Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, U2, Paul Simon, Metallica, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Friends and Simon and Garfunkel are among the legendary artists confirmed for a landmark
two-night concert event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Sprawling across October 29th and 30th at New York’s Madison Square Garden, the shows will feature Hall of Fame acts sharing the stage with guests and collaborators, honoring their influences and essentially retracing the
history of rock in the process. For example, Crosby, Stills and Nash will share the stage with California-based artists while Metallica will lead a hard rock portion of the concerts. Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin will also each front a soul revue with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra.

“These once-in-a-lifetime concerts are designed to celebrate the artists and their music,” said Jann S. Wenner, founder and editor of Rolling Stone and the event’s executive producer.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Friends, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder will perform on October 29th, while Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Metallica and U2 will take the stage on October 30th. (Look back at Springsteen’s remarkable career in photos, plus trace Metallica’s rise from fledgling thrashers to Rock Hall inductees and check out three decades of U2.)

The shows are presented by American Express and shaped by a creative team that includes Tom Hanks, his producing partner Gary Goetzman, Robbie Robertson, Cameron Crowe and Wenner himself, among others. Joel Gallen, the producer behind the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, will direct the shows, which will be cut into one highlight special airing on HBO.

All proceeds from the concerts go towards creating a permanent endowment for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and Museum. “Twenty-five years ago a group led by legendary Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun created this foundation to recognize and celebrate the music and careers of artists whose music helped shape and define our generation,” Wenner said.

AMEX cardholders get first crack at tickets on July 27th, and ticket sales will open to the general public on August 3rd.

The Rock Hall is also planning a book and deluxe DVD set to mark its 25th anniversary. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: The First 25 Years will be published by Collins Design in September, and in August, Time Life will issue a nine-disc box set of highlights of the past induction ceremonies including never-before-seen footage.

Look back at 10 years of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions and news in Rolling Stone’s Essential Rock Hall Coverage.

Where’s Mellencamp at an event like this? Gross oversight.

DannyBoy | 7/22/2009, 11:38 am EST

Wow that sounds like it will be a historic show. Cant wait to see it hopefully they will televise it!

DannyBoy

yong | 7/22/2009, 11:45 am EST

none

Brock_Vond | 7/22/2009, 11:50 am EST

They better televise this thing … lets face it, only the privileged will get tickets for this one. I suspect Paris Hilton will be there … the Guest List will be massive …

I used to think rock and roll was for the masses, now, its just a corporate sponsorship away …

Where have all the good times gone, indeed.

Larry | 7/22/2009, 11:56 am EST

This show will suck big time. Probably only my grandfather would enjoy it. Where are the new bands?!An event like this should be a mix of the old and the new. What’s the point of putting together an event with retired bands?

David | 7/22/2009, 12:19 pm EST

Get a grip Larry. You can see the Backstreet Boys and Brittany Spears another day. This is for those who belong to the Hall Of Fame.

VioletWorld | 7/22/2009, 12:21 pm EST

Bruce, really? Can’t you get the beach boys for one night?
What about Tina & Bowie?
Didn’t anyone forget about Bob Dyland and Tom Petty?

There is no Rock Hall without | 7/22/2009, 12:23 pm EST

Deep Purple, Kiss, Rush, The Moody Blues, Genesis, Yes, Styx, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Def Leppard! You may not like every one of these bands, but you must admit that every band is deserving. Hint for next year:

Induct Kiss,Purple, Priest, Genesis and The Commoadores! Wait a sec? You let in Run D.M.C. and Grandmaster Flash, but the friggin nCommoadores aren’t in? Are these guys truely stoned?

Phil | 7/22/2009, 12:29 pm EST

Larry, wow, your logic is baffling. Why should there be new bands? Which current bands are even worthy to be onstage with so many of these legends? Plus, none of the artists listed are “retired.” You just sound like a hater with nothing better to do today but complain about what looks like an amazing lineup.

