Michael Jackson’s Death Officially Ruled Homicide

Michael Jackson’s death was caused by “acute Propofol intoxication,” the Los Angeles coroner declared today, officially ruling the star’s death at age 50 a homicide. “Benzodiazepine effect” was named as a contributing factor.

Look back at Jackson’s career, in photos.

The office’s statement reads:

The drugs PROPOFOL and LORAZEPAM (Ativan) were found to be the primary drugs responsible for Mr. Jackson’s death.

Other drugs detected were: Midazolam (Versed), Diazepam (Valium), Lidocaine (topical anesthetic) and Ephedrine (used to treat hypotension associated with anesthesia).

In response to the coroner’s announcement, the Jackson family released a statement that reads, “The Jackson family again wishes to commend the actions of the Coroner, the LAPD and other law enforcement agencies, and looks forward to the day that justice can be served.”

Earlier this week, a source told the AP the homicide ruling was imminent. The full contents of the coroner’s report will remain sealed pending the LAPD’s completion of their investigation into Jackson’s June 25th death. Dr. Conrad Murray, the personal physician concert promoter AEG hired to care for the star during his This Is It run of 50 concerts at London’s O2 Arena, remains the focus of the inquiry. As the Los Angeles Times reports, a homicide ruling means the victim died at the hands of another person and does not refer to pending criminal charges. However Dr. Murray has previously been identified as the subject of a manslaughter investigation.

According to search warrants unsealed earlier this week, Murray admitted he had been administering Propofol to Jackson to relieve the star’s severe insomnia. In an attempt to wean the star from his usual 50 mg dose of the drug, Murray lowered the dosage to 25 mg and gave Jackson weaker sedatives. The day Jackson suffered cardiac arrest and died, Jackson demanded his “milk” as he referred to Propofol, and Murray reportedly administered the drug intravenously and left the room to make phone calls. When he returned, Murray told investigators, Jackson was unconscious. The doctor admitted to waiting at least 30 minutes before he alerted a bodyguard to call 911.

Though he spoke with investigators in the days after Jackson’s death, Murray hasn’t submitted to any press interviews or made any public appearances. On August 18th he broke his silence in a YouTube video to thank his friends and supporters for encouraging calls and e-mails.

The severity of Jackson’s dependence on a variety of prescription medications has come to light as the investigation into his death progresses. As Rolling Stone reported, Jackson acquired medicine by using a variety of aliases, including “Omar Arnold.” Jackson’s long history with prescriptions — which is often traced to the injuries incurred when he caught fire while shooting a 1984 Pepsi commercial — could make a manslaughter case more difficult to prove.

WOW this doctor is gonna FRY! I’m NOT sure he’s to blame either. Yes he GAVE the drugs to Jacko BUT, I guarantee that Mikey begged, threatened, and ORDERED the Dr. to do this. These are the actions of an ADICT not a poor victim. Michael Jackson was likely a drug addict who Overdosed. it was just administered by his Dr. Good ridance one gloved reject! Ya got what you deserved.

tricia | 8/28/2009, 5:38 pm EST

Regardless of how it happened this is a tragedy. I hate drugs. It seems the legal ones are so much worse than the “illegal” ones. I have never once heard of anyone dying on pot. Go figure.

trish | 8/28/2009, 5:44 pm EST

no one deserves death. addicts need help. I don’t think the good dr was forced to give him anything…he could have said no and walked away he was a grown man he doesn’t need to take orders from anyone! the people who contributed to his drug misuse could have said no and not give it to him! they are professionals and are trained and when u become a health care professional its like an oathe that you do what’s right for pateints they should help patients get over addictions not contribute to them. he knew the end result of drugging michal jackson up like this would be and continued to give him the drugs. he should be punished for this! michael jackson lost his life…that’s punishment enough…this dr. should pay for his negligence.

Grainne | 8/28/2009, 5:49 pm EST

In all fairness, it really wasn’t in the best interests of the doctor to kill Jackson – what kind of a motive would he have?

mary | 8/28/2009, 6:02 pm EST

It’s bad enough that MJ was given propofol on occasion, but for six weeks? It would seem that the liver and kidneys would be ruined with such frequent use???? What was this Dr. thinking ???? besides $$$$$. MJ needed to be taken to a rehab or somplace where he would be monitored correctly. Even though MJ wanted the propofol it is the MD’s job to say “no”. It would appear that Dr. Murray is an embarrassment to the medical community. Too bad an addicitions team was not involved …they may have saved MJ’s life and we would have still had our MJ with us!

