  • On a message posted on Kiss’ official Website, Gene Simmons said the band’s new, still-untitled album nearly complete and “Maybe the best record we’ve done in 30 years.” Fans will “have to wait a bit longer” for the name of the possibly Wal-Mart exclusive album, the band’s first since 1998’s Psycho Circus.

  • Prince will close out this year’s Montreux Jazz Festival on July 18th in Switzerland, Reuters reports. He’ll perform twice at this year’s fest, like when he performed at Montreux two years ago and encored his headlining performance with a 3 a.m. concert at a nearby jazz cafĂ©.
  • Allen Klein, the former manager of the Beatles and Rolling Stones and founder of ABKCO Records, passed away July 4th after a battle with Alzheimer’s, CNN reports. Klein was 77. Klein also held the copyright to music by the Kinks, Sam Cooke, the Animals, Chubby Checker and more.
  • Eric De La Cruz, a Nine Inch Nails fan who Trent Reznor helped get a heart transplant, passed away on July 4th. As Rock Daily reported last week, Reznor received proclamations from New York government officials honoring the NIN frontman for the work he did toward helping De La Cruz.

Kiss’ best album since Dynasty?

Mmmmmmmmmmkay then. Not something to brag about there, Gene.

I’m so sorry to hear about Eric. Trent did the best he could to save him, but alas, it was not meant to be. I hope he’s in a better place, free from pain and suffering. :(
