Paula really was the heart of the show, they needed her to counter balance Simon’s spot on, but very straight to the point criticism. I don’t think you can compare Paula’s salary to Simon’s or even Ryan’s. I’m very curious though to know what Randy makes compared to Paula. I’m going to have to disagree with you Jo. The real reason she left was because she wasn’t getting paid the same amount as the men. In my opinon she was wrong to do this, as woman will always get less money than men, and we just have to accept that instead of throwing a tantrum about it like Paula

I think Adam Lambert really summed it all up. Last season was difficult with a new face at the judging table. I do believe Paula is worth every penny she gets paid and since Idol’s inception numerous up on numerous contestant’s have expressed their love and apprecition to Paula for all her love guidance and support. Terrible dent we have in American Idol this year.

Reminder: Simon was going to reject Adam in the audition, said he was too theatrical and therefore not current. He called his rendition of Ring of Fire (ROF) indulgent rubbish. Paula and Randy championed Adam throughout the whole show. They both thought ROF was original, creative and “rocked”. Kara….well Kara didn’t know what to say abour ROF. If you review her comments, you will find that she often looked to what the other judges said, to the guest coaches for their reaction, and to the audience to see how they were reacting. Paula also championed David Cook. Simon was so-so on Cook. And look who was right. Simon is inconsistent – he tells the contestants to be original and when they are, he’ll say they shouldn’t change THAT song. You can never tell where he is going to come from. IMHO Simon is overpaid and judges based on the “same old” sound that is already out there. Kara – she drives me nuts. Randy – has an eye for real talent, is polite, but gets his point across. Paula -great eye for talent and knows when to say not so good.

Paula is the heart of AI. I will no longer watch the show. I can’t stand the boring Kara’s comments. Simon and Randy are very predictable in their commenting, while Paula always provided a fresher perspective than the others. She addressed the musicality of the performances, reflecting her knowledge in the field of music. The fact that the producers would pay a host 12 mil more than her per year is ridiculous. It’s truly ‘a man’s world.’

I think Paul got jipped by AI – having someone who makes the performers feel “safe” is critical to them taking the risks they need to take to participate at their best. I think the producers have greatly underestimated her value to the show.

The chemistry between Paula and Simon is irreplaceable. That’s the entertainment. Paula makes us laugh. She’s the compassionate nurturing side of the show. It’s a mistake to let go of Paula. Sure someone can fill up the seat but it will not be the same for the loyal devoted fans of the show. Especially that Kara has been re-signed without Paula. Better change all except Simon. Get judges with wit and humor and unpredictable. Kara and Randy are very predictable and humorless and no wit. No entertainment value. And most of all, change the voting system that it’s the deserving who should win. Let the judges have a say not only the voting public. AI is losing it’s audience. After ADAM shaking AI last season, AI will be a letdown. With no Paula this coming season and IF there’s no change in the voting system, G-bye AI.

I bought two,and my sister and neice gave me two for my birthday. I gave one copy to my other sister,but she made the mistake of setting it down and someone stole it! To all of you jealous idiots out thier who feel the need to mock my degree ill have you know that is a very prestetiougs degree that took me half an hour of work for a WHOLE WEEK to complete online. After Adam was declared the “runner-up” this year, I had already decided that I would never watch AI again unless the judges voted unanimously in agreement with the voting public. Following a contestant’s performance, I always looked first to Paula’s real-time reaction. She is intuitive and shrewd in her assessments yet tempers her comments with tact. She is a bit gushy at times, but that’s Paula, and she WAS judging Adam Lambert. If Paula’s reason for leaving is based primarily on failed contract negotiations, then AI is making a serious error in judgment. If she is leaving of her own perogative, I wish her continued success.

I sensed tension between Paula and Kara, whose opinion I don’t validate. If the voting system isn’t restructured and Paula does not stay, I won’t watch AI.

What a lame comment from a guy who has not cracked the charts yet or shown us any sustainable musical ability. It’s all about money and control, which is why Paula Abdul is leaving the show. She’ll probably land another role bigger and better. I like the personalities of the judges. They have every right to be harsh and critical. Marc: I don’t think Adam’s finding Katy Perry a genious makes him lame. Katy’s doing something right, making a ton of money while the rest of us obviously have nothing better to do than read/blog about what’s going on with a reality TV show! LOL! Also, Adam doesn’t have to have “cracked the charts” to verbalize a positive opinion about another performer any more than I think you should have to have a record on the charts to give your thoughts. I’m just guessing,though, that since it’s Adam’s video and picture I’m seeing attached to a Rolling Stone article, he’s in a better position than most of us to give an educated opinion. Regardless, it’s all just personal taste and –and Adam’s entitled to giving his viewpoint without it being called “lame.”

Rolling Stone is sure in bed with Adam Lambert. Honestly, I don’t care what he thinks about Paula Abdul or anyone else. He is an also ran. Kris Allen is the season 8 winner and the one whose opinions I would like to hear and/or read about in Rolling Stone. There is more than one kind of rock and it is the Kris Allen kind that most appeals to me.

ShariG isn’t it obvious that Adam Lambert is the new found international star? Kris Allen was “America’s Choice” and yes, he is cute and he can sing…I predict that years from now Kris will be playing college campuses and local concerts here and there. As for Adam, he will be performing Worldwide. Adam is the NEW KING of MUSIC. It is not necessary to bad mouth or put Adam down, just refuse to buy his CDs and concert tickets.

I for one will not be watching American Idol this year. What happened last season was horrible. The obvious favorite and the winner hands down comes in second place…. what the @##$! It was rigged to have Kris win. He is a nice enough guy but Adam is the American Idol winner as far as I am concerned. I will be buying his album in Nov and supporting him every way I can. I hope American Idol ratings take a huge plunge this year!!! It would be well deserved!

I would miss Paula immensely because her and Simon go together…Kara is just a sore thumb and really isn’t who I like to watch….If Adam comes back on just to sing on AI, I would watch it…I have nothing bad to say about Kris, only he doesn’t do anything for me…He looks like a 16 year old and Adam looks like a man…I seen him in concert and they all loved him….every one stood up when it was his time to sing, and set down when his set was finished…I hope Adam comes out with slow songs, rock and roll and whatever else he can come out with….Paula was the heart of the show with Simon…..