Michelle | 8/28/2009, 6:27 pm EST

to go through with such an inspirational and dedicated life to end like this is just not right….MJ was something out of this world…he was a total angel! this should have never happened! but what can be said and done now? why why….MJ you are truly missed from this world.

George | 8/28/2009, 6:43 pm EST

He was one more talented junkie. The world’s full of them. Not a “saint” or a “sinner”,just a “righteous dope fiend” as we used to say back in the day. He was lucky to have lived as long as he did. Can we just move on folks?

uhhh | 8/28/2009, 6:53 pm EST

Jackson got drugs even if he couldn’t get them get them under the name of Michael Jackson he would go under other guises and bought drugs the doctor is just a scapegoat he just gave drugs that MJ would have taken anyhow

Wacky Jackson | 8/28/2009, 10:36 pm EST

Michael killed himself, maybe not suicide in the conventional sense, but he did it to himself

Larry | 8/28/2009, 11:01 pm EST

I wish that this didn’t happen…I believe those individuals coached into saying that they were molested recanted after Mike’s death. His eccentricity and honesty made him an easy target, and many of his fans, including myself, doubted his innocence.

MJ isn’t an angel in fact the only reason people are feeling bad for him is because they feel bad about having made fun of him and they think if they buy his records and acted like they never insulted him it will cover up all the jokes they made about him

he obviously did molest those kids and he did a lot of creepy things

he isn’t an angel just a very talented singer thats really creepy and a child molester who is only being rememered because he’s dead

Kos | 8/29/2009, 10:12 am EST

Michael I am sorry your life’s journey ended this tragic way. I am reading your book Moonwalk as we speak. Delightful read. In your book written in 1988 you stated your never used drugs, I wonder what happened?

Deborah Ffrench | 8/29/2009, 12:25 pm EST

Er…re what happened since 1988 that drove Michael to take drugs. Let me see…..#?#?! Michael was hounded mercilessly for over 20 yrs by an hostile media and a careerist District Attorney, who after spending millions of taxpayers’ money in 1993 travelling the world to find so-called ‘victims’ – could only produce Evan Chandler. A disgraced ex-dentist and aspiring screenplay writer who had to give his own son drugs before he accused Michael, and this was after Evan had to imprison Jordan by refusing to return him to his mother omne weekend. The unprecedented media scrutiny and suffering Michael endured actually cannot be adequately described here due to lack of space; suffice it to say, the Michael Jackson of 1988 was not the Michael Jackson of 2009. Dr Murray may have been the last one on the scene but he didn’t kill Michael. That began the day Evan realized Michael Jackson was a human lottery ticket. The rest as they say is history……..

Happy Birthday Michael. Those of us who know the truth, know your legacy is immortal and that you will be vindicated in time.

And we are millions.

jesus | 8/29/2009, 12:44 pm EST

are we done talking about michael jackson yet? he stole the beatles music. THAT’S why he’s evil. there’s this massive cover up to make him look like god. i don’t understand. can’t everyone get off his dick now?

Troof | 8/29/2009, 12:45 pm EST

Michael Jackson never touched or thought of children in a sexual way. He was a very rich target for extortion. Sorry, Michael, true genius gets filtered through a lot of people’s eyes as intense jealousy. Not having a childhood and an unhealthy obsession with your appearance resulted in self-inflicted physical trauma. You are and alway will be the greatest musical entertainer of this generation.

ushookme | 8/29/2009, 1:43 pm EST

No matter what kind life he led there is no excuse to abuse drugs like he did. It’s selfishness to the extreme. Poor Michael….he had more than 99.9% than most of the world and his own actions led to his death. It is a tragedy, but not because he was persecuted…the yes people around him share as much blame as he does.

i know he did all those things to those children but he did start our world off with amazing music and amazing new ways to dance. i will remember him for those things- the good things, not the bad and i think everyone who says hes a bad person and glad hes gone for what he did to those kids should stop hating and think of the fantastic music he gave us!

nork | 8/29/2009, 10:50 pm EST

Michael Jackson was a man that had an abnormal childhood due to his being abused by his father and thrust into the spotlight because of his musical abilities. Ultimately, his psychological problems from childhood, his super-sensitivity, his being hounded by the press and the law and others led to his further psychological problems catching up to him and then to his eventual death.
This happens to a lot of people but they just arent famous like MJ.
Its too bad we cant learn something from this, but we wont, the world is what it is.
Personally i dont believe he was a child molester. I think he lived on a different plane of thinking, bolstered by his money, and that got him into trouble, thats all there is with the children thing, that and money grubbers trying to bleed him dry, im sure.
I dont even care for most of his music but he truly was a great artist and entertainer.
Rest in peace Michael Jackson, and may God bless and take care of you better than this world did.
As for the way he died, basically it simply followed a script.

