Madonna Readies “Celebration” Definitive Hits Collection, New Single Out August 3rd

7/23/09, 9:33 am EST

Madonna confirmed plans to release her definitive greatest hits compilation Celebration today, due September 29th as both a single and double album. As if the lure of 37 Top 10 hits wasn’t enough, Celebration will also feature a pair of new tracks she recently recorded in New York, including the collection’s first single “Celebration,” which was co-produced by house music legend Paul Oakenfold. Celebration’s cover, created by street pop artist Mr. Brainwash, is up now on Madonna’s official Website.

While the “Celebration” single won’t be released until August 3rd, remixes of the song are already on their way to the clubs according to the press release. “Celebration” will also be accompanied by a music video, which will be featured on the Celebration DVD. On July 18th, Madonna’s official Website recruited fans in Milan, Italy, to appear in the “Celebration” video, asking them to “come dressed to impress, bring all Madonna memorabilia, T-shirts or Madonna outfits you have and be ready to perform, dance or just be yourself.” Music video vet Jonas Åkerlund (”Ray of Light”) is confirmed to direct.

While the album’s track list hasn’t officially been announced, among the confirmed tracks are hits “Everybody,” “Express Yourself,” “Vogue” and “4 Minutes.” As Rock Daily previously reported, Madonna’s fans had a hand in the collection’s track list, sending the Material Girl requests and recommendation through her manager Guy Oseary’s Twitter. The Celebration DVD will be released simultaneously on September 29th and will feature a collection of Madonna’s iconic videos, including a few that have never been on DVD before. No official word yet regarding the other new song on Celebration, but it’s rumored to be leaked song “Revolver.”

Celebration is Madonna’s third greatest hits compilation and marks the last release under the Warner Music umbrella before the Material Girl leaves her career-spanning record company for a Live Nation 360 deal.

Beware Whitney Houston fans! Your Madgesty has been your challenger since 1985 and given that a compilation was Madge’s biggest selling career album, this definately could pack a punch, in addition to the singles! You’ll never pass my total sales and #1 hits! Mariah fans, your production will be making us all right “Memoirs of an imperfect musical obsession”- in other words- THE QUEEN still rules!

jeannie | 7/23/2009, 10:44 am EST

madonna rox, can’t wait for total domination on the charts by the only 1 that does it better

will | 7/23/2009, 10:46 am EST

I’m a huge Madonna but I don’t think Madonna will outsell Whitney. Whitney’s albums is probably the most anticipated album of the year. Expect to see huge numbers the first few weeks of release. I won’t be getting it but it will do well. As far as Mariah, I think she’ll post decent numbers but I think Whitney will outsell MC and Mariah will outsell Madonna. I’m sure Madonna’s Celebration will do well, but it’s mostly intended for fans. I can’t wait for it and excited to see the track listing.

Hey michael | 7/23/2009, 11:46 am EST

Calm down. Madge is a sloppy whore.

disbot 3000 | 7/23/2009, 11:58 am EST

Another tired offering to complete a record deal. It’s her THIRD greatest hits collection? Her record company should be upset that they can’t get a real effort out of her.

Rabbitbunny | 7/23/2009, 12:03 pm EST

Celebration will be the best comp ever because Her Ladyship-Madonna Ciccone sings about her life in her beautiful songs. Unlike
the Beatles’ 1, Maddy’s tunes on
Celebration already feel like home because Madge’s three-to-five minute symphonies already feel like home because I’ve grown up with them. By comparison, Beatle tracks like Love Me Do, Eight Days a Week, Yesterday, Hey Jude and
Long Winding Road already sound
out-of-date and ephemeral. Madonna, on the other hand-is very honest when she smiles about love found and cries about love lost
-her beautiful love songs will not fade away. Because of Madonna, rock & roll, art and her own brave soul will never die. Even Shakespeare and Mozart-as well as
Hank and Buddy-would be impressed with Celebration because love, art and music are the only things that matter in this life. Madonna,
thank you for the music-you are
a ray of light in my life. May you always live to tell and because of your brilliant American life,
may you forever take a bow.
Cheers, Madge! Thanks for being a friend to me!

