New York Congressman Calls Michael Jackson A “Child Molester,” Blasts Media Coverage

7/6/09, 3:07 pm EST

Congressman Peter T. King, a U.S. Congressman from New York’s Long Island, has come under fire from Michael Jackson fans after making some scathing statements about the King of Pop in a video this past weekend. Talking directly to the camera outside of the American Legion in Wantagh, New York, King said, “This low-life, Michael Jackson — his name, his face, his picture — is all over the newspaper, television, radio… Let’s knock out the psychobabble. He was a pervert, a child molester, he was a pedophile. And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what does it say about us as a country?” Jackson was acquitted of child molestation charges in 2005.

“I just think we’re too politically correct, no one wants to stand up and say, ‘We don’t need Michael Jackson,’ ” King added. “You know, he died, he had some talent. Fine. There’s people dying every day.” King, a Republican serving his seventh term as representative for Nassau County, was upset with the media’s coverage focused on Jackson’s death and not more pertinent world issues like the Iraq War. A rep for the Jackson family wouldn’t “dignify King’s statement with a comment,” the AP writes.

“There’s nothing good about this guy. He may have been a good singer, did some dancing… But the bottom line is, would you let your child or grandchild be in the same room as Michael Jackson? What are we glorifying him for,” King asks in the video. King later defended his statements in an interview with CNN, saying that even though Jackson was never convicted on child molestation charges, the fact that Jackson reached a monetary settlement with his accusers was evidence enough to support King’s statements. It’s safe to assume at King will not be watching tomorrow’s Jackson memorial service from Los Angeles’ Staples Center.

Is anyone going to point out the irony that him talking about Michael Jackson adds to the already exhaustive coverage?

Martha | 7/6/2009, 3:18 pm EST

I admire Mr. King’s bravery. Michael Jackson has millions of crazy fans who will believe his innocence but paying 20 million when you are supposedly innocent doesnt really ring true. Mr.King is saying what we are thinking but not saying outloud for fear of backlash, due to the media’s glorification of Michael Jackson.

Steve | 7/6/2009, 3:18 pm EST

If Jacko was acquitted and were still alive, would this constitute slander? Can you slander the dead? Any legal scholars know the answer?

Not to attack King, but did he run his mouth when Reagan died? The Iraq War was going on then. Reagan was a warmonger, ruthless capitalist/McCarthyite who invaded Grenada . . .

Further, if a settlement is tantamount to a confession, does he publicly hold this opinion for his corporate backers who have certainly settled cases “but admit to no wrongdoing” . . .

marge | 7/6/2009, 3:20 pm EST

the mans an idiot, don’t like him and never ever will, he should keep his nasty comments to himself and to say things like that on the eve of MICHAELS funeral is absolutely disgusting, he will be upsetting his family and fans. He shouldnt be in the position he is in.

harlequin | 7/6/2009, 3:21 pm EST

FYI Mr. King, there was a clause in the settlement which states that Jackson in no way acknowledges any wrongdoing by signing the settlement. And another clause which specifically states that a settlement in the civil case in no way affects the recipients’ right to testify in a criminal case. Moreover, it was a CIVIL case that was settled in 1993, not a criminal case (they just wanted damages -MONEY!). It was in the 2003 criminal case wherein Michael Jackson was TRIED and ACQUITTED on all counts. As a congressman one would think you would have at the very least done some research as to the facts of the case before spouting off to the media.

Haha | 7/6/2009, 3:21 pm EST

The opposite of bravery is talking shit about the dead.

Kathryn | 7/6/2009, 3:22 pm EST

As a legislator of this country, Mr. King should be intimately familiar with the phrase “innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.” Michael was not convicted because there was not enough evidence, and therefore it is presumed that he is innocent. I think that Mr. King’s comments are rude, inflammatory, and wholly unnecessary.

Shawn | 7/6/2009, 3:24 pm EST

Screw you Peter King, you’re a pathetic excuse for a human being. It’s easy to run your mouth about someone who’s not here to defend themself. You republicans can be trully ignorant sometimes. I’m so thankful you’re party is OUT of Office. Show some respect you judgemental prick. Michael Jackson never hurt anyone, but I guess you’re not smart enough to figure that out and the reasons how. He was a far better person than you’ll ever hope to be.

angel | 7/6/2009, 3:24 pm EST

this congress man gives a bad name to our beloved country he is a rasist \ some congress mas uses drug are unfaithfull to their wifes or corrupt but they dont say that about each other cuz they will be thrown to the hole so dont be so hipocript and live your live f*8kng racist.

harlequin | 7/6/2009, 3:25 pm EST

Yes, MJ’s fans, who have at least read up on the facts of the case, looked at the documents of settlement (leaked to the public, look it up in the smokinggun website) are crazy. While those who haven’t read anything except perhaps sensational headlines are not. Crazy too are the 12 impartial people on the jury who acquitted the man. Yeah that sounds about right.

leo3375 | 7/6/2009, 3:27 pm EST

If I were a gambling woman I’d be more than willing to bet money that Rep. King has a freaky fetish and/or weird perversion of his own.

Paulson | 7/6/2009, 3:29 pm EST

I may be wrong, but I believe Rep. King is irish-catholic. Let’s talk about pedophile priests,Mr.King. Long Island is a cesspool of bigoted morons.

surforia | 7/6/2009, 3:31 pm EST

steve,
i am an attorney, and although it’s not my speciality, his remarks aren’t slander because Michael Jackson is considered a “public figure.” People have a Constitutional right to free speach under the 1st Amendment, but sometimes such speech is considered slander. If he had called you or me a “child molester,” then it would probably be slander (unless, of course, it was true!).

Because MJ is a public figure, though, the Supreme Court decided in a famous case against Larry Flint (who had published a political cartoon where a celebrity preacher was shown banging his mother in an outhouse), that people have a right to comment about public figures b/c such commentary is a “matter of public concern.” Therefore, his comments aren’t slander – and it doesn’t matter if he’s dead or not.

KevinW | 7/6/2009, 3:33 pm EST

I just heard what this idiot congressman just said about Michael Jackson. I am told he says what is on his mind, so let me do the same. To call Michael Jackson all those nasty, mean spirited names is unspeakable. This congressman I would love to see what is in his closet and how many times has he cheated on his wife and kids. Let’s not talk about other people when we have dirt in our own closets. This congressman would not be saying these things about Elvis etc he is just saying all these nasty things because Michael was not only a star, a legend and gave more back then anyone in our life times. It’s a shame to have such an idiot in public office as this clown. Michael ackieved more by the age of 10 then this moran has his whole life. Your are shameful

To Martha | 7/6/2009, 3:34 pm EST

The civil case is the one that was settled, i.e., the parents of these children looking for money. The criminal case is the one in which Michael Jackson was found INNOCENT. Say what you will about his life, he was never convicted of any criminal wrongdoing.

JP | 7/6/2009, 3:34 pm EST

We need to elect this guy President. Finally, some public figure put this clusterf@ck of celebrity worship into the proper perspective. Come on! Would we be as fanatical about Michael Jackson if he was still alive. Look at the sales numbers and all the snide comments made about his messed up life. No, we won’t. Anybody has the right to complain about hypocrisy, it’s this guy and others like him who see this as the bullsh!t that it is.

whacko jacko they showed what he would have looked liked if he never changed his features

Big african fat nose and dark.

dont try to be something your not mr jackson.

Anonymous | 7/6/2009, 3:42 pm EST

I’m not really a Michael Jackson fan.

But that being said, I think this Congressman was WAY OUT OF LINE by that rant.

Michael Jackson was never convicted of anything, and was found innocent in a court of law. So these comments are total slander.

And it’s extremely disrespectful to Michael Jackson’s family and fans, who are still in a period of mourning.

Like I said, I was not particularly a fan of Michael Jackson’s music, but I won’t deny the fact that MJ touched a nerve with a lot of people, who hold him in high regard.

I think Peter King should have kept his opinion to himself.

Michael Jackson | 7/6/2009, 3:43 pm EST

Its Obvious the Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke who had his hearing for ripping off the coutnry of 700 billions dollars plus that day had his news news covered with the mysteroius death of mike jackson.

But of course the Rabbi came out and spoke about Jackson as his friend? lol yeah okay.

Henry Paulson on the 16th this moneth what death will be used to cover the fed/treasury crooked dealing on that day. ?

ROSE | 7/6/2009, 3:47 pm EST

I hope this person is not the norm in Congress. God help our country if he is.

Anonymous | 7/6/2009, 3:47 pm EST

surforia,

But wasn’t the Flynt thing only pertaining to when it was done in the form of ’satire’? I could have sworn so.

Peter King wasn’t being ironic, or satirical in his rant. That was serious.

MIKE | 7/6/2009, 3:48 pm EST

I HAPPEN TO AGREE WITH KING IF WE KNEW THE FACTS THAT WERE WITHHELD FROM THE PUBLIC. WE WOULD LOOK AT IT AS ANOTHER PETTIFILE OFF THE STREETS. SPEAKING FROM A FATHER OF 4…

ben | 7/6/2009, 3:50 pm EST

For a congressman to disdain from the justice system for a more seditious media influenced one fuelled by sadism….says a lot about their character. I do not hold contempt for this man, just sympathy

stereotypes | 7/6/2009, 3:50 pm EST

He’s a politician, he should be careful not to damage whatever remnants of credibility he may have. Unfortunately he proves that they never really do depart from stereotype.
Nice contribution to the world muppet

A concerned PARENT | 7/6/2009, 3:53 pm EST

I agree with most people on here but the ones who are using the 20 million as an excuse to say that Michael was guilty, I would hope to God you are not parents. If anyone ever touched my child this is no way on God’s green earth that any amount of money would make that ok. No caring parent would ever not go after his butt legally and get him put behind bars. Not only for what he did to my child but also the future harm he would do to other children. I can see however and have see where people pay money to have things go away even if they didn’t do it to save the horror of a trial. You have to think about this is a parent and I can say without any doubt that if he did it there would have bene no amount of money that made that ok. I would also leave my child with michael jackson faster than I would leave her with some hate spewing man who feels its ok to belittle dead people who achieved so much in the lifetime.

Anonymous | 7/6/2009, 3:54 pm EST

Mr.King should make a public apology to Michael Jackson’s family. There was no CREDIBLE evidence found in these accusations against Mr. Jackson.

How DARE he. I have so many names to call him, but I won’t, because that doesn’t help anything.

It’s just so inappropriate to say. He (MJ) has kids. Why go on a rant about that?

Everyone has their opinions, and that’s fine, but there’s a time to say them in public and a time to keep them to yourself.

As person in higher government, he should probably watch what he says.

That’s all I have to say about this scumbag.

cc | 7/6/2009, 4:18 pm EST

These are just disgusting comments made by this selfish and freak politician. What prove he has to make such foolish statements. Lets face it, how many people are perfect in their lives.Even if he has done mistakes, the guy needs respect from his fellow countrymen specially from these weird congressmen, who themselves are dispensable but Michael will always stay in hearts and be indispensable. Salute you Michael for all the amazing achievements and accolades from every corner of the world. Millions and Millions of people love you. Who cares if a few pricks hate you because they themselves are losers.

Swingline | 7/6/2009, 4:24 pm EST

Who elects pig-headed trash like this?

Say what you want about the OPINIONS you may have about MJ’s case(s), but coming out with a statement that stupid just shows how unqualified elected officials have to be in this country.

Truth be told, I don’t want to hear my local congressman talking about MJ, unless it’s a brief word, and then moving on to the business at hand.

And in generalizing Michael’s life so much (he sang, he danced, big whoop), he’s got a big set of balls to act like he doesn’t mingle with unethical perverts that generate government paychecks on a daily basis.

The notion of another congressman getting into an adulterous affair and ruining the lives of everyone around them has been played over so many times that it doesn’t even matter anymore.

And if this guy spent even a day looking real people in the eye, it’d be easy to see Michael’s life and music affected people more than most ever will. You don’t have to agree with everything the man did to accept that, but there is little doubt to the influence of MJ’s work.

C.D. Smith II | 7/6/2009, 4:24 pm EST

I applaud Mr. King for standing up and speaking the truth. The fact that Congress held a moment of silence for Michael Jackson, a drug addict and child molester, is beyond me. There are so many other people in this world doing great things for humanity that should be honored way before Michael Jackson. His death was tragic, but more than likely Michael Jackson killed himself with drugs, so B-O-O H-O-O. The real tragedy is the important issues that are being pushed aside to cover this ridiculous circus of circumstances surrounding his death.

cc | 7/6/2009, 4:25 pm EST

BTW- we also have hear ton of disgusting news everyday about our fellow politicians like you, who have extra marital affairs and then they apologize to the public for deceived them to get votes. Shame on such people. Before you accuse someone, look at what you do to people just to stay in power.

Enough said!

well maybe also he played with little children and looked like scary!! Jason from Friday the 13th lol

MOI | 7/6/2009, 4:35 pm EST

The media were always made up JUNK about him when he never did anything wrong. he was FRAMED ppl, bcos some poverty stricken sickos wanted to be millionaires, (why dont you haters google michael jackson framed and see, look at the Chandlers background and see, the father once took out all of his patients teeth bcos he was so psycho and he said, “And if I go through with this, I win big-time. There’s no way I lose. I’ve checked that inside out. I will get everything I want, and they will be destroyed forever. June will lose [custody of the son]…and Michael’s career will be over.”
Surely if there was ANY truth in the case it would be about justice and not what you want ($) it was all because of money and who ever doesnt believe that is on the side of the twisted media who have ruined nearly every celebrities life(for example princess diana and who can forget Britney)- they say fame comes with a price and they’re right. Its about time ppl spoke out for MJ, today’s media makes me sick. oh ye i forgot us congressmen are perfect, they know everything about everything dont they? NOT

Diosa | 7/6/2009, 4:36 pm EST

You know I cannot belive that all of those that are decrying the media coverage Michael Jackson is getting was not dancing to at least one of his songs in their lives! I also cannot believe that someone who was elected to serve in our legislative branch would be such a jackass as to totally ignore the fact that ‘presumed innocent until proven guilty’ is something to just brush under the rug. He settled out of court? Well wouldn’t you if you had the money to do so and was under an exhaustive media attack? Wouldn’t you again, if you had the money, and was constantly being threatened to be sued unless you ‘paid up’ and last but not least, last I checked the man is DEAD, now isn’t it truly very easy to throw dirt on him now when he is unable to defend himself? SHAME ON YOU and SHAME on the fact that you’re one of the lawmakers in this country! You sound like a narrow-minded, witch hunter, who even though a person was found ‘not guilty’ by a jury of their peers, it’s not enough for you. So climb aboard your horse and ride off like a ‘good ole boy’ shoud do!

DC | 7/6/2009, 5:25 pm EST

I sort of agree. No, we can’t say he was a child molester, he was acquitted of that. But we have to admit that for the last 15+ years, MJ did nothing but ruin the legacy that he’d built. He WAS inappropiate with children, he DID physically turn himself into an alien, he WAS a financial disaster (including accepting money for deals that he never concluded), and he WAS a socially unstable human being.
The very fact that everyone suddenly ignores all of that, just because he’s dead (yes, I’m making little of the fact that he’s dead) is appalling. Shame on all of you for your idol worship.

Finally | 7/6/2009, 5:31 pm EST

It is about time someone spoke out. This is ridiculous, all we haev been plastered with is images 20 years ago and like the past 20 never happened. When MJ was on, he was magical, since he was a pedophile. I think it is wonderful how sharpton and others have come out acting like he was some black activist. The man was bleaching his skin.

Pathetic!!!… I hate this old Pro-war people… people like him make the problems in this world…
1. Michael Jackson was innocent wich the accusor admited himself!
2. No other singer has impacted so many lives in such a good way, ofcourse the world is mourning. It’s a huge loss.
3. Sure a soldier is a loss, but a soldier is expected to be lost, and respect to them for protecting the innocent. Maybe if nobody enlisted into the army WORLDWIDE, we could have peace. It’s not the government, it’s us!
I wish nobody gave this guy attention so when he passes, he will go without a tear from a single person… FU*KIN LOSER!

Saleem | 7/6/2009, 5:37 pm EST

Don’t pay this low-life any attention. He could only dream that he has anything close to the God-given talent of this awesome entertainer.

Then again who is the guy??? Never even heard of him before now.

Trey | 7/6/2009, 5:41 pm EST

Martha… you say paying someone 20 (22 million) if you are innocent doesn’t ring true… to counter that… if you’re child is molested in such a way described in the case, what kind of parents would accept 22 million instead of punishing the accused… they knew what they were aiming for. Michael Jackson didn’t touch a child in any sexual way. Michael Jackson wanted to be a child since he never had a chance to be one. He wanted to do what kids do and many kids sleep in the same bed during sleepovers and such. He was fulfulling what he didn’t have as a child. Chances are, you’ve had an uncle come closer to mollesting you than Michael Jackson did to that Jordy Chandler character…

Queenie | 7/6/2009, 5:42 pm EST

Finally – someone with the balls to speak the truth. We’ve become so damned politically correct that we’ve become a spineless nation. King makes some valid points and I respect the fact he has some balls. Any moron can see that Michael Jackson was a liar – he stated in one interview that his white skin and re-sculpted face was the result of normal growing. Please!!! Go ahead and love your heroes but don’t deceive yourself – delusion is a dangerous game.

kk | 7/6/2009, 5:45 pm EST

ok king for the comments u did on jackson were very wrong.i think u have to shut ur mouth.u have no right to talk like that about such a great person.

Josh | 7/6/2009, 5:50 pm EST

Michael Jackson was a child molester people, he was a very disturbed man and people who defend him have no morals what so ever! If you all are this blind I would hate to be your child! Michael Jackson paid millions in settlements to children he molested. His house was raid and plenty of proof was found, the only reason he got off the 1st time around was because he paid that kid 20 million dollars to settle!

I used to like his music, no one doubts the man had talent but he was a pedophile and YOU all know it.

All of you need to get some brains, if you can not see the truth about him then something is really bad wrong with you, do you think God will reward you for idolizing a devil?

Man no wonder this world is going to hell in a hand basket, everyone is supporting the work of the devil.

Its discusting….

Who are you to judge | 7/6/2009, 5:50 pm EST

Mj Did a lot more then congressman they held a moment for him because in his time mj dontaed a lot of money to proverty stricken countrys, also donated to aids research which a lot more then what are goverment does and the irony is that is mad about press well instead of feeding fuel to the fire you should stick to what you know troops and teachers oh no wait you rather slander someone what ever happen to proven innocent, didnt chandler come out and said he was force to lie about what happen everyone that has sued was after money and I am a victom of child molestation if it were me I would want to prosucte instead of getting money I would rather see my abuser rot in jail then take any amount of money, they all wanted money not to send mj to jail if he really did do this the truth would of been out the moment he died I dont belive he did this and for people and pete to slander someone who is dead and proven innocent is disgusting. This just proves my dislike for republicans point the finger but when they do something they try to hide it and apologize to the public, so you wanted your 15min of fame pete here there are go do your job instead of spouting at the mouth go talk about rush limbaugh and other dirty goverment officals you racist prick

thia | 7/6/2009, 5:50 pm EST

Michael Jackson was a tremendous influence on the music industry. He had a huge talent and he was great in his prime. In the past few years he’s been nothing but weird. He has been acquitted of child molestation. But he will always have the stigma of being a molester. As far as the media attention – you ain’t seen nothin yet!! Remember when Anna Nicole Smith died suddenly?? Michael Jackson is far more of a celebrity and we had to listen to all the speculation surrounding her death and who dat baby daddy?? And blah blah blah ad nauseum. And we still have to celebrate little Danni Lynns birthday and Christmas. So all you haters are gonna have to change the channel. People will pick apart every single thread of Michael Jackson’s life and times. RIP Michael and Anna Nicole and Elvis and Jimi and so on and so on

Jeff | 7/6/2009, 5:52 pm EST

How about that – a conservative who doesn’t believe in our justice system.

Parents – would YOU take $20 million from a BILLIONAIRE if he molested your kids? Didn’t think so.

Rep. King will be caught in a bathhouse with young men sometime soon. Mark my words.

k | 7/6/2009, 5:55 pm EST

Shame on people who think it is idol worship. It is a question of giving some respect to the greatest singer and an amazing human being who was not just a good singer but a good human being. Who is perfect in this world? He just became victim by people, who were jealous of his fame and wanted to extort money. He was mistreated when alive, at least show some humanity not to do that when he is dead. He will still be alive in people’s hearts for the longest time to come.