Michael Jackson was and always will be a wonderful spirit who transends what people who never understood him think. He was a very intelligent ,well read man who lost his childhood but never lost his child like innocence and curiousity . This made him a target for cynical money hungry people who saw him not as a human being but as a golden ticket to their own personal fortune. Money was never his motivation even though he was a very financially astute businessman . He had vision and was supremely talented. He championed those with vision and artistic talent and wanted to see those people be they writers, producers ,film makers go beyond their wildest dreams,it was art to him ,he never lost his wonder for his art.He tried to have faith in people ,he cared for those he loved ,he was someone who was fortunate ,he forged the way for others. And this is what made the cynical among this human race of ours want to tear him down.He dared to say heal the world and our children. That makes people uncomfortable because they have to look at themselves. They don’t want to see the good they want the bad. And he was good .Do you think that people loved him because they were blind? it’s because when he was in his element he was amazing and that was infectious it was triumphant. And like in the Mcarthy era anything that was that free ,that exciting ,was regarded as suspicious, had to be reigned in ,for he had to much power over many peoples hearts and so they tried to destroy him with the very thing he loved the most ,the wonder and innocence of children ,the non judgement that all children have and that broke his heart and nearly his spirit. As he loved them and wanted to help.People saw this as strange.tried to make it so.He wanted to protect children as he never was. But they never could deter his fans and people who were his family .and his music will for all time will be as strong and pure as the day he laid down those tracks. He raised wonderful respectful, bright children, who will be his legacy and a credit to him in the future. He was a humanitarian before it was fashionable to be one.He was an insomniac ,which is unfortunate but not a crime and it can make you desperate ,he may have been caught up in the web of too many prescription drugs ,but all drugs can be addictive ,and money can buy you more. But he was human and prone to mistakes like everyone and there are many who are tormented by the lack of sleep ,good judgement and people who care enough to be trustworthy and say no.If he was in the hands of Deepak Chopra he would be alive today ,but he isn’t.We have lost someone who made us for the moment he stepped on stage made us forget for one moment how flawed we are as human beings and how the world in our hands is in danger. For a moment we experienced child like wonder of someone who like Fred Astaire made it look easy and took our breath away. They can’t hurt you anymore Michael. You are safe and you have a home in our hearts.Whereever we go you will be with us. I have never cried so hard and never felt so crushed . We’ve lost a light that shined so brightly. we miss you.We want you back.

I work with doctors, all of whom to a man/woman say, this is the most horrendous drug abuse they HAVE HEARD of. What can be more pathetic than the whole Michael Jackson saga from beginning to end; the King of Junkies living in what has been described as a filthy hospital room, hooked up to his IV drips like some deranged vampire, his pale skin mutilated from his attempts at bleaching himself white (he did not have vitiligio, more lies from the press machine), with his removable nose on the nightstand beside him, dreaming of his big comeback performance… how pathetic… WAIT, even more pathetic, all the people who cannot recognize this evil narcissistic, perverse man who abused every single privilege fame and fortune brought him for what he was and continue to mourn like Jesus himself had died. This man was no kind of good, decent, human being and he got exactly what any human being with a brain and a soul would have known was coming when you abuse life like he did. He got what he deserved.

