brown.

AAliyahCoppycats | 9/29/2009, 2:07 pm EST

They all tryed to copy the late AAliyah but it’s funny because nobody could!!One thing about AAliyah she could sing and dance It did not star with Britanny spears..The sexy music and unique dance started with AAliyah and her image and swag can never be duplicated..Rihanna does have more talent that Britanny though..R kelly don’t realize what he created…