JD | 7/23/2009, 12:19 pm EST

I’m sure some great songs will be omitted at the expense of lame collaborations with T-Lake and Lil Wayne.

Jeff | 7/23/2009, 12:30 pm EST

Madge’s “three-to-five minute symphonies”?! Are you for real?!! Put the pipe down already!!! To compare Madonna to The Beatles is beyond laughable!! On the one hand you have a group whose music has spanned, influenced and inspired generations. On the other hand, you have an “artist” who’s done nothing but record disposable, mind-numbing fluff for 25+ years by piggybacking on whatever dance-trend-schlock the “groove producers” and “club dj’s” were feeding the masses who actually appreciate such drivel. In a nutshell – “Child, please!!!”

Madge is turning 51 august 16 | 7/23/2009, 12:51 pm EST

had to say it

i know it pisses her off when ppl talk about her age

dont get me wrong i love madonna but, jeff is kinda right, madge just follows trends and tries to make it her own

i still love her work

but, the leaked song ‘revolver’ sounds similar to britney spears ‘circus’ album

i kinda was expecting a lot more from your majesty — i think she is running out of ideas her last ‘creative’ album was ‘american life’ but i think it got bad reviews, so she put her creativity to the back burner.

still love u madge, but, please impress me with your own ideas so we can still them like we have these last 25 yrs.

Genevieve | 7/23/2009, 12:57 pm EST

Every time Madonna comes up with a new album is a reason to celebrate. She’s the most important singer of our time. I’m counting the days for Celebration to be released. Viva la diva!!!

Naw | 7/23/2009, 1:13 pm EST

Whitney’s album is defo the most anticipated album of the year… among fans.

Celebration may tank in America, but the other 6.3 billion people in the planet will be lapping it up.

Face the facts, America isn’t the only place that matters.

Xavier | 7/23/2009, 2:08 pm EST

The only album, single, dvd or what have you that I would buy is that of Madonna. I won’t be supporting any druggie or emotionally labile losers ever. Madonna Is The Queen!!!

Alberto | 7/23/2009, 2:17 pm EST

I’m most excited about Madonna’s DVD collection, say what you will about her but the woman makes kick ass videos. Can’t wait to see “Justify My Love” on DVD. Not to mention the director’s cut of “American Life”.

KMac | 7/23/2009, 2:22 pm EST

I am anxious for the album, even if for two new songs. Her career has spanned 25+ years…I dont think Whitney or Mariah can say that (even in you include Being Bobby Brown and the Diane Sawyer interview). Her work is a lot of collaborations lately, but with the best people in the music industry. I have heard the leaked Revolver, and to me it has a Madonna sound. People can say she is copying others work, but have the others been around since the early 80’s? She influences the industry in a way that very few others have. The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Bruce Springstein, Michael Jackson and Madonna are all in a league of their own…and all equally have affected many people’s lives. If her album does not outsell Whitney or Mariah…who cares. She is not some crazy crack addict or an 18 yr old that attached herself to a 50 yr old to start her career. She has made calculated moves to keep herself relevant, as both an artist and business woman…and kept millions of fans loyal through-out. And FYI, Raising Malawi is an incredible documentary…could Whitney or Mariah pull that off?

Seth | 7/23/2009, 2:57 pm EST

Should’ve headlined this “More to Bore from the Veiny Whore…” Ha! But seriously, she’s garbage.

Alberto | 7/23/2009, 3:14 pm EST

TO SETH: People like you are soooo fucking BORING and predictable. Do you honestly have nothing better to do with your time than to read and then trash someone you think is “garbage”? Get a life, LMFAO!!