Maloney | 7/6/2009, 5:56 pm EST

to sum up the dumb comments people will make…
1 .Jordan Chandler confessed he lied for his father and that Michael Jackson didn’t molest him. (22 Million was the value of that lie.) Michael Jackson was NOT a pedophile. Proven!
2. Michael Jackson did NOT bleach his skin for no reason. Read about Vitiligo. It’s a skin disease and i’m sure you’ve seen people with it. You lose pigment in bloches. It’s either, be covered in white bloches. He bleached using a medical procedure so he wasn’t filled with spots. This was the start of the infamous glove. For most people, the disease starts at the hands. So go ask a family who had there child molested… would they accept $22 million instead of servicing the bastard that touched them and they will agree that Jackson was innocent. (aside from the fact that Jordy confessed recently). You don’t like how much converage this news is getting, don’t watch… go do something productive.

People how stupid you are, YES the freak did not molest the last kid who sued him, it was true it was a set up, BUT… Michael Jackson did molest a lot of kidsd prior to this and HE settled OUT of court millions ands millions of dollars, and YES they had plenty of proof to convict him when he was 1st accused, but sadly CA law saved him since at the TIME the kid who was molested had to testify so Jackson paid them off, the laws were changed because of this. He was a pervert child molester, the facts are clear like OJ he had the money to get out of it.

People need to stop defending people who are guilty just because of race or superstardom, it does not take a smart person to know Jackson was disturbed and hell people most of you are defending him because he was a black man in the 1st place what does that say for us as a community? That we don’t know right from wrong for one. And the man clearly rather be with white people anyways than his own race, all his so called women where white.

We need to start making our decisions about people based on what and who they are not what color they are, you just don’t defend a guy like this because he is the same color as us and everyone I know is only defending him because he was an black man we all know he was nasty old pervert!

Who are you to judge | 7/6/2009, 6:04 pm EST

Lets not forget he was proven innocent I was once abused, and I would rather see my offender in jail then accpect any kind of money, these mocchers wanted a settlement and they go one and chandler came out and said his father made him do it, so for pete and others like him to say that he is a child molester is wrong HE WAS PROVEN INNOCENT, what about all these congressman who are in the closet gay but yet appose to gay marrige or the ones who cheat on there wives or rush limbaugh abusing pills or the goverment taking money and stealing and its so funny that he is adding to the fuel go away YOU REDNECK FROM NEW JERSEY AND EAT SHIT

Reigna | 7/6/2009, 6:09 pm EST

Mr. King, what have you done for the world? If you are so put off by all of this coverage about ‘the ‘The King of Pop Michael Jackson, then why are you giving it more attention? What great thing will you do today or tomorrow or this year huh? Michael Jackson is not a criminal. Like the song says “they don’t really care about us!” We have been completely ripped off and robbed by the very people that are supposed to be helping us, Mr Congressman. Why don’t you tell the US citizens the truth about..why we are in a recession. They have created these problems in order to take control. We the US have been raped by all them and their staged performances. This is where we should focus blame for hurting people, even killing people with things like the bird and swine flu and the list goes on forever. Anyway, GOD BLESS THE KING OF POP AND GOD BLESS US, WE NEED IT.

ken | 7/6/2009, 6:09 pm EST

This idiot should be voted out of office for saying such a nasty thing about one of the greatest man that ever lived…MJ brought so much joy to the world and what did this idiot do for the world. His allegations have been proved to be false…so what is he talking about..crazy man

Who are you to judge | 7/6/2009, 6:10 pm EST

I was abused and I would never accpect money as a way to make things better, I rather see my abuser in jail, thoes people did it for money, and MJ is always going to have that stigma he was proven innocent but yet people still want to keep him in a guilty light go read the smoking gun he was innocent

Gerald | 7/6/2009, 6:10 pm EST

Maloney you need to do better research yeah your right that 1 kid lied which is very sad, but look at the case prior they had 100% proof that he did molest many kids, he is a preditor who had enough money to get away with it! The state of CA had to change there laws because of MJ. Prior to the new laws the molester could pay off the victims and without vistim testimony there was no case EVEN with all the proof that was aquired. He did it many times and got away with it, there was bound to be people who would try to get in on the pay outs who he never touched. Sad thing is now that 1 person falsely accused this sick man now idiots like you think oh well he never did it at all, this is not the case. This congressman knows there is proof which is why he made his statement, he caqn not be sued , he won’t be sued because CA has plenty of proof that Michael Jackson was guilty, which is WHY he settled almost 100 million bucks in multiple law suits over the years.

it’s really pissin me off how the damn media keeps talkin about all the bad stuff mj supposedly did ! they aint even focusing on the good things he did…this man has made wonderful music and has did alot for the people in africa…for goodness sakes let mj rest in peace..fuck the man who called him a child molestor…mj loved kids why would he moleste kids?..i mean how fuckin cruel could you be to talk about the dead like that?…FUCK EVERYBODY WHO HAS ANYTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT MICHAEL JACKSON!

g | 7/6/2009, 6:28 pm EST

Can we ask this politician, what good he has done in his life? I think, he is a loser. Everyone respects the people in Iraq, afganisthan or anywhere in the world who have fought for their countries, but can someone ask him, who creates these circumstances for those people to die. Yes- these are created by the selfish politicians who can stoop to the lowest level to mint votes and stay in power. MJ was far better from such dirty old politicians and their filthy politics who do nothing good for anyone.

Alfred Valle | 7/6/2009, 6:41 pm EST

I agree. All this news about Michael Jackson is sickening. He was a child molester and the news still praises him.

Amy | 7/6/2009, 6:45 pm EST

He was not a pervert and a pedophile! He was a loving father of three who would “slit his wrists” before harming a child. He was a quitted you idiot congressman! He was the most talented singer/dancer of the milennium!!!

cchat555 | 7/6/2009, 6:48 pm EST

If you are so upset about the news coverage why would you hold a news conference to discuss this topic? You are a hypocrite. If you had your life under a microscope what would we find? That you are a no better? You suck KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND STOP TRYING TO RIDE HIS COAT TAILS!!! LEACH!

Willow | 7/6/2009, 6:51 pm EST

This clown is using the death of Michael Jackson to get attention. Everyone knows that politians do this to draw the public’s eye to themselves. Apparently he has nothing else to do but to try and offend the memory of Michael who was a very talented man. Sorry Peter King of New York; its not gonna work. Your stupid remarks only made you look like a worthless troll so shut up and let Michael rest in peace………………..

Anonymous | 7/6/2009, 6:52 pm EST

The media needs to stop talking about MJ as if he was a momster. A young boy and his mother lied in court about MJ molesting him and the media was quick to jump in and say he did it. Let the man rest in peace in the arms of GOD.

Mcfly | 7/6/2009, 6:52 pm EST

Intresting note in US history. The man broke racial barriers, sold a billion records, became the biggest star in the world and everyone loved him.

The effects of a terrible father, bieng a transitioning child star, and pressure that noone should ever have to endure wrecks havoc on his mental condition.

He starts to show signs of trouble and the media starts to poke at him instead of live him.

Mike cracks, the music suffers, and he goes in a dark direction that inludes molesting children. Several court cases enduse, the media and public despise and hate him, and he is basically ran out of the US.

Mike dies and all almost takes the Internet with him, suddenly he is a champion for african Americans, the media cannot stop covering him, and there is actual pressure in the president of the united states to make a public statment about us losing a great American.

Only in America.

Mike dies

Crazy C | 7/6/2009, 6:58 pm EST

I am shocked at this man in a government position talking like this about anyone! He promotes war and all the other crooked underhanded things our government and high ranking officials do. I support and care for our troops just as well as any other, but they should not be over there fighting meaningless wars or any war at that. Michael is and always will (to me) be the greatest entertainer of all time…and was against these very people who scrutinize him not because they scrutinized him but because they did so maliciously. You praise the presidents of this great nation and decade after decade their contributions never come close to the contributions Michael made. Call him what you will but all who agree with king is living a lie. And needs to let go of all these conforming ways. There are people like Michael trying to tell you things but you can’t listen to a pedophile who was never convicted of anything…lol. I know of people in similar situations like Michael as far as pedophile and crap and unless you know that person, you don’t know! not a damn soul here knows anything about Michael but his contributions. The rest is something nobody really knows, so grow up and live ya’ll lives…if your not a fan don’t get mad at the fans for celebrating someone who in their eyes was and always will be. btw I do agree with some things King says but none solely concerning Michael!

Prove it, ANYONE | 7/6/2009, 7:03 pm EST

Provide some proof that MJ is guilty and I will never argue about it again…. oh, wait, you CANT!

gabriel | 7/6/2009, 7:09 pm EST

Michael Jackson was possibly a pedo and likely a drug abuser. Toss out those two minor faults, and I might disagree with Rep. King.

As it stands, this is another attempt to distract from the fact that Michael Jackson was possibly a pedow and likely a drug abuser.

What? | 7/6/2009, 7:09 pm EST

Can someone tell me how paying off the parents doesn’t make the parents just as guilty of extortion?

Juris Doctor | 7/6/2009, 7:31 pm EST

I can tell there are no lawyers on this site. No matter what you think of the man he made a strategic decision in settlinga CIVIL case. If someone touched my child the last thing I’d want is some money. When Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman were murdered what hapened? Criminal trial THEN civil. It disturbs me that people so blindly follow the media and their idols. Though I seriously doubt the allegations (there was nothing more than conjecture and no credible witnesses or evidence) I do think MJ had an unhealthy fascination w/ children. And its that fascnation which made him susceptible to these allegations. Furthermore, the comments made by Peter King are disturbing. The man just died, he’s got family, and 3 children that knw him as their father. How would he feel if someone slandered him on tv?

m.m. | 7/6/2009, 7:31 pm EST

Please let M.J. rest in peace. He lived in enough hell while he was alive! Remember him for the good his music, his dancing, and his charities. Move on!!!

PC | 7/6/2009, 7:37 pm EST

The real low life in all of this is that bigoted Congressman, who doesn’t even deserve the surname he carries! Perhaps the hapless, political goon can’t handle the truth that if the two of them were to stand side by side, the real KING would always be MJ, while the sad politician would be nothing more than another snake who is seeking notoriety at the expense of a deceased hero!

laneey33 | 7/6/2009, 7:38 pm EST

I really feel that this man shouldn’t be in office anymore, how many congressmen are in the news for having sex with someone other then their wives, i’m not saying that pete king is one of these people but I could make generalizations as well, and call him an adulterer, I feel ashamed that I am from nys, and that people have elected this iggnorant man as a person in power. I think that he is sorely mistaken, michael jackson was very innocent, and never charged with anything, and those very people that he speaks of, every person living in america is one of those people because we are fighters, and that is what Michael Jackson was, he was an amazing person, I think that this man seriously needs to sit down and listen to michael jackson’s songs all he ever wanted to do is help this country, but iggnorant people like this man made it impossible!! So what I really want to say is that what you have to say doesn’t matter because to millions of people think this man is and will forver be a king, not you it may be your last name but all you would be good for is the scum on the bottom of michael jacksons shoes while he’s dancing….
thanks.

Bruce | 7/6/2009, 7:38 pm EST

M.j is a nasty pedofile and none of the good music will ever overshadow the bad things he did to kids. he is a sick individual and anyone who honors him is sick too!!! He is a freak of nature who deserved to die a long time ago for what he did!!!!! What is wrong with America?

bellaboo41670 | 7/6/2009, 7:43 pm EST

i praise this governour for standing up and finally saying something! what has michael jackson done in the last 10 yrs? he has had to pay off families for molestation, abused drugs and went so deep in debt he would never see the light of day.are we sure he didnt accept the tour dates for the up front money then have the doctor overdose him?just a thought.i have sorrow for the family and wish them a peaceful healing time for their son. but come on america he was not a hero or icon or role model for our children. we shouldnt honor this person as a saint but pity him for the terrible choices he made and miserable last days he suffered from the addictions.please lay the man to rest admit hewas a druggy and let america focus on more important things.

Sense | 7/6/2009, 7:44 pm EST

“Innocent until proven guilty”… and after proven innocent we’ll all call you guilty anyway? Makes total sense to me, yes that was sarcasm. The truth is no one knows what did or did not happen except Michael Jackson himself and the children who were his apparent “victims”. We insist on bad mouthing people when they are gone, calling them unbelievable things when they aren’t here to defend themselves. But the truth is we are in no position to speculate, it isn’t our right to comment on someones life when we know nothing about it. As a musician he was great, as a public figure he was idolised by some and ridiculed by others, but as a father, a son, a brother and a friend, who are we to even attempt to presume what happened in his life? Is it accurate to call this man brave for branding MJ with this title? Perhaps, but the truth is as much as he would have had to endure harsh responses from fans, there are those out there who will support what he has said, believing they too have the right to say such things. It’s time to let Michael Jackson rest, allow him some peace after the chaos of the past years. We will never know what happened despite how much we like to think we do. There’s a family grieving for their loved one and friends in mourning for their dear companion, let it be. Finally listen to his song and leave him alone.

John | 7/6/2009, 7:47 pm EST

Peter King is way out of line. In this country we have gotten used to presuming guilt, thereby enabling liars and dishonest prosecutors. This needs to end. By repeating unsubstantiated allegations as though they were proven facts Peter King is attacking the right of every American to due process, a fair trial and a dignified return to society following acquittal.

“Innocent until proven guilty” is more than just a slogan. Nobody benefits when we condemn innocent people — people who have never in their lives been convicted of a crime.

Joe Shmoe | 7/6/2009, 7:49 pm EST

Congratulations to MR. KING for speaking his mind and telling the truth and not following society like the brainwashed “sheeple” that run the government-media complex and are so afraid to be called racists or extremists they hide under politcal correctness. So sad!!!

John | 7/6/2009, 7:49 pm EST

I’ll also point out that the boy who accused him had a long history of collaborating with his screwball mother in shaking down celebrities for money. Their testimony was highly non-credible. No wonder he was found not guilty.

John | 7/6/2009, 7:51 pm EST

The politically correct thing is to call MJ a pedophile, without evidence. The courageous thing to do is to defend him. This is the same mentality that prevailed during the Duke Lacrosse case, and it isn’t to the credit of people like Peter King.

Alllllllieeeeee | 7/6/2009, 7:53 pm EST

i think that the congressmen has a point that we need to celebrate our troops over sees…but i dont agree when he says michael has contributed nothing but dancing and singing….mj has made so many donations to a wide variety to charities and countries…we love and will miss you michael!!

Barb | 7/6/2009, 7:54 pm EST

Thank you Representative King for saying it like it is about Michael Jackson . . . it just proves how little we value vulnerable children.

Alllllllieeeeee | 7/6/2009, 7:58 pm EST

ohh and one more thing…oboma likes him! yaaayuuuh!!

LaFlare | 7/6/2009, 8:11 pm EST

Lets look at the facts – Michael Jackson had a messed up life as a child, his father was highly abusive & kept him from having a child life – that is why Michael Jackson opened Neverland Ranch — to give children good memories that would stay with them – and for the molestation charges-NOBODY KNOWS THE TRUTH–NOT his mother, NOT his siblings, AND CERTAINLY NOT this man. The children whom he was accused of molesting were most likely branched from the first case, as a way to get money , aka EXTORTION. Be sensible & let this man rest in peace.

Keith Adams, Nashville, TN | 7/6/2009, 8:30 pm EST

Did anyone notice that NBC news tonight reported the LA Michael Jackson memorial before they reported the seven Americans killed in Afghanistan? Sicking. Disgusting.

This is what this country has come to.

Brian | 7/6/2009, 8:33 pm EST

Leave MJ alone? another britney type fan. The Congressman had it right. He was a pedophile. He may have been acquitted in the last trial but what about the accusations from years ago. You know where he paid the family off? Sounds guilty to me. I like some of his music but enough already.

Cathie | 7/6/2009, 8:34 pm EST

I think this Congressmen will never be re-elected!! **First off, Michael Jackson was AQUITITED of any crimanl charges. Second, if this “congressmen” would do his homework before he shouts off at the mouth, he would know that Michale Jackson’s civil lawsuit was all about money from the jump start. The parents of the kid that was supposedly molested, would not follow up with criminal charges…proof positive they only wanted money – not justice!!!
Thrid – Congressmen Jerk….Michael Jackson has kids, and a mother and brohter and sisters. What terrible things to say about someone who was truly beloved throughout the world!
SHAME ON YOU!

Your Conscience | 7/6/2009, 8:37 pm EST

Careful all those who are judging. You too will have to stand before God and will be judged according to how you judged others.

What have you done that others don’t know about? Careful — someone may find out and you too may be judged.

Funny how that works.

jx | 7/6/2009, 8:38 pm EST

I think that in order to accuse someone of horrible things you should have some kind of proof to back it up. I think this man’s statements were cruel and inappropriate but most of all disrespectful to Michael Jackson his family and all his fans that loved him so much.

Jim | 7/6/2009, 8:39 pm EST

Atleast he should feel good to know they wont be wasting too much time on the air on him when HE dies!!! Jerk!!!!!

MJ was an icon around the world. Covering his death is appropiate. More than half the world cares about it and wants to see and knwo abou it.
KEEP UP THE GOOD POSITIVE WORK MEDIA!!! There are plenty of hours in the day for all the news!
~~Oh yeah…and MJ was aqquitited of all criminal charges that he faced.~~

Brett Kash | 7/6/2009, 8:53 pm EST

FUPK. MJ wasn’t a bad person. Dude a had a tough life but and did some great things for other people and for the world of music. We’re celebrating is life, accomplishments, and legacy. What did you ever do that was so great? NOTHING!

Serena | 7/6/2009, 8:55 pm EST

The circus that surrounded MJ sometimes literally will not die down until he is buried, this congress dude is just giving his opinion, probably because the whole jackson person and music just isnt his cup of tea and he does not have any idea how popular someone who is after all an entertainer can get wall to wall coverage when riots and war are going on all over – i really enjoy jackson’s music but there is a context that singers and actors and entertainers have become more important than people who sign the laws that bankrupt us or set us up to die on foreign soil.

Pamela | 7/6/2009, 8:57 pm EST

Congressman Peter T. King, a U.S. Congressman…Thank you for havin g the courage to share your opinion. I am appauled how America is treating this. He was talented yes but a very sick man and he is forgiven? Just like OJ…sick sick sickening.
We are all entitled to our opinions and I believe his own demons tortured him and he could not take it anymore. Maybe he felt so overcome with guilt.

Regardless why he died, a perverted man is dead. Get over it. He was only a man, not Jesus or God for petes sakes.

Proud American | 7/6/2009, 9:44 pm EST

You can all be upset with how Peter King said it for as long as you want but the simple fact remains… Michael Jackson was an intelligent adult at the time of the accusations of his indiscretion with children. It is his responsibility as an adult to know better than to entertain youths at his ranch. There is no excuse for how he chose to spend his time, guilty or not what he did was wrong. It is time that adults in this country are held accountable for their actions and choices – Peter King is only exercising his right as an American to speak his mind, and your comments are his responsibility. His decision seems to me a much better one than Michael Jackson had made given the same media attention.

santhus | 7/6/2009, 9:50 pm EST

The congressman chose a wrong forum to unleash his venom against MJ. Mr. impeccable Congressman. Remember the sanctimonious, people of Israel who wanted to stone a woman for suspicion of adultery? Christ challenged them with a question; that if none of them never committed a sin, let that person first cast a stone at the woman. Are you too young to remember that? First, the comment was beneath the office of a congressman. No right thinking person would accuse a person who is not available to confront his accuser. MJ is dead; if he were a culprit or sinner, let his God judge him, not a confused hypocritical congressman who makes laws that have two faces. MJ was the most intelligent and generous person of his time. He was a musical logician, and his legacy has stood the taste of time. Mr. Congressman, when you die, you would have to pay your next door neighbor to walk past where they would place you. Clear your heart of prejudice so that it would be well with you. Mr. Congressman you can kiss your next term Goodbye!!!

Tom | 7/6/2009, 10:02 pm EST

truth sure sees the venom in people come out lol

RIP MJ | 7/6/2009, 10:14 pm EST

Another typical example of people who talk out their ass about something they have no idea. You’ve based your opinion on Michael Jackson from what the media has told you. A source that is known to sensationalize facts or even blatantly lie in order to make money…excellent source gentleman!!

