Glad to hear new music is on the way from Ace! Even happier to hear that he’s been able to maintain his sobriety. Last time I saw him with KISS it seemed like he was so loaded he could barely stand up.

As for the comment that the rest of Kiss are untalented, I beg to differ. Paul Stanley has written some great music over the years and his voice is simply amazing. Gene is more of a pitchman at this point…but each of the band members certainly brought a lot to the table in the early days. As much as I wish they could all just bury the hatchet and work together for the fans….I’ll take their independent projects since it still means I’ll get a little of all of their flavors.

Maximus? He cant sing, cant play guitar, and writes awful songs. Where do his talents lie?

Ace is the reason I play guitar since April of 1979. I love and respect him dearly. But please, STOP slandering KISS. That is after all the band that spawned Ace as a solo artist. Show some respect. I am stoked, and excited to hear both new CD’s when they are released. By the sound of it, Ace and KISS will be putting out a back to roots album. That has been LONG over due. I am happy that it is finally coming to fruition. Peace Everyone!!

huge kiss fan for many years growing up, but even now i have to say they are too old to be doing what they do. Especially with replacement members wearing original members makeup, it’s not kiss anymore. The only way a kiss show would be interesting to me would be if they played more of their b-sides instead of the same 20 or so songs every show or how about creatures of the night or the elder in their entirety. Just something they haven’t done yet. But shout it out loud and rnr all night don’t make me wanna spend $60-100 again to see them again

Ace is definitely the most talented of KISS and hope this new album is much like the 1978 album, that album is excellent!

As has been mentioned by some of the other commentors, Ace was the main reason I liked Kiss. I was a 16 year old guitar player when the first Kiss album came out, and Ace’s style influenced me greatly. Ace may not be the most technically proficient player in the world, but Kiss wasn’t about that, anyway. Kiss was about having fun! I’m ready to have some more fun with Ace’s Anomaly!

Ace is cool and can still play. None of them would be famous if it weren’t for the other. Gene is a greedy bastard who doesn’t care about anyone but him self but so what. I hate KISS (and especially Gene Simmons) with a passion.. But Ace seems like a fairly down to earth guy. He automatically wins favor with me in that he had to deal with Gene all those years…

Ace is the man. Everything he touches turns to gold, or rocket rides itself into rock history. If god were a guitarist, he’d idolize Ace.

One thing I’ve always liked about Ace Frehley’s music is the fact that when he plays guitar and sings, he sounds like he means it, he’s not just going through the motions. If he could sound that good in the past, even with the problems he had, I can just imagine how great Anomaly is going to sound.

The one thing I’ve always admired about Ace, is that he’s very straight forward. He tells you like it is and that’s that. I’ve been a fan for 20 yrs and he’s never disappointed me. Guys, I know everyone wants to take sides but really everyone (Gene, Ace, Paul, Peter) are to blame for the original guys not being together. For Gene to just blame Ace and Peter that is just wrong. His selfishness and greed had just as much to do with them not being together anymore as did there drug and alcohol use. I think Pauls only problem was his love for the band and to make sure that never came crashing down he seemed to think he needed to take over and became a bit of a control freak. I am glad Paul Ace and Peter are still all talking. They should support each other. Peter is to old, Ace is happy and Gene and Paul are selling out stadiums every night. I think Paul and Ace get it. I am excited for both ACe’s disk as well as Kiss’s new disk. Live on Kiss.

KISS’s image was always an easy way for critics to dismiss the music. Otherwise ACE would have always been named in the same breath as Joe Perry, Angus Young and Ted Nugent. ACE is finally getting the respect that he deserves.

I can hardly wait for his new album. It took way too long and as far as his Kiss career he blew it. Kiss is setting attendance records on their Alive 35 tour. 55,000 plus in Quebec, all this Kiss bashing comments are the minority. People are talking with their concert sales. Hope Ace does well, saw him solo with a 1,000 people.

Look, Ace was great until about 77 / 78. After that he got wasted. He had to sober up, but fucked up too much, so they cut him lose. After the reunion tour, he fucked up again. You know, it’s never Ace’s fault. Why did it took so long to make a record?? Cause he’s sloppy and lazy, that’s why. Ace is a fuckin great talent, but he has to prove it all over again. Keep my fingers crossed, hope the album is as good as his first. KISS will never be the same without him.