Lynn | 7/22/2009, 12:36 pm EST

I suspect they’ll show more of the audience with the D list celebs and reality show phonies than the musicians themselves. (Like they really need it). I agree fully with Brock_Vond on this. It is just a corporate sponsorship away. American Express? Really?

Sid Marsh | 7/22/2009, 12:37 pm EST

A boring waste of time.

CleRockCity | 7/22/2009, 1:28 pm EST

This should be in CLEVELAND!

I just don’t get it. Cleveland builds the Rock Hall, have a huge opening ceremony, then repeatedly get shafted by the “Foundation.” Two induction ceremonies have been here since we built the pyramid on the Northcoast Harbor, and the Foundation acts as if they’ve done enough for us because they held the first induction ceremony in over ten years in April.

This is just pathetic, and the local board should have stuck up for us. It would not be hard to hold this event at the Q, especially if only 11,000 people are going to be attending each night. A facility that routinely hosts 20,562 people for sold out Cavs game can easily accommodate two nights of all star rock and roll.

This basically comes down to the fact that the Foundation is NY based and doesn’t want to leave its home. They are corporate sell outs and tied to the dollars and not the people. Just look at all the trouble music is having today by not understanding the business’s paradigm shift to realize these aging rich boomers are entirely out of touch with its customers.

Jay | 7/22/2009, 1:36 pm EST

I agree, John Mellencamp should be performing at this event. How is he not on the roster? Awful.

Rabbitbunny | 7/22/2009, 1:40 pm EST

Bruce Springsteen and U2-they are still the brilliand artist and band they are because I grew up with Bono’s fervor and Bruce’s
fuel-injected passion-even today there is a lot of hope and faith for rock & roll-U2 and Bruce are what I would call “the lifers” of
the music and art form-From
Mount Temple and Asbury Park, to
the Garden, FedEx Field and Hammersmith, both U2 and Springsteen are born to run on streetreets with no names.
It’s a beautiful day on the
tunnel of love-The Boss and the
heartfelt spyplanes literally saved rock & roll from oblivion. Thanks Bono, Bruce, Wenner and Frick for an amazing mystery ride
on Zoo TV. Nothing but good memories. Thanks for the ride
-so far!

MB | 7/22/2009, 1:42 pm EST

Larry Larry Larry…..You either wrote your comments for attention or you actually think bands like Fall Out Boy or Nickelback or an American Idol winner deserve to be at the Hall Of Fame concert. Haha I feel sorry for you………I really do.

Anonymous | 7/22/2009, 1:45 pm EST

No offense to Cleveland, but the Rock Hall should never have been built there in the first place. Always should have been NYC or LA.

…As for this event, there’s no way they’re going to waste A-list talent, on a B-list city like Cleveland.

Jimmy5684 | 7/22/2009, 1:48 pm EST

Where’s Neil Young? It can’t be taken seriously without Neil.

Dusty Negrón | 7/22/2009, 2:27 pm EST

Jimmy5684, can you read?

Crosby, Stills, Nash and FRIENDS.

Who do you think one of the “friends” is?

bun e | 7/22/2009, 2:42 pm EST

Let’s do the long overdue thing and get Cheap Trick in the hall!! If any band deserves it, it’s this band!! Over 30 yrs and still rockin!

psd | 7/22/2009, 2:52 pm EST

when you put a name like clapton and springs on stage, thats it! it’s an A-list night, period!!no baby sitting!

frog leg | 7/22/2009, 3:10 pm EST

larry your an idiot!! these ‘old’ bands probably influenced most of your current favorite modern bands. And im sure their much more talented as well.

Jonas Brothers rule! | 7/22/2009, 3:19 pm EST

Who will the California band that CSN plays with be, The Dead?

Can’t wait for this.

thank god someone said it

2112 | 7/22/2009, 4:01 pm EST

RRHOF is a private org. that has a yearly party for their own fun. Yes, they share by airing it on tv but by NO means does it represent the fans opinions. It should be BURNED to the GROUND and a REAL HOF should be started where the popular vote rules from FANS. I HATE, HATE, HATE the RRHO SHAME! I also am no fan of Rolling Stone Mag who think they are the voice of the music fans. They ARE not and never have been.