Anonymous | 7/23/2009, 3:49 pm EST

Has anyone noticed how bad this cover is? Whew! I thought “Hard
Candy’s” artwork was unflattering,
but this is just awful! I know
Madonna thinks of herself as cutting edge, but why have your
first career spanning compilation
look like Andy Warhol’s silkscreen
of Marilyn Monroe but on crack!?

Jesse | 7/23/2009, 4:01 pm EST

like Madonna has said MANY times before, she would rather have people hate her than love because she knows she’s gotten under their skin! BRAVO!

Tyler | 7/23/2009, 5:10 pm EST

Madonna is cool. No other artist has been able to maintain a consistently successful 25 year career, not even the Beatles managed that, they broke up, even Michael Jackson who is an icon, everyone turned against him in the early 90’s. But Madonna is entertaining and admirable, you never hear about any kind of drugs & alcohol binges with her.

Keith | 7/23/2009, 5:19 pm EST

Only one Queen !!! Lonjg live Madonna. You have conquered all

arongaga | 7/23/2009, 5:33 pm EST

Wow! i love the album cover. Mariah and W Houston haven’t the same iconic statu that Madonna has. And don’t forget that it is her first retrospective from 82 to 09! her first compilation album “the immaculate” sold 34 Millions. But in US I don’t think she will outsell Houston or MC, because she ’s less popular, but in the international market she will definitely outsell them. America will praise her when she’s dead like for MJ.sad but true.

Welles | 7/23/2009, 5:52 pm EST

Madonna has had her fair share of being labeled as a “has been;” the Sex book and Erotica put a grinding halt to her U.S. sales and she has barely recovered since, except for her brilliant Ray of Light album. And that’s a shame, her last two discs have been excellent.

Pie berry | 7/23/2009, 7:48 pm EST

Dude I love Madonna, but let’s not compare her to Whitney Houston, she’s in an entirely different league. Aside from that, I’m finally glad to read a story about Madge where 90% of the comments don’t consist of “THAT TALENTLESS WHORE DESERVES TO DIE!!!!LOL!!!1″

Madonnafan | 7/23/2009, 7:57 pm EST

YYYAAAAAAYYYY! Love the art work, taken from a 1990 blond ambition era (or is it from 1983??). Anyway, I am a long time fana nd I am so excited that the songs will be remastered and than WE the FANS picked this set list. Madonna is the Queen of Pop and will blow Whitney and Mariah out of the water in terms of worldwide sales. And to the people talking crap: Who else but Madonna is still at it, never left and still the Queen of Pop?? DUH! Madonna. The bitch been around since 1983 and is still making new music. Cannot wait for “Celebration”, it will be huge in the clubs, Europe, Latin America, Canada, Mexico, Japan, South Africa, Australia, Egypt, for sure (America is so stuck in the past that Madonna doesn’t even care). “Revolver” will do well in the United States (it might have a brief rap by Lil’ Wayne!!!!). Madonna is so good to us fans that I will buy multiple copies if I have to. I am NEVER disappointed by a Madonna release. They always manage to have great art work, great concept, all killer no filler. Poor Mariah had to push her album back…And I’ve heard that Whitney’s album is a make or break album for her. Battle of the divas, who will win? Madonna, the Queen of Pop!

Pie berry | 7/23/2009, 7:59 pm EST

And I agree with arongaga, the only time people will actually praise Madonna is when she’s dead, very much like Michael Jackson. And the difference is she hasn’t even been accused of doing horrible stuff, yet people lash out at her nonetheless because she wears leotards at 50 and adopts orphans from Africa. I don’t get it. Angelina Jolie does the same thing and she’s considered better than God, never mind the fact that she famously stole someone’s husband (actually, she’s done that several times before), so she’s no less of a slut than Madonna. BTW Madonna is a quadrillion times more talented than Britney Spears, yet people will gladly forgive Brit for going crazy over the past couple of years. Madge has never taken a ride aboard the Crazy Train. She’s been the only to remain consistent. Oh and Cher has a career parallel to Madge in music, yet people don’t diss her, they respect her as an entertainer. So it’s quite clear that people WANT to hate Madonna, and I can’t understand why.