It’s nice hear such great news about Ace, who I’ve been a fan of for 30 years. I saw him last year at the HOB in Hollywood, and sobriety if treating him well-he was absolutely spot on. Hope the new record is a success. Kiss, particularly Gene, have unfortunately turned into a punchline. Big fan all my life, but I won’t support them as long as a couple of scabs are wearing Ace and Peter’s makeup. Saw Ace at Bogart’s in Cincinnati in April, 2008. Band was tight, and Ace was in stellar form. I’m really optimistic about this record.

I just can’t see how a this magazine has any credability when it has the Jonas Brothers and other pop acts on the cover month after terrible month.

Gene ruined Kiss. Listen to Psycho Circus and tell me that Ace and Peter are playing on all those songs. Now tell me why. Can’t? Ask Gene. Instead of making a Kiss record, Gene & Paul wrote a bunch of songs about how great it is to be Gene & Paul.

I can only hope Anomaly is a good record. It should be since Ace has been accumulating material since Trouble Walkin came out in ‘89.

Ace left the band when they started getting away from what made them successful (i.e. The Elder).. Even Paul says in the booklet of Kissology #2 that they could have used more of Ace’s direction at that time. Honestly though, all the breakup drama and whose who is probably keeping Kiss in the news and prolonging the bands’ life. I’m looking forward to both new CDs, let’s see what Tommy’s got, but there will always only be one Ace.

He loved Aerosmith and I love KISS…soo it was an easy nite.After KISS , he said “I should of seem them a long time ago.Their Great!!”Whats the big deal with Ace not being here ?He’s an idoit for not doing this”. Regarding the KISS vs. Ace deal: I will be buying both albums when they come out. Why? Because I am a fan. Someone mentioned that The Who & Skynard are touring without original members. Sacrilege? No one gives them a hard time. Paul McCartney just played Shea & sang Beatles songs. What…without George, John & Ringo? Heaven forbid. Even the Rolling Stones play without original members.

The makeup issue? Ace & Peter left. Simple as that. If I have a money-making business, do I stop because a couple of employees left or do I continue applying the same business model that made the company successful? I miss Peter & Ace as much as anyone, but I’m not going to stop going to KISS concerts or stop buying KISS albums or merchandise. Integrity? I think there’s integrity in giving what the fans want. The majority of them have been screaming for a new KISS album, and now they’re delivering one. Are they making alot of money? Hell yeah!

I’m really looking forward to checking out the new Ace album. I have been a KISS fan since the late 70’s and I love the 70’s albums. I think Peter and Ace share much of the blame regarding their departures. I also think Paul and Gene are very talented. It’s not as simple as: Paul sucks, Ace is GOD! They were at one time perhaps the biggest rock band in the world. That creates a lot of pressure to: tour, keep making records, interviews, etc. From what I’ve read, Ace and Peter weren’t always up to all those challenges. Both were heavy party animals and Ace had a knack for not being in the studio on time or at all. I like picking apart the albums to try and figure out which of the guitar solos Ace played on or not. I know Destroyer has some studio guitarists as well as other albums. So, people can criticize Paul and Gene all they want, but those guys put in a ton of work to keep KISS up and running. Yeah, some of their songs and lyrics SUCKED so bad that its painful, but they did what they had to do. Some of Gene’s lyrics sound as if they were written by a middle schooler that just figured out he likes girls and hasn’t figured out how to express it. Today, I would not dole out money to see KISS live. However, I don’t think its some travesty that they still play in the original make up. In fact, that may have been part of the whole deal: KISS could still be a “thing” after all of the original members are gone. If you were to view KISS as more of a theater act instead of a rock band, it might make it easier to reconcile this notion of our beloved original members not being behind the make up anymore. All this said, I still think Ace Frehley was/is a very underated guitar player that had style, grace and flash. Also, a very good songwriter. Good luck Ace and keep your nose clean.