It’s a refection of how horrible the music industry really is. Ripping off fans every chance they get. Who is to say one band is better than another? It’s opinion and it has to stop.

BURN IT DOWN!!!!!

Kochui | 7/22/2009, 5:00 pm EST

HBO will have the concert as 4 hour special to be broadcasted over two nights.

drew | 7/22/2009, 5:12 pm EST

Let’s see… Decades of induction ceremonies happening in NYC instead of Cleveland. A HOF blowout concert that happens in NYC rather than Cleveland. What a shame that our Cleveland leadership are too much a group of pussies to call out the HOF top brass on the disrespect. Then again, we have the lowest self-esteem of any major city in the U.S.

Paul | 7/22/2009, 5:18 pm EST

David Gilmour should be there too, hes a big part of music history too

junior | 7/22/2009, 5:29 pm EST

without mellencamp, this event will be a joke.

Let's Review | 7/22/2009, 5:44 pm EST

Sid Marsh, are you going to be there? Then shut up.

2112, listen to Rush much? Longevity does not necessarily equal quality. However, they are good at cranking out soundtracks for D+D games.

kiki | 7/22/2009, 6:52 pm EST

Larry had some good points. i am bored with this old farts coming along!

Jaygee | 7/22/2009, 7:15 pm EST

Deep Purple, Kiss, Rush, The Moody Blues, Genesis, Yes, Styx, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Def Leppard? OK of those I’ll maybe give you Rush. But the rest… seriously? Not one of those bands has created a body of work deserving of being in the hall. Sure I liked Kiss when I was in Grade 8 and “You Got Another Thing Comin’” by Iron Maiden is pretty awesome. But to have them in the hall with the likes of Elvis, The Who, Otis Redding, Sly and the Family Stone, Aretha does them a disservice and anyone who has studied the vast mosaic that is the history of popular music would agree. Now if we could only revoke The Eagles induction the hall would be a better place…

Yeah | 7/22/2009, 9:06 pm EST

Why isnt michael Jackson on the roster? wtf

Greg | 7/22/2009, 9:21 pm EST

Bun e: you are correct, sir. Cheap Trick belongs.

Jaygee: you are full of shit, dipshit. The song you mention was made by Judas Priest not Maiden. Therefore, you have no legitimacy.

groupw | 7/22/2009, 9:49 pm EST

yessiree, this HOF show oughta be might E fine,

…. but for MY $ i think i’d rather fly west the weekend before & see Neil Young’s Bridge School Shows @ Shoreline. Lazing on the lawn while enjoying the eclectic line-up that Neil always draws sounds like waay more fun than climbing outta the subway & going into the Garden.
Ya’ll have fun in there ! Say hi to Bono for me …… my, my, hey, hey, R&R is here to stay !

kc | 7/22/2009, 11:48 pm EST

Yes undeserving? Give me a break. The yes Album, Fragile Close to The Edge and Going For The One are all excellent albums that got great reviews from all of the periodicals that like to pretend that all Prog Rock sucked and all Punk was awesome.

And that doesn’t even include 90125, which was a “minor” hit and has been sampled more than a few times over the last 25 years.

Yes deserves to be there, as does Genesis (though more for their output from 70-81 than for their most popular period).

GNR | 7/23/2009, 1:09 am EST

Nice lineup, I would however like to see possible hall-of-famers instead. Imagine Kings of Leon, Green Day, Coldplay, Oasis, Arcade Fire, The Killers and Pearl Jam

JRW | 7/23/2009, 8:17 am EST

Nice to see Bruce has cut his hair. Makes him look a bit younger. Note to Mick Jagger…when one gets older, don’t have long hair. Yah, I know this post is off topic, but still….

