Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo Green and his former rap group Goodie Mob will reunite for one night only on September 19th for a concert at their native Atlanta’s Masquerade, the group revealed today. “The Goodie Mob Reunion is something we have collectively talked about doing for a long time. The people have called for it, and with the state of the union the way it is, the time is right,” Cee-Lo said in a statement. The concert, dubbed “Remember Atlanta,” also promises appearances by other members of the Dungeon Family collective.

Goodie Mob first came to prominence in 1995 with their debut album Soul Food and their hit “Cell Therapy,” which was released just months after their fellow Dungeon Family member OutKast released their debut Southernplayalisticadillacmusik, with both acts frequently appearing on each other’s albums. Goodie Mob also coined the phrase “Dirty South” with a track of the same name on Soul Food. The Mob began disbanding in 2000 when Cee-Lo left the quartet following their third album World Party, with Big Gipp exiting five years later.

The Goodie Mob show comes just over a year after the group had an unannounced reunion at a Nelly concert at Atlanta’s Tabernacle. Talks of a Goodie reunion has been rumored for several years, especially after all four members performed together following a Gnarls Barkley concert in Atlanta in 2006. Rolling Stone spoke to Cee-Lo last year about the possibility of a Goodie reunion. “Our Goodie Mob situation is pretty tentative because it doesn’t have a home base at this point. We’ve never really severed completely,” Cee-Lo told RS. “We’re friends, we’re brothers, we’re family.”