The facts of the case make it quite obvious that Evan Chandler and his lawyer Barry Rothman fabricated the entire story. The reality of the case goes much deeper than “Michael Jackson paid the kid off therefore he’s guilty”. There were other things to consider like Jackson’s health problems (he had been in rehab), the reputation and concequence a trial would have on his income and career (his last trial he was aquitted and people still don’t believe him), the reputation of the lawyers, the risk that the jury wouldn’t side with Jackson because of his eccentricities (jury made up of white upper middle class conservatives), not to mention all the media attention and misinformation that was already public knowledge.

At the time, it was safer to pay the money and move on. That doesn’t make him guilty.

The settlement documents outright acknowledge that no sexual relationship existed between Michael Jackson and Jordan Chandler to which ALL PARTIES AGREED.

It’s amazing how everyone believes Michael Jackson was a child molestor when the whole case is based on a drug induced accusation from ONE 13 year old boy…I’m shocked by the shallowness of some people’s minds.

Do research and think for yourself before you make your conclusion.

If you want more info on the case read Mary Fisher’s article in GQ from 1994.

Pamela G. | 7/6/2009, 10:24 pm EST

To the other Pamela. Please tell me what Michael Jackson and OJ Simpson have in common, other than both being black men. I guess we know what you are. all Rep King, and anyone else who is tired of the coverage of Michael Jackson, have to do is turn it off. Michael Jackson was a very talented individual and a great humanitarian who supported many causes and charities. I am proude to be counted among the millions of fans.

LS | 7/6/2009, 10:29 pm EST

How sad that you have no concept of the law. Please educate yourself, Congressman (how pathetic and sad for your district) before you start spouting off about this when much of the country is mourning not only an astonishing performer, businessman & musical genius (sing & dance a little? pulease!!), but also a gentle & kind-hearted humanitarian. I suggest you do a lttle more research into MJ’s contributions and stop reading the trash mag headlines. This has nothing to do with whether we all honored the 4th of July properly- I don’t even understand your correlation. ODD! “nothing good about this guy”? YOU THINK THIS IS BECAUSE EVERYONE IS TOO PC TO SAY ANYTHING? I am dumbfounded at your sophomoric rhetoric. Seriously. Figures you are a narrow-minded Republican. Pity to your district. Just sad.
And yes, I would let my children hang out with MJ and yes, I honored my family members who are serving overseas as well. Go figure- adults can multi-task.

Vivian | 7/6/2009, 10:31 pm EST

Jackson had a very tough time of life but when it all is said and done, no matter how much good you do in the world, or how much joy you bring, this sleeping in beds or near beds or whatever with kids will never ever go away, it ruins some of his music for me and i truly do love so much of his music. after “bad” he became very creepy and that wont go away. and i would trust him with my kid just as much as i would trust my priest [NOT AT ALL] that wont stop me from playing “off the wall” to death.
the congressmen is expressing what all people in power feel about jackson “all that kings covet was his”
this country is acting like they have lost an actual monarch and i betcha the queen [that buttwipe] is a little jealous too, her “groom of the stool”(look it up and laugh your head off) will have to re-ass-sure her that she is still on the throne

….answer the door neo

I am so glad someone finally had the balls to say something. He was a freak that I would not let my child near. He was a loser and the children of the world are better for his death. Gotta a joke- What was Farrah’s last request before she died? Take care of the children. Two hours later, MJ died. That about sums it up.

MJLove | 7/6/2009, 10:41 pm EST

King, you and the OTHER republicans who continue your SOUR GRAPES attitude should get a life! The man is dead, give him some dignity! You are just bitter over having the first black president, and realize that all your scandals are catching up with you (Palin, Sanford, Vitter, Ensign,Craig). If you don’t like America move to an island far, far, away and leave us all alone.

virtuousDoctorjohn | 7/6/2009, 10:45 pm EST

Hi Pete King,
You have lost the next election for insulting MJ. All the lovers of MJ will turn out to vote for your opponent in the next election. MJ is more popular than all American Presidents put together. Because you have insulted the real King (not you), your political caareer is finished. The court aquitted MJ of allegations of child molestation, therefore he is not.

Shawn | 7/6/2009, 10:55 pm EST

MJlove has it right. You need to leave here if you don’t like it. You say the media should stay tuned into what’s happening in the world? WE HAVE BEEN FOR 9 YEARS! You’re a disgrace and you committed career suicide. You were asked to debate on CNN against Rev. Al Sharpton and you turned it down and gave some excuses like you actually kinda have respect…what a load of shit. You know Sharpton would have torn you down and you damn well deserve to be! One commenter on here, “simple”, said it best. You, sir, are an asshole. And that’s saying it nicely. You can fuck yourself. And like someone else said as well…Obama likes him! So screw you. Why don’t you a Palin ride on out of here on the moose she came in on!

tazmania | 7/6/2009, 10:56 pm EST

I would like to know if the congresman has the same feelings for fellow congressman who have been accused of misconduct with male pages and female pages. I hope he feels better since he had the opportunity to slander someone who is not here to defend himself.By the way Mr. congressmen if you are so tired of the media coverage on Mr. Jackson turn off your televison or any other sources of media you indulge in.Stop slandering the dead and do the job your constituents elected you to do. I don’t think you were hired to be judge and jury for MJ

Joel | 7/6/2009, 11:03 pm EST

First of all, for all you bringing up MJ’s acquittal, it’s like OJ – he got away with it, but everyone knows he did it. A good lawyer does not make one innocent; it just gets you acquitted. Anyone who things he wasn’t a pedophile is naive and doesn’t want to believe such a talented musician could behave in such a way. The fact is, Rep. King is crude, but he’s pretty much right. Just because he’s passed doesn’t mean we have to pretend he was a saint.

truth | 7/6/2009, 11:08 pm EST

I find it so ironic that there are so many willing to judge this man. Where is the moral outrage for the parents who allowed their children to spend time with a adult male who had no blood relation to their child or children. Where is the moral outrage for parents who could be viewed as pimps, prostuting their children.

MJ didn’t have some talent. MJ blows away any proformer that ever lived. When I say this I mean a any person to write and sing music while dancing. Who else comes close james brown maybe. MJ was bigtime. He did have many issues which made him so interesting. You really have no business saying he did these things. I was never found guilty. And if he did do these thing he is very sick and it sad. Either way sick man or innocent the media ruined him. Now let the media remember him and shut up. PLEASE this is America

pete the dog | 7/6/2009, 11:17 pm EST

Im not American and nor ever want to be after seeing this video. Firstly, innocent until proven guilty, isn’t that what you believe in? You talk about how we should be celebrating and congrtulating those in Iraq. Why are you even in their country? Why why why? All you’ve done over there in Iraq is kill innocent people as well as the many many brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for what cause? North Korea have started to launch missiles, thank God Almighty you got rid of Bush otherwise more money and man power to Korea. Give Michael Jackson a break, he’s passed on and he was loved by the world…not just your arrogant, obnoxious country. THE WORLD which is bigger and better than you will ever be in your life (whats left of it anyway, judging by your video not long at all) It’s 2009 wake up and smell the coffee, let the young take over and show you old farts what real potential is…WINGE WINGE FUCKING WINGE thats all you bastards do. I liked a few of Micheal’s songs but wouldn’t consider myself a crazed fan, but what angers me is the way the dead is disrespected. Unacceptable. Get a life! By the way what is a congressman and are these people really suited to give advice on anything? Aren’t all politicians scum?

Java Jive Jay@Surf City Sounds | 7/6/2009, 11:22 pm EST

The Jackson family has a lot on their plate right now. Will they sue? I’m no lawyer, but I’m curious and ask: Is there some provision in the law where an estate can sue for slander on behalf of the decedent? Is there a theory or law that can be applied otherwise? It’ll be interesting to see if Rep. King’s remarks backfire on him in some fashion. The courts have already spoken. That Rep. King doesn’t respect and honor their decisions tells me he has forgotten basic American civics. I think his use of those in the military to prop up his personal opinion particularly offensive and contemptable

Rell | 7/6/2009, 11:22 pm EST

Oh, pardon me…I forgot that Congressman Peters was good friends with Michael and knows “everything” that went on in his personal life and was in the room when he (Michael) “allegedly” assaulted a kid or kids…..Congressman…please tell us what you actually witnessed…..YOU JERK!

coachmaddog | 7/6/2009, 11:23 pm EST

Liz | 7/6/2009, 11:37 pm EST

Hear! Hear!

This is a ridiculous display of human worship. MJ is just a person. He was also a freak and quite talented. BUt at the end of the day, he was JUST A PERSON.

This Congressman should have just shut up, yet he was just a person and possibly quite the freak and possible a pedophile. He was beyond freakish. I feel sorry for Michael b/c I feel he was tortured as a child. He didn’t just wake up one day as a freak. He was breed a freak.

Teresa | 7/6/2009, 11:38 pm EST

It is embarrassing that a congressman would make such comments without FACTS to substantiate what he is saying. What EXACTLY does he think about the US justice system? He has definitely sealed his political fate. He must’ve needed some media attention and used this rant to get it! It would be great if everyone would speak of the things that they KNOW to be true and leave the gossip alone. Pathetic! All of this negativity is ignorant and embarrassing. This congressman is an idiot and I am POSITIVE that he is sorry that he made those comments!

ProvenGuilty | 7/6/2009, 11:43 pm EST

To all those who say he is guilty …. If your son was molested,How much money would you settle for?

vs.

If you had the money to settle, would you instead take the chance to go to prison just to Prove you are innocent? Would you …. Really?

Thought America was a country where you were innocent until Proven Guilty. ROFL, And this is a congressman… Good Luck America!

MJFAN | 7/7/2009, 12:00 am EST

This congress man is the same man who was accused of supporting irish terrorists in the past. You would think he would know what accusations meant. Second, he is using the amrican soldiers as a way to get my attention and how he feels we should focus on them but not michael. That is an honourable thing to say, but that is only if he is sincere about it. Why didnt he think about them when send them to IRAQ? ALl i can say about this low life is just go and eat more potatoes.

mark | 7/7/2009, 12:24 am EST

i like what LaFlare & Debbie said about he had no childhood & wanted to give a childhood to children. too if the ppl who r talkin shyt would think, MJ gave so much in charities that he could have funded 4 a family member’s college or surgery…

Whoosh | 7/7/2009, 1:15 am EST

@surforia:

Yeah, clearly it’s not your area of expertise. Even if you don’t specialize in libel suits, as a lawyer, you should the know the basics. I highly doubt you are an attorney, as you claim. Cause if you are, then I suggest that you re-take the bar. There’s a difference between stating your opinion publicly and downright slander. How do you think celebrities can successfully sue tabloids that publish false rumors as fact? What Congressman King said was slander, because Michael was acquitted of ALL charges, and therefore those accusations he’s flinging against him are FALSE. Even when he admitted that MJ was never found guilty, he said he’s guilty anyway because he paid the accuser’s family $20 million. I don’t know about you, but if anyone so much as layed a hand on my kid, no amount of money in the world would stop me from making sure that their ass ends up in jail FOR GOOD. Not just for my kid’s sake, but for the sake of every kid out there. To me, THAT makes the accusations even less credible, the fact that money made them shut up. So King’s assertion that Michael paying them to go away is an automatic admission of guilt is straight up WRONG. And the fact that he insists that Michael was guilty of a crime he was proven NOT to have committed gives the Jackson family plenty of leeway to sue the hell out of Congressman King. He presented his words as facts, not merely opinions. Prime candidate for a slander lawsuit. I know they’re grieving right now and they don’t really care about this, but if it were me, I’d make that politician eat his words. Make him regret opening his mouth in the first place.

Congressman correct? | 7/7/2009, 1:32 am EST

I cannot say that I agree with how the congressman made these remarks but the sentiment he holds is not so outlandish. I am disappointed by “by blind loyalty” from those who responded here and the disgraceful way the media is covering Jackson’s death. Let’s not forget that the LA DA’s office received more than one complaint of potential child molestation and hence Jackson was arrested and significant evidence was secured. I wish the blind loyalists would look at the evidence, including Jackson’s own admission that he liked to share his bed with young children (his own words). Are you people all whacked? Celebrity came against the accusers who had little reources and no “dream team”. Jackson also invited himself over to these boy’s houses for sleep overs as evidencec in the trial. Nothing abnormal, right? As in most molestation cases there was a grooming process(this at the time covered by national media). There are several cases of allegations and the last case illustrated how the youngsters were to provide chracter names for genital parts with Jackson. Sure it is unpopular to go against the national media and celebrity Hollywood–so much for the moral fiber of America. Unfortunately these young victims (survivors) must know see Jackson raised as the second coming of Christ. He was no Elvis or the Beatles. His life was on a path of self-destruction–celebrity never gives you the right to take advantage of others and then proclaim you love children. I too enjoyed Jackson’s music but know where to draw the line. Wake up blind loyalists-Yes our heroes are those fighting on the front lines and those who fought before them. How we take so much for granted. Perhaps King could have expresed his comments in a different manner but I do share his frustration.

Congressman correct? | 7/7/2009, 1:38 am EST

Not worth the coverage. How many parents want their children to emulate Michael Jackson? Using illicit substances, misconduct, and self-absorbed. I think we know the answer. Same on the national media. Provide us with news that matter. An no I am not going to faint like some of the crazy fans will.

Anonymous | 7/7/2009, 2:26 am EST

Is he the type of people who have been running our country? Wow, that’s why we are seen as the most ignorant people on earth by people from other countries. He can be upset about the media, but to call a great artist a low being just shows how much disrespect he has for people no in his league.
MJ, your suffering makes me truly see how ugly this world is. I feel speechless at times.

Karen | 7/7/2009, 3:06 am EST

This ass should be fired! Michael paid the ultimate price for fame…seclusion and loneliness. He truly wanted to make the earth a better place and he was taken advantage of by people who were looking to capatilize off of his wealth. There is NO parent on this earth that would take a settlement in place of seeing the individual who molested my child go to prison for the rest of his/her life. These parents were looking for a large check, not justice for their child. It makes me sick that there are people out there that actually believe that Michael would do something to hurt a child…ignorant idiots! Let Michael rest in peace and leave his family alone. I’m sickened at the media circus this whole thing has become. He was a beautiful man, son, father, brother, uncle and friend who not only had talent but also cared about people…even though they backstabbed him throughout his life. It’s no wonder that he felt so lonely and couldn’t trust anyone. Including his ex-wife rowe…what an opportunist!

I almost feel sorry for the lying sack of shit. You would think a politician would have the sense not to defame someone acquitted by the courts of his own country. He’s a nobody trying to ride the coattails of a superstar, just to get his 15 minutes of fame. No one knew who he was before, and now a lot of grieving fans know his face and the hateful BS it spewed. He better like sleeping with his eyes open & looking over his shoulder.

what are all of you talking about….he is right…atleast someone isnt scared to say it…have you watched the videos of michael jackson???? he acts like a pedophile and please children, he is a genius at gettin into lil kids heads…he probably molested 100 children in his life… he turned himself white…he was a freak…our nation is morning a freak…we didnt morn jeffery dahmer…why are we morning this guy

Good Lord on a MINI Bike. | 7/7/2009, 4:42 am EST

Get a grip people. He (MJ) was a misfit. Pete King deserves a medal for having the guts to speak out.
forget the kids she admitted sleeping with. Sex or Not, was one hell of a poor judgement, and MJ made a bunch of them.
His surgeries to look white. his demented music, his last program they keep showing over and over as his last rehearsal is a demented and preverted take off of a NAZI goosestep march where Jackson appears to be in an epileptic sesure.

Good Lord on a MINI Bike. | 7/7/2009, 4:46 am EST

MJ was scary, and perverted, and he was a drug addict. Talent is questionable. At one time yes he was talented, but if the rehearsal for he upcoming show is any indication of his talent at the time of his death, his final exit was overdue.
The rehearsal is a poor and sick rendition of a NAZI goose step.
Poor Bugger. Michael Jackson can now fight Truman Capote in hell for the missing glove.

Anyone But King | 7/7/2009, 4:55 am EST

While I agree 100% that the press coverage of Jackson’s death has been excessive, every other pathetic remark he said is perfectly in line with a man I’m ashamed to say was the congressman in my district for a decade until I moved. Anyone on here who said something along the lines of “I love this man”, “bravo Mr. King” or called him “courageous” or “my hero” needs to understand that this is also a man who supports the ethnic profiling of South Asian and Middle Eastern people at airports, said “there’s too many mosques in this country”, and also is fervently opposed to immigration, stem cell research and closing Gitmo but is pro Iraq War (since the beginning), Patriot Act and torture. So it’s no surprise to hear this coming from a man I’ve come to know as a bigoted, disgusting, piece of trash human being long before these comments.

And on that note, I’d like to hear his thoughts on the past sexual escapades of Mark Foley, Larry Craig, David Vitter, Mark Sanford, John Ensign, or as they’re also known, his Republican colleagues.

Bambang | 7/7/2009, 5:28 am EST

Americans are funny, and certainly not the brightest people on earth. To elect this low life creature as their representative proves that I’m not talking bollocks.

MIKE | 7/7/2009, 6:20 am EST

MJ: a talented pedophile who paid hush money to a boy’s family so he wouldn’t go to prison. If one is innocent then you don’t pay hush money, right?

Nijika | 7/7/2009, 6:40 am EST

This guy is a prick and rambling on about Afghanistan.. youre so proud to send people to die in an oil war Mr. Congress asshole. You wouldnt let your grand son in a room with Michael Jackson, well would you send them off to Afghanistan to die like you expect so many Americans to do to keep your pockets lined?

Carnal | 7/7/2009, 7:35 am EST

michael jackson was acquitted of child molestation charges after paying off the families of those children involved. as many judges are fond of saying, where there is smoke there is usually fire and michael jacksons actions and behavior contained alot of inconsistencies which also brings up another saying that if something doesnt make sense then it isnt true.
those of us who are still have their strong morals about them will always far outnumber those who hate for the sake of hating and will defend their opinions be them outspoken or just thought of.
it is not our fault that michael jackson commited career suicide by finding sexual solace in the bodies of children. it infuriates genuinely good people that after all of his hard work from childhood to that point had just been thrown away so callously because of his indiscretions. sure, politicians, doctors and other people of high standing have done these same things but that does not make any of them right and those who seek to defend the actions of these pedophiles are only helping to enable them and are only deluding themselves. have we become a nation so starved to worship anything that goes against our moral fiber that we’re willing to even toss our own value system out the window to do it?

Scary times in the world indeed.

Glenn | 7/7/2009, 8:20 am EST

1. The dead have no right to sue for slander/libel…no one is harmed that can make a claim, because the “victim” of the slander or libel in question is DEAD.
2. The guy you are all vilifying for his outspoken position on Jackson is being vilified because of his status as a Republican, not for what he said. Take your heads out of your arses. As for all non-americans commenting about this and about the American political system and government, you’re WELCOME for your freedom from the Nazis, the Japanese Empire of WWII, the Soviet Union, Italian Fascists, The Khmer Rouge and all the other pickles the United States has gotten you out of, because you couldn’t do it without our help.
3. Michael Jackson danced and sang (well, I agree).
4. There is question about whether his “charitable contributions” ever made it to the people it was supposed to help.
5. YES, rich people fight accusations like this all the time, despite having the money to buy their way out of it.
6. There is no way the Jackson family should raise his kids…look what they did to Michael, LaToya, Janet, Jermaine, Tito and Harpo.
7. They didn’t even offer to ante up for the costs to support the memorial for Molester Jackson.
8. Ever wonder why Macauley Culkin is so screwed up and doesn’t hang out with MJ? Hmmmmm.
9. I’d like to believe nothing eve happened, but the facts point elsewhere.
10. Stop equating him to the black Jesus just because he died. Be honest. If he were alive, would you leave your children in his care for more than an hour alone?

Dan | 7/7/2009, 8:32 am EST

I’ve heard that the subject of MJ’s first accusation, Jordan Chandler now wants to use some of his settlement money to set up a pro-Israeli charity. Is this true?

Ruth | 7/7/2009, 8:40 am EST

King is a pro-Iraq and pro-Afghanistan war right winger who has historically shown bigoted views to people of a darker skin complexion or difference religion to his – see comments below about his views towards South Asians and Mosques. I’m not surprised by his comments about a black man.

