On the Charts: Four Decades Later, The Beatles Are Still Number One

9/16/09, 11:39 am EST

The Big News: Jay-Z may have won the battle of the charts, but the Beatles won the war. Jigga’s The Blueprint 3 debuted at Number One on Billboard’s Top 200 with 476,000 copies sold, giving him one of the best first weeks in 2009, but the Fab Four were the big story as their remastered catalog combined to sell 626,000 albums 40 years after the majority of the LP were originally released, according to Nielsen SoundScan. BP3 marks Jay-Z’s 11th trip to the top of the charts, meaning he has surpassed Elvis Presley to become the solo artist with the most Number One albums of all time. Blueprint 3 also improved on the 425,000 copies American Gangster sold in its debut in 2007.

Like Michael Jackson’s albums, the Beatles weren’t eligible for the Top 200, but on the Comprehensive Albums chart, the Fab Four simply dominated as fans rushed to hear the band’s remastered work. 1969’s Abbey Road was the week’s Number Three album, selling 89,000 copies. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band finished at Number Five with 74,000 copies en route to passing the quadruple platinum mark. In total, the Beatles had five albums in the Comprehensive’s Top 10, and nine in the Top 20. On top of that, the complete Beatles in Stereo box set sold 26,000 copies to land Number 15 on the Top 200 where it was eligible as a new release, while the Beatles in Mono moved 12,000 boxes to finish at 40. It goes without saying that the Beatles also put to an end Michael Jackson’s ownership of the Catalog Albums chart.

Debuts: Amid the Fab Four and Jigga sales explosion, Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II boasted big numbers at Number Four, pushing 68,000 copies to give the Chef his best numbers since the album’s predecessor also debuted at Number Four 14 years ago. Also cracking the Top 10 were the newly split Brooks & Dunn’s #1s… And Then Some at Five and Boys Like Girls’ Love Drunk at Eight. Phish’s comeback album Joy sold 29,000 copies on its way to Number 13.

Last Week’s Heroes: The influx of Beatles and Jay-Z and a 71 percent sales dip pushed last week’s champ Whitney Houston and her I Look To You to Number Three on the Top 200 with an additional 88,000 copies. Miley Cyrus’ Time of Our Lives EP held strong at Number Two for a second consecutive week with another 120,000 copies. After a surprising debut at Number Four last week, reality set in for Insane Clown Posse’s Bang! Pow! Boom! fell to 43.

Next week, we’ll find out if Twilight nation can band together to help Muse’s The Resistance fight off Jay-Z and the Beatles.

So what was #1 on the comprehensive chart? And which Beatle sold the least? My guess is Yellow Submarine.

Brad | 9/16/2009, 12:16 pm EST

Why won’t news articles like this point out that the Beatles didn’t sell 646,000 but actually, they sold WELL OVER A MILLION. The box sets (16 albums for the stereo and 11 for the mono) counted as one sale, instead of 16 and 11 respectively. When counted properly, the number is around 1.1 million.

StrummerJones | 9/16/2009, 12:25 pm EST

No. That’s not how it works at all. When they sell a box set of x albums, they count it as x albums sold.

This even happens if it’s just a double album.

BC | 9/16/2009, 1:25 pm EST

sad to see that the Beatles couldn’t even touch Michael Jackson’s numbers from the weeks right after his death.
I went out and bought everything from Help! to Abbey Road.

Jim | 9/16/2009, 1:54 pm EST

Strummer, not in this case. Box sets are only counting worldwide as “1″ unit each – per billboard and soundscan. This will hurt published sales numbers as the box sets are nearly the biggest sellers worldwide

Jim | 9/16/2009, 2:00 pm EST

BC – how do you get that – they sold nearly 1.2 million albums in less than a week – the box sets are 240 bucks a piece – in just 4 countries, Australia, USA, UK and Japan they sold near 2.5 million copies …..and nobody died…the remasters will be enough to make them the biggest seller in the usa in the last decade..over Eminem with 32 million plus and the second biggest selling recording artist since 1991 with over 60 million plus sold…not bad for a band that has had coffe together for 40 years……..what about MJ king

brad ace | 9/16/2009, 2:36 pm EST

the beatles rule

Das | 9/16/2009, 2:47 pm EST

Mj is still the top selling artist of 2009, with less albums than the Beatles. Mj was still recording until he died. Why can’t the Beatles come out with new material? MJ is the king.

