Warrant Reveals Jackson Likely Died After Dose of Propofol; Coroner Declares Death Homicide

Though Michael Jackson’s toxicology report remains sealed, an unsealed search warrant from the raid of Jackson’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray’s Houston offices reveals how investigators believe Jackson died on June 25th. According to the Los Angeles Times, a fatal dosage of the powerful sedative Propofol, along with two other sedatives, likely caused Jackson to suffer sudden cardiac arrest, ultimately causing the King of Pop’s death at the age of 50. According to the AP, Jackson’s death has officially been ruled a homicide.

Look back at Michael Jackson’s life, in photos.

“The Jackson family has full confidence in the legal process, and commends the ongoing efforts of the L.A. County Coroner, the L.A. District Attorney and the L.A. Police Department,” the family said in a statement released late Monday. “The family looks forward to the day that justice can be served.”

According to the search warrant, Murray admitted to police under questioning that he had been administering 50 mg of Propofol to Jackson — who was suffering from insomnia — over the course of his six weeks in Jackson’s employ. However, in the week before Jackson’s death, Murray feared that Jackson was forming an addiction to the anesthetic, so he attempted to wean Jackson off the drug by lowering the dosage to 25 mg and replacing it with less-powerful sedatives, lorazepam and midazolam, the LA Times reports. On June 23rd, Murray only administered those two sedatives and not the Propofol to help Jackson sleep.

However, after giving Jackson Valium, lorazepam and midazolam in the early morning hours of June 25th, Jackson complained that he couldn’t sleep. Murray said he gave Jackson other various drugs, the L.A. Times writes, but Jackson demanded the Propofol, so Murray obliged by administering 25 mg of that drug intravenously at 10:40 a.m. PST. Then, as Rock Daily previously reported, Murray left Jackson alone and proceeded to make private calls to his family and workplace in Houston. When Murray returned to check up on Jackson, the singer had stopped breathing.

Murray has been at the center of the investigation of Jackson’s death since the inquiry launched, as investigators have conducted raids on pharmacies and Murray’s own medical offices to determine if the doctor acted improperly in treating Jackson — and whether a manslaughter charge should be filed in Jackson’s death. The official toxicology report from Jackson’s autopsy remains sealed as authorities continue their probe. Last week, Murray finally broke his silence in a video posted on YouTube, thanking his supporters.

I hate this Doctor Conrad Murray and would not believe a word he is saying. He’s just trying to make himself look better. His conduct has been disgusting and the pathetic excuses he has been using to explain his behaviour such as, the drugs were “all within the specified dosages,” serve as a window into just how morally corrupt he really is.

Jeff | 8/24/2009, 6:13 pm EST

Regardless of how you feel about MJ, thanks to Conrad Murray going and talking on his cell phone instead of doing his job, that’s an 8 or 9 digit amount of dollars that children’s charities will be missing out on that they would’ve received at some point had MJ been alive.

Smash him in the face with a brick a few times for all I care.

posting? testing?

tsunami sam | 8/24/2009, 6:29 pm EST

the doc is clean – leave him be. he knew what he was doing and is a doctor after all so can be trusted fully, 100%

so have mercy and patience and soon your anger will abate. if you’re lucky you might even get a doctor to give you propofol to help you sleep.

horse's whisper | 8/24/2009, 6:32 pm EST

doctor’s being trusted??? ha! the only doc i would 100% fully trust would be dr dementia.

or maybe dr hibbert.

Cynthia29 | 8/24/2009, 6:38 pm EST

Michael Jackson was a drug addict. He got the drugs illegally, through an extraordinarily unethical doctor. The drugs finally killed him. End of story.

MC Ren and Stimpy | 8/24/2009, 7:14 pm EST

Wow. This guy sounds like nothing more than a Mafia doctor, tossing the Hippocratic Oath right out the window. When someone is broken, you don’t keep them broken, you fix them.

jacko pulled a heath ledger

who is the next idiot to scrip out

Mark | 8/24/2009, 7:47 pm EST

This is ridiculous. I’m tired of seeing this Michael Jackson crap all over the news. It doesn’t affect anyone DIRECTLY (unless friend or family) at all. And yeah, the doctor gave him a drug that Jacko overdosed on. Which was Jackson’s own fault. The guy had been searching for the drug for years, and he would’ve gotten it ILLEGALLY, if a doctor wouldn’t had provided it for him. Jacko got what he want, no let the man rest in peace.

zappa>god | 8/24/2009, 7:58 pm EST

HELLO?! Jackson was probably miserable. His name had been ruined and he was in incredible debt. Does anyone else think that this could have been ASSISTED SUICIDE!?