Grace | 7/7/2009, 8:47 am EST

A Note to Congressman Peter King,

I read your remarks regarding the media coverage on Michael Jackson’s death, as well as your criticisms of his character.

I am only 28 years old, and I have seen this country (and the world) evolve into a media circus, where people are famous for just being famous and it is outrageous. That said, Michal Jackson is NOT one of those people. He worked from the bottom up, and will remain one of the greatest entertainers of all-time, a true icon, a true legend. His music and dancing made people around the world want to learn how to sing and dance, and he has inspired many of the artists we see and hear today.
Is there a lot of coverage? Yes there is…but rightly so. If it wasn’t covering his story, then we would be hearing about Jon & Kate Plus Eight or Twilight cast gossip. He deserves the spotlight right now. There are people overseas dying for our country, and I realize this. However, as an American citizen who stays fairly up to date with current affairs, I feel we are often not privy to the what is going on overseas. We do not celebrate the lives of the soldiers who have died for us over there the way we should be. I partially blame the Bush Administration for this. Casualties of War is not what his Administration wanted to show, but you cannot blame the media for not being able to show what they do not know. And you certainly cannot blame Michael Jackson for this either.

Michael Jackson DOES deserve the attention and the praise he getting now. Your comment that he did some singing and dancing is a gross understatment. He is our Elvis, our John Lennon, let us celebrate his accomplishments! In the event you did not know what he accomplished during his 42 years in the industry, I have included a list of (some) his many achievements for you to review.
- Biggest Selling Album of All Time with Thriller
- His “The Making Of Thriller” is the best selling video ever sold by an artist
- Most Number 1 Hits in the 1980’s
- Most Number 1 Hits by a Male Artist on the Billboard “Hot 100″ Singles Chart
- First person in the history of the Billboard Chart to enter straight in at Number 1 with “You Are Not Alone”
- Has sold over 100 million singles inside and outside of the U.S.
- Biggest tour in History with the Bad Tour, which ran from 9/1987 to 12/1988
- Greatest Superbowl Audience during a half-time show

In my opinion, your remarks on him being a “low-life” and “pervert” were uncalled for. You further went on to say “Let’s knock out the psychobabble. He was a pervert, a child molester; he was a pedophile.” What absurd statement to make as an elected official! Aren’t you a Congressman? Don’t you believe in our justice system? This is the criminal justice system that never found him guilty of a single crime. You let some allegations, which he was never convicted of, overshadow his genius which is just plain shameful.

Outside of the arena of music his contribution to society at large has greatly impacted both those inside and outside of the United States. Have you forgotten about Ryan White, the posterboy for HIV. Michael Jackson was one of the first celebrities to step forward and raise awareness for Ryan White’s case. He has supported various charities and causes around the world (note the strip/arm band he wore as a reminder to us all of the starving children in this world), and co-wrote “We Are The World” with Lionel Richie for U.S.A. for Africa (or “United Support of Artists for Africa”). Revenues made from this song raised approximately $63 million for famine relief in Africa. Michael Jackson also contributed to setting up the Heal The World Foundation. For your reference I have listed the charities he individually supported throughout his life in addition to the Heal The World Foundation.
AIDS Project L.A.

Angel Food
Big Brothers of Greater Los Angeles
BMI Foundation, Inc.

The bottom line…Michael Jackson is one of the biggest stars the world has ever seen, if not the biggest. And yes, I would let my child or grandchild be in the same room with Michael Jackson. I would have been honored.
Please have some respect for Michael Jackson, his children, his family, and the fans around the world who are both grieving and celebrating the life of this fantastic man.

Sincerely,
A fan of music, humanity, and dignity (and of course a devote Michael Jackson fan…may he rest in peace)

natalie | 7/7/2009, 8:53 am EST

so ive been readinq some of the comments posted here and i must say i am impressed with many people who believe the same as i do that michael jackson was one the most amazing performers and one amazing person. On the other hand of course theres negative stupid comments that anger me. First of all this congressman gets no respect for saying the things he did i dont even wanna get into how ignorant this man is so anyways.. Michael Jackson had a troubled childhood and never really had a childhood to be beqin with. He wanted to fill that void by seeing children experience what he always wanted (to play and enjoy life). If you watch the oprah interview from 93′ you get to see how amazing of a person himself was, aside the amazing performer. It broke my heart to see how awful people betrayed him he was so sweet and so damn humble. It made me a little sad because he seem so sad . And as for the child molestion cases .. look it up and research it you’ll find what lies and what these kids and parents did for money. Im not trying to make him look like a saint just cause he died. Im calling it like it is. People like this congressman who make remarks like this wants others to see how they look at the world disgusting and awful instead of actually trying to understand what happened and that believe it or not there are good people even if they dont exactly live or do things up to your standards. As for the plastic surgeries yeh it was a bit weird but did u know how much he hated his appearance because all the negative remarks mainly from this dad growing up. Laughing at him and calling him ugly. You hear something long enough you believe. He wasnt happy with himself which was sad if only he saw what most of us saw. Some say he had dysmorphia. Instead of seeing that he going through something, ya just wanna sit there and say hes a freak blah blah. People are people we all have our issues but that doesnt make us less of a person… sorry for sounding so emotionally invested but it just gets me mad ..

Katina | 7/7/2009, 9:24 am EST

Pete King better hope he have this many people at his Memorial, but he won’t I predict 300 and that’s been generous. To the people who are saying Michael Jackson was a “child molester” you don’t know only God knows people are so quick to judge on the bases of ” he say” because he paid them the money didn’t necessary mean he was guilty how dare you judge anyone as if your perfect. When that little boy and his family got the money from Micheal Jackson you never heard anything else from them. There are children out here who are been molesting and harmed and if the allegation was true or false we will never know because it was settle out of court they ( the family of the accuser) know. As far as King making a statement about paying €tribute to the veterans, soldiers and the wars those individuals are appreciated and loved by many Americans and truth be told the war were fighting now is not even suppose to be all I’m saying if Bin Laden attacked us ,how we end up in Iraq and taken out Saddam when he didn’t bomb the World Trade Centers because its all about the oil, think about it PEOPLE.

Brent | 7/7/2009, 9:41 am EST

People. People please …… Reading through some of these comments has really brought it home as to just how much Michael was tried in the media. You only need to dig into the court transcripts and really see just how stupid this whole case was. There really was no evidence …… The whole fucking state was after his blood. The media called him guilty before he walked in the court and managed to convince thousands of idiots who only read the headlines. So there was this large group of people out there that were so surprised when they said not guilty. Very funny to see their faces. Educate yourself on the subject then make your comments. King’s statements were in very poor taste and he will feel the pain. As for the coverage – Michael is the cornerstone of modern music as we know it – you may not have the sense to see that, but just ask the musicians of today that you do listen to and they will set you straight. Peace.

coachmaddog | 7/7/2009, 9:57 am EST

He is a pervert. Why did he pay $20 million? Because he was guilty.
He was no Elvis or Beatles.
He hated himself. He had so many plastic surgeries and dyed his skin, slept with other kids……
PERVERT.

terri54 | 7/7/2009, 10:14 am EST

Politicians…wonder if King realizes that most of the American people have low opinions of politicians…why…cause the media is our main source of information. The political news gets old…another politician caught with his hand in the cookie jar…another politician cheating on his wife….

I think most of America identifies with Michael in that…we care about each other. He expressed our feelings for us..We loved his music because it gave us the opportunity to sing along with him when he sang…I’ll Be There…It Doesnt Matter if You are Black or White….What Happened to My Childhood….We Are the World…and many many others. We loved his music and we loved him…we loved his excesses and we were happy to peek into his magical world known as Neverland.

Forgive us if we tire of the stupid political rederick….forgive us if we enjoy this break and remember someone who brought us only pleasure. We want to remember him forever and please, allow us to obsess over the loss…he is gone and we care.

An added note…I really thought the masks for his children thing was eccentric…now that the news has reported and published a picture of Michael’s face as he is dying….when I saw the media chase Debbie to her car, relentless and then reports her being offended by someone grabbing her…NOW I understand…we loved him but the media only care about the money they would get from mauling him and anyone else related to him.

God be with the kids, their mother, their grandmother, their nanny….help them to work together to give these kids the BEST CHANCE for a good christian life.

Long Island Sucks! | 7/7/2009, 10:32 am EST

Well this is PAR for the course for the people of this destitute wasteland known as Long Island. Why dont you idiots spend your time talking about how you will secede from NY instead of caring about a Memorial Service in LA.

Let the people mourn. asshole.

I will be watching and laughing as your shit island gets covered in water. Global Climate Change… it will put you where you belong.

Kelly | 7/7/2009, 10:38 am EST

Michael Jackson was an amazing musician and philanthropist. We will never really know if he did the things that he was accused of, but that is not for us to decide. Those accusations ruined his life, so think twice before you go accusing or judging someone. RIP, Michael.

AjsMacDonald | 7/7/2009, 10:42 am EST

You should be more responsible when speaking publicly or maybe you just don’t know better? How were you raised? Innocent until proven guilty is supposed to be the rock of American law and politics. You should be, by all rights, removed from your position and take something of remedial sensitivity training. You are an example of why Americans are the most hated hypocrites globally.

Blair | 7/7/2009, 11:03 am EST

NIJIKA:::
to say that hes rambling on about afghanistan?? do you have any idea how disrespectful that is to so many people in this country?! The fourth of July is a day to remember the good, independence of our country, not to praise a pervert, child molestor, freak. As a teenage girl whose father is deploying any day now to go fight for YOUR everyday life, i cannot fathom why you would think that is appropriate to say. My daddy risks his life everyday for lowlifes just like you! I could not respect this congressman more. He is one of the very few public figures brave enough to say what millions of americans think. I am extremely hurt that you would speak of our troops with such disrespect.

sam | 7/7/2009, 11:24 am EST

you people are incredible. He did sleep with children that weren’t his own. If a regular person did that, they would be in jail! And to that person making death threats to King, I’d be careful, you will go to jail.

B of the P | 7/7/2009, 11:37 am EST

I’m not saying he was guilty. But, if you were a Millionaire Child Molester wouldn’t you have an amusement park in YOUR back yard?

Luis the conservative | 7/7/2009, 11:42 am EST

enough of all this crap screw MJ and all of those who worship him he is no God let get real he just drop dead like the idiot he was using drugs and molesting children, the real heros are the men & women fighting to protect america, good people dye everyday that is part of life stop the bs and invest our efforts to make this country a better place to raise our children, forget about this jerk call MJ he was a no body just another clown with no talent, better musicians and singers are dead and when they dye no one made such a deal, lets move on and take care of the real inportant thing in life like education, the economy, protect our country, and these are just some of them, we are just wasting time with things like MJ. And i have to agree with the rep. from Long Island he is 100% on target and lets not talk about politics, see who is running the country!!!!!!!!

James | 7/7/2009, 11:59 am EST

God bless America. What a mess.

Bronwyn | 7/7/2009, 12:04 pm EST

Peter King worships at my friend’s synagogue in Long Island. I have heard some worrying stories about his views towards people of other races.

Devastatin1 | 7/7/2009, 12:17 pm EST

I’m 26 years still active duty U.S. Armed Forces. Still fighting for my country. I don’t need this disrepectful ignoramous speaking for me. I’ve not heard any of my troops criticizing the MJ coverage, and as a matter of fact it’s given us something different to entertain us. As far as the slandering and accusations, the very judicial system this idiot King should be supporting as a public servant is the same system that expounged MJ. Not only that, that kid Jordan Chandler has now admitted to lying to molestation charges that got him 20+ million. That super-lie is probably the reason for MJ’s demise and subsequent drug use as well as financial collapse.

Rep King, please don’t speak for the U.S. Armed Forces. You have embarassed ALL of us that serve our nation with your idiotic badly-timed disrespectful tirade of the greatest, most talented musical artist ever to exist. Naysayers can google this fact and the numbers don’t lie. Like him of not, he was the best. Check Guiness’ Book of World Records.

At least respect the family during their time of mourning. A mother shouldn’t have to hear such slander about her dead son.

Rep King is a real class act!

Rest in Peace Michael! The U.S. Armed Forces and the WORLD will never forget you! Hopefully, neither will the voters during Rep Peter King’s next election run…

ltc | 7/7/2009, 12:20 pm EST

reading some of this commets makes one thing very clear that we have a lot of low class people in america

JP | 7/7/2009, 12:35 pm EST

I have one question for the people who constantly state that Michael Jackson is innocent of child molestation, because he was never convicted: Would you leave your child/children under Michael Jackson’s supervision for a weekend?

I wouldn’t. Why? Even though he was never convicted. He was charged repeatedly for the crime. Also, some of the more disturbing facts of what he did with the children under his supervision was never disputed. For example, sleeping with the children in the same bed.

So, do you honestly have that much conviction to put your children where your mouth is? Since, Michael Jackson is dead. I’m sure there are other accused pedophiles around that were found not guilty to test out how secure you are about people who are innocent until proven guilty.

Devastatin1 | 7/7/2009, 12:45 pm EST

BTW Rep King, we Armed forces members don’t need or desire “media coverage!” Our gratification comes from facilitating your election process without the threat of cultural or religious zealots raining on your parade or that of the millions of MJ fans that will be congregating at various venues making prime targets for terrorists. Having these events initiate and conclude unabated means we’ve done our job. Nothing is more gratifying than that! That’s what we do!

God Bless MJ and his family during their period of mourning…

What has this world come to? | 7/7/2009, 12:52 pm EST

Everyone has so much to say about MJ. He was and always will be the best. As far as this mayor you are a pure jerk. My opinion is if a person molested my son I am not going to settle for money. He is going to jail. These parents were just money hungary. They tried to get over on MJ because yes he was a kid at heart, he did not have a childhood. He did not do this.

Frankie | 7/7/2009, 12:56 pm EST

Like many of the commentors, I agree that Peter King’s comments were totally out of line. Although Michael Jackson may not have lived his life “normally” as most people would like to describe, to me he will always be known, not only for his talent, but for the love he had for people.

In the 24 years that I have lived, I have not known of an artist who was so talented, so giving, and whose music touched and spoke to everyone around the world in a positive manner. A manner that made you feel good. The only thing Michael was guilty of, was having a big heart. It’s sad to know that people are continuously making such ill remarks about a man they do not even know; a man who has passed. Have we forgotten that there are 3 children who have lost their father? I’m sure Mr. King himself has children and would be in disgust if they were exposed to the negative remarks the media would have to say about him. Let’s not forget about his past “questionable” remarks he has made about muslims. For someone to claim that he represents the American people, he sure is a poor representation of that! He has no class and I hope his remarks will backfire!

Despite what others may think, Michael Jackson will forever be known as the “King of Pop” and an iconic figure in American History. May his music live on forver and may he rest in peace. We love you Michael!

JD | 7/7/2009, 1:03 pm EST

I think this moron is a racist. And if you look up Hypocrite in the dictionary, you’ll see his picture. I think it’s ironic that he shares his last name with Martin Luther King, a renowned black activist.

Deseree | 7/7/2009, 1:07 pm EST

Did somebody write “rest in peace mj”? Wow! Amazing. This free speech. This was an ugly person, inside and out. In reference to a comment: let his family have their day? Well, if he did indeed hurt children, I can care less if he rests in peace, as survivor, I say, “how about the children and adults who have lived through this, do they get a life of peace or even a day? He will be judged now.

Anonymous | 7/7/2009, 1:13 pm EST

Who are you to judge? You probably have skeletons in your closet. This man has children and you are making those statements. Do you have no regard for them or his parents? What if you were called and accused falsely of something? Bet you are not PURE.

SEA BISCUIT in the 7TH | 7/7/2009, 1:16 pm EST

If it was any other person, we would be seeking the death penalty. God has away of doing that for us.
Sorry but MJ was good until he started sharing his bed little boys then he became evil. I don’t care how sick he was. Most people would love to have that kind of money to cure themselves but he chose to hide behind his fortune and innocent fans.

The reason why the media covered this tragic event is because so many in the US and around the world enjoyed MJ’s music and talent. From the West Bank to Tokyo to India and South Africa when Americans and the US were looked down upon, people around the world clamored, cried and fainted when in the presence of this man. Men and women in the Armed Forced were stunned and moved when he visited hospitals. Please don’t discount the impact this individual has made on so many in this country and around the world.

Disagree with the coverage but please don’t down play him or speak ill of the dead.

But this dude doesn’t know. Hell, HE might be a perverted child molester.

Stephanie Rolfe | 7/7/2009, 5:00 pm EST

How I KNOW Michael was not a pedophile;
I was subjected to pedophiles my entire childhood, I know them well. One thing they never, ever do is say what Michael Jackson said about sharing his bed with boys. They are an very secretive bunch and they would never expose themselves like that.
I wasn’t smart to say what he said, but he’s no pedophile. He loved children more than anything. I will miss him.

Mrs. G | 7/7/2009, 5:13 pm EST

For everyone that has something negative to say about Michael Jackson this is for you: I think you guys are just jealous that you all aren’t getting this attention. You all want to focus on the negative parts of his life but lets remember he is in the Guiness Book Of Rrcords for the most charitable person, so he couldnt have been that much of a bad person…and if someone did molest one of my children it’s no way in hell I would settle for money.. money will not give your child their innocence back but putting a person in jail would give some type of relief knowing he couldn’t molest another child but seeing his parents were only accusing him for the money I think they should be arrested. And King your just stupid, get a life!!!!!!!!!! Asshole

Vandalize his Wikipedia page | 7/7/2009, 5:24 pm EST

Sharon from Seattle | 7/7/2009, 5:31 pm EST

I was wondering how any person could make such stupid comments until I realized he was a Republican. Another idiot about the same caliber as Sarah Palin. Michael was the greatest performer this world has ever or will ever see. It’s sad someone can accuse a person in such a time of need for his family. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are not a person I think belongs in this world.

DL from Massachusetts | 7/7/2009, 5:55 pm EST

The Congressman from New York is Right. I am sick of Michael Jackson. I am sick of the media covering this event. The City of Los Angeles is paying for this whole thing and the Jackson’s have more money then Los Angeles does. Congressman Peter T. King has got my vote if he ever runs for President. The idiots are the one morning Michael Jackson. Why aren’t we morning those people who gave more for humanity then Michael Jackson ever did. Let us morn the ones who gave there lives fighting for freedom. Let morn those women and men who died in the line of duty as a firefighter and police officer. They are the ones who protect us from the people like Michael Jackson. Let’s face it; Michael Jackson paid his why out of going to prison. Let us also face the fact that Michael Jackson obstructed justice by paying off witnesses so they will not testify. I feel bad for his family, I feel bad for his children, and I feel bad that he did died, but enough is enough. Other people have died and got little recognition. I am not jealous of Michael Jackson; there is not a thing to be jealous of. I admire Congressman Peter T. King for having the “guts” to speak freely. Yes he is a Republican, so what; at least he is willing to tell the “Truth”. Living in Massachusetts we are surrounded by lies from the Liberal Democratic (Kennedy and Kerry). I can say this for Peter T. King; he never left a young girl to die in a car like Kennedy did.

I must say one thing, all you people who think Micheal Jackson is capable of hurting a child are the ones who truly need help not Micheal. He was pure and would never hurt a child. Its people like you and the congressman that think that way and who are the real perverts. I wish there were more people in this world who were like Micheal Jackson, the world would be a better place. He was loving, giving and donated immense amounts of money to charities… what have you done??? other than buy YOURSELF STUFF and drive your fancy cars. Before you judge someone know the whole story and don’t just listen to the awful media because its horrible stories like this that sell not the trulth unfortuantely. As a mother i would leave my children with Micheal and not one second have doubts as to wheather he would hurt my children. He was a legend and deserves all the attention he is getting. As a mother, no amount, NO amount of money would ever be enough to let the man that touched my child go free to molest more children. The woman that took him to court was just a money hungry, embezzling scam artist WITH A RECORD TO PROVE IT, she had losts of scams in her past for money. Not to mention, Michael stuck out the next claim and was ACQUITTED.
I don’t believe for a second he would do these things and if he did, he’d probably put his hands on his owns sons, which we all will know in the future that he did not do that, which would be odd for such a boy hungry man like you all claim. He’s innocent and you he was proven so.