Bob | 9/16/2009, 2:54 pm EST

Yeah, but the Beatles sold so many copies without anyone passing away to spurn the sales; they were just mere reissues. That’s saying something. How many copies of a remastered Thriller would have sold had Michael not, sadly, passed away…?

daniel | 9/16/2009, 3:05 pm EST

who cares – just relax and enjoy the music

artificialred | 9/16/2009, 3:15 pm EST

That is pretty good for The Beatles, since you couldn’t even find a copy of the entire box set at any Best Buy in the country. Had to order it online and will have to wait three to four weeks for it to ship!!

artificialred | 9/16/2009, 3:17 pm EST

MJ is not shit compared to the Beatles. As far as I know, no Beatle was ever suspected of child molestation!

Jim | 9/16/2009, 3:24 pm EST

Das says…”Why can’t the Beatles come out with new material? Uh…could it be because 2 are dead? Its funny MJ fans (and I think he was great) just dont get it….the Beatles have been selling incredible amounts of records worldwide for nearly 45 years. Even todays “current artists” have a hard time keeping up with their overall current sales – when anything comes out by them. Thank God MJ is selling some records this year….he hasnt sold anything for the previous 10. Thats why they are jumping on everything sellable by MJ NOW. Strike while the iron is hot (his death)….becuse the emotions of will eventually die out.

Weffie | 9/16/2009, 3:53 pm EST

It’s nice to see people getting excited about music again – whether it’s the Beatles, MJ or JayZ. Actually last year when MJ released Thriller last year he topped the Comprehensive charts. And Number Ones was already Platinum. Now it will be 3x platinum. MJ was still a top seller throughout the years and I think he will continue to be since the younger generation is becoming aware of his music. Truth is, people like myself forgot how good his music is. It’s timeless. The Beatles are amazing, but I do feel the music has become outdated. However, there are enough baby boomers to make these huge sellers.

Black Hole Sun | 9/16/2009, 5:02 pm EST

Beatles= 1 billion albums sold worldwide.

MJ= 750 million albums sold worldwide.

The Beatles are the act with the most album sales ever. I think MJ is third, behind Elvis or something, but still nobody can complain.

don | 9/16/2009, 6:10 pm EST

It says something about the dire state of current music when a studio band from the dark ages sells more than any recent acts. Nostalgia has gone too far, Beatle’s albums are heavy on filler, what’s the big deal about them anyway.

West Archer | 9/16/2009, 6:39 pm EST

The way I see it; Beatles and MJ both suck. It’s funny that you guys are dividing into camps over who sold more, whereas you should be focusing on the music.

However, both of their music sucks IMO so I’m really just posting this to say how much I am lol’ing at you guys.

Sealed | 9/16/2009, 6:48 pm EST

The big deal is that they’re not an embarrassment to music like Miley Cyrus or the Jonas Brothers. 40 years from now, will anybody care about those talentless hacks?

Joe Puma | 9/16/2009, 8:06 pm EST

Isn’t it great when quality acts like the Beatles can still dominate the charts?Taste isn’t dead after all, though sadly John and George are.The remasters are fantastic, and worthy of all the attention they’ve been getting. What’s left of the record business should show more patience in the young acts of today instead of discarding them at the drop of a hat.Maybe there’s a future chart-dominator out there that needs more than one disc to show what they can do.The Beatles are an inspiration for musicians of all ages, and something tells me all the renewed hype and attention for their music might just influence another generation of talent that can save the music world. In the meantime, let’s enjoy the magic of audio technology that makes it sound like “Revolver” is being recorded right in your car or living room.

Jobe | 9/16/2009, 8:32 pm EST

The Beatles are the greatest band ever simple as.

Jimmy K | 9/16/2009, 8:42 pm EST

Dan,
You’re right about one thing, though – the dire state of today’s Auto-tuned, ProTooled musical crap. It puts into perspective just what amazing records the Beatles’ post-1965 catalogues were – genre-busting technological marvels give what they had to work with in the studio, and virtual re-inventions with each sucedding album.

tylor | 9/16/2009, 11:21 pm EST

the beatles rule!!! most albums ever sold. and back then they didn’t have good technology to clean up the voices and stuff.(like actors lip schyn and stuff) 40+ yearslater and still selling. how many MJ games have they come out with or gaes with MJ songs? and how many Beatles songs were redone by someone else later?

