You guys had better make the weekend rock list Beatles albums. You’d better.

And Rubber Soul had better win.

Revolver and White Album > Rubber Soul

StrummerJones:

I agree with you on that. They better have a weekend rock list with the albums.

All the albums are equal. I feel Rubber Soul started the string of their great albums. My pick would go to Sgt. Pepper for #1. I mean, how can you leave out Sgt. Pepper?!

I can’t wait to listen to them.

Revolver I can understand, but The White Album is a bumbling mess.

The remasters are going to be great…but nothing beats vinyl. why not reissue all of them instead of just Abbey Road?

They sound absolutely terrific. All of them. The White Album, in particular, to me, is spectacular. The rockers leap from the speakers…Helter Skelter finally sounds like the heavy monster it is and just how it must have sounded in the studio. The sheer variety of material on that album is unbelievable. It’s impossible to dissect all of the material on each album. Just know that the albums were so well recorded that the remastering makes the details we never heard before jump out at you. And the bottom…Ringo and Paul are great. We can hear Ringo and know that he was/is one excellent drummer. He drives cut after cut after cut. These remastered discs will enhance the Beatles legacy…if it needed that…but it will especially enhance Ringo’s image. He’s gotten a bum rap and has been underrated for years. Now the proof of his excellence is there for all to hear.

They’re all great…and of course sound better than before…but remixing (as in the case of LOVE) would have made this set sound even better…the original mixes are what they are due to the equipment they were using way back when…the remasters are great but not the ultimate set I was hoping for…the music itself is top notch – no one ever topped these guys!

Listened to Abbey Road old and new side by side. The improvement is huge. It is a bit louder a lot clearer, the bottom end is big and well defined. Somehow it feels more personal, I found tears welled up in my eyes when I listened to Something. I’m sure thousand are going through the same experience. The old cd, we decided, may as well be thrown away.

These new CD’s do require a bit of listener readjustment. It’s truly amazing and magical to have these newly remastered recordings, from the best band that ever was!

Remixing would really smack these album tracks up – the remastering process sure did wonders though. Check out “Helter Skelter”- Woah! The Beatles really could rock hard – That’s why The Rolling Stones were afraid of them!!! (Don’t get me wrong – I dig the Stones for their raw edge – but The Beatles were better musicians)

Yes, the new remasters sound better than the old CDs….

But if you already own the original CDs, I honestly don’t think its worth spending $250 to replace the set. It’s better, but its not THAT much better!

A few bonus outtakes added to each disc would have certainly helped. (And bootlegs prove there’s still PLENTY of good stuff in the vaults worth releasing. The Anthology albums only scratched the surface.)

The remasters’ bonus ‘making of’ videos, are just cut-up edits from the Anthology videos… no new content. So if you already have the Anthology DVDs, it’s a waste too.

The Beatles Rock Band game is a lot of fun. But would have benefited from another 20 songs or so. 45 songs, many of which are less than 3 minutes long, is not enough.