Tracy.Flick | 7/23/2009, 8:53 pm EST

whitney released her last album in 2002 and YOU can take a fact from that: IT WAS A FLOP! (number 9 in US)Only a miracle…NO WAY!
Mariah? Hum, let me see
her new single Obsessed is descending on billboard hot 100
so, I guess Madonna is STILL on top
AS USUAL, FuCKing HatERs!

boring | 7/23/2009, 9:30 pm EST

another greatest hits collection, yawn! these sort collections are even more irrelevant in these days of mp3’s and free trade file sharing. we make our own greatest hits! we don’t need these dying dinosaur record companies. here’s to hoping they all go to their graves soon; they have been exploiting the consumer with their outrageous prices for decades!

Ronald | 7/23/2009, 10:14 pm EST

Compilations are irrelevant? Who are buying those MJ records. Dont expect the non-earning tweens and teens to swoon over them. If they are ever responsible, thank God because they are listening to pop gems. As for CELEBRATION, the die-hard Madonna fans wont let the Queen of Pop down. Whitney’s may be the most anticipated album of the year but remember that even the Immaculate Collection and GHV2 did not go to no.1 but sold millions.CELEBRATION is here to come!!!!!!!!!

Ronald | 7/23/2009, 10:17 pm EST

CELEBRATION. Let us celebrate life and Madonna’s music. Whitney’s too. Madonna loves Whitney and Whitney has not said anything bad about Madge.

LEXDEX | 7/23/2009, 10:17 pm EST

How amazing is the album cover? Divine!!! I was hoping for a definitive greatest hits collection but I’ll doubt that all her great hits will fit on two CD’s! It should have been four! Anyway, I can’t wait for the track listing and I am curious what’s on the DVD! Hopefully Erotica and This Used To Be My Playground and True Blue and other videos that have been never available on DVD! Love her!

j. | 7/23/2009, 10:23 pm EST

Okay, It’s been said before, but I’ll say it again. M’s gone 25 years, Can Whitney, Mariah, Britney or any of the others say the same? She’s had more than eleven studio records to Whitney’s four or five (and Whitney made them over, what, fifteen years?) and Mariah’s got, what one or two songs that really matter? People are copying Madonna, I don’t care what anyone says. To all of the unfaithful I say “GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!”

Lindsay | 7/23/2009, 11:19 pm EST

Cool cover. Very underground graffiti style. I am so glad they are remastering her hits. I became a Madonna fan around Ray of Light. I think she is the most artistic of all the pop stars. She has always been in control of her image and career and is a real example for all women. This album will be huge in the long run and will most likely out sell Whitney and Mariah in total albums sold world wide. I can’t wait for the new single and especially “Revolver”, I don’t care what anyone says, I love Hard Candy and think it’s one of her best albums. Pure fun and killer pop hooks set to bouncy bass. With a title like “Celebration”, this looks to be a fun album. I will buy the double album for sure…and ofcourse the DVD with the music videos. Can’t wait! I love Madonna. Such a strong iron woman.

Kat | 7/24/2009, 12:40 am EST

Whitney, Mariah, and Madonna are all icons. But let’s remember who is the official best selling female artist of all time according to RIAA: Miss Celine Dion. I know there will be a lot of haters for this comment, but whatever. The figures speak for themselves, oh and that voice of course.

arongaga | 7/24/2009, 10:11 am EST

I think the celine dion figures are fake and inflated and there must be some charts manipulation. Honestly she hasn’t had a smash album for years.

tony montana | 7/24/2009, 10:33 am EST

madonna has lasted so long because she knows how to transform herself like a chameleon and her sugar walls taste like honey!