deborahffrench | 8/31/2009, 10:45 am EST

Yes, Michael was ‘using’ at the end of his life. Has anyone stopped to ask why? He certainly didn’t need an IV to help him sleep during the early years of his career, or maybe this is due to the fact that persecuting Michael Jackson had not yet become the national sport that it did in the 90’s. Conservative America suddenly decided their favourite ‘eccentric’ genius was now a freak, the relentless hounding of Michael(which lasted for over 20 years until his death)had begun. Post-millenium, the hostility of the American and English media towards Michael had warped into a tangible ‘intent- to-harm’ machine, with its own momentum and agenda – ratings. When the careerist District Attorney Tom Sneddon came after him in 1993, he had willing helpers in the media to bait Michael. Sneddon kept them supplied with illegally obtained legal documents and ‘off-record’ information from his department, that made sure profound damage was done to Michael during the first round of allegations. Sneddon spent millions of taxpayers’ money travelling the world to find so-called ‘victims’ but could only produce Evan Chandler – a disgraced ex-dentist and aspiring screenplay writer, who had to give his own son drugs to make him accuse Michael of sexual misconduct – and this was only after Evan had to imprison Jordan by refusing to return him to his mother one weekend. If the lack of credibility of this family had been looked at by the media as a valid, serious question instead of the ferocious fact-building that they indulged in, events may have unfolded very differently. The unprecedented suffering Michael endured while he lived actually cannot be adequately described here due to lack of space; suffice it to say the Michael Jackson of 1988 was not the Michael Jackson of 2009. Dr Murray may have been the last one on the scene but he didn’t kill Michael. That began the day Evan realized Michael Jackson was a human lottery ticket. Those of us who know the truth, know Michael Jackson’s legacy is immortal and he will never be forgotten. And maybe a greater truth is that in the instant we realized he was gone, suddenly he was everywhere. Maybe this is how it always is for legends. Not appreciated in their own time, we miss them and realize what we had when they leave. Michael, for me, was the last and the greatest of them all. I am beyond heartbroken but I know I am not alone in loving Michael – and the gifts he left us.

Anonymous | 8/31/2009, 11:16 am EST

I’m of the opinion, that to judge a man in ignorance is wrong. What we should all remember is that the only true thing we know about celebrities at all is their work. We know them not as human beings, but as talent. Period. Michael Jackson was the epitome of this. His talent was proven in his music, videos and concerts, but every other aspect of his life was never proven good nor evil. Most of the world’s opinion is based upon their interpretation of the so called truth. True, he has been accused of many sinister acts, most underlining was child molestation. And true, he did some good as well, African AIDS relief with “We Are the World.” We do not truly know his motivations behind both of these. But what it all boils down to is the inescapable fact that most of the world did not truly know Jackson as a human being. We knew his celebrity. My opinion of Michael Jackson ends there. I own the Thiller album and I am in awe of his massive talent as a dancer, but I did not know Michael Jackson’s heart. I did not know who he really was so therefore my opinion is extremely limited. For me to say he was guilty or not guilty of these accusations would be asinine. I have no opinion of him as a person, nor do I of any other celebrity. Sure, I have my favorites due to their work. And some may do great things for humanity, but I do not know these people like I know my friends. Therefore we should all take a step back from our crucifixion and adoration of celebrities and judge them on solely upon their work.

pamela Nurse | 8/31/2009, 4:50 pm EST

to anonymous ,Why is it so hard for anyone to believe that Michaels only motivation for doing good works was to genuinely help people. And that’s it .There are so many acts of charity that he did that were huge that we are not able to know about because they were done in private ,away from the public gaze.which is why there is a call by a congresswoman for a humanitarian bill in honor of MJ .Do you think they would do that if he just did a few??? .How cynical have people become?? he did it from the heart. To show an example of what we could all do regardless.

Pamela Nurse | 8/31/2009, 5:09 pm EST

And we know about him as a human being by the words of those who were close to him and who he entrusted with his time and love .That brings him to life as more than a celebrity. These people speak of him because they are sharing anecdotes of a friend that they loved.you can tell the ones that are genuine there is a lot of love there.not the salacious scandals and allegations of those who never loved him at all .

realchild7 | 9/1/2009, 7:36 am EST

Why is Michael Jacksons death suddenly become a judgment. Have you become a traitor like judas iscariot? have you aloud satan to enter into your heart? Did you really know Michael Jackson’s and his families lives? or did you only know them by the media, press, and the tabloids? Were you there face to face to see Michael do sexual things to those children! If not, why are you judging this man! In the Holy Bible, Jesus said”let he that is without sin cast the first stone”. Are you without sin? How many skeletons are in your closet that the world does not know about?
Jesus said judge not or you will be judged. The same God that judges Michael Joseph Jackson is the same God that will judge you in the last days. What you need to remember are all of the things that you do wrong in your life and just know that God AlMighty, The Most High, watches you too.So watch how you wish death and destuction on someone elses life. Remember that tomorrow is not promised to you either.

zeppelinrules19 | 9/3/2009, 12:57 pm EST

A reply to realchild7, its great that you’re defending Michael, and you’re right, no one ever proved he was guilty, but i didnt get this newsletter to hear you ramble on about god and all that, so save it for a religious website. On another topic, I hope doc death gets whats comin’ to him, to kill a star like that, they should fry him, but they won’t, it can’t be called murder, it’s more like manslaughter.