GENE really is an ass. By getting a mediocre guitarist to sit in Ace’s costume, both him and Stanley turned the band into a disrespectful mockery!! LETS GET ONE THING STRAIGHT HERE PEOPLE THE FUCKING BAND IS NOT”KISS” WITHOUT ACE FREHLEY! Simmons knows that now and Stanley goes through boxes of Kleenex, as he whimpers about the good ole days.

Ace has never compromised the core ethic of NYC 70’s rock’n'roll guitar players; he’s like Johnny Thunders with hit records or Joe Perry before horn sections. Gene became Donald Trump and Paul evolved into Carol Channing. Peter is sitting by the phone, waiting for Gene -or Beth- to call.

I WILL ADMITY, GETTING TOMMY THAYER TO PLAY GUITAR IN ACE’S PLACE WAS THE STUPIDEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE IN MY LIFE.
I KNOW THAT KISS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT ACE. I THOUGHT I COULD PULL IT OFF BUT I GUESS I WAS WRONG. YOU SEE, I ONY CARE ABOUT WHAT IS GOOD FOR ME AND MY EGO. Ace Rocks… BUT… KISS IS Paul Stanley. Ace added seasoning, no doubt.

There is no reason to hate on Tommy Thayer… his own band, Black N Blue created some really great stuff in the ’80s too. Ace is more of a visionary with sound and has his own style. Thayer in KISS so far has held the role of presenting more of Ace’s style, but if he is allowed to just do his thing it will grow into something better than what he has done so far. I think Thayer is a better fit than Kulick was. In any event…

KISS was like a dysfunctional marriage… we’d like to see them stay together, but if they couldnt… you dont have to really choose sides, you just have to know that it was doomed to work long term and accept that. With Ace and Gene and Paul, Ace is just too different from them. The substance use was a part of it during the times Ace was in KISS to. Gene and Paul are all business and regimented, Ace is more free form. It is what it is. I just think it is a bonus that we get two new albums instead of one. I see no reason to get down on either side.

Gene & Paul make up Kiss,Inc., the money-making machine that never stops. For them, it was never about the music, it was about how to sell as many lunchboxes, belt buckles, perfumes, and other crap as possible. One story alleges that Ace only left after Gene called a band meeting and showed up with a brief case…I don’t blame him. I would’ve left too! Ace…You rock and you’ve been my guitar hero for 30 years.

Hey ‘Gene Simmons’! Ya know, your ‘non-wife’ would HAVE to be cool. I mean, she tolerates your mounting anything that moves because you are, after all, a GUY, & are horny. So she SHOULD understand, right? I mean, she herself is only a FORMER PlAYBOY PLAYMATE after all.

wish both cd’s would come out on the same date and let the fans decide on which sells the most. think it would be great for both Ace and Kiss to compete for who’s hotter than hell. kiss should let the fans decide the songs at each shows to instead of the same ones year after year. I like how they let the fans decide where they play thats cool. Ace sould be the opening act and come out on stage with kiss on there last 3 songs

Sorry, I always thought Kiss were a second rate R&R band with makeup, with the exception of Ace Frehley. As a guitarist, Ace seemed to have his musical foundations in order. Looking forward to listening to his new cd.

I like KISS and Ace and Peter. KISS will go on, Ace will go on, and Peter will go on… can’t we all just get along. The more music they (collectively or solo) put out the better.

Ya know, out of ALL the members of KISS, ACE is the one who can consistently put out good SOLO music.

Now before I’m attacked, I know that SOME of the ‘Frehley’s Comet’ material isn’t necessarily that great but I feel like even THAT can be explained. Call that ‘the 80’s’. If you’ll remember, ‘hair metal’ was BIG at that time & even ACE tried to somewhat make HIS appearance sorta like that. Just compare his hair in KISS with how he looked in this time period. It was more ‘poofed out’ than it should’ve been. However, even musically I think Ace was somewhat influenced by that trend as well. Ya know, the whole ‘pop’ sound to the metal ala Bon Jovi. Ace even let ANOTHER guy sing some of the material, like Ted Nugent! And it’s not that those tunes were really bad; they just weren’t ACE in some cases. I think by the time the ACE FREHLEY album came out called TROUBLE WALKIN’ that Ace was attempting to get refocused but who knows what happened AFTER that? Like the guy said, we’ve been waiting 20 years for a new Ace Frehley album!