Weegie | 9/16/2009, 11:44 pm EST

Bug music !!!! “And she said yeah yeah yeah ! And they said yeah yeah yeah ! Wooooo !”

Smitty | 9/16/2009, 11:58 pm EST

For chart-counting purposes, yes box sets only go as 1 unit. But for RIAA certification purposes, each box counts as the number of discs contained. The stereo box already has close to enough to be considered a gold album in its own right.

The King | 9/17/2009, 12:06 am EST

The only reason the beatles have sold 1 billion records and MJ 750 million is because the beatles had almost a 20 year head start….in a few decades with thriller still selling like hotcakes, MJ will surpass the beatles…its inevitable…sorry to inform all you aging 60+ year old beatles fans but MJ is more popular with todays younger generation than the 4 mophead scousers

GoTerps | 9/17/2009, 12:31 am EST

This isn’t Beatles related, but it is RIAA related. Can someone please explain to me how The Who’s “Who’s Next” has been stuck at 3 million units sold since 1993. With all of their recent touring, continued airplay, and the album’s recognition as one of the best of all time, what’s going on? Do certain acts stop participating with RIAA?!

cupid | 9/17/2009, 1:36 am EST

Das, you are an idiot. Considering 1/2 of the Beatles are indeed dead, it would make it kind of hard to produce new music as “The Beatles”.

brett | 9/17/2009, 2:19 am EST

The King: your delusions are amusing. Nobody, not Michael Jackson or anybody else, will ever surpass the Beatles.

jr. | 9/17/2009, 3:21 am EST

While MJ was on career life support for years – he lived off fortunes from Beatles songwriting catalog!
The Beatles 14 disc recorded legacy was made in 6-7 years and has topped the catalog chart on several other occasions and 40years. The reissues even competed for $$ against RockBand: Beatles and still sold that incredible amount.
MJ -(after nearly 10 J5/solo) with only 4 “adult” solo discs- took that long between his last 2 not so Thriller cds and he mostly didn’t write his own material – check the creds on Thriller & Off (Rod Temperton & pros wrote most the hits)….and how many of those J5/early records have been out of print for years (most)…0 Beatles out-print ever.
Look no further than RS own Top 100 lists…Geatest Albums- Beatles 8/MJ 2…Greatest Songs- Beatles 10/MJ 1

jr. | 9/17/2009, 3:28 am EST

oh yeah, MJ could dance (that’s what his legacy – is) ….but so could Ringo!

Cheesecrop | 9/17/2009, 7:03 am EST

I guess I should feel thrilled about this, but I don’t. I mean, all this is about is re-issues. The same thing happened when the Beatles were first released on CD. Everyone ran out and bought the albums over time, but there wasn’t as much a fuss about it then. Why now?

Everything I just wrote about the Beatles, in relation to Michael Jackson – ditto.

I’m glad that they’ve cleaned up the albums even more than previously, but overall this is really far from a huge story. I expect the Beatles to sell (in this case, sell again). Care to tell me something about the music world I don’t know?

kevin | 9/17/2009, 10:26 am EST

For those of you who do not get why The Beatles, keep selling, you need some musiclessons. All of their music paved the way for modern music. Hell, I think Lennon’s Give Piece A Chance was the first Rap song I ever heard lol! Their music is perfect, clever, classy with a timeless appeal. They pushed the boundries of music way further than MJ or anyone else for that matter. I did actally get Thriller & Off the Wall & love em both, but they sound very 80’s MJ was a great tallent, but he never really pushed the boudaries musically. Every album from Thriller onwards had a very similar sound. You also have to consider that Paul McCartney is the most successful songwriter in history period. When you talk about Beatles sales figures, they were only really together and recording as a group for 8 years! You also have to consider that this does not include solo efforts I read somwhere that you could safely add another 400 million plus for solo relases. Also it does not include the many hit singles etc they wrote for others Even MJ Finally, it is not just baby boomers that are pushing the sales through the roof. One of Austrailias largest CD retailers has said the buying public ranges mainly from around 17 to 50. If you don’t get it by now, you never will.