Now that you had your few minutes in the spot light can you get back to policing those criminals on Wall Street and the other rich criminals and some of your colleagues that have turned our economy upside down. Michael Jackson was never convicted (i.e. not proven guilty) I’m sure the victims of Madoff are wondering what are you doing to get their money back.Don’t be jealous politicians are not rock stars Palin has proved that among others. His work made an impact around the world the international media is also covering this tragic event so get over yourself.Yes Michael Jackson was odd but he also generated a lot of revenue in life and death.I am sure everyone in Peter’s family is not perfect and I am sure Peter himself is not perfet.I am sure people thought they knew the Governors of Texas and South Carolina.I know the music and work that he produced.I/we will never know the true person when it comes to people in the industry (movies and music) as well as atheletes and politicians.

Firebase | 7/7/2009, 8:22 pm EST

Michael Jackson is one of the best. The excitement he brought to this world is priceless! We will never know what changed him but he broke the music industry when it was ruled by whites. I suspect he fall in love with a white girl and got discriminated by his color. Also he find solace hanging out with children than adults who only have vested interest to suck his money. Rest in peace MJ. You did OK!

Donna | 7/7/2009, 8:42 pm EST

People who get turned on by children usually get on with them very very well and appear to be very caring, which he did. Genuine child carers think about the childs welfare and needs. Why did he invite so many of them to sleep in his bedroom/bed. Was this satisfying his own needs or theirs? Quite honestly, I would have thought that a child would take one look at his face and run away in fright. In my opinion he thought that being a celebrity and wealthy he could do whatever he pleased. Yes I loved some of his music but I am not blind and I look at things how they are and don,t put someone on a pedestal and idolize them

MAK | 7/7/2009, 9:32 pm EST

MY grandfather was very child-like. He constantly loved to play games and pranks. His favorite movie was Home Alone and others like it. He too got along better with children than adults. He also, played “boobie check-up” time with us and gave us a dollar. And I was never molested or my sister! Coincidentally he also stated working at 9 years old. An eternal spirit is not only beautiful, but eternal for some people.

MAK | 7/7/2009, 9:34 pm EST

Oh and by the way Peter King, be a man of the law and respect “innocent until proven guilty”. I live and work in Nassau county, how unfortunate to have this man in my county.

yall arent thinkin str8!! why cant people make sense?? would ANY OF YOU TAKE MONEY FROM A MAN THAT SUPPOSIBLY MOLESTED YOUR SON INSTEAD OF SEEING HIM ROT BEHIND BARS??? i know i wouldnt, so they were MOST LIKELY after money. as for if he actually did molest children, nobody knows – so shut up about it unless you were in the room while he molested them. And you can show signs of being high & actually have the flu, so whoever made the remark about MJ seeming like a child molester on those videos needs to not post unless he is sure of what he is saying.

Your Talk Is Cheap
You’re Not A Man
You’re Throwin’ Stones
To Hide Your Hands

N/A | 7/7/2009, 10:06 pm EST

This guy is a pig, the law clearly states that you are innocent until proven guilty. Michael Jackson was found not guilty, did you ever stop to think that some people might take advantage of others to gain something for themselves. I understand fredom of speech but you just put yourself on camera knocking a guy that the world adored just to get some publicity. Here’s a question for you, what skeletons are you hiding in your closet, be it porn, wearing womens underwear, what is it? This man died and brought the world together not only in life but in death. HawgHead of Omaha | 7/7/2009, 10:49 pm EST

Peter King gives me pride that at least one public official hasnt lost his mind and giving into to this media worship of creepy pedophile. Inocent till proven guilty my ass. Creepy fuck already made many statements and did many deeds that shows he is a predator of children. If I had the money he did I would have never paid off those parents who pimped out their kids to him If I was innocent. Put the man ashamed of his race in the ground already. He’s starting to stink leaving him in the heat.

I realize that this can be an emotional time for a lot of people but we should all remember that the dead cannot defend themselves and that the children of the dead should not have to deal with other peoples inconsiderate comments. Let it go and let Michael Jacksons family have some peace.

Lou from Queens, NYC, USA | 7/8/2009, 12:02 am EST

What a great country America is, where everybody’s dream can come true. Where else could a poor black boy turn himself into a rich white woman?
The debauched mass media circus is nearly over. The next show will be the Congressional Black Caucus coronation of Michael as the world’s greatest humanist.

jenny k. | 7/8/2009, 4:53 am EST

You do not pay people off when you are innocent. I would defend myself till I was blue in the face not sit there and pay the kid off with millions of dollars then talk about how amazing it is to sleep with children. This man had a screw loose. Even if the molestation charges were false you would have to be as nuts as him not to see how messed up he was. He changes his color of his skin and the shape of his entire face to look like a white person. He had white children. He only married white women. If anything he was racist against blacks. People are crazy for thinking he was such a great guy.

sick of it all | 7/8/2009, 5:05 am EST

The worst thing to come out of all this is al sharpton running around trying to make this into some racist crap. Of all the black stars out there jackson was one of the most racially non judged black artists out there. White people never cared that he was black and sharpton is tainting this status by trying to bring attention to himself and turning this into some kind of racism. Sharpton is just an attention seeking wh..e.

Bravo Congressman. Signed,
An veteran of Iraq who is tired of all this hype. 6 famous people died in one week and all anyone cares about is Michael Jackson? Does anyone even know that we pulled out troops out of the cities in Iraq, or that violence is getting worse? Does anyone know the name of a single SOLDIER that died the same week as Michael Jackson? Does anyone even care what we Soldiers and our families go through? HELL NO. All they care about is a musician that was once accused of being a pedophile and making as much money and fame off of his death as possible. Let’s focus on things that might actually be important rather than the death of a has-been………

MAK | 7/8/2009, 9:23 am EST

I have heard a few people say Michael Jackson was guilty because he paid them off. Well, what parent in their right mind would accept a payout for such a horrible crime? Michael didn’t want to pay, his insurance made him. Let’s not forget, the accusers had the credibility of Ted Bundy. 12 plus millions found him innocent. The FACTS prove his innocence. Oh and HE HAD VITIGLIO PEOPLE! DO your research! Everybody has plastic surgery, BIG DEAL!

SeeJay | 7/8/2009, 9:46 am EST

There is no denying Michael Jackson’s talent. He was a great performer.

There is also no denying that he was a very troubled man. Molestation accusations aside, he admitted that he slept with children in his bed. This is not normal, and it is utterly inappropriate!

Can anyone really imagine sending their kids to Neverland to share a bed with Michael?

He did or he didn’t … the only people who really know are the ones that were involved, however, there is enough controversy surrounding his relationship with children that I cannot believe the US government would even consider officially honouring him!

Peter T. King Loser | 7/8/2009, 9:58 am EST

Poor Peter… no one is paying any attention to you? When your time comes I hope the the only send off you get is a dog urinating on your grave.. that is all you deserve. You cant be speaking about America best interest.. you cant speak about all the good that Michael Jackson did to make a difference because you didnt do it yourself. I know you must be sucking on sour grapes and I am glad that peace can come to America on the day of his memorial because that is what did happen. Rest in peace Michael… you reward will come..

Peter King has made some very irresponsible and disgusting comments. For a public figure he should know better. I’m sure he’s delighted about his media coverage. What a scumbag. He only wishes he had the talent MJ had and his influence on music and pop culture. Don’t re-elect this asshole please.

Yvonne | 7/8/2009, 2:34 pm EST

I read somewhere in here that we should lay off micheal jackson because of his troubled childhood. Many serial killers and other child molesters have also had very insane childhoods and just look at what happened to them. On the other hand, there are plenty of other people who have probably suffered much worse during their childhood years and have “chosen” (that being the operative word here) to lead their lives productively and without having to exert or mirror their anger and sickness onto other people who dont deserve it.

and as someone else said before – would you really leave your children in michael jacksons care totally unsupervised?

next thing youll have us all believe that other child molesters who can carry a tune or donates money to charities should be released from prisons everywhere. so please…..please do not try and push your twisted values onto normal people who actually care for the welfare of their children. Or does michael jacksons music outweigh the trauma he imposed on those children when he sexually molested them?

Julio | 7/8/2009, 3:17 pm EST

Peter King you are the most absurd ill mannered conceited obnoxious creature in this planet. You have no class no dignity and no sympathy. How can you represent New York let alone yourself ? How dare you speak with such hate and judgment ? You are extremely DISRESPECTFUL .. calling someone a pervert. i bet you yourself is a pervert how many times did you come Peter ? pleasuring your own, pervert !!!

Kim | 7/8/2009, 6:36 pm EST

MJ was amazingly generous and a humanitarian. He was no predator and not abusive. His love of children was simply that, love. I really think people so quick to jump on the “pedophile band wagon” need to examine their own suspicious and dirty minds. Can it really be that people cannot accept the concept of non-sexual love? That’s what’s really sad, and those folks are the ones I would hesitate to leave my children with. Caring and helping are not criminal. The inclination of people to jump to conclusions and their lynch-mob mentality is a pitiful reflection of humanity.

Kris | 7/8/2009, 8:01 pm EST

I think this kind of passive aggressive behavior shows the lengths of which supporters will go to protect the image of someone they once respected as a singer even knowing that somewhere in their hearts very well may have done this.
What does that say for our country? I dont know but i dont like it.

Think about it,why are we spending Billions of dollars outside USA for war when we can concertrate in our own country. Our soldiers are dieying everyday for what????? Our economy is in crisis and here our goverment is wasting the tax payers money in another country. quoting bible verses mean “jackshit” when it comes to childmolesters plain and simple. if michael pervert jackoff didnt want people to remember him as a pedophile then he should have kept his pale hands to himself and not use them to damage the lives of the children he molested. good for you mr king for speaking aloud the thoughts of many many people who know the same thing is true.

all this bullcrap about casting stones? hahaha gimme a break would you? you can apply that silly biblical arguement to just about anything to serve the situation and it still does not excuse it away. you people need to grow up and face reality. Rest in turmoil and may your eternity be filled with the same nightmares you gave those children.

Forget the court of law, judge, and jury, based on your ruthless statement. MJ guilty because YOU think so? Not! Watch his daughter’s statement at the memorial, and maybe you’ll have a change of heart. She probably said what she said because she got wind of your nasty statements! After hearing her, YOU ought to feel like a lowlife! R.I.P. Michael Jackson.

That’s a new low! who are we to judge, how do you personally know MJ was a child molester, Pervert, and whatever else you called him, did you guys sit down to dinner and he told you this! All you did was fall into the media trap, and now CNN has another thing to add to the MJ story, that being you talking smack! So CONGRATULATIONS! I think you are very disrespectful and its people like you that make the U.S. look bad! Do unto others as you have them do unto you!

Rep King: Thank you for expressing your opinion regarding the inordinate importance placed on the self-imposed death of a man who made poor decisions in his life- Michael Jackson. Regardless of how he was raised, as an adult he made decisions that led to this ugly tragedy. I have been so ashamed of the behaviour and comportment of so many that I have seen on TV, not the least of which were the TV personalities and reporters. I feel that the media attention given to this man was only a ruse to divert the American people from more important issues- like how American is going to survive our current crisis and thrive in the uncertain future. The media pandered to the lowest common denominator, which only served to bring us all down in the eyes of the world. Thank you for holding your head up and looking forward to the future.

DONT BELIVE WHAT THE NEWS SAYS .THE MEDIA IS AFTER ONE THING AS WELL.MONEY, RATINGS.YOU WILL NOT BE JUDGED WHEN YOU DIE BY WHAT YOU HAVE BUT RATHER BY HOW YOU TREATED PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE TIME. this guy wanted his 15min of fame and he got them by defaming a dead person,Mj did not do anything, there is a price for fame and fortune michale paid the ulitmate price. I do not belive he molested children and for this redneck to sit there and judge and spread lies shows me what kind of world we live in not only did he make these lies but he posted it on you tube. I am a survior of abuse no amount of money will make it better. I rather see my abuser in jail and offenders reoffend if this was really happening people would be coming forward and jordan chandler admitted to lying to get out of porverty he lives the high life living on mjs dime being chaffured like a prince. He was found innocent and for everyone who doubts that and says he got away with because he has money is wrong, He was adviced my his team that to pay up and move on So what that there is media coverage what is it to you pete, why spew hate and venom shouldnt you be working instead of talking to the media about mj, its people like you that makes me disgusted, let the man rest in peace I am sure you have a lot worse to hide in your closet your proably like thoes congressmen who are agianst gay marrige but yet are found sucking a guy off in a bathroom. your just a hateful, trying to get fame by talking shit about the dead and try as you might to block mj recongiton it will happen I hope some one outs you and slanders you even if you were found innocent

How dare you speak ill of the dead and how dare you slander someone who was found innocent and just because he paid someone off does not make him a guilty person, thoes parents did it for money they could of prosucted but didn because they knew there was a big payment so before you go spouting at the mouth read your facts instead going to the media to spew venom. Let him rest in peace I hope that when you pass someone shits and pisses on your grave and that your family is there to watch just like mj kids were made to listen to your hate and if he rally was a molester whould he have parental rights I think not you are an idiot that needs to go back to school and read up on the court of law

Unless the NY Rep. Peter King thinks the system works only when he wants, the system has found MJ NOT guilty, i,e, innocent.
What is Rep. Pete King thinking?
When is an individual considered innocent in Rep. Pete King’s world? Is he saying some people are guilty until proven guilty and also guilty after being acquitted ( found NOT guilty) ?
When does the system work? or it doesn’t work at all when it comes to certain selected groups?
Is he trying to be the judge and the jury?
God help New Yorkers from his judgment!

Irish cocksucker | 7/9/2009, 10:27 pm EST

Dont blame MJ for lack of coverage of war and casulites blame the bush administration for there lack of covering the war if we werent watching michael we would have to hear all this crap about john and kate plus 8 or some other bullshit. When anna nicole died no one came forward to admoish the media for spending so much time trying to figuer out who the father of her child is I am in no way defaming her may she rest in peace or what about elvis marrying a child bride who he moved into his home with her parents blessing yet this was deemed like a love story I think not I smell a double standard here, I did not mind the coverage it was better then all the other crap that was on. People relate to MJ I dont relate to pete I dont think others do unless there like him pig headed and biligerent

RIP MJ | 7/9/2009, 10:49 pm EST

To everyone who agrees with this loser congressman:

I started to write a response and then erased it because it was too exhausting trying to bring my intelligence down to idiot level.

Michael Jackson was eccentric which clearly freaks people out. He wasn’t “normal”. Get over it. It’s not a crime. He contributed more to this world than just music and dance. He contributed more than you or I or Mr. whatever his name is. And that deserves some respect.

All you have to do is look at his list of friends, respectable people who have nothing but good things to say about him. How can you be so arrogant as to think that you understand Michael Jackson better than they do. You haven’t even f*cking met him!!

RIP MJ | 7/9/2009, 10:52 pm EST

Nancy, it’s interesting you think Michael Jackson made mothers uncomfortable. Because Jordan Chandler and all the other kids mothers (people who actually knew him personally) let their kids hang out with Michael Jackson and knew they were having sleepovers.

Weird hey?

Most politicians are low-lives and this one is in particular!

Rest in Peace MJ!

Supernova | 7/10/2009, 9:22 am EST

This man is an ignorant racist. He has it written all over his face. He’s obviously evil, jealous and resentful that a ‘black’ person had this much impact on the global community. MJ was in no way a child molestor. It has been stated several times in documents that I’ve read that those families admitted to lying, but the media never mentions this on TV. Everyone think about it!!! Would a pedophile write songs like ‘Heal the World’ and ‘Man in the Mirror’? Of course, not. Unlike King, MJ impacted the entire global world with his beautiful music, sensational star power, love for humanity and sweet child-like spirit. That’s why people are grieving so. He represented sheer innocence and goodness and tried to use his celebrity in the most powerful ways. We always condemn what we don’t understand – just because something or someone is different. We did this with Jesus Christ and Dr. King – remember? Perry King is just envious because when he’s gone he will not have left the mark on humanity that MJ has. I wish that I could write him. I’d shut him up once and for all…..

Beverly | 7/10/2009, 9:37 am EST

Mr King I would just like to thank you for waking up a lot of ignorant people who would like to try and whitewash all of michael jacksons pedophilic activities and sweep them under a mountain of media fanfare and flat out selfdenials. We need more upstanding and outspoken citizens such as yourself to be strong for those who fear the judgement and mindless rants of blind zombies who will follow anything that has flashing lights and meaningless repitition.

michael jackson was a lowlife who happened to make some records. nothing more. anything else is just hype from devoted diehard michael jackson fans who dont or cannot accept that even an artist was capable of such heinous acts against children.

More power to you Mr King!

To Beverly ... | 7/10/2009, 11:55 am EST

and anyone else who disagrees: Why is it so hard to believe that someone just wanted to love? Are you that tainted by humanity? MJ had been abused as a child, but you probably didn’t know that. He was also made to work at 5 yrs old, so he basically grew up backwards. He was a man first and a child last. He was also a loving father that anyone with a heart could see. He couldn’t conceive of hurting anyone. He impacted the world with his artform and great humanity. I, too, am an aspiring to change American fashion as we know it today amongst other things. What are you and Perry King contributing to the world besides being cruel, racist bigots???? Nothing??? That’s what I thought. If you are going to defame someone, at least know the facts. MJ was a human being with a family and people who really loved and cared about him, but he just couldn’t be saved from people like you, Perry King, Martin Bashir and anyone else who sought to exploit, hurt and/or betray him. Heaven sent down an angel. There was nothing low-life about him. He was pure class. People like you and Perry King couldn’t even conceive what he ultimately achieved and what will be his legacy.

You brought so many people together with your beautiful music and mega-superstardom. There will be no others… > :-(

justanothervoice | 7/11/2009, 1:12 am EST

I’ve wondered if Mr. King’s private life came under public scrutiny, what “skeletons” would be found and exposed? Or my own life for that matter. Every single facet of Michael Jackson’s life has been made public and I shudder to think what that must have been like. And what is it about Michael Jackson that caused WORLDWIDE mourning at his death? Could it possibly be more than just being a legendary entertainer and musician? I would warrant so. And although I’m certain there are MJ worshippers globally, in no way do I equate mourning Michael Jackson’s death with some iconic hero worship, or the coverage thereof to be. His death wasn’t EXACTLY natural and his life wasn’t EXACTLY private. And I don’t understand why the media coverage of MJ’s funeral is being construed by Mr. King as INTENTIONAL disrespect towards those in the armed services or in ANY service capacity, civil, military, medical or educational. If he is offended by the media coverage of one individual’s death, then publicly insulting that dead individual who is NOT currently responsible for the coverage while the families and indeed the world is using the same media to mourn them for whatever their reasons, is at best in my opinion, shallow and ill-mannered. I say, if it offends you, try a different media, walk your dog, read a book or how about volunteer somewhere? Then take up your gripe with the culprits, not the deceased. And why is it that try as I might, I can’t seem to find evidence in a video or an article where MJ was seen or heard behaving in any way crass or crude towards the mass of paparazzi, his many hecklers, his millions of fans or towards ANYONE for that matter? Surely someone under the kind of pressure that he was under couldn’t keep up the gracious, public “facade” indefinitely? How can that be? And what does this mean? Maybe I haven’t researched enough, maybe I’m biased or maybe that MJ was gifted with an unusual, perpetual graciousness-unmerited favor-towards everyone? And how does one get to be this way? And when I consider this I have to wonder if the “shoe was on the other foot” so to speak, what sort of words would Michael Jackson have had to say at the coverage of Mr. King’s funeral? I’m pretty sure it would be something respectful and gracious. As well it should be.

That Rep.Peter King is a major putz is a well known fact, but i didn’t realize he was so heartless and cruel and just stupid.
Michael Jackson was a complex person: a brilliant songwriter and performer, an ACCUSED pedophile, a very loving friend and adored father, a tormented sad man who was also a drug addict, a self-hating African-American, a gentle and kind spirit…he was a good man who MIGHT have done some terrible things, might have hurt people…he was a contradiction. When Peter King dies I hope he is shoveled in the ground quickly and is forgotten, and gets the same level of compassion he chose to give Michael. If anyone is a lowlife, it’s fuckhead Peter King.