George | 7/24/2009, 11:17 am EST

To ignore Madonna’s impact on pop culture and music is to be ignorant of culture in general. And to deny that she has amazing pop music sensibilities that improve the more seasoned she becomes is short-sighted. Madonna will be written about in history books in 100 years.

Anonymous | 7/24/2009, 1:33 pm EST

I hope they vogue and express yourself are NEW VERSIONS!! I dont see why i would want to pay for the same old stuff i have!! PLEASE DONT MESS UP THIS ALBUM BY PUTTING ON OLD VERSIONS!!

RICO!~ | 7/24/2009, 2:37 pm EST

Madonna is still very popular in the US. HELLO with 2008’s #3 MEGA 2.5 million selling HIT (4 minutes)
and killer Video.PLEASE!! Whitney will have to try very hard to push her album.. she is 45 radio wont care. Mariah Carey is already near has been it took 3 weeks before her latest charted…from 11 to 20.

Vince | 7/24/2009, 3:16 pm EST

The fact that Madonna critics take the time to not only read this article, but also to post negative comments, is a testament to Madonna’s ability to make even the most biased hater pay attention. Whitney, Janet, Mariah, Celine, or whichever diva one prefers all came AFTER Madonna, and none of them are doing as well internationally as Madonna continues to succeed. Occasionally, a competing diva will outsell Madonna in the U.S., but worldwide, it’s not even close. And yes, Madonna herself owes a debt to those who came before her; she has praised Cher, Debbie Harry, Chrissie Hynde – even Karen Carpenter (!?!), yet none of those worthy performers has matched Madonna’s overall global dominance and longevity. Despite a few valleys between the peaks, and a gradual decline since her “Vogue” heyday, Madonna continues to influence the total media spectrum in every corner of the world. Love her or hate her, she’s here to stay until she decides to retire, and at 50, she shows no signs of doing so. Bravo, Madonna!

MADONNA RULES | 7/24/2009, 5:08 pm EST

To all the nah sayers go screw yourself… Madonna is Queen of Pop! 50 isn’t old…. Michael Jackson was the King and Madge is the Queen!

Madonna is awesome QUeen Of Pop just like MJ who was the King of Pop… by the way Madge has 12 studio Records…”I’m Breathless” Is a studio album 12 songs all by Madge except 3 are from Dick Tracy which has a soundtrack… To the ones that don’t like her, go somewhere and buy your George Bush Records…50 isn’t old

Erica | 7/25/2009, 1:28 am EST

I’m hoping to see the videos for “Erotica,” “Everybody,” and the unedited “American Life” on this DVD. Also, I’d like to see “Gambler” and “Burning Up” on the CD track list. Otherwise, it’s all a waste of money. I’m an eager fan waiting for both, and I don’t want to shell out hard-earned cash for the same stuff I already own. Some dance versions of old songs would be nice, too.

LexDex | 7/25/2009, 2:05 pm EST

I really hope “Celebration” will include the huge fan favourite “Burning Up” and UK No.1 “True Blue” and US+UK No.1 “Who’s That Girl”! Especially on DVD (for the first time)! The songs/videos are brilliant and have never been on any of her Greatest Hits!

Musiclover | 7/25/2009, 6:51 pm EST

You cannot deny Madonna’s influence on pop music and her contnuing relevence world-wide. Sure, US radio has been less than eager to play her new stuff, but its in heavy rotation around the world. Madonna still has millions of US fans eager to buy her GH compilation. She continues to sell-out tours here in the US and abroad. Whether radio decides to play the new single still remains to be seen. Personally I think people need to give her a break.

s | 7/26/2009, 1:16 am EST

haters will hate you cant change points of view, but you cant deny the impact madonna has had on the world since becoming a global icon. the hate doesnt change that fact. album sales? who cares if celine has more? madonna has changed the world. and to people who think dance music is crap: that is your opinion, dance music is a culture, and who better than madonna to have impacted that culture the most? its an art form and if you can’t recognize that then you have some ignorance in your existence. and what would our world be without ignorant bastards? BORING!