Arcade Fire, The Killers, Coldplay possible hall of famers. Are you out of your f***ing mind?

jimmyl@duke | 7/23/2009, 11:51 am EST

Yeah, I can read Dusty Old Pal. Can You? Neil Young doesn’t spell his name “FRIENDS” the last time I checked. It’s a slap at Neil if he’s in the “AND FRIENDS” category. CSN is yesterday’s news. Neil is still current. But thanks anyway Mr. Know it all for your comment.

bob | 7/23/2009, 12:22 pm EST

What about Paul and Ringo. I get a feeling they might do something.

Rolling Stone should be ashamed of themselves the way they treated George Harrison when he toured in 1974″lumbering in the material world” was the title of that issue. as it turned out this was George’s only US tour. You dudes really went after George. Actually Paul and Ringo shouldnt appear in tribute to George. Actually the hall of fame makes no sense. Most of the people in it are not even rock and roll. and what about people who should be in it like Jethro Tull and The Monkees. If you guys could bend the rules i think Rhiana and Beyonce should be immediately inducted as well as emimem,50 cent and of course one of the great rock artist of all time jay-z and how about jamaine jackson as a solo artist. I saw Paul McCartney the other night at citi-field and he was incredible. That is rock and roll.

dean | 7/23/2009, 12:43 pm EST

Tito Jackson, flavor flav and the jonasbrothers should be inducted. oh yeah how about a lifetime acievement award to Joe Jackson. better yet Michael Jackson should be inducted every year. It shouldnt be called the rock and roll hall of fame it should be the rolling stone hall of fame.

Hare Krishna

john ford | 7/23/2009, 12:59 pm EST

how is aretha franklin in the rock and roll hall of fame? she dose’nt sing rock and roll.

Raindog | 7/23/2009, 2:01 pm EST

Hey John Ford… I think you need a rock ‘n’ roll history lesson. Aretha definitely deserves to be there!

hank | 7/23/2009, 3:12 pm EST

How can you not include Ringo Starr as a solo artist. The hall of fame is a disgrace. When will you induct Destinys child and 50 cent. 50 cent deserves to be in it and of course snoop doggy dog. great rock and rollers.

mike petrizzo | 7/23/2009, 3:14 pm EST

Kanye West should be inducted immediately and how about chris brown and rhianna. rock and roll is dead.

zac | 7/23/2009, 3:16 pm EST

Springsteen really knows how the common man feels.springsteen is a phoney.so is billy joel. both are played out.

liberty | 7/23/2009, 3:20 pm EST

if i hear piano man one more time im gonna smash my radio. and that brenda and eddy shit. what is the last new studio album billy joel did. billy joel is just a lucky guy. luck little talent.

Bruce Sux | 7/23/2009, 4:31 pm EST

They should change it to the “lightweight pop hall of fame” because 90% of the morons they induct into this thing are exactly that.

Blaine | 7/23/2009, 5:22 pm EST

It’s utterly amazing how little music education is on display among supposed music fans. The constant bitching from non-educated morons on topics they have no knowledge about is about as enjoying as the modern, redundant, unoriginal music they listen to. Quit whining and start learning.

appleton | 7/23/2009, 6:34 pm EST

NO NO NO Springsten…any one else but this fraud…money money money…that’s all he’s about…big boob.

COMFORT INN | 7/23/2009, 7:31 pm EST

Once again, Please induct Tom Waits and Warren Zevon

andrea | 7/23/2009, 8:14 pm EST

chris brown and rihanna?? That is as logical as jessica simpson and nick lachey.

money d. | 7/23/2009, 8:31 pm EST

ha ha. kanye west doesn’t have much talent. he certainly can’t sing as much as he wants to. all these rappers should stop singing immediately. leave it to the pros, fellaz. you wouldn’t want most singers spitin verses, so it’s time to quit. or is rap dead?

dee | 7/23/2009, 8:46 pm EST

How about celebrating the list of people who never made it in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame like The Runaways, Linda Ronstandt, Chicago, Kiss, New York Dolls, The Hollies, The Moody Blues, Cheap Trick, Peter Frampton, Journey, Pat Benatar, Styx, Thin Lizzy, The Cars, Doobie Brothers, ELO, Heart, Steve Miller Band, Bryan Adams, Hall and Oates, Supertramp, T-Rex, Donovan, Boston, The Osmonds, David Cassidy, The Monkees….