However, when Ace puts his MIND to it, he can really deliver the goods! Just look at his EARLY tunes he wrote for KISS: Cold Gin, Strange Ways, Rock Bottom (intro), & Shock Me (which HE sang lead vocal). He LATER dazzled us with the array of songs he did on Dynasty & Unmasked, & even though THOSE albums were considered MAJOR departures for KISS musically, Ace STILL delievered! Even his cover of the Stones’ song 2000 MAN was AWESOME! But by the time THE ELDER rolled around, Ace had HAD ENOUGH! But hey! When KISS reunited, Ace gave us INTO THE VOID! He STILL had it!

But back to SOLO work. My point is that ACE is the most consistent in QUALITY like the fans SHOULD expect AND receive! I mean, look at Peter. SOMETIMES he can come up with a good tune but as for an entire album? Just listen to his LAST album & tell me what you think! And he wonders WHY he can’t make it as a SOLO artist?!

Gene & Paul ain’t immune either. Now, Paul’s last effort LIVE TO WIN is an ‘OK’ effort, maybe even similar to some of the ‘non-makeup’ period, but it’s not NEARLY as good as his FIRST solo LP with KISS. The thing is, though, is that Paul didn’t WANT it to be like that LP. Maybe he should’ve? It didn’t stay on the charts NO TIME! And don’t even get me started on GENE! Ya know, some credit GENE with having the HIGHEST CHARTING of the SOLO LPs with KISS, but Ace & Paul clearly had the superior ones, but I think I’d have to give the edge to ACE! But listen to Gene’s FIRST solo LP. It sounds strange doesn’t it? But if you think THAT’S strange, just listen to his LAST effort, ***HOLE. It’s REALLY strange!

So here’s the deal. Peter is WAY too mellow to consistently put out a HEAVY solo LP. He also strays TOO much into the ‘Bing Crosby’ type of music. Gene OTOH tends to put out an LP that’s a ‘hodpodge’ of all KINDS of styles & is not really focused. Paul can actually deliver the goods. HIS first solo LP was described as the MOST KISS-LIKE! And I’d agree with that, but his most recent efort could’ve used a heavier edge as well.

But that leaves ACE! When he REALLY puts his mind to it, he puts out GREAT music. His first solo LP is indeed the HEAVIEST of the solo LPs! From what snippets of his NEW material I heard on Youtube sound like, I believe we’re in for a TREAT!

Do me a favor….. will you all go on Youtube and bitch at the kids on there who wouldn’t know KISS if it bit them on the ass and tell them THIS IS NOT KISS!
Whatever Gene is carting out year after year is a waste of time. Same dumb show…Same set list and some guy who thinks he’s Ace. But at 52 I was there from DAY ONE and they were good days to be a KISS fan! This mess now…..BAD! I hate to say it but i have no faith in their up coming Cd being very good at all if Paul and Gene’s solo records are a sample of where they both are with their music. Years ago i remember the one thing we’d all look forward too on a new KISS Lp (thats right i said LP…LOL) was Ace’s solo’s and song and thats been miss for a LONG TIME!

I’m looking forward to ACE’s new CD…and although it’s not the original KISS anymore, I am looking forward to some new material by them as well. I hope the album is as classic sounding as they say it is. I still wish ACE & PETER were in KISS…but I’ve accepted the fact they are not. Eric/Tommy/Eric C./Vinnie/Bruce and Mark all made up a version of KISS, (some good, some not so good.) Bottom line, I will always be a KISS fan and appreciate what they do. I just like the classic ORIGINAL version of the band the best! GOOD LUCK SPACE ACE!!

I’m so sick and tired of people moaning and groaning about Ace and Peter not being in KISS anymore look get over it already. The new KISS lineup kicks major A** I just saw them in Windsor and the show was great and if you check out the pics from the rest of the Canada dates looks like the cry babys are in the minority. I love ACE and Peter and can’t wait for ACE’s new album but for whatever reason the 4 of them can’t keep it together. Why don’t Eric S. and Tommy T or Bruce or Eric Carr ever have any trouble working with Gene and Paul year after year tour after tour??? The current KISS is great because they are bringing the KISS show to so many new people that may have never seen a KISS show before and its good old fashioned rock n roll and a great time which is what KISS is all about. The idiots can keep on crying for ACE and Peter and sit at home and miss out on all the fun oh well. Cant wait for the new KISS cd and tour see ya.