Cheryl | 7/11/2009, 11:23 am EST

Now just listen to all the people who are judmental especially Peter King. Remember we all must die what are we going to say when GOD tells us what we did and did not do are we going to set here and try to defend ourselves against GOD when he sees and knows everything. I dont believe for one minute that Michael Did what Jordan Chandler or the other person said he did and Jordan chandler admitted even after Michael Jackson death that he waslying. To those of you that are parents michael was a parent to I let my son and daughter both sleep with me and with anybody else if i trust them we need to as people stop all these allegations against people that we dont even know is true. Thes people ruined Michael reputation and being black in this country is what some of the White people here wants to do because they think they hold the power. But remember we have a black president now how are we still actin like stupi idiots. Because we cannot understand that GOD put black people here as well as whites and we all make mistakes we all lie we all cheat we all do something that is not pleasing to GOD above. THINK before you talk about someone and look at your self in the mirror are you a true christian if you are then you should never think negative things about anybody, hold gruges, ridicule, anyone or make false accusations. PLEASE people of the WORLD think about who hold the keys to our lives we are just living here this world does not belong to us. WE all have to pay our debts and we will either end up in heaven or hell we make our lives the way we live it here on earth and its left up to us to make the determination as to where we chose to go. GOD just finish the rest. But rest assured the LORD and GOD said veageance is mines. So people please leave michael along on him and GOD knows the truth let not make a big about this man he is dead and only GOD is the one he has to answer to not us. But all i can say is that he was my icon I love his music and I love all the things the did as a person. We all have addictions of somekind I just hate that it was prescription drugs. FOR crying out loud people find somethign else to ponder about let think about the good things Michael did when he was here not the bad things. Whosoever this Peter king is I hope and pray that you know GOD because if you dont then I am sorry for you and you shouldnt open your mouth to speak such things about people if you dont know the truth. Congressman or not You probably dont need to be in the white house but who am I to judge tell will tell. Maybe something will happen to you.

Michael Jackson was acquitted of all charges of child molestation in a U.S. court of law after lengthy due process. Apparently, Mr. King-an elected official- is disdainful of due process, or he is disdainful U.S. judicial system. Yet another racist Republican hypocrite.

Anonymous | 7/11/2009, 9:08 pm EST

Mr. King I thank you for having the courage to say what millions of Americans think. Michael Jackson hated himself as black, changed his color to white (BTW he didn’t have to change his complexion to white if he really had that disease, many blacks had the disease that he was talking about and they cover it by make up did not change the skin to white, beside if MJ did have that disease he did not have it on his face, just look on his previous pictures). So he became a white man/woman and breed white blond/blue eyes children for his own ego and pleasure, and lock them up, did not let them be exposed to things that should be essential for there natural development, and social skills. I suspect he made those home videos so he can show the court one day that he actually is a good father in case he will be accused of being a bad parent. I am wondering if MJ got so depressed after the trial because he knew he can’t have boys in his bed anymore. I am also wondering if his son Prince will one day when he will be free to talk without the pressure of MJ’s family to shut him that he was molested. He seems unhappy child.
Paris said what ever she said at the funeral because she doesn’t know better, MJ made sure the children will be depended on him, they all slept in his room.
People treated MJ as a child saying he had never has real childhood so it’s okay to act like a child, it’s a free country everyone can act as they want, but in same token a child can’t be a parent.
They say MJ did not pay for things always someone else picks up the bill, but he spent half a million just in one day in Las Vegas, it just shows how irresponsible he was.
Stop making accuses for him, so he was a good performer so what……

I hope the people of New York have the good sense to vote Mr. King out of office. I did some online research about the MJ molestation trial and found some interesting comments made by Jury members after the trial was over and they had found him innocent. One juror said she believed the mother had taught her children to lie to gain money or favors from celebrities. she also said, “As a mother, the values she has taught them, it’s hard for me to comprehend. I wouldn’t want any of my children to lie for their own gain.”

One news article in the New York Times stated, “The mother appeared to lose the jury with her rambling, incoherent and at times combative testimony. She argued with Mr. Jackson’s lawyer and delivered lectures to the jury.” Another female juror said, “I disliked it intensently when she snapped her fingers at us. I thought, ‘Don’t snap your fingers at me,lady.”

From other research that I have done, this family who made accusations about molestation against Michael Jackson, had previously made accusations against other celebrities in order to try to get money.

Michael is in the Guiness World Book of Records for making the most contributions to charity by any celebrity. He had 39 charities that he contributed to. Mr. King and the rest of you Michael haters; How much money to you give to charitable causes???

Michael’s song lyrics were clean; no foul language, no wrap lines about killing, cops, ets. Also, in his daily life, he spoke with clean language. His music was NOT about sex, drugs, murder, or other problems that plague our country. He set a great example through his music, just read the lyrics to “The Man in the Mirror” and “Heal the World”

He was one of a kind; and it should be the Lord who judges him; NOT Mr. Peter King!!!

Mr. King just showed how ignorant he is, the same with other haters of MJ. Just gather the facts and not just from tabloid news before saying anything. Chandler already admitted that his accusations are nothing but lies, both child abuse allegations were made just to get money. And it was proven in Court that MJ was innocent. And to think that despite of US being a great and powerful country, its surprising that most of its citizens are ignorant & couldnt understand diseases like skin vitiligo and psychologic behavior caused by lack of childhood that MJ had endured in his lifetime. MJ helped people around the world, all his humanitarian efforts that wasnt too much publicized, thus only few knew about it. The joys & love he brought to the fans, especially his songs & concerts will always be remembered in generations to come. Thanks MJ. Im sure u finally found the Peace & Love u’re longing in the place u’re at now.

The way that a fine journalist like Martin Bashir has been vilified and hounded by fanatics is disgraceful. All this for exposing the truth!

Speak up, Pete.

I love how some people have the audacity to call another a lowlife as if they were born angels. There is no human being on this Earth who has the right to judge another, because we have all wronged at some point in time. Has King ever considered that even if Michael Jackson DID molest a child, he regretted the action? Meanwhile King is able to hide behind the privacy of his life, not even attempting to understand what it must have been like for Michael Jackson to be in the constant eye of the public. I’m sure he didn’t always find it to be peaches and cake.

If there’s one thing I cannot stand it is people who do not even attempt looking at the world but from their own, limited perspective.

margaret | 7/12/2009, 11:14 am EST

I cannot believe the crap people say whatever happened to going to trial found INNOCENT mean if people can not live without the judgment of all these people that have not read transcripts, have not sat in on the trial of a 12people jury mostly white people. How do we forgive so many found innocent but not Michael you know why because hes different & thats why hes judged so harshly look at OJ he walked free after admitting in his book & bragging at how he killed 2people yet people still gave him a chance I dont get it.
Mike Jackson not only was a great singer entertainer he was a wonderful Daddy, son friend & gave friends more than most.As for another reason we should honour him the way he looked after so many countries that had orphanages hospitals, the millions he gave to childrens charities,Aids & many other charities I would like that kid to come out now & tell the truth.Molesters are incideous creatures that go after children not one two or three lots and lots they all have one thing in common they never show there feelings towards kids as Mike Jackson did & trust me I know!!!!
Michael was so innocent & anyone can see that look at all his nephews a molester would go after them one by one.
Michael was so gentle so kind & mostly caring he gave us all messages thru his music listen to the words I feel so sad what a incideous crime to be charged with even after being found INNOCENT
We humans can no longer lay down next to a child especially a man we can no longer put a child in our bed for comfort how sad is that!!! As for GAY MEN who adopt look out I bet you all put your kids in your beds fellas better not now you will be next if we can judge this man Gays will be next. we go fr one extreme to the other but one certain thing NEVER BRAND A MAN BEFORE YOU FIND THE TRUTH OUT NOT IN PAPERS OR MAGAZINES EITHER WE KILLED MICHAEL JACKSON THATS WHEN HE WENT DOWN AFT THE TRIAL WHY NOT TURN ON THAT KID AND HIS MOTHER THAT LIED OVER AND OVER AGAIN NOT A MAN THAT GAVE MILLIONS TO WONDERFUL CHARITIES & FRIENDS THAT LOVED KIDS & WAS DAMMED FOR IT THE WHOLE THING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

jacko fan | 7/12/2009, 1:39 pm EST

First of all, Michael Jackson was a child in an adults body. He wanted to have a childhood as an adult as he was beaten as a child. He wanted everyone to love one another and provided a place for children to be happy and have fun (neverland). He did nothing wrong. He was proven innocent and just because he paid money doesn’t mean he was guilty of anything. If he was guilty why would he be singing songs such as ‘Heal The World’. He wasn’t wacko, he wasn’t mad. He was different and society classes it as strange/weird to be happy and loving like MJ was.
Michael Jackson was a legend. He was the King of Pop.
It is sickening that King speaks ill of someone so great who has died.
Ironic though that the media were slating him at the time of the allegations and now his death is all over the front pages.
Also ironic that King talking about Michael Jackson adds to the media coverage.
RIP Michael Jackson

Peter King is an ignorant opportunist performing for his electorate, and I hope the Jackson family sues him for slander. Michael’s accusers were professional scammers and he was vindicated on every count because they could not substantiate their disgusting charges. When I see the gleeful, self-serving joy people take in perpetuating vicious lies, with no regard for the truth, it makes me want to rethink free speech. Michael was a lifelong humanitarian, and it’s time to stop this knee-jerk, bandwagon bullying. The world owes him an apology.

Wow. Please don’t include me in those “millions of Americans”. Oh and BTW, I’m a middle-aged white woman. Might I ask where you’re getting your information because you seem to be the ultimate expert on Michael Jackson’s past and present motives, behavior and intentions. How long were you a personal acquaintance of Michael Jackson? Or if you weren’t ACTUALLY personally involved in Michael Jackson’s life, maybe you’re credentialed in certain fields that would give you added “insight” and lend believability to your statements. So are you a psychiatrist then? Have you ever studied human behavior? Are you a dermatologist? On what do you base your information? I’m just curious. Or perhaps you’re just voicing your own unsubstantiated “opinions”? If it’s the latter, I can see why you would be a supporter of Mr. King. Wow.

Una Curan | 7/12/2009, 7:52 pm EST

Michael Jackson was the ultimate entertainer of all time! To accuse him of being a pervert is just wrong! Put it this way……he denied any wrong doing against children. He settled out of court for fear of being jailed, which is understandable! ok, that set doubt in many people’s mind but think about it……..if it was your kid that was “abused” would you settle out of court for some amount of money or would you want the b*st*rd jailed??? Set up! I REST MY CASE!!!!!! RIP Michael!

Peter King is King! | 7/12/2009, 9:27 pm EST

Mr King thank you for reminding alot of us about the true vileness of people even if they are in the public eye and are revered by people. Such things are commonplace in other parts of the world and these people are still getting away with it and no one dares speak out against it for fear they might be turned on. So thank you too for being brave enough to speak your mind.

I feel bad that michael jackson got molested as a child and I feel just as bad for the other children who were in turn molested and traumatized by michael jackson. theyll have to grow up remembering that the man some people idolized was really a sick and perverted person who never paid for his crimes against them. Maybe thats how michael jackson felt about his own daddy. Simply terrible for everyone involved. may god forgive you mr jackson cause I certainly will not. You have my vote Mr King.

Shame on Michael | 7/12/2009, 9:34 pm EST

Right on Pete King! Michael Jackson should be ashamed for betraying the trust put on him by molesting those children whom he dazzled with pony rides and go-carts and candy and plying them with liquor. A person like that had no limits to his depravity! And imagine people have the nerve to call YOU bad and all because you have the guts to tell people like it is.

You people should be thanking and praising Pete King not admonishing him.

Melissa | 7/12/2009, 9:44 pm EST

I was more naive when I first heard about rumors of michael jackson molesting children and I thought it could never be true. But when I heard and saw in depth interviews with michael I saw his eyes and mannerisms definitely give away the truth and it broke my heart. I also saw the way he reacted to certain things and knew that a truly innocent person would always stand their ground and never ever give up until the truth was told and he didnt do that either. Sure he was never convicted of anything but my family and friends and I all knew he did what he was accused of. Its tough for me because I really admired michael and loved his music and still do but now everytime I hear one of his songs its a mixture of emotions – one of them being anger that such a talented singer would throw his life away like that. I dont agree entirely with what Mr King says but alot of what he says rings true.

Una Curan | 7/12/2009, 10:00 pm EST

Good grief! Are all you people brain-washed??? I would say 99% of the population are behind Michael Jackson. Like I said earlier, he did settle out of court for fear of being jailed! NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY!!!!!!!! How many genuine parents would settle for a payment for child abuse instead of a jail term??? I’m guessing not alot! If your child was abused you would rather see that person jailed so they couldn’t re-offend than settle for a payoff! Seems to me they were just after MJ’S money like so many volchers! There are 2 sides to every story but not everyone wants to hear the truth! RIP MJ from NORTHERN IRELAND!!!!!!

michael jackson was acquitted WHICH MEANS INNOCENT… IT IS A FACT..
.and if i were part of the jackson family i would sue your damn ass.
how rude you are being to michael and his poor family who are grieving
for there son/brother/father..and all you can do is slander him more even
through he is no longer on this earth…….people want to hear news about
michael, he is and always will be a legend……what a Horrible nasty person
you are…..so get a grip and find something better to talk about…

RIP MICHAEL you are so loved by thousands

Mr. King,

You are a pathetic. To speak out at a time when a loving family is going through the most difficult of times at at be opportunistic.

One can only hope you, like many of your political peers do not a a skeleton in the closet.

candywho | 7/13/2009, 3:52 am EST

Just like what other people commented on this article, Mr. King, all I can say it that you are pathetic and I pity your minuscule mind. Michael Jackson did more than any other person of your stature did. He offered his whole life to the world and left nothing to himself – a TRUE public servant.

So what if he committed mistakes? Everyone does. Don’t you? I don’t think so. At least he was man enough to take that and endure that kind of pain? I wouldn’t think you’d be able to handle it if you were in his shoes, you know.

If you want attention from the media then go do something worth it like helping people and not bringing them down.

Melissa I can understand how you felt about michael since many of us enjoyed his music throughout the years. I myself grew up with his music so it did come as both a surprise and a disappoint to see such a talented and bright person reveal a dark side. I can only hope he tried to make restitution with the children he did those things to aside from paying off the families. Im still torn up about this whole thing and many of my close friends and acquaintances feel the same way. Dont lose hope Melissa. Not all of our artists are that way so dont give up on your dreams! =)

what do we KNOW? | 7/13/2009, 11:26 pm EST

Are you saying that the American Legal system is crap? Look, Mr King. If you say that the guilty can be found innocent , you are saying also that then innocent can be found guilty…works both ways….so why should MJ trust the legal system? He finally decided to…and look what that got him.
Let’s stick with what we KNOW. I for one DON’T know. And because I don’t, I will put my faith in the legal system. It’s people like you that would support lynching without trial.
Think for a moment….what if he wsa truly innocent. How could you justify what you have done to him?How can you justify driving him ultimately to his death? Imagine your child….the love of your life, your motivation to carry on, the reason why you see beauty in the world…taken from you because of accusations…and you were innocent….How can you justify that.

Cathy, Wisconsin | 7/13/2009, 11:34 pm EST

Mr King is absolutely correct.

lol are you listening to yourselves? “so what if he made a few mistakes, hes entitled for all hes done for the world”

is that what you think of the things he did to those innocent children? some mistakes?

what is it exactly that everyone is talking about when they say hes done so much for the world? sing some songs?

just as youre all fond of saying that he gave to charities – how the bloody hell would any of you know where any of that money (if any) went if he even sent it. did you live in his house to see him do it?

his actions prove everything that hes accused of doing – an innocent person would never pay off families to keep quiet and then take off to another country for years. an innocent person would stand their ground and defend themselves to the very end no matter what and be a master of their own convictions.

you think that attacking those who are justified in their accusations is someway to blanket your own denials so that you could feel good about yourselves?

there is no amount of media fanfare that will ever convince me and those know better otherwise.

Mr King I agree with you one hundred percent that people are simply rebelling for the sake of rebelling against anyone who states the truth about a person who had inappropriate behavior with children who couldnt defend themselves against a person with so much influence as michael jackson had.

to infer that this was all just some sort of scam some random children with their parents cooked up is simply ludicrous and shows just how blinded by antiauthoritivism people can get even in the face of the truth.

good for you for taking a stand against this kind of mania and I and my peers would stand beside you.

To Herbert, Cathy Wisconsin, and other whose are accusing Michael Jackson; please use your internet wisely and go to Wikipedia.org and read the article titled “1993 Child Sexual Abuse Accusations Against Michael Jackson.” Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia, and every claim in the article is backed up by reference sources!! After I read it, AND did my research, I determined that Michael WAS innocent. This article states only FACTS and not rumors and speculation. Do you think you’re intelligent enough to read it and deal with the facts???

R.S. | 7/14/2009, 11:23 am EST

To Melissa…You mentioned seeing Michael’s eyes and mannerisms when he was interviewed, and it gave him away…What would your eyes and mannerisms do if you had such charges against you and cameramen constantly in your face??? Also, you claimed “a truly innocent person would always stand their ground and never give up until the truth was told…” Michael was following the counsel of his attorneys…NOT TO TALK because it would be used against him.

When are person is arrested and read their “rights” bye the police it states:

“You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions. Do you understand?
Anything you do say may be used against you in a court of law. Do you understand?”

Michael understood his rights and he kept quiet unless his attorneys advised him to speak. Anyone with a lick of sense would do the same?? Do you have “a lick of sense?”

R.S. | 7/14/2009, 12:42 pm EST

To Herbert, North Carolina….and others who have not done any research….The Wikipedia (online free encyclopedia) states these facts, backed up by references.

1. In Early August, Dentist Evan Chandler gave his son, Jordon, a controversial drug, sodium Amytal. Under the influence of this drug, Evan got his son to state that Jackson had “touched his penis.”

2. Experts state that the drug sodium Amytal “makes patients extremely susceptible to suggestions.” Dr. Lewis Strong, a Los Angeles psychiatrist stated, “You can’t trust it, I never use it in my practice. I have found it to be unreliable. It’s certainly not a truth serum.”

Dr. Kenneth Gottlieb, a San Francisco psychiatrist who had used the drug, stated, :I would never want to use a drug that tampers with a person’s unconscious unless there was no other drug available, and I would not use it without resuscitation equipment in case of allergic reaction.

3. Michael agreed to a physical body search. He took off all his clothes, stood on a platform in the middle of the room, and was examined for approximately 25 minutes by a physician, a detective, a bodyguard, and a photographer. (How humiliating!!) The search report concluded that there were similarities between Chandler’s description and Jackson’s body, but there WASN’T a definite match. Included in the inconsistencies was an INACCURATE claim of circumcision.

4. On July 2, 1993, in a private telephone conversation, Chandler was tape-recorded as saying. “If I go through with this, I win big-time. There’s no way to lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever…Michael’s career will be over.”

When asked how this would affect his son, Chandler replied, “That’s irrelevant to me…It will be a massacre if I don’t get what I want.”

Hmmm….a man who gives his own son an unsafe drug and then doesn’t care how the accusations will affect him….Sounds sick to me.

5. On August 18, Jordan Chandler’s mother told police that she DID NOT BELIEVE Jackson had molested her son.

6. The police questioned 30 children who were friends of Jacksons, with all denying that the singer was a child molester. On August 25, two more young friends stated in a press conference that they had slept in the same bed as Jackson, but nothing sexual in nature had occurred.

7. A police officer involved in the investigation told the Los Angeles times that no evidence (medical, photographic or video) could be found that would support a criminal filing.

8. The police then began an investigation into Evan Chandler’s prior actions and found that he was $68,400 behind in his child support payments, even though he was well-paid as a dentist.

9. AND finally, Jordon Chandler (the supposed victim) refused to testify in criminal proceedings, the state closed its criminal investigation citing lack of evidence, and Jackson WAS NOT charged with a crime.

HELLO…if he was not charged with a crime….how can he be guilty???