U2 was great now not so much | 7/24/2009, 12:05 am EST

U2 is awful nowadays, why won’t they go away? get on your boots is a terrible song. vertigo was a terrible song five years ago. their old music was classic, now its just sad. the same goes for weezer. i don’t think they’ll make it in the hall of fame simply because of their last few attempts at records.

Leah | 7/24/2009, 12:18 am EST

Steve Perry, ‘The Voice’ is eligible for induction this year. Hope he makes it. Any news about whether the rumors are true-that he is really in the studio recording new music?? The blogs are going wild with speculation. Hard news anyone?

Abner Malady | 7/24/2009, 12:33 am EST

Is Alice Cooper in the Hall? The Stooges!!!

kitchy | 7/24/2009, 8:07 am EST

Chicago should be in the hall; unfortunately, as long as that prig Jann Wenner sits on the committee, that will never happen.

Jungleland2 | 7/24/2009, 11:19 am EST

This looks like a great set of concerts. Not sure why there is so much negativity.

I attended the 1995 HOF Grand Opening concert in Cleveland and it was an unbelievable event. I just found my VCR tape from HBO and was going to watch this week.

Who I would like to see inducted for 2010? (in case you were wondering)

Hall & Oates
Rush
Dire Straits
Alice Cooper
Cheap Trick

frank | 7/24/2009, 1:03 pm EST

The hall of fame is a disgrace. The people that are inducted are not rock and roll…..someone mentioned peter frampton, cheap trick, chicago, alice cooper…..they are rock and roll.but the hall of shame keeps inducting non-rock and rollers…alot of it is tv ratings..surprised biggie smalls and tupac and snoop dogg havent been inducted yet. they will. look at the string of hits the monkees had and they are overlooked. jethro tull should be inducted for aqualung alone. the whole thing stinks. it should be boycotted by true rock fans……

75 cent | 7/24/2009, 1:11 pm EST

All those phonies appearing at this concert should just perform the music of michael jackson. yeah springsteen can do abc or ben.y’know some of jackson classics…….billy joel can do beat it and billie jean…..Joe Jackson should host this event. the hall of fame is all about the jacksons. I think the new inductees should be tito, marlon, jermaine as solo artist. 50 cent. beyonce. eminemem all great rock and rollers. shouldnt even have to wait. induct them now, kanye west should get a lifetime achievement award…..rock is dead my friends thanks to rolling stone which was a good publication many years ago.

tom | 7/24/2009, 1:14 pm EST

springsteen has become a bore.billy joel now looks like the late comedian allen king. rock died december 8,1980.

David | 7/25/2009, 3:49 pm EST

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame not the Rap Hall of Fame not the Soul Hall of Fame Get it? So why do they continue to snub Prog Rock bands? They’d rather induct artists from genres other than rock. It’s BS!! I have nothing against those artists but they don’t belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Rafael Ravelo | 7/25/2009, 4:34 pm EST

I think so, they should be a the best representant rock for decade f.example 50´s Chuck berry, litte Richards 60´s Paul McCarney and Ringo Star, Bob Dylan and Mick jagger or Rolling Stones, aretha franklin, carol King or Joan Baez,Peter Noon, 70´s Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, David Gilmoure or pink Floyd, Elton John, David Bowie, Steven May Ex Queen, Yes, Steve Nash, Steve Wonder, Carlos Santana the Who, Joe Coker.80´s Bruce Springteen, Genesis, Madonna, U2, The Police, Journey, Scoorpions, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Ozzy Ousrbone, Duran Duran, Guns and Roses, Bon Jovi, Brian Adams, Metallica, Micheal Jackson 90´s Pearl Jam, ARM,Simple Red, Simple Minds, Peter Frampton, Nirvana, Perry Farrell, Cread, Mariah Carey, Deef leppard and 2000´s Cold Play, Green Day, Eminem, Gorillas, Robbie Williams,

Cheap Trick is America’s greatest living Rock n Roll band. The Trick have been rocking the world for over 30 years performing over 5500 concerts on every continent. With the original lineup still intact, the boys from Rockford, Illinois should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. For You Consideration here is Cheap Trick!