Let the man rest now, it’s what he wanted.

iLly | 8/24/2009, 8:01 pm EST

Got to agree with Cynthia29.

Liz | 8/24/2009, 8:01 pm EST

Does ‘Dr.’ Murray have ANY clue the pain he has caused? MJ trusted him with his life and he betrayed him in the most irreversible manner. His conduct is incomprehensible – neglectful, careless, irresponsible, you name it. Propofol like any other drug is dangerous, the difference comes in how it is administered. I think this so-called physician should be stripped off his license and sent back to the island where he came from.

bottom line it’s a sad terrible situation 3 beautiful children must grow up without their father whom they loved with all their heart’s as he loved them. and all because of greed of doctor who is unethical he should be charged and convicted of murder ! and any other greedy doctor that supplied michael.

Anonymous | 8/24/2009, 9:07 pm EST

who cares

spencer | 8/24/2009, 9:16 pm EST

what some people need to realize is that he would have gotten the drugs he wanted anyway. if conrad murray didn’t do it, jacko would have gotten them from some other doc.

donna n. | 8/24/2009, 9:24 pm EST

tsunami sam what planet are from ? the doctor is clean let him be because he is a doctor he can be trusted 100 % his and all the other’s action’s cost michael his life a doctor is suppose to save life’s not take a life and all for what the love of money ! they took his life ! they deprived his children of a father ! wake up & smell the roses pray to god that justice will be severed ! and hopefully the law will stop allowing these money hungrey doctor’s to quit over medicating our rich and famous before another beautiful one is murdered it has to stop !

Bob | 8/24/2009, 9:40 pm EST

If propofol is an anaesthetic, as in used during surgery, Im sure it’s malpractice to give it to MJ. But he left his side?
This is a surgical anaethetic, not a doobie and a sixpack.

Somebody should have tried an intervention…probably didn’t want to turn off the cash machine.

donna n. | 8/24/2009, 10:48 pm EST

I agree bob there should have been a intervention ! but these people kept his family away from him. so that they could keep cashing in on him and they murdered him !

me | 8/24/2009, 11:08 pm EST

i agree with anonymous…who cares…really…i mean..come on now…look around folks…really…come on now.

Bendetti | 8/24/2009, 11:44 pm EST

I really hope his family release his final work soon to help focus the image on how he should be remembered. I don’t care if you believed him guilty or innocent of his very public “problems”, you still have to admit it took a huge amount of strength to truck on as long as he did. Sadly I think many of us saw this coming, but lets try and remember what this man gave us, and how he really wanted to be seen. I hate to say it but it took something this tragic to remidn me why i loved his work as a child. RIP Micheal, you truly deserve some peace after all your persecution. Guilty or innocent a lot of people do love, and miss you.

donna n. | 8/24/2009, 11:59 pm EST

anonymous & me if you do not care then why even read about it ? it’s a horrible crime ! & zappa > god it was a homicide ! not assisted suicide ! he didn’t want to die he said he wanted to live forever and he would not have done that to his children they were is life he loved & lived for them. those were his own word’s.

lls | 8/25/2009, 12:09 am EST

Damn, some of you people need to learn to write! lol. MJ was one of the best entertainers that has ever been. His legacy will live on forever.

donna n. | 8/25/2009, 12:09 am EST

amen beddetti & god bless michael’s family & children as they go thru the painful journey of seeking justice for him. may justice prevail!

AlAl | 8/25/2009, 3:38 am EST

man wtf? everyone is like who cares – huh?! Man I went to the doctor because I couldn’t sleep and he prescribed me a fucking warm glass of milk before bed! Not a friggin cocktail of malpractice like the one described. Now there is proof this doctor killed the king of pop because of his own weak as piss character. I say lock him up next to Mark Chapman. no, actually better yet: CALLING ALL DEMENTED MICHAEL JACKSON FANS: you know who you are, now is your time to come out of the woodworks and get your revenge ! light your torches, grab your pitchforks, track this man down and administer him a lethal dose of fucking whoop ass! I would but i live in Australia . Conrad Murray you scumbag you will go down in history with the worst villans of all time.

Alycia | 8/25/2009, 7:13 am EST

Only God knows what really happened. I wish the media would just let Michael rest in peace instead of turn his death into some media circus.

Vic De Zen | 8/25/2009, 9:44 am EST

Has there been any indication from the investigators involved that this is being looked at as an unintentional homicide? The doctor has been quite forth coming with his method of treatment for MJ’s insomnia and I’m not quite clear on any reason he would have to commit such a heinous act.

JD | 8/25/2009, 10:37 am EST

King of Pop, Great Artists? Who cares. He was charged with child molestation and paid “victoms” millions for other molestation charges to settle. This was an evil man and was the one who deserved to rot away in prison.