LoopGuru | 7/26/2009, 6:47 pm EST

Wow. It is now official…Madonna has more hits compliations than she had hits. Zzzzzz.

THX | 7/26/2009, 9:57 pm EST

You can say what you like, but the FACT is that all the try hards like that crack addict – Whitney and the overweight trash – Mariah,
all wish they could do what the legendary the MADONNA has done. She is the Biggest Female Artist in the WORLD!!!! She has Global appeal and will continue to do so no matter what anybody says about her. Seems to me all the haters just fear the power of Queen- MADONNA!!!

Sean | 7/28/2009, 10:34 am EST

I love Whitney’s voice but Madonna is undeniably the Queen of Pop and one of the greatest pop culture icons of all time. Not the mention quite possibly the greatest entertainer. She has released more quality singles then any other artist since the Beatles.

For “Tyler”:

“No other artist has been able to maintain a consistently successful 25 year career”

Are you sure about that, bunky? Even with peaks and valleys, Frank Sinatra has at the low end over 50 years going up to 60 or more even before he left the building…

Numbers don’t mean much to me, it’s what the music is that I pay attention to for my own enjoyment and what I add to my online station playlist. I spin a lot of Madonna’s deep album tracks e.g. “Sooner Or Later”, “I Love New York” etc. that are sadly ignored elsewhere.

As there really hasn’t been much of anything below par from Ms. M.,I’m looking postively forward to her new tunes!!! Enjoy!

MADONNA ROCKS!

chris | 7/31/2009, 6:11 am EST

To Jeff,

Yes Madonna is in the same league as the Beatles. You probably never even listened to one of her albums, yet have such conviction toward her. Songs like Holiday, Vogue and Frozen, are classics that each have their own distinction. They were trend setting songs. One is pure pop/dance, one is pop/electronica, and one is in a league all it’s own, that being Vogue. You can’t say that she’s following others. Her Confessions cd is brilliant! Also despite the fact that Madonna has had the most top ten hits ever, there are at least another dozen songs that could have been big hits for her, had they in fact been released. IE: Promise To Try, Spanish Eyes, Time Stood Still, Heartbeat, The Beat Goes On, Survival, Don’t Stop, etc.

Ars | 8/1/2009, 10:58 am EST

37 songs that changed the (music) world.

We Rule | 8/1/2009, 11:30 pm EST

let’s face the facts haters. the guinness book of world records names madonna as THE MOST SUCCESSFUL FEMALE SINGER IN THE WORLD. You want more? Her concert tours outsell everyone in the music business. she has the 4 biggest tours of all time. VH-1 divided the history of music in two phases: PRE-MADONA and POST-MADONNA which means that madonna is THE point of reference. Madonna had never staged a comeback in her 25 years in the business. Whitney became a junkie, mariah a crackhead, britney had a meltdown,mj had an aborted comeback. Madonna had some hit movies: desperately seeking susan, dick tracy, evita, a league of their own. whitney had big movies too, but madonna won a golden globe, mariah will NEVER have a film carer. Billboard ranks madonna second to the Beatles in the 100 artists of all time. at 50 madonna has inked the biggest deal ever- the one with live nation. She has 4 albums in the rolling stone 500 greatest albums of all time. janet has 2, whitney has 1, celine and mariah have NONE. celine, the biggest selling female artist of all time, that’s fine but that does not make her the most successful female artist of all time. MADONNA IS A SURVIVOR, THE REST (MARIAH,MJ,WHITNEY,BRITNEY) ARE ALL VICTIMS WHINING ABOUT THE EVIL OF OTHER PEOPLE. I DON’T HAVE TIME TO SYMPATHIZE WITH WEAKLINGS!!!