Anyone who really wants the truth should read more facts about it. Anyone who doesn’t want to read the facts…..I can only assume they just want to “remain ignorant and spout their mouth off…”

Rhys | 7/14/2009, 8:19 pm EST

Herbert, what exactly is so ludicrous about the possibility that it could have been a scam that they had hoped would end in a big payday? Ever heard of extortion? And what is this “face of truth” that you refer to? Have you actually studied the facts of the case which, by the way, declared him NOT GUILTY? Man, talk about ignoring the truth. None of us were there, but you can’t just dismiss an acquittal that you don’t like by declaring the defendant too powerful to be convicted, and you can’t dismiss all facts that contradict what you want to believe by declaring that everyone who doesn’t agree with you is “blinded by antiauthoritivism.” (Herbert’s word, not mine.) Why don’t you try basing your opinion on the facts instead of trying to twist the facts to suit your preconceived opinion?

justanothervoice | 7/15/2009, 12:09 am EST

Just another thought…. If one is curious to the “humanitarian” efforts of Michael Jackson and concerned whether his contributions were reaching their destination, the information is as far away as your fingertips. But is it believable? Would one want to? Is it worth one’s time to perhaps extend the defined space in one’s mind that has been occupied for so long by pre-conceptions, media-fed and predigested for our viewing pleasure? Might I take just a moment to share what I’ve found? For starters, Michael visited orphanages in Romania, Tokyo, Korea, Hungary and Bangkok to name a few. He instigated a search and paid for the liver transplant for a dying two year old orphan in Hungary. Or check out Michael Jackson’s relationship with Ryan White, the boy who died from AIDS whose funeral he attended. He also equipped a 19 bed unit at Mt. Sinai for children with cancer and donated proceeds from “Man in the Mirror” to Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times, a camp for children with cancer. You can also check with the Los Angeles chapters of the following charities: American Cancer Society, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Children’s Defense Fund and the AIDS project Los Angeles. These are just naming a few in a very long list. But as I mentioned earlier, IF one is inclined, this positive information is as readily available as the negative, just not as marketable. You be the judge…..or have you already?

Rhys | 7/15/2009, 1:53 am EST

Regarding everyone being a judge in what seems to have become a national sport, I keep hearing comments like, “True, he wasn’t found guilty, BUT…” and then they go on to repeat every rumor and accusation with such righteous conviction that I can only assume that they and Peter King have some inside information that the jury didn’t. Those of us who believe that Michael Jackson was perhaps an innocent victim of the cruelest injustice imaginable think that not because we’re any less outraged about child molestation than you are, but because there is simply no evidence to back it up. Period. And I sincerely hope that none of you ever make it onto a jury.

At the very least Mr King is showing his support towards protecting our children. Our children come first.

what do we KNOW? | 7/15/2009, 10:42 pm EST

where is the love, man? where is the humanity? Why can’t we be different and be accepted? I imagine myself to be MJ. What must he has felt. Put yourself is his shoes….what evil has he done? what bad has he done to others. Maybe he was addicted to plastic surgery…so what? There are worse addictions. What BAD has he done? To you or me or anyone?
Can you imagine….you have the love for your child…..but he is taken away from you…the love of your life…the reason why you carry one….your motivation….the reason you still see beauty in the world…why? because you are accused of something you did not do….How can we even justify destroying someone else’s world and destroying someone else’s life.
so…there are some who say he is guilty…..but DO THEY KNOW? I for one don’t. So because I DON’T, I will choose to believe in their justice system. Can you imagine if he is truly INNOCENT? How we we justify what we did to him. We are responsible. As sure as we stoned him ourselves. You and Me. We killed Michael Jackson. Hey, Mr King is saying Don’t trust the justice system, man. He believes a guilty man can be found innocent. Works both ways dude. An innocent man can be foung guilty! So why should MJ trust the system? Your congressman doesn’t. MJ finally decided to trust the system…look wat that got him….DEATH.

There is alot of evidence that pointed to Michael Jackson engaging in child molestation with children whose care he was trusted with by parents who thought that he would be the very last person who they imagined would do such a thing and I can empathize with their feelings of shock and betrayal. Its definitely not something that is easy to accept and im sure they doubted even themselves in the beginning. But with so many many many distinct details about Michael Jacksons marks on his body that could only be viewed if he were either close to naked or totally naked was something that these children included when they came forward.

Also there were many details about the room where all of these acts took place and it was a very hard thing to refute as well as the fact that Michael Jackson did say in fact that he slept with these children at times which is definitely inappropriate behavior for a man his age to be doing with children (not his own mind you). I find often that those who yell and deny the loudest are often covering their own fears and doubts.
I pray for the families of the children and the children themselves and I also thank Mr King for having the steel to stand up and say what many of us agree with.

Linda, NYC | 7/16/2009, 11:16 pm EST

While you’re praying for the children, please also ask for a heart and a brain for you and Mr King.

I have another comment so tired of hearing about Michael being a molester as one of your readers say molesters all have one common factor creepy as they are they are secretive they would NEVER go on tv and say I think sharing a beds a beautiful thing with a child NO WAY.You know MJ was right it is beautiful nothing more beautiful than a child in bed with you playing and falling asleep in ones arms now its something sick to do because of sick minds like King in once they let these creeps get away with hurting kids for YRS now its over the top everyones guilty if a child goes to sleep in an Adults bedroom How sad is that so so sad my hubby feels funny if our nieces or nephews go into our room while hes in bed now once it never bothered him hes a great Dad & wonderful Uncle but now his guards up as with lots of men Why do we feel the need to judge everyone by what a few do molesters are a minority but I feel sorry for men now a days.
MJ was different eccentric & thats how they got him,now hes gone I heard some of MJ celeb friends all turned there back on MJ when he walked into the room they should be ashamed as for Cher what gives her the right to critisize MJ with his kids taking them to work etc I rem Cher & Sonny taking there daughter onto TV shows quite regularly esp Sonny & Cher series what right does she have o judge NONE Cheers

I just read from someone here that it is okay for a child to sleep with a grown man who is not related to them at all. That is just sick and you should seriously get your head checked. I seriously hope youre not exposed to any children in your neighborhood for I would never even let you in the vicinity of mine. It is NOT okay for adults to lie down with children and I dont care how many of you say otherwise or how many times you say it.

I agree with Mr King about the overexposure of Michael Jacksons death. I also tend to side with Mr King about Michael Jacksons inappropriate behavior with other children in his home is nothing for him to be lauded for. As far as many of us see it, Michael Jackson forfeited his right to normal society when he made the conscious decision to behave the way he did by fondling children that were entrusted to his care.
I can only thank goodness that genuinely good people who agree with me far outnumber disturbed people like you.

Hello,
This is to all the Michael Jackson fans and to all the decent people who are not judging michael jackson.
I LOVE YOU

michael was a pervert | 7/17/2009, 10:16 am EST

When I heard about Michael Jackson and the things that he did to those kids me and my friends threw out all of our Michael Jackson records and set them on fire and we danced around the fire like wild indians and then we made a voodoo doll of him and lit its hair on fire. And then we pumped the doll full of pain killers and alcohol, so never doubt the power of voodoo.

when Michael Jackson goes to hell, Satan will make him repeat ‘mamase mamusa mamacusa’ over and over again for all eternity.

Elizabeth | 7/17/2009, 2:01 pm EST

to all of michael jacksons fans:

youre all sick in the head. pray instead for the children he abused and traumatized for the rest of their lives. Mr King is right. Its scary to think that people who idolize this pervert are running around free.

bobbilou | 7/17/2009, 5:22 pm EST

It will be a very sad day for some when they meet their maker. The Lord said, “Judge NOT lest YE be JUDGED. Only God can truly judge, If a lie is repeated and practiced enough, it can easily appear to be true. What a pity and oh so dangerous. The tongue is a powerful member of the body. It can build up nations and hope as easily as it can destroy lives and dreams. Speak and men may live or die. It is poisonous!!! One should only speak what one truly knows, not what has been repeated through sensationalism and mass media. Televison shows and magazines main purpose is to make MONEY. It is all about money. I wonder everyday about those judgmental people that have falsely accused an innocent person and died in that sin and had to face God. I know how Michael may have felt on somewhat of a smaller scale. I was accused of cheating on a standardized test for my students. I DID NOT DO IT, but somehow one person’s opinion spread like wildfire and for a while people considered me a cheat. That hurt. I respectfully confronted the person who started the rumor. Her response was, “Yeah OK” Over time my work spoke for itself and my students scored eautifylly, even when I did not test them. I’m saying this to say that we need to be careful how we speak of another’s actions, because everything is not what they may appear to be. AND… if you are curious about anything in life. READ and RESEARCH for your self. Michael did not pay anybody. The insurance company did… against Michael’s wishes. There is a public document published to support this. Oh,, Jordan Chandler confessed that he actually did lie for the money. His dad made him do it. Go figure.

Linda, NYC | 7/17/2009, 6:57 pm EST

From the Guardian, during the 2005 trial:

“…the boy admitted to Jackson’s attorney Thomas Mesereau on Monday he told a teacher nothing untoward had occurred between him and the singer.”

Michael Muratore, Boston | 7/17/2009, 9:02 pm EST

this is an excerpt from the California Sun Herald: ….one of the little boys stated in the child molestation charges that michael jackson had promised him to be cast in a michael jackson video if he “passed certain tests” that included the boy be allowed to have his genitalia fondled as well as having the boy lie in a spread eagle position while michael stood over him…’ it was soon after this statement came about that michael jacksons legal team offered the settlement of 20 million dollars to the child’s family.

Woooow | 7/18/2009, 6:40 pm EST

All of you are saying “pray for the children” when….HE DIDNT DO THAT

they confessed duhhh

Bea, Massachussetts | 7/19/2009, 8:10 am EST

Mr King I heard what you said to the reporters and I decided to do some research of my own. The children involved recanted their statements to the police only after Michael Jacksons legal team made the offer of a settlement out of court for 20 million dollars to one of the families and from what others know more money was given to the other families involved but not publicly announced.

Its sad that one of our great singers threw his life and career away so callously for something so vile and Im praying that the children involved will somehow grow to get over this traumatic experience as the years go by.

Still, Jacksons death will have provided small solace to years of having to face other people who will ridicule them for having gone through this terrible experience.

But now that he is gone, let the healing begin. Thank you Mr King.

I am far far away from USA who love MJ because of His Good deeds he’d done for entire his love. And for entire my life I do belief that he’s not and never guilty coz I’m well educated who not easily believe to what media said. Poor American who only belief with Gossip and close their eyes, ears and heart for the truth… o wondering if difficult to live in peace in this strange world. I respect MJ as a human being, as a daddy of three young children. Thanks to the global technology now so I can also hear and see what happen in far away side of my world. But What suprise me so … people in the country which call them self Developed Country such as USA …who did not belief their own law system so how can they want to try save other country and be a global Cops such in Afghanistan,Iraq, Southeast Asia …etc. I feel so sad for USA troops who died in other countries far away from their country just for their ambitious politician.

Bea, Massachussetts | 7/19/2009, 10:03 am EST

Mr. King I heard what you told the reporters so I took it upon myself to do some research of my own. It was understood that Michael Jackson was acquitted of the child molestation charges only after his legal team advised him to settle out of court with one of the families for the amount of 20 million and some other undisclosed amounts of money to the other families involved that were never made public.

It is sad to see a great singer throw his life and career so callously aside over something so vile.

His death will provide little solace to the children who have to live with what happened to them for the rest of their lives – not to mention the taunts of other people for the terrible things that happened to them at the hands of Michael Jackson. I can only pray that they be strong and put this sordid episode behind them.

Now that hes gone maybe the healing can begin.

michael never bleached his skin he had vitiligo and there a photos to prove it he wore heavy make up and body makeup to hide it. nobody knows what happened michael had money and he was a nice person and people and oppurtunists around him felt they should take advantage of him by telling lies and making it turn into something big. there were jelous people also. mad because he was the only artist who ever in this whole entire world to ever sell out more albums than anyone, mad and jeleous because he is the first artist in this world to ever from the age of 5 being the best music performer and artist til his 40’s nobody has ever been a big artist from age of 5 til 40’s if the osmonds were to put out a new record now they won’t get no play.
When you have sold more records than anyone in showbusiness history then they just have the tendency to try to pull you down.
He was a very powerful, influential and rich Black Man who
pissed some Whites off. Hurt The Beetles and Elvis, they didnt like that did they now you get it.
When District Attorney Tom Sneddon smugly announced that Michael Jackson was to be criminally charged, and that Neverland was being raided, he was so blinded by greed, jealousy and vengeance that he could not see that the degenerate family he had sided with, the Arvizo family, in order to try and take Michael Jackson’s freedom from him, and ruin his reputation, all so that Sneddon could bask in glory, would actually bring Sneddon the ultimate humiliation. Sneddon’s case against Michael Jackson was built on lies, and was created by liars, and Sneddon got exactly what he deserved, failure!!!
When Michael Jackson was put on trial, accused of having molested Gavin Arvizo — who had learnt from his family how to extort people — the media refused to tell the truth. The media refused to acknowledge, or discuss, what was actually going on in the courtroom that was favorable to Michael Jackson. The testimony that pointed to Michael Jackson’s innocence, the success Michael Jackson’s attorneys had in exposing the prosecution case for what it was, sham, was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth.
When prosecution witnesses who desired to fill their pockets with Michael Jackson’s money, who hoped to become rich by selling false stories, who falsely accused Michael Jackson, and who made up as many lies as possible, as horrible as possible, to extort as much money as possible from Michael Jackson, were exposed, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth.
When the accuser, Gavin Arvizo, and his family, mother Janet Arvizo, and siblings Star Arvizo and Davellin Arvizo, stumbled over their lies, contradicted themselves continually, became argumentative when presented with facts that proved they were liars and extortionists, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth.
When Michael Jackson’s young cousin testified that the accuser, Gavin Arvizo, and Gavin’s brother Star tried to get him to masturbate in their presence, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth.
When it was revealed that Michael Jackson’s former employees only claimed to have seen inappropriate behavior by Michael Jackson AFTER THEY WERE OFFERED MONEY AND PAID BY TABLOIDS/THE MEDIA, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth. (Michael Jackson successfully sued these former employees many years ago, they still owe him money.)
When Michael Jackson’s current employees testified that the accuser, Gavin Arvizo, and his family slept in guesthouses at Neverland (and not in Michael Jackson’s bedroom), that they caused a great deal of trouble at Neverland, left a huge mess at Neverland, damaged and defaced property at Neverland, attacked the animals at Neverland, pulled knives on Neverland employees, stole from Neverland employees, stole from Michael Jackson, extorted Neverland employees by lying about their financial circumstances, extorted the government by lying about their financial circumstances, extorted other celebrities by lying to them and falsely accusing them, caused trouble wherever they went, and to whoever was unlucky enough to befriend them, overall having been shown to be users, liars, thieves, troublemakers and criminals, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth….. until now.
Aphrodite Jones, a reporter, ashamed of her behavior during Michael Jackson’s trial, having realized that she was wrong, has written this book – “Michael Jackson Conspiracy” – which is pretty much a compact version of Michael Jackson’s trial. It details exactly what happened in the courtroom at Michael Jackson’s trial (using actual trial testimony), the facts that were revealed and exposed, the witnesses and what they stated, how Michael Jackson’s defense team managed to successfully destroy prosecution theories and witnesses on a daily basis, how the media did not want to report anything that was favorable to Michael Jackson or his defense team, how some media reporters had already secured deals to have access to Michael Jackson if he was to be found guilty and imprisoned (which is disgusting, because this behavior implies that these jerks preferred that a child had been molested so that they could profit), and how Michael Jackson was found NOT GUILTY by a jury that saw right through the lies, right through the Arvizo family, right through District Attorney Tom Sneddon and his sham case, and right through the media garbage that has been circulating for years about Michael Jackson.
So, if you want the truth about Michael Jackson, how he has become a target for liars who want to become instant millionaires, and the victim of a media that promotes and prefers lies, read “Michael Jackson Conspiracy”.

Linda | 7/19/2009, 4:12 pm EST

Huh? You can’t settle a criminal case out of court. A defendant is acquitted when a jury determines that there is insufficient evidence to prove the charges against them.

Robert, North Carolina | 7/19/2009, 9:49 pm EST

An innocent man doesnt pay off the family of a childmolestation victim then take off to another country to hide for years. Nuff said.

Linda, NYC | 7/19/2009, 11:47 pm EST

I get why people think what they do, and for every argument, someone will come up with an opposing one to support whatever they want to believe. It’s been reported that he was forced to make that payment against his will by an insurance company. And I honestly can’t imagine anyone who is treated by the public and press the way he was, NOT going into hiding in another country, so I can’t agree with you less on that. I wasn’t there, and I don’t think anyone wants to support someone who would do that, but to accuse someone that you don’t know of something so terrible, when it’s obvious from most of the posts that these judgments are based on nothing more than emotion and a false sense of moral superiority, is just wrong. The charges were never proven, and if they were lies, then a man’s life was ruined, and now he’s dead.

Linda, NYC | 7/19/2009, 11:51 pm EST

Just want to add to Robert that you could just as well say that the family of a child molestation victim would never take money instead of prosecuting the perpetrator.

Linda, NYC | 7/20/2009, 1:18 am EST

And just to add, as to the dubious and often-heard argument that an innocent celebrity would never buy someone off to avoid a scandal, I’d wonder instead how a victimized child’s family could be bought off.

Shaun | 7/20/2009, 8:30 am EST

Its funny, how in one moment you make morals seems unpopular and in the very next youre using it to try and prove someone innocent. Nice try, but it does little good to impress upon those of us who know otherwise. Flipflopping behavior aside, what you call moral superiority most of us would call a demand for taking responsibility for ones own actions. And just as you said, its easy to twist words around to make them apply for whatever argument you present. The only difference here is that we KNOW that this man conducted himself inappropriately with children and no amount of money, charitable acts or support will ever tantamount to those acts commmited by him. Once you have engaged in inproper behavior with a child, all of those things before and after become forfeit. Anyone who acknowledges this and continues to support him are only putting their own weak moral fiber on display.

agree with shaun | 7/20/2009, 8:46 am EST

hahah so true Shaun. and now the media are trying to strike up this bogus murder plot and adding on a custody drama in efforts to distract the public from his child molestation charges. but thats not gonna work either if anything about michael jackson stands out in memory it will always be him molesting those kids. and to that person who said that we shouldnt pray for the children, wow – no conscience at all. you should ask god to help you.

justanothervoice | 7/21/2009, 11:34 pm EST

Nearly a month since Michael Jackson’s death and still the controversy over his life continues. Fascinating. As he was to the world and to me. And to add one more word in defense of or in condemnation against that fascination would be pointless in my opinion. Nothing that has been said is new or enlightening. And although Mr. King as an American is entitled to free speech, thereby his opinion, he added no illuminating or different opinion and to me his choice of timing and rhetoric speaks volumes for what is disrespectful since choosing a later time to air his platform would certainly have been more diplomatic. It’s plainly evident some lives were unaffected by Michael Jackson and I consider them fortunate in feeling nothing at all at his death. And still others found him abhorrent and I suppose they’re fortunate as well. He’s dead. As for myself, I’ll hazard condemnation for my unmovable and permanent fascination. It too is nothing new.

a bystander | 7/22/2009, 11:08 am EST

there is nothing fascinating about molesting children. neutrality is best served when there is no opinion at all whatsoever left to offer.

Nikki | 7/22/2009, 9:57 pm EST

To all of you haters of Michael Jackson, before I leave my laptop, here’s just a “quick” note:
Michael was aquitted. And I’m sure you know HOW many times. Let me ask you a few questions…’Kay, first. Does Michael even act remotely like a guy who’s into sex? I mean, yeah he grabs his crotch. Watch the Oprah interview. Sure he may act like he’s into sex but really, look at the guy. He’s a kid! He has a child’s soul. He’s always described as pure. And if you took the time to read about him, he has vitiligo. If you look closely, it proves he does because his skin does has “splotches” and “spots.” He “improved” his nose because all his life his dad MADE FUN OF HIM! READ IT! READ WHAT COMES OUT OF MICHAEL’S MOUTH! NOT THE MEDIA! And…you know, being innocent like twice kind of suggests that this whole scandal is retarded and that Chandler family really needs to find a better way to scam people. (I don’t honestly mean that.) You know, just LISTENING to the story doesn’t make sense. Jordan has no proof except his WORD. This never happened to Michael before. Loads of famous kid celebs spent time with him. No complaints. Whoopi Goldberg let her kids stay with him. Nothing wrong. His friends know him. His family knows him. If you believe LaToya’s previous comments, I’d like to say that she ALWAYS wanted to say something. Whether it was against her brother or for him, she wanted the spotlight. It’s even in Michael’s book. And I believe she had an abusive husband on top of that.