BTW – Still going strong with their New Release “The Latest” this band deserves to be there before 50% of the Bands allready enshrined.

West Coast Rocker | 7/27/2009, 5:51 am EST

I Quote Rolling Stone Magazine on cheap trick circa, 1999 … I quote “Cheap Trick were, are and forever shall be the fucking business.”

In your own words … so what gives RRHOF?

HallofLaughs | 7/28/2009, 12:52 am EST

I’ve visited the Hall of Fame, and it has some great exhibits featuring some wonderful performers. But the concept is flawed as hell … as have been Rolling Stone’s reviews over the years. Yes, the blues are part of rock, but not to the exclusion of other facets. R&B – to a degree. Rap = NOT. Those commenting like Dee and Mark are 100 percent correct: long-lived American … even North American … acts are being left out, and progressive rock IS a legitimate part of rock’s history (the Beatles and Beach Boys were key progenitors), but is always ignored, while other branches are fully accepted. Hypocrisy and old-guard elitism are the only explanations.

Springsteen is the best performer of all time. Every performer has something good, or they wouldnt get paid if they suck.

mike knuckles | 7/28/2009, 1:36 pm EST

50 cent should be immediately inducted as well as that other great rock and roller kanye west. better induct west before he gets pissed off at rolling stone. dont forget beyonce,jay-z and long overdue biggie smalls. the hall of fame is a disgrace.

hank | 7/28/2009, 1:40 pm EST

springsteen should withdraw his induction and give it to kanye west. billy joel should do the same for snoop doggy dogg. a special honour should be given to joe jackson, what a great guy.

The Truth | 7/29/2009, 10:45 pm EST

kanye west sucks donkey D!ck

It’s the rock and roll hall of fame, why should Kanye, Biggie Smalls, Jay-Z or others get inducted?

AlexLyall | 7/31/2009, 1:20 am EST

Nirvana, when are they gonna be introduced ? I know Kurt’s dead but they were a legendary band. And even though their not classic I think Foo Fighters should be introduced, if not now maybe in 10 or so years, once their music becomes a little more “classic”

Frodeguns | 7/31/2009, 5:57 am EST

Cant wait till 2012 when Guns N Roses get in!!

If you people read the promos for this concert you will notice that special guests will be there. I am hoping John Mellencamp will be one of them. I have seen him in concert and he does rock.
Also all of you touting singers who have been in the business for just a few short years, the rule about admission to the RnR HOF reads that the person has to be in the business for 25 years. In 25 years those people will be long out of people’s minds.

Uncle John | 8/1/2009, 4:40 pm EST

I sure hope Chuck Berry shows up. There would be no Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame without Chuck Berry’s music.

Joey | 8/13/2009, 6:59 pm EST

WTF!!!!! IM BLACK AND I DONT HAVE A SINGLE CLUE WHY THERE ARE RAPPERS AND SOUL ARTISTS IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!! Kanye West dont play instruments he sits on his ass and presses buttons and talks about the same things over and over. Same with Jay=z, and the rest of those rap idiots. If i was in a huge rock band and got inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame id tell them to f-ck off. Its just a bunch of sellout bulls–t now. Everything for money, and appearance.

scott | 8/24/2009, 10:31 am EST

there has got to be a way to go back and fix the oversights(alice cooper , rush and dire straits just to name a few.I agree the hall has no credibility until they adress this.

Daddeyo | 9/24/2009, 8:36 am EST

No Rock hall-of fame that does not include Brian Eno is a sham…he is the one of the most influential artists/producers in the biz and he’s not in the fame? Gimme a break…I guess it’s all about dollars and not body of work.