Chris | 9/17/2009, 10:35 am EST

According the riaa.com The Beatles have sold 170 million albums in the U.S. and Michael Jackson has sold 61.5 million. Of course the totals will go up once their new sales are added. If Michael has “only” sold 61.5 million in the U.S. then how in the world has he sold 750 million albums worldwide as someone else has claimed? It is impossible. Peace.

Edz | 9/17/2009, 11:49 am EST

Someone asked why don’t The Beatles release something new… hello? Lennon has been gone for almost 30 years and Harrison has also passed away. But McCartney still does great work and Ringo releases a record from time to time.

There will never be another Beatles. It isn’t because there aren’t creative musicians out there but it’s because the industry has changed. You’d never get a record like Abby Road ever again. An album with a psychedelic track like Come Together, then the romantic “Something” and then whimsical “Octopus’ Garden.” The record industry wants profanity laced political rants, steamy sex you up songs, and ballads that are as heartfelt as a generic Hallmark Card. There is no room anymore for art. That is why there are no more Beatles, Pink Floyd’s, Iron Maidens, Michal Jacksons, Rush’s, etc… Just more pop country artist, hip hop wonders claiming to be the greatest rapper ever, and nu-metal scremo bands. There is no room for diversity when there are dollars at stake.

Technology changes and it would be amazing to see what the Beatles and George Martin could do with Pro-Tools, sim insturments, auto tune. But they would still create a wide variety of eclectic music. That is why they still sell, great songs. You’d think the genius that are watching the music industry crumble around them would get a clue, but they’re too busy spinning that staged Kayne rant into more publicity and sales for him and Swift to figure out too much of the same thing is no good.

Ricky | 9/17/2009, 1:48 pm EST

I think it’s dorky to compare Michael Jackson and The Beatles. They both made fantastic songs. Just enjoy the music, people.

I’m also giving props to Jay-Z. I guess everything about him is so overexposed that other things like him having more number one albums than Elvis get overlooked.

I’m reading all these comments ragging on them all, but hey, I like a world where I can listen to great songs by Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Elvis and Jay-Z. All are great to me.

jpgr | 9/17/2009, 2:14 pm EST

don, west archer, et al:

I feel sorry for you that you don’t get The Beatles. As the Rolling Stone album guide once said “not liking the Beatles is as perverse as not liking the sun.” I’d go further and say if you’ve listened to the Beatles and don’t like them, you don’t know much about music.

Finally, for whoever said the Beatles albums have a lot of filler – it’s only filler compared to their better songs. Anybody else in the 60’s would have been considered great if they put out an album as good as a collection of Beatles filler.

Fail | 9/17/2009, 4:14 pm EST

We will never see anything like this again.

The Beatles rule. Not bad for a band that broke up almost 40 years ago.The reason they are still doing well is that people are still discovering them. There music is so powerful. How many other bands are going to be remembered as having a major influence on music another 40 years from now?

Beatles Sales Around The World

With more than week of Beatles remasters back in stores, global sales for the catalogue exceeded $2 million in the first five days. Here is a summary of The Beatles remasters sales from around the world:

US: During the first five days of release, consumers purchased more than one million copies of re-mastered Beatles titles, and the individual albums and boxed sets debuted strongly across multiple Billboard charts.

On Billboard’s Comprehensive Albums chart, which lists the most popular album releases in the US, including current and catalogue titles, The Beatles set a new record for the
most simultaneous titles by a single artist (18), including five of the top 10 and nine of the top 20.

On the Pop Catalog chart, The Beatles achieved another new Billboard chart first for the most simultaneous titles in the top 50 (16), a record they previously set themselves with
12 titles in December 1995. The Beatles have nine of the chart’s top 10 titles, and all 14 re-mastered CDs are in the top 20, led by ‘Abbey Road’ at number one, 40 years after its original release in 1969, and ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ at number two.

On the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, ‘The Beatles’ stereo boxed set debuted at number 15, and ‘The Beatles in Mono’ limited edition boxed set debuted at number 40.