CJW-MS | 9/4/2009, 10:30 am EST

PLEASE STOP ALL THE HATE! STOP THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS, STOP,STOP,STOP! HAVE NOT THE PEOPLE DONE ENOUGH! LOOK INTO YOUR MIRROR, HAVE YOU NOT SINNED! ARE YOU PERFECT! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE THAT ONLY GOD, KNOWS! PLEASE ALLOW THIS MAN, AND HIS CHILDREN AND FAMILY TO MOVE ON, ENOUGH PAIN. AS AMERICANS IT IS TIME TO STOP HURTING OTHERS, TIME TO ATTEMPT TO HELP OUR OWN AND REALLY MEAN IT. IF WE CAN NOT SAY ANYTHING DECENT ABOUT THIS MAN AND/OR HIS CHILDREN AND FAMILY MEMBERS, LET US NOT SAY ANYTHING. TRY TO REMEMBER THAT YOU, WHO EVER YOU ARE, MUST ANSWER TO GOD ALSO, NO MATTER YOUR FAITH, OR HOW YOU SERVE, YOU WILL REAP ALL THAT YOU DO..
REST IN PEACE MICHEAL, I LOVE YOU, FOR JUST BEING YOU! TO THE JACKSON FAMILY, AND MJ’S CHILDREN, KNOW THAT MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU, AND MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BE WITH YOU AND HELP YOU TO LOOK PAST IGNORANT, STUPID, LOW-LIFE, PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO HEART OR HUMANENESS, KNOW THAT THE ENTIRE WORLD IS NOT LIKE THIS, AND GOD WILL KEEP YOU STRONG. YOUR LOVED ONE WILL BE MISSED BUT YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE HIS BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES!

i firmly believe that michael jackson died of the medicines he’s taking to maintain his body and all physically and mentally. also, i blame all those medical doctors who does not know how to say “NO” to michael’s medical demands. saying “NO” no matter how much he pays could have save him. i regret very much about his early demise.

shade in blue | 9/4/2009, 4:32 pm EST

i wish to convey to all michael’s j. family specially his three children my deepest sympathy and condolences. i know someday soon, one of michael’s kids will be famous as he. it will be great to see one of his kids do the “moon walk” again. it wont be long.

nikisha -Bahamas | 9/4/2009, 8:35 pm EST

wow how time fly! i remember being a little girl sitting in front of thr t.v screen learning how to do the moonwalk loving Micheal and everything that he stands for. In this, people say wat they want never knowing the hurt they place on the persons that they speak about. Micheal understand it all. He indured heartache and pain from the people he loved and cared for the most. Persons like money hungry folks who lie to get wat they want. Not caring that they are destroying someones life by there lies this is what he indured. From a little child to the man he was before he departed this world. MJ i love you and it hurts me to hear folks speak of you in this way. Because i know what you stand for and i know this through ur music if everyone would just task a look at your self find out whats wrong about your self and try to be a better person this world would be a better place. Thats all he was trying to teach us we are all one people no matter the colour of our skin, how we talk, were we live and who we are. We were all made by the Lord God Almighty and we are his children.Micheal i miss and love u but jesus loves you best!!! R.I.P Micheal Joseph Jackson

All of these conspiracy theorists that state the Mossad and the Jews killed Michael Jackson are totally anti-semitic and a lynch squad. These idiots are still parroting on and on about how they think that now that Michael Jackson’s death has officially been called a homicide, that they freaked out and arranged to pay off Dr. Conrad Murray an obscene amount of money to take the fall, like some “patsy” like Lee Harvey Oswald, with the promise that they would line up the best lawyers/corrupt judges to preside over his case in Los Angeles, thus ensuring that he would ultimately walk away from the whole thing with no real jail time. These racists and anti-semites go on an on about how it was actually Dr. Neil Ratner, a member of the Mossad’s “sayanim” network who actually did the killing because Michael Jackson dared to perform and practice the very anti-semitic song “They Don’t Care About Us” tons of times days before he was killed, against the wishes and threats by the Anti-Defamation League ten years ago, and against the Jewish communities’ warnings to him to never sing that song again, every few years. What a bunch of racist myopic losers.