Brian | 8/2/2009, 8:25 am EST

You know, all this talk about “the battle of the divas” can be broken down quite easily…

Madonna’s disc will more than likely go platinum in the states because it is a double album…that means two album sales are scanned, not just one. So you may see the collection do a LOT better than you expect it to…especially if Warner doesn’t ask some exorbitant amount for this collection. Which I’m guessing they won’t because of the state of the industry what with all the file-sharing and whatnot.

The “Celebration” single will do well on the charts because of sales…remember, Madonna’s lead-off singles have usually done fairly well upon release due to strong sales, and I see no reason why “Celebration” won’t do just the same. Expect at least a top twenty showing. “Revolver” has the potential to be a big hit for her as well…it’s catchy, radio-friendly, and if rumors are to be believed, the Madonna version will still feature Lil’ Wayne, which will very much be a boon to her as radio loves the man. So Madonna may just be able to pull this off…

As far as Whitney’s new album goes, expect this one to win, hands down-at least stateside, anyways. The buzz behind it is absolutely incredible…and people have been waiting for her return for a long, long time. Whether radio will play her or not remains to be seen, but her new single is already working its way up the R&B charts, and she’s worked with some of the best producers in the industry to make sure this all goes off without a hitch. Just like 2008 was Britney’s big comeback with Circus, you can bet your boots that Whitney will probably experience a renaissance of sorts…after all, there’s nothing people like more than a good comeback story.

As far as Mariah goes, I think her album will do decently…”Obsessed” more than likely dropped down the charts like it did at first because sales dropped, but as you can see at http://www.billboard.com, the song sits at number 17 this week…radio will start to pick it up, and this whole feud between her and Eminem will only help her in the long run…for those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about go to http://www.perezhilton.com and check out his diss track “The Warning.” Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel will probably debut high, it will probably not sell as much as her last effort, though…hardly anybody sells over a million these days, end of story.

Long story short, all of these ladies are talented…and the true winners are the fans. Don’t get me wrong, of the three I’m more inclined towards Madonna because she’s always done music I liked…with the other two it’s a touch-and-go situation. Their voices are absolutely incredible but, like I’m sure Madonna doesn’t appeal to everyone, they just don’t necessarily always do music I like. I believe sometimes it takes more than a big voice, you gotta have those hooks and that pop sensibility, which is where Madonna has always thrived. She knows her strengths and weaknesses and the reason she continues to succeed to this day is because she is able to utilize her strong suits.

By the way, I think the bottom kind of dropped for her in the U.S. around 2003…about the time she released American Life. She had started to build up some steam with the Ray of Light and Music albums, and then she released the video for “American Life.” I loved the video but it was absolutely horrible timing on her part. She released a very controversial, political video/album during a time when the country was rallying around their president like never before and at that point you were expected to tow the line and pledge your allegiance regardless of how you felt…and she didn’t. And yes, she apologized for her comments/actions later but the damage had been done…a lot of radio stations refused to play her afterwards simply because of that, hence why so many of her subsequent singles failed to even reach the charts. Since then she’s had a lot of trouble regaining her footing over here in the states…so I really don’t think it has to do with her being 50.

Anyways, I was in a mood to write…and by the way, is Celine Dion REALLY the best-selling female artist in the world? It wouldn’t surprise me…she had a lot of success worldwide before anyone in America even KNEW her. She had released several Francophone records before Unison. Okay, I’m done. Laterz!

I know celebration is going to be wonderful ! everything she does is artistic and sends the listener on a beautiful melodic groove from beginning to end, to all the sheep spitting vomit out good day I SAID GOOD DAY you aren’t worth my energy.

Celebration will definitely do well in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world, but I am not so sure about the USA. USA is largely dominated by rnb and hip hop and the black american culture and they are very disco phobic, so Celebration, just like entire Confessions, might be taken as a “foreigner” there. Still, there are millions of Madonna’s disco fans in the USA who will probably keep this record in top ten charts. Personally, I love it and it feels so much better then Hardy Candy which I did not like very much. Celebration rocks. Go Madonna!