UK: In last week’s chart the Beatles had four titles in the top 10, seven in the top 40 and sixteen in the top 75, including both the stereo and mono boxed, as well as 2000’s ‘Beatles 1’ compilation. This set a new record for the most simultaneous albums in the UK charts according to the UK Official Charts Company. In this week’s UK chart The Beatles have 13 albums in the top 75. A further 84,000 CDs were sold last week, bringing their total sales of the re-masters to over 354,000 in 11 days and their total UK sales this decade to 6,755,000.

Japan: All 14 re-mastered titles and boxed sets debuted in the top 25 of the international chart, including seven of the top 10, led by the stereo boxed set at number two, the mono
boxed set at number three, ‘Abbey Road’ at four and ‘Let It Be’ at six. Across all titles and boxed sets, more than 840,000 albums were purchased by consumers in Japan in the first three days of sales.

Australia: The Beatles have 14 titles in the current chart, including the ‘1’ compilation.

Canada: The Beatles have 15 of the top 20 catalogue titles including all of the top 11. The stereo boxed set is a new entry in the current albums chart at number four, the highest debut for a boxed set in Canada since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking sales. Cumulative sales across all titles were just under 160,000 over the counter.

France: All 14 of the re-mastered titles and boxed sets entered the latest album chart, including three in the top 10, led by ‘Abbey Road’ at number four, a new record for the most
original studio albums in the French album chart in one week.

History Of POP Music

“Despite A Career Of Only 8 Years – 1962/1970 – The Beatles Became The Best-Selling In The History Of The Twentieth Century.”

Pete
Townsend along with John Bonham, John Paul Jones and David Gilmore played on 2 songs on the last Wings album Back To The Egg that came out in 1979 . They also all played with Paul and Wings in the last Wings concerts in December 1979.

Pete also along with Phil Collins who is also a big Beatles fan since he was 13 in the concert scene in the Beatles film A Hard Day’s Night, played on Paul’s 1986 album Press To Play.

And I have found over 50 former Beatles haters on different message boards who are now big Beatles fans, many call them The Greatest Rock Band Ever and most say they now think they were brilliant song writers. I didn’t communicate with these people, but they said in their posts that they hadn’t even heard most of their songs and albums, and had inaccurate misperceptions of them like the ridiculous one that they ever were a “boy band.” Which besides knowing even most of their music and knowing their history knows is totally false.

Last year a musician posted on some message board about the new John Lennon biography, and he said watch The Beatles Anthology video series and learn how truly immensely talented this band was.

Most people don’t hate The Beatles in the first place and people don’t usually go from hating a band to loving them, so it just goes to show how great and timeless their music really is/was!

I once found a post a few years ago of a 35 year old musician in Jamaica who said on his blog that when he was younger and a big Who fan he used to think The Beatles were overrated, but that he did a 300 degree turn around and he said he now truly believes that The Beatles were the greatest rock band ever.

And a large poll by PEW Research at random of over 1,0000 people last month found 45% of people ages 16-29 say they like The Beatles a lot and 81% like them and they were found most popular in all age groups surveyed!

The were also the most listened to music artists on Last.FM in 2006,2007 and 2008! And They had over 2,000 members of their fan group on Last.FM in 2007 The Rolling Stones only had 80 members of theirs.

They are also very popular on YouTube and Rate Your Music where many guys girls in their teens and 20’s call them The Greatest Band Ever!

Also,

on a fan site for the rock group Yes, called, Yesfans.com ( who are also big Beatles fans themselves and they recorded and played live several Beatles songs and member Rick Wakeman did a whole Beatles tribute album in 2000) they had a topic called Are The Beatles Overrated? from 2004-2008 and over 70% of the Yes fans voted the first choice, No Of Course Not They Were Not Overrated How Can You Even Ask This Question.

And one of the Yes fans posted in early 2008,” The Greatest Band of all time overrated? Phuck no!”

And another Yes fan quoted him and said I second what he said! Another Yes fan quoted his own post from a year before when he had said he thought The Beatles were overrated and he now quoted his old post with an I’m stupid emoticon and he said how could I have been so stupid,of course The Beatles are not overrated.

Also, guitarist Frank Marino of the hard rock group Mahogany Rush said in several online interviews that he hates The Rolling Stones but he likes The Beatles,Jimi Hendrix, and The Doors etc. And Dave Navarro of the rock group Jane’s Addiction said in Guitar World in 1991 and 1996 that he has always hated The Rolling Stones and he will never play one of their records.