Ace & Peter ain’t the ONLY ones who couldn’t work with Paul & Gene. Let’s not forget Vinnie Vincent. I think he actually made Peter’s & Ace’s cause look legitimate. I mean, here was a guy who obviously had a LOT of talent but for SOME reason, he thought KISS should revolve around HIMSELF! Obviously Paul & Gene would have NONE of that!

But back to Ace & Peter. I think they BOTH had substance abuse problems back in the day even if they’re clean & sober now. I also think they BOTH couldn’t handle success like Gene & Paul could. Ya know, people can cry JEWISH about Gene & Paul & it’s true BUT…..THEY obviously had a better ‘business sense’ about how to do things, while Peter & Ace apparently acted like, “LET’S PARTY!” And in the end it cost them. Yet Paul & Gene get continually bashed BECAUSE of Peter & Ace. It gets a little ridiculous after awhile!

And let’s not forget that Peter ALSO thought that KISS revolved around HIMSELF as well. When he had some hit tunes, he got built up & thought he could ‘make it on his own’. But originally he acted like he wanted to be a PART of KISS. Did Peter USE KISS to try & get to a certain point with the intention that once he got successful enough, that he would abandon them & make it on his own?

I think ACE was cool enough & it’s known that when Gene & Paul wanted to do THE ELDER that ACE disapproved because HE thought KISS should return to a more ‘heavy metal’ kind of LP but Gene & Paul would have none of that. Although I like THE ELDER myself, I will agree that Ace was right & Gene & Paul were wrong. For that matter, I remember reading that even ERIC CARR thought they should return to a heavier sound. However, he was the new guy & what could he do?

KISS did return to the heavy sound with CREATURES OF THE NIGHT, IMHO one of their BEST LPs ever! But by then Ace was gone. Maybe that’s what Gene & Paul should’ve done to start with? If they had Ace might’ve stayed.

To the Kiss army twitter, It’s not that Ace & Peter did’nt want to be in Kiss Peter was getting a small paycheck and wanted his fair share (Granted he signed a contract) But if Gene wanted to keep the magic going, here’s a thought, give him his fair share! As for Ace he did’nt care about the money. He wanted the fans (Young & Old) to be happy. and have a chance to see the REAL KISS. The fairwell tour should have been just that! KISS isn’t KISS without Ace. Ace has the authentic KISS sound. I saw two shows with Thayer on lead guitar and he messes up every key riff originated by ACE. Teen boppers may not notice but this KISS Army veteran of 30 plus years notices the difference right away. Time for Gene to show some class & not be so effing greedy & give ACE and THE CAT a fair share and some respect. Do this Gene for KISS Army !!

Forget a KISS reunion. There is no reason to cry about this. Pish Posh. They all still get royalties for the characters. To me that would be better. Get paid and not have to deal with Gene Simmons.

Hey you guys! Ace’s new single ‘OUTER SPACE’ can now be heard online, even on his own site. It sounds great! I guess Ace really IS gonna deliver the goods!

But just so the original-KISS apologists can BEYOTCH some more, let me throw you a little morsel. Paul has said that the new KISS album is recorded in ANALOG, but Ace has said that HIS album is recorded in DIGITAL.

The reason Peter is not in KISS anymore is because he just got too old to play this music anymore.He really peaked on Kiss Alve 2.He is just not a good drummer-average at best. His best years was when he was drugged up. 100,000 Years solo on KISS Alive 1 was awesome!!!!He made so many mistakes on the last tour that it was embarrassing. Ace couldnt get along with Gene and had enuff, so it was a good idea he left the band.

Cant wait for ACE’s album. It will blow KISS’ Sonic Boom out of the water.