No matter | 8/25/2009, 11:36 am EST

suicide or homicide he was a molestor of young boys and a criminal more than he was ever a King of anything to do with music.

Kyle | 8/25/2009, 12:26 pm EST

I love how the same people who are so angry at everyone for assuming jackson was guilty of his charges, are the same people calling for the dr’s head without proof or judicial ruling. not saying if doc is innocent or guilty either way, but quit being such a hypocrite AIAI.

Stan | 8/25/2009, 2:40 pm EST

Too bad MJ died before they made a ‘Dick Tracy’ sequel. His botched plastic surgery, and his disgusting appearance would’ve made him a perfect villain. Or, maybe he could’ve played the Joker.

Reality | 8/25/2009, 3:43 pm EST

Nah I never called for the Dr.’s head, but did call for Michael when he molested young boys and settled out of court with the families afterwords for millions. There is a reason he went bankrupt and lost his little creeper amusement park. Duh!

ok 1 i feel absoultely sadden for the family of Michael. 2. Yall need to undersatnd the Micheal was under alot of stress and problems, and i dont agree with giving the poor man all that meds. that dumb ass dr. should had told micheal no instead of giving more and more and uppin the doseage.(dumb ass). Now the dr. have to face that he murdered one of the greatest humanitarian and musician in the world. If I was the judge in this soon to be trial I would send him to his death the same was he sent Michael.

zappa>god | 8/25/2009, 8:07 pm EST

I’m still convinced it was assisted suicide. I mean seriously, he was probably in so much pain his entire life because of all of his surgeries. I can’t imagine wanting to live through that pain.

I also have to agree with everyone that said that if this doctor wouldn’t give him those meds, he would have found someone else. Hollywood gets what Hollywood wants.

anonymous | 8/26/2009, 1:23 am EST

huge mj fan but agree with zappa. He had to have been in so much pain, and not only physical, but the mental stress he’s had to deal with for what 15 years?

I wasn’t there so I won’t speculate wat happened but I have a feeling that mentally mj was ready to finally be at peace.

AlAl | 8/26/2009, 4:14 am EST

oh i should stop being a hypocrite ay? well we will see what happens when the trial happens then – I believe the title of the story was coroner rules death a homicide. Not Coroner believes michael was a pedo and should rot. It as simple as this you do not prescribe all that shit for insomnia. This Murray was another one of the yes men michael probably surrounded himself with and grossly misused his responsibility as a doctor. Im not a hypocrite I believe in justice

Death of Michael Jackson = Homocide

Tammie | 8/26/2009, 2:15 pm EST

First of all why dont we look at the whole picture..MJ was addicted to drugs! This was the cause of him not being able to sleep. You get drugs that wire you up and then you cant calm down. As for Dr Murray he has poor ethics he was just another person that MJ paid well to do what needed to be done. I like MJ and I feel he loved his children, but the man was surrounded by people that he could pay off to do what needed to be done. The doctor should be stripped of his license for administating a drug that is meant for hospital purposes, manslaughter I dont think so. The report states MJ was addicted to pain medications and other drugs. For the first time in his life take responsibilty for his own actions. Let him rest in peace and his family move on and let go.

MJ was a clown. A stupid bitch. You people that follow him are disturbed losers.

anon | 9/18/2009, 12:27 pm EST

the dr needs charging asap. MJ was innocent and the haters need to read mary fischer article for GQ mag, conspiracy by aphrodite jones and redemption by geraldine hughes. MJ was the victim of greed and extortion by two bone idle families who didn’t want to work for their money.

Steve | 10/26/2009, 9:59 pm EST

Everyone that acts like they actually care about MJ now should just stop….I mean if you don’t see the situation how it really is then you are an idiot! Jackson asked for the drug after he had been givin other drugs which caused his body to shut down and die. It happens everyday in America and its called Drug Overdose OD! Could the Dr. have done a better job im sure, but he didn’t MURDER Jackson….he didn’t intentionally kill him…do you think he wants to be charged with manslaugther…..Jackson asked for a cocktail he couldn’t take….period!

DEBRA AMIRIAN | 11/9/2009, 1:32 am EST

DEBRA AMIRIAN | 11/9/2009, 1:44 am EST

Amber W. | 11/11/2009, 5:17 pm EST

Donna i respect your opionion but those “money hungry doctors” save lives! so what if one was faulty? for every faulty one there are tons of just doctors. MJ’s OD was his own choice so stop trying to pinn the blame on a guy who was just trying to do his job although i do believe he should have looked more fully into MJ’s case b4 perscribing the pills.

Amber W. | 11/18/2009, 5:37 pm EST

hmm so i guess nobody really wants to say anything about the death of MJ