Also there used to be an online interview with Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts from a 1973 Magazine called Zig Zag,and the interview was called,The Drinking Man’s Rolling Stone. He says in this interview that The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were a lot alike as people and were friends. He also said what made The Beatles so great is that they made one great single and great album after the next!

It’s not perfectly fine as The Rolling Stone Album Guide said, not liking The Beatles is as perverse as not liking the sun. And Ozzy Osbourne said not loving The Beatles is like not loving oxogen. He called them The Greatest Band To Ever Walk The Earth and called Paul McCartney a music genuis in a 2002 Bender Magazine interview.

And a guy who runs Keno’s Classic Rock n Roll Site and who runs a Rolling Stones and John Lennon fan site says damn The Beatles were one great group and he said in his great review of The Beatles 1962-1966 Red album, that if you don’t love or at least like The Beatles and their music then you are not a true rock fan and more than likely will never get it.

I made a typing mistake, I meant the PEW research survey was of over 1,000.

But I also forgot to mention that the average of the Last.FM Beatles fan group is 22 and there are more guys than girls and they are from all over the world, and they now have 10,478 members many in their teens and 20’s guys and girls!

Also,

I have never heard The Beach Boys(who were really a pop band but Brian Wilson is very talented)played on any classic rock stations only oldies stations but my classic rock station plays a lot of Beatles. Infact a 48 year old DJ who is a huge Beatles fan has hosted a 2 hour Sunday morning radio show,Breakfast With The Beatles for 7 years now.

Even The Beatles early music had a much harder electric guitar sound than The Beach Boys and all of The Beach Boys radio hits were beach surfing music.

When The Beatles wrote, played and recorded John’s great early rocker, You Can’t Do That recorded in February 1964, Paul’s great blues rocker from the Fall of 1964, She’s A Woman, John’s I Feel Fine with a prominent rock guitar riff and the first recorded use of feedback guitar, and Paul’s screaming hard rocker especially for the times I’m Down from mid 1965, what were The Beach Boys writing? Beach Surfing hits!

And on a Bob Dylan fan site Expecting Rain posted last year nobody on there liked The Beach Boys except 1 person, and most said they never liked The Rolling Stones that much either, but many said they think The Beatles were the most, innovative, creative, and prolific band ever and that it is amazing how much great music of all different styles they wrote and played, and recorded in just an 8 year recording career.

And many Michael Jackson songs are what sound dated disco sounding songs. Most of The Beatles music *doesn’t* sound dated, only I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You sound like 1963 but they are still good songs and were new and different from anything at the time.

But a lot of even their 1964 songs including many great album tracks that weren’t released as hits like Paul’s And I Love Her,Things We Said Today,John’s If I Fell,I’ll Be Back his great rocker You Can’t Do That, etc etc don’t sound dated except for the primitive limited recording technology they had back then, but most of their songs sound like great timeless music not from any time period! That’s why they still sell well with people of *all* ages.

When The Beatles Anthology’s came out in 1995 25 years after they broke up,and went right to #1 around the world a rock radio DJ said that 40% of the people buying them were teenagers! And it was the same with The Beatles 1 CD 30 years after they broke up!

The Beatles have sold more records than any other artist or interpret in history, BUT They never sold a billion. Thats bulshit. The real number is 400 millionm or even some more, but not a billion. This is just the bullshit from the record company. Same as the 750 M of JAckson. in fact, JAckson has sold over 300 M and is only second to the Beatles.

BEETLES MUSIC WILL STILL BE PLAYED WITH SOME FREQUENCY 1,000 YEARS FROM NOW.

Transmit001 | 10/6/2009, 2:24 pm EST

“Reality sets in” for the Insane Clown Posse? dropping to 43? BIG deal. The fact that a band with NO radio or video exposure could shatter your precious little microcosm of “popular” music represents a far more impressive display to me than The Beatles or Michael Jacksons longevity. Fact is, you serve people the same meal enough times and, if they can’t think for themselves, they won’t question their next serving. Insane Clown Posse have beautifully proven that, despite the music industries best efforts (and don’t get me started on TRL’s little crap stunt) ICP will NOT fade, quit or change to conform to “popular” standards… and they STILL keep popping up. Keep ignoring them, every time you do, you just keep proving my point.