For crying out loud, some of you are emabarassing, if you call yourself KISS fans. KISS are great, Ace is great: be thankful that we have two entities producing great music again simultaneously. KISS ARE A MAKE UP BAND THAT SING HUGE ARENA ROCK ANTHEMS, AND ACE WILL NEVER BE IN KISS AGAIN. Tommy Thayer’s live value could be heard instantly on KISS symphony: they hadn’t sounded that raw and fresh for a long time. His live guitar solo spot leaves something to be dsired as he’s copyiing Ace (badly), he should do his own thing. BUT as KISS fans we have two great sources of new music going forward….enjoy!!!

Ace is great, but Bruce Kulick was great too. Give the Bruce some credit. They should have brought him back and let him wear his Dog make up he always talked about. Fake Ace Thayer just dont cut it. I love Eric Singer, sad to say he can out drum Peter, but please TAKE him OUT of the Catman make up.

I heard the new Kiss single on Kissonline abd it is an excellent song! If the rest of the songs on there are anything like this first one, they have a hit record on there hands. I’ve also heard some new stuff off of Ace’s new cd, it’s also excellent. As a fan, won’t it be great if both cd’s turn on to be excellent? What more can you ask for… it’s been a long time coming!

I play guitar today (33 yr player, and going strong) because of Ace Frehley. Long may he rock!

Ace I believe will cement himself as a classic hard rock blues based guitarist,eventually blurring the small rock generational gap between him and the likes of Pete Townsend, Jimmy Page, even Tony Iommi. I’m talking strictly about legacy and I believe that will be Ace’s legacy. He seems to have outgrown Kiss. Kiss was and is and always will be a band, Ace is an individual, and he can hold is own.

I hope he keeps off the booze. Anomaly sounds really focused and genuine, and from all accounts I’ve read Ace is a genuine guy, without any false pretences. His character echoes onto the tracks on Anomaly.

I now have Anomaly & it’s a great album! Of course I’d already heard it online but having the CD really makes it grow on you. Way to go Ace! Don’t think I’d rate it as good as his 1978 album but it’s certainly better than a lot of his Frehley’s Comet material.

Where is the review of this truly awesome album Anomaly ??? This album is as good or better than ANY KISS album. I was a huge Kiss fan , when you all were dissing them and now I am a total Space Ace fan .

ANOMALY ROCK’S (departure from the usual, abnormal)go ahead , look it up…You should be so proud Ace .

I think ANOMALY is the best Ace Frehley album ever! Thank you ACE!!!

I have also heard Sonic Boom album a few times, it has its moments but its missing something crucial: Ace and Peter.

Anyway, Anomaly is so good I can’t pick a favorite track. It changes each day. SPACE BEAR, blows away all of the guitar playing from Thayer. I can’t compare the two albums. Kiss is formula corporate rock. Ace’s album is genuine, heartfelt and imaginative; a work of art. Listen to Fractured Quantum for proof that Ace is better than ever.
Kiss’ album feels very 80s overall, whereas Ace has a lot of 70s style on Anomaly. His guitar riffs and chord structures prove to me he has gotten better over time, not worse like the Gene and Paul Show.
Both albums rock but I have to give Ace Frehleys’ Anomaly album 5 out of 5 stars and Kiss’ Sonic Boom 3.5 out 5 stars.

Never give up hope! That’s what Kiss is all about. This REUNION can, and WILL happen. Kiss is down to selling tickets for $17! They NEED Ace and Peter. A REASON to quit drinking Ace? You have a lovely wife and daughter: That’s MORE than a lot of people have. Thank the Lord. Kiss has done a lot of good for a lot of people – but not the FAKE Kiss, the REAL one. You are one of the greatest guitar players that ever lived: You inspired more kids to pick up the guitar than ANYONE else. Hang in there Ace, you should get a call from Gene soon.

I seen KISS in Cobo for the last time. Being from the east coast, it was a fascinating experience. KISS in Detroit. It doesn’t get any better. I have seen the band many times before and they have never disappointed me. Cobo was no exception. Tommy can really play, but he is no ACE. I look forward to buying ACE’s album. It will go in my CD changer right beside of Sonic Boom in between the 2 alive albums and of course Destroyer.

I’m a KISS fan from beginning to present, and ACE was excellent during his time. But he was drunk most of the time, and Peter was stoned. A good quality band needs to be tight and focused… not drunk, stoned and blasted day in and day out. I hope ACE has finally grown out of this phase… if not retire quietly.