Wow… the article is about Madonna, yet everyone is talking about Whitney. That just shows who the real queen is. Whitney is finally back, so Madonna will be crushed. Album per album, Whitney always beats Madonna. She released so few albums yet her accomplishements are up there with anyone. Whitney Houston, welcome back!!!

im in australia and she is still very popular here, and the uk she is also so im very intrigued to read that she isnt as popular as she was in the usa. do her albums still go to number 1? and her singles? i think this album will introduce her to a whole new generation of fans. like the beatles #1 CD. this is a monster collection of classic songs, its going to be absolutley huge.

Sidetrack, have you seen in absolutemadonna.com the picture of David banda wearing a left-hand white glove? i’s cool how madonna is seeing michael jackson in him, a respect for the king. and it’s great cause it only shows that madonna introduced the legacy of MJ to the kid, for more the music of the black legend to an african kid. when you see it you’d smile, david is so cute, they were together during a ballet event.

back to the Celebration, my insights, since it’s only a greatest hits compilation, it may not hit number 1 in the US album charts, it will sell but not as huge as the Immaculate Collection. anyway this is just Madonna’s parting gift to Warner. We’d just have to wait for the “real deal” when she releases her first album for Live Nation. But for now let’s give way to Whitney to sell better than Madge this year, hell Madonna has like more than twice sold more than whitney on almost everything.

Celebration song? Umm it’s not that classic hit ten years from now unlike Music or Like a Virgin that are still considered mostly remembered songs these days. I’m not even sure if that would hit number one in the USA, maybe in the UK But if Celebration will hit he Top 10 in the USA well then she’s done it again! Hitting a record breaking 38 top ten leaving Elvis behind.

For mariah? off to the garbage for the Looney queen. like what everyone said it takes one deranged crack head (Eminem) to diss another deranged nut head (mariah). vice versa. they should be together like in a stretcher.

Love Madonna, hope this CD is huge b/c she is the greatest performer the world has known. MJ was a better singer but he couldn’t sustain and control his own career and constantly evolve and grow as Madonna has over the last 30 years.

The previous comments are interesting yet one thing is clear – there is still a lot of LOVE for Madonna and she still has her fans downput.
Madge’s contribution to pop music is undeniable and credit must be given for her longevity and consistant ability to keep up with the times.
Yes she may be getting on but her last four albums have been number 1 hits – how many artists in their advanced years can boast that?
She knows she is not the best singer but one thing she does better is live performances – this is where she is at home with her fans!
Looking forward to her new album as it is time to celebrate – she has been one hell of a lucky girl!
I am celebrating too!

I am looking so forward to Madonna’s new cd. I dont dislike any of her cd’s.The only thing i wish she had done was make another Something To Rember. She has had so many wonderfull ballads that a lot of fans don’t know and they are pure Gold.Listen to Amrican life again and open your heart.

Without Madonna I would have never even thought about getting into show business. She is definitely one of the MAJOR influences that I have had since as long as I can remember. Her creativity, ambition, her musical dynasty and outstanding performances are such an inspiration to me. She is soo siccck! Can’t wait to get CD’s & the DVD!!!

cancerman | 9/22/2009, 12:57 pm EST

Say all the negative things in the world losers. Madonna is madonna. And she is incomparable to anyone. She is a smart business woman not just an entertainer. Long live Madz!

Singers need more than ability to be great; they need a natural and remberable voice and I think Madonna has that.
Every song I hear from her attracts and demands attention. She will be forever the Queen of Pop and much more she will
Forever be known for her greater than life image both on and off the stage.

Janet | 9/30/2009, 3:12 pm EST

I grew up with Madonna. She’s already made history in my book and there will never be another artist like her…at least in my lifetime.

Go, Madonna, the most successful (and sexiest) artist ever, even surpassing Wacko Jacko.