Deborahffrench | 9/6/2009, 9:03 am EST

What did Michael want to escape from?

For over 20 years, Michael’s character has been attacked by two formidable fronts. A hysterical media – thinking they had the biggest Jekyll / Hyde story of the century, went after Michael without observation of facts or motive. Warped by their pursuit of ratings into a tangible ‘ intent-to-harm ‘ machine, the tabloid, and later, mainstream press and television networks, together with Tom Sneddon (who unofficially ‘ fed ‘ the media with illegally obtained legal documents and ‘ off-record ‘ quotes,) systematically eroded Michael Jackson’s mental, physical and emotional health and profoundly damaged his once stratospheric career. Now routinely spoken about in the English and American press as a
‘ drug addict,’ Michael may well have had existing limiting tendencies, but he was most certainly ‘ helped ‘ along his way into self-destructive, chronic dependency. I refer readers to read Brian Oxman’s article in the Huffington Post and Thomas Mesereau’s public statements. Both articulate and intelligent men of known integrity, they knew Michael personally and were privy to the details of the tumultous circumstances of his life from 1993 onwards. Both have gone on record to verify that both sets of child molestation allegations against Michael were completely false. All over the world there are millions of fans (and non-fans) who have watched Michael’s embattled journey for over 20 years, that need to know there is something constructive they can do now that will make a difference.

Please contact either / or all of these: Thomas Mesereau, Brian Oxman, Aphrodite Jones, Geraldo, Oprah Winfrey, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee and Spike Lee by email or letter, stating in an articulate, measured way your support for either Resolution 600 and/or your wider desire to be a part of the growing worldwide movement for Michael’s name to be decisively vindicated. These advocates need to know their continuing efforts are supported by public opinion and they need your help. A simple google of any of their names will direct you to either their office locations or bring up their email addresses. I think it’s also worth nothing at this point during the early 90’s, while Tom Sneddon was spending millions and using valuable Californian police manpower travelling the world actively searching for ‘ victims ‘ of Michael Jackson, a young Jaycee Dugard was abducted in his jurisdiction – her captivity would last 18 years. I do not believe it is an academic question to now ask whether an inquiry as to whether Sneddon’s persisent attempts to prosecute the then, ‘ biggest pop star on the planet ‘ clouded his judgement as to deciding the best way of allocating taxpayer’s resources, and it remains to be seen whether this becomes a matter for informed public debate.

To truly understand the context of Michael Jackson’s death,it is necessary to see it within the context of his life. For over 25 years from 1993, Michael was subjected to accusations of child molestation by Tom Sneddon and the (mostly)American media. Thinking they had the biggest Jekyll/Hyde story of the century, a ratings-obsessed press went after Michael without observation of facts or motive, exerting tangible ‘intent-to-harm’ in the process. First, the tabloids and on-line sites such as Smoking Gun speculated endlessly about the 1993 allegations, this would then be picked up by the mainstream press and TV networks. Together with Sneddon – who unoffically
‘fed’ the media with illegally obtained legal documents and ‘off-record’ quotes, these formidable pressures systematically eroded Michael’s mental, physical and emotional health and profoundly damaged his once stratospheric career. Now routinely spoken about in the news as a drug addict, Michael may well have had existing limiting tendencies, but he was most certainly ‘helped’ along his way to chronic dependency. By the way, if anyone cares about the truth…..
‘They don’t care about us’ is a song about anti -rascism. If you actually look at the lyrics it is quite clear. And the idea of people issuing warnings to other people for singing a non-offensive song, I find highly offensive in itself. My racial identity, I hear you ask? British Jewish and very proud of it; but not so proud that I can’t see this was a lot of hype by an over-sensitive lobby to what was essentially a song against racial stereotyping. We are so quick to condemn, and then we wonder why art says next to nothing anymore!

Paul Foster | 9/13/2009, 9:53 am EST

Hey Victor, you sound like the myopic one to me mate. Michael wasn’t a racist. He had friends from every race and to discriminate would have gone against everything he believed in. Just because someone calls someone a racist doesn’t mean it’s true, or does that mean I can call you one too. Without being overly rude about it, I have to say there is a lot of hate in your post, in the words you use and in your accusation – which by the way is slander, since you didn’t know Mike personally – did you?