Rebecca | 9/27/2009, 12:17 pm EST

Wow. Reading all of these comments makes me sad. Every single one of these comments is a complaint. Lighten up! It’s a concert! There are some good artists there! Stop wasting your time trying to define “rock & roll” and who “belongs” in this category. Good music is good music.

skippy | 9/29/2009, 7:41 pm EST

Where is John Fogerty? Where is Chuck Berry? Where is Billy Joel? Is Paul Shaffer gonna hog the spotlight all night long? Rock on!

I'mARocker | 9/29/2009, 8:14 pm EST

Thank God for Springsteen…but this concert needs Dylan for sure!

Daniel Sims | 10/1/2009, 3:44 pm EST

AS a 55– year old music fan I am a fan of all the great rock and roll, R&B artists… why was this concert may more accessible to the genenral public..everywhere in our great country.. via cable, radio, whatever??? I remember the FIRST induction.. it is a dam shame that most of us who really know what it is all about cannot even watch this historic event….

John | 10/14/2009, 10:03 am EST

Neil Young probably won’t be joining CSN that night as he does a benefit each year for a school in CA. That benefit takes place on the weekend of the show. While I don’t know where he is in the line-up, it would be tough for him to make the round trip.

R | 10/15/2009, 10:20 pm EST

Rock n Roll Hall should have been built in St Louis.

Leah | 10/25/2009, 1:31 am EST

CAn’t believe Steve Perry was excluded from induction AND invitation. Singers from Bon Jovi to Josh Groban cite him as an influence-he has been singer, songwriter, producer, and mentor for decades-including helping other artists like David Pack and Guff into the 2000’s. One of the greatest rock voices and songwriters/producers of all time with one of the most loyal and passionate fan bases in existence! Can only guess that people were jealous of his talent AND his hair!

Rob | 10/27/2009, 4:28 pm EST

A limited collection of talent, no doubt. Nonetheless, Bruce and U2 are heavyweights beyond compare. Those two acts alone make the show and the HBO telecast worth watching. Bruce always blows the roof off any joint….and U2 will be dynamic as well. CSN, unfortunately, should not perform anywhere in public without Neil Young. Simon & Garfunkel…I just hope the harmonies are still there.

Whoever was demnanding John “cougar” Mellencamp….please. I know he’s a good ole hayseed boy from Bloomington IN….and has had his share of pop radio hits, but he ain’t in Bruce or Bono’s class. Sorry. He’s not even in Bob Seger’s class.

Captain Elbow | 10/30/2009, 1:12 pm EST

The first show is now in the past and it was an INCREDIBLE, once in a lifetime event. It far exceeded my expectations !!!

martin klünder | 10/31/2009, 6:41 pm EST

Cugar.Bono,Jagger…………. …..

You all know !!

It`s funky Buisnss !!

But I like it

jr | 11/3/2009, 5:18 pm EST

the shows were awesome – both nights!
Jeff Beck still makes me feel like “Clapton who?”…would’ve luved to hear Yardbirds though -what up?
here’s a few of my future inductee requests – Paul Revere & the Raiders (Kicks!),Mitch Ryder & Co.(Devil With A Blue Dress On), Tommy James & the Shondells (Mony Mony), the Raspberries (I Wanna Be w/You,Overnite Sensation), Cheap Trick & Alice Cooper as obvious influencial and influenced….AND always overlooked but still played daily…Randy Bachman & both of his bands the Guess Who (American Woman,These Eyes etc) & BTO (Takin’ care of Business, You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet). He influenced Neil Young’s guitar playing in the clubs, his band’s built the Canadian music industry, Burton Cummings is an underated original voice,Elvis borrowed “TCB”, the songs became anthems and the riffs are instantly recognizable (and chart topping-ie Kravitz) today, just as then. Even his kid Tal charted “She’s So High” higher than other generation next torch bearers.

Dennyp | 11/8/2009, 9:17 am EST