Michael was just a target for the media. He really and truly was. Even now they talk about his death as if it’s no big deal. They make up stories out of no where saying things like “he took 10,000 pills in 6 months!” They always mention a certain reliable source when…how can we be sure it’s reliable? It’s just THEIR way of making it up. They want to sound important, get their magazine to sell, ruin a innocent KIND man’s life. Mr. Chandler needs a better job since he forced his son to hurt a man who didn’t even hurt them. He donated more than anyone. What do you think that means? Any pedophile wouldn’t spend that much $ just for good sex with kids. I’m telling you…it’s just TOO much he spent. And the parents…SUEING Michael!? If you were a parent, what would you do if your son or daughter said some guy molested them? You wouldn’t sue for money! Money has NOTHING to do with it! You’d beat the hell out of him! You’d want him to be thrown in jail for the rest of his life! But MONEY!? If you believe the media for trying to drag this man down so THEY can also receive some moola, read a better book. Read MICHAEL’S story. It’s great. He was a truly great man. Mr. King is also one of those people who’s using Michael’s name and title to gain something. Career gain, money, personal, whatever! He wants to get elected I’m sure! And proves how smart he is. If he’s a congressman he should know this simple well-known saying:
“Innocent until PROVEN guilty.”
He’s bull I tell ya. And he was aquitted…!!!
He barely knows about Jackson.
I saw something on youtube saying you can’t sue for slander, so since Michael’s dead, King thinks he can get away with it. Have his few moments of fame, feel like a hero for the Americans, possibly -ahem- get elected.
If you have ANY common sense, compassion…ANYTHING! you’d know Michael was innocent. You’d know he was amazing. You’d know that his “little dancing” and voice was much more than that. If you love music, you have to love Michael. He was part of the fathers that just…created music.
I’m a fan, yeah. Can you tell?
I wasn’t always a HUGE fan. I liked his music and that was it. I barely knew about him. But then i researched about him and found out SO MUCH! Have an open-mind. Michael wants that. He doesn’t want to die in vain. He wants peace. He strived for it. He cared for everyone. He forgave. King talks about how the media’s disgracing itself and there are “more important things out there.” Michael cared about those “things.” I doubt King really does. If he hates Michael being remembered for, change the F***ing channel! Just please listen to both sides of the story. I learned that Michael was real. And I really wish I could’ve met him. I always did.

So if you STILL hate him…I think it’s because somewhere inside yourself, you don’t want to believe in good. You want to believe that he is a pedo. Fine. So be it. But keep an open mind about it.

The man was innocent. if you can’t see what he strived for. Lived for. Dealt with. Then maybe you’re one of those “evil” people.

Let him rest in peace.

God bless you Michael.

And YOU Peter King? And all of you who agree?

You don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

Those of you against Peter? Thanks…

Nikki | 7/22/2009, 10:06 pm EST

Also, to those who say “pray for the children who got molested” … how do you KNOW they were molested? Oh because someone said he did? Now all of a sudden you’re gonna believe him? Why, cus he’s a kid?

Kids can exaggerate a LOT. They can lie to their parents. ORRRRR their parents can make the KID lie! It’s happened before and it won’t be the last time.

And don’t say that’s all Michael will be remembered for. Because obviously he hasn’t.
Dont say the media’s covering it up. What if it was a murder? If you listen to his song lyrics, you’d get why.
His last song he performed. Chain of events. It all leads up to something suspicoius.

If they wanted to take him down with the trials, certainly they’d do it ONCE AND FOR ALL. When he’s gonna have a comeback is the perfect time to strike. Make it a murder less obvious.

And, now all of a sudden you DONT believe the media?
So if its
“HES A MOLESTER!”
You believe it…
but if it’s
“HE GOT MURDERED!”
you don’t?

I just go with the story that makes more SENSE.

You people really just…it kills me. You’re so one-tracked minded. Only one-sided. You don’t even know…

Nikki | 7/22/2009, 10:10 pm EST

Besides, we don’t have proof of what he did.
At least go on saying you don’t know.

SLeeping with kids, not a bad thing. Grandparents do it. Kids can sleep but doesn’t mean theyre getting raped.

There are some sick cases where parents actually do it to their OWN kids. Stop being so paranoid.
Michael had his own kids. He loved them. I’m sure they slept next to him after a bad dream or whatever.

Those kids that slept with him loved Michael.

Don’t judge him because it sounds wrong. Yeah I agree, it can sound gross. it totally does. But, if you think about the case, its a false pedo case and is shameful to kids who really DID get molested.

Nikki in response 2 ppl | 7/22/2009, 10:17 pm EST

Jordan Chandler confessed, I read in numerous places, not sure where though.

Anyways, if Michael left, I remember it was for a “healing process.” aNd you know, I’d run too. The whole world hates you for a crime you didnt commit.
When I was younger, something similar happened to me in school & all I wanted to do was run away. I ran to the library, stayed there for a very long time for days. then finally i had the courage to just step outside n see if the world would forget.

If the family accepted the payment, obviously it says a lot MORE about them.

if michael leaves teh country? so waht!? I would too. I really would.
If you wouldnt thats you. But Michael doesnt always fit in that stereotype.

That family you can say yea they migh tnot fit in that stereotype either….but it strikes me as sort of odd that they take the money and act like its not big deal.
michael, i feel, has better reasons and back-up. the family had nothing.
end of story. fine believe the media because someone decided to bring it to attention.

the fact that micahel said he also slept with the kids proves he thinks its not wrong. hes saying yeah i did it. i know it wasnt it wrong. so what?

most pedos would just say no nonononono and when its proven “uhhh yeah i did but it wasnt to hurt the kid.”
michaels case? straight out “i slept with them. THAT WAS IT.”
and that’s all there is to it.

use your brain.

Nikki in response 2 ppl | 7/22/2009, 10:21 pm EST

By the way I completely agree with Linda from NYC.
Shaun and robert and agree w/ shaun? It seems to me you only ahve one side of the story. I read both sides. So dont say I’m only on ONE too. I used to be on the other because i believed the media. then ire alised how foolisht he tabloids are. magazines are pointless trash.

im sure if you were in his shoes youd go crazy if the world hounded you everyday. a lot of people i know dont believe it either. they said the story had too many holes on the chandler’s perspective.

michaels can be too but it was put in a way so he can obviously look bad and take his money. why do you think they chose it to be this way? these scam artists are smart. they want their bucks.

Nikki in response 2 ppl | 7/22/2009, 10:30 pm EST

You people keep making statements saying he was a pedo blah blah blah.

and how do you know this? really…you just believe the media. its THEIR JOB to make you buy the damn mag.
again, jordan chandler one kid…says something and it all goes up in smoke. its “wanna be startin something” to ruin MJ’s life. You keep saying like YOU HAVE ALL THIS LOAD OF BULL PrOOF LLIKE YOU SAY MJ DO IT!

T_T Jeez…get your facts sTRAIGHT. It’s sad hes dead and yet people STILL don’t listen to the two sides.
you go “yeah well he payed the family. thats all im hearing.”
so, thats it. one thing sounds bad and you throw it in the trash.
what about teh chandlers? THEY ACCPTED! EVEN BIGGER!

Nikki in response 2 ppl | 7/22/2009, 10:36 pm EST

It is michaels agents’ job to protect him…so the fact they paid the families, you know, it makes sense.
say whatever ytou want to believe. you can tell he didnt do it. the media ignored what really went down in that courtroom.

he was aquitted twice. if THAT doesnt make sense to you…

Nikki in response 2 ppl | 7/22/2009, 10:40 pm EST

I can tell you th epeople who are against Jackson may be good at heart but are just ignorant. You ignore everything the press says. This Peter King makes statements when you are innocent until proven guilty. THis man wants to be elected Im sure. Doesnt make sense at all.
you believe the media…wow.

and we’re “disturbed” people Right. Fighting for an innocent man. Thats so wrong. Seeing how he wasnt evil. That’s so disturbing. Sorry if we offend you. Sorry if you think those kids who confessed, their stories dont make sense, no proof, dont get prayed for. sorry about that.

So Frank’s Mafia connections are okay, but Michael’s acquittal on all charges equals perverted bum, have I got this right?

Dave Clifton | 7/23/2009, 8:22 pm EST

Let’s keep it real… King is an attention seeking, unworthy peace of dirt. All you folk who believe Jackson deserves to be dead – may god have mercy on your souls. There was never any evidence this man hurt a single child yet you’re arrogant enough just to assume otherwise and then spread your hatred? After 3 FBI raids – nothing. Accusing Michael Jackson has become a profitable business and so many in the media have paid off their mortgages reporting lies and twisting truths. And all because telling the world that a once-thought-of good samaritan is actually evil MAKES A CAREER BOOSTING STORY. With his passing, Jackson has proven that it’s possible for the modern world to bully a man to death and yet feel no remorse. Shame on all of us. The media stinks and so do all you hillbilly, ignorant racists.

I was just wondering what it is that is bothering you about people wanting to pray for those children who were molested by michael jackson? you seem to be very angry at the prospect of a well known singer being capable of having inappropriate behavior with children. Surely you cant be upset with the childrens parents for wanting to get something for all the pain and suffering they and their children have gone through with someone whom they though could be trusted. Im just saying, you dont seem to have thought this through entirely.

justanothervoice | 7/23/2009, 11:26 pm EST

Has the anonymity of the Internet truly redefined propriety? Compassion? Michael Jackson is no longer affected by what is said, be it positive or negative. Our words do not benefit or harm anyone but the living. Michael was a son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle and father and his children and family have access to everything being recorded, visually or written. To think of potentially adding additional pain and grief to an innocent by the need to express one’s opinion should be detestable. If nothing good can be said, why say it?

with his comments Mr King showed his ignorance, self-righteous, and lack of human decency. with this kind of politicians no wonder this country is going downhill.

And for the people who are so convinced that MJ was indeed guilty of those crimes, have you read up the cases? I mean really read up the court documents not tabloid junks. If you haven’t then you really have no right to accuse him of those crimes (just think for a moment what if it was you who were wrongly accused and persecuted for 15 years?). If you have, I am sure you would see more than enough reasonable doubts to convince you that he was actually innocent. That is what happened to me. But of course I am sure there would be plenty Americans who are way too happy to just bash this poor guy so that they can feel better about themselves. It is a joke that they talk about children as if they really care.

Linda B. | 7/24/2009, 2:18 pm EST

It is because of the likes of Peter King and all his supporters who, in the face of facts, logic and a total acquittal, are simply incapable of letting go of their ignorant biases, that most of the world thinks Americans are utter morons. I’m American and I have to agree.

Fred McGinty | 7/26/2009, 8:30 am EST

The majority of people around the world are aware of Michael Jacksons crimes against children and do not respect him as neither an entertainer nor a human being. He gave up that privilege when he fondled childrens genitalia. These truths hurt many of his devoted fans but these fans must both accept and acknowledge their idols crimes if they wish to truly move on. Its not OUR fault that Michael Jackons commited these crimes, so dont hate US for wanting to expose him for one of the worlds most heinous crimes against another human being.
It is well documented that these children came forward and told authorities that they were each fondled by Michael Jackson on seperate occassions and describing things in vivid detail things that matched in each report
Im sure that would be reason enough to take what these innocent and beautiful children seriously enough to want to charge Michael Jackson with child molestation.
Michael Jackson was acquitted and not convicted for his crimes and part of that settlement included a 20 MILLION dollar payola to one or all of the families involved. Thats a hell of a lot of money for one to pay someone to avoid prosecution especially if that person knows they are innocent
For fans of Michael Jackson to even go so far as to devalue our American Justice System in order to safely blanket themselves from the truth of Michaels child molestation says alot of the weak moral fiber in some people today.

And to the person who stated that it is no wonder other countries hate America – maybe you should pack your bags and move to one of those countries that hate us so much ;)

Gail | 7/26/2009, 12:15 pm EST

hahaha……(shakes head) Im just going over some of the statements in favor of Michael Jackson and it boggles the mind the logic used to excuse away his pedophilic activities. For example, I read that Elvis Presley was supposed to have committed statuatory rape during his career and that no one came down on him for it. So in other words, you’re saying that if one person got away with a crime then its okay for someone else to get away with it as well? hahahah unbelievable.

Its the old “if any of you has never committed a sin then cast the first stone” defense. Crime is wrong no matter what perspective you put it in. If Elvis Presley did commit a crime, you can bet many of us would have less respect for him as a human being.

For those who think this way, you seriously need to rethink your logic.

Professor Robin Barnes | 7/26/2009, 8:25 pm EST

Government fears around the influence of superstars, once led the House Committee on Un-American Activities to launch a strident attack on Hollywood’s rank and file by circulating a blacklist. Similar methods were used by the FBI (under J. Edgar Hoover) during the student-led Civil Rights and pro-Peace Movements of the 1960s and 1970s. John Lennon was the target of illegal measures to neutralize his influence along with celebrity allies of these movements. Angst about the world’s two most influential international stars, by far, John Lennon and Michael Jackson, present a fascinating case study that warrant further study and investigative research. As part of legendary singing-sensations the mega-stars garnered international acclaim unlike any before or after. Lennon boldly addressed citizens of the world as part of a highly visible interracial couple, actively opposed to racial injustice, labor inequality, and war against an Asian enemy. From the date of its release, his hit song Imagine has been featured in a broad array of most-influential and greatest-songs-of-all-time lists. In pure visceral terms, it remains the greatest musical expression of global desire for world peace and unity that we have ever known. Michael Jackson’s 1988 video Man in the Mirror was on a similar trajectory toward inspiring a closer look at mass consciousness. If Jackson’s bold political commentary and visual depictions of the horrors of imperialist tendencies signaled a Lennonesque problem for those in power, it would have been dwarfed in scope by the public fervor ready to be unleashed over the nightmare unfolding in New England. Indictments of Catholic Priests came fast and furious from 1992-1993. Author Jason Berry estimated that by 1992 American dioceses had paid out at least $500 million in damages, and predicted that the eventual cost of compensating victims would exceed $1 billion. Within the year, twenty nine hundred miles away, in August of 1993, a confidential case report completed by the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services was leaked to Hard Copy television tabloid host Diane Diamond. Within hours the California affiliate of a British tabloid sold copies to reporters for $750 each. Dramatic headlines offered lurid speculation around allegations of sexual molestation. By September 1994, police officials had interviewed more than 400 witnesses when prosecutors announced that no child molestation charges would be filed. Various conspiracy theories about why Jackson was charged, though highly entertaining and filled with enough demonstrable claims to insure they will survive another decade or two, lack irrefutable proof of a conspiracy between California prosecutors and other parties. Descriptors and evidence of the malice and money that motivated individual actors abound and did create the perfect storm for a public debacle. Former employees who first testified that they never witnessed anything sexual were only too happy to recant and claim that they had witnessed something after their extortion attempts failed, and the fact that they were still allowed to testify for the prosecution as credible witnesses seemed to escape media notice. While Jackson had not yet become the threat that Lennon remained as a revolutionary activist, one would have to concede that stopping his momentum could have easily been an underling factor in the timing of the second set of charges. Indeed, only a “child molester poster-boy” as large as the Grand Canyon, could effectively divert public attention so that collective anger against the Catholic Church would not insure its ultimate and speedy demise. Jackson appears to have been a handy and convenient target for an establishment in desperate need for a scapegoat to spare the legions of Church leaders (and possibly some district attorneys) who for decades, according to one study: “kept horrific tales of abuse out of the public eye through an elaborate culture of secrecy, deception, and intimidation. By the end of 2002, it was clear that we were not dealing with one or two isolated incidents. Some 1,200 priests had been accused of abuse nationwide. “[R]epeat abusers, including priests who traded drugs for sex with minors, fathered children, and physically assaulted their victims:” were known predators that church officials shuffled from parish to another– where they abused again. On November 18, 2003, police carried out a pre-dawn search of Michael Jackson’s ranch. In April 2004, Jackson was charged with 10 felony counts, including child molestation, extortion, child abduction, false imprisonment and giving a minor an intoxicating agent. According to Rolling Stone Magazine Jackson’s trial was nothing less than a zoo and a freak show. “The prosecution’s case [boiled] down to this: In a panic over negative publicity, Jackson conspires to kidnap a boy and force him to deny acts of molestation that in fact never happened, and then he gets over his panic just long enough to actually molest the child at the very moment when the whole world is watching.” You decide?

Gail | 7/26/2009, 11:11 pm EST

Im sorry if I seem to be enjoying this too much but out of touch reasoning like this just begs to be heard;

“MJ didnt pay four families to drop the charges. He only paid the Chandlers to settle out of court in 1993 at the suggestion of his lawyers, consultant and company. But it was not an admission of guilty. The only reason was that if he didnt end the case, he would lose more money (billions of dollors) for cancelling dangerous world tour and other commercial contracts….”

This suggests that Mr. Jackson chose not to defend himself in court because he had “more important things to do” than to prove himself innocent……if that were even true then it would go to prove just how megalomaniacal Jackson had become that he chose to buy his way out of a jam rather than waste another minute of his time that he could be using to cut another record or make appearances.

hahah Gail. You hit it right on the nose. Iam so sick of hearing and reading comments regurgitating the same nonsense about acquittals and charity in ad nauseum but once someone has the temerity to voice their concerns about something that would threaten to taint the visage of their hero, they stoop to insults and personal attacks whereas the former would most definitely call for such, but is still reserved in favor of simply presenting the facts.

Its quite amusing to watch though the fruitless arguments take so many shapes and all of them eventually leading to the same tired diatribe of “lets not judge lest ye be judged” LOL. Maybe some growing up is in order……?

Peter King is an idiot! and by the way King what does it say about this country when a U.S. CONGRESSMAN goes on t.v. just to slander someone did you get your 15 minutes of fame? are you happy now? People really need to look behind every stupid headline maybe then they would have seen the real Michael Jackson. Maybe they could have seen the guy who was more then just a great artist. He gave so much to people all over the world and he KEPT on giving & caring even after people wanted to call him evil names.

*** I agree with this person, learn the facts you pathetic excuse for a human being before you go and slander someone who has done & will continue to do (with his charities like Heal The World) more than you EVER will to help the world or to help people!!****

Okiiii, well…

First off, Public opinion is not a trial. We are all entitled to come to what ever conclusions we deem appropriate. We do not need to be hatemongers for this. If the preponderance of smoke exists a reasonable person can legitimately and free of hateful namecalling shout “FIRE”. With all the court charges brought against him, out of case settling, matching statements by children, films about MJ approving of lying down with children other than his own, etc. any reasonable person can come to their own conclusion about the perverted nature of the man without being labelled as hateful. Conclusive evidence…no. Enough to make a rational assumption about the demented character of M.J….yes. Don’t attack the character of people who thru all thats out there don’t like M.J. M.J. was just a weak, troubled, probably abused , sick individual. He has both my pity and disgust. So yes, I too consider him to be a pedophile and am amazed by the millions of fans who choose to deliberately ignore his character flaws while attempting to cannonize him as a patron saint of music. Maybe pedophiles need a patron saint too.

jon | 8/3/2009, 1:58 pm EST

Regarding congressmans kings remarks he is obsolutely right.
Is michael jackosn any different than Elvis presley. When it comes to using drugs. Thank god it was a black doctor who helped poison him instead of a white doctor. Because it would have been consider a racist act. Michael Jackson is as blantaly quilty of child perverson just like any other child perverted individual. He got off by his money and celebrity. Just like O.J.Simpson. It funny the only white juror thought O.J. was guilty as sin but if she had voted against the other 11 juors she would have been considered a racist. You and the news people have become politically correct racist that attack those who express their opinion to your ignorance and stupidity. Rappers express violence and perversion against women as if women as just whores and human life is cheap and stupid white kids buy this crap and follow gangster live style because their bored stupid white kids. And if someone says something that makes common sense the news media attacks them. I am not a republic nor a real democrap anymore because both are political crap. But this man says what a lot of people think. And michael jackson isn’t and he will never be like Jesus Christ. The news media and the adoring fans have treated this individual as if he were a deity. He did produce some sophmoric music that sold millions. Get over him and lets move on to the next B.S. story.
African Americans undermine themselves without even even trying and then they blame it on everyone else. and It’s their own doing and don’t accept the blame for their own stupidiy.I feel sorry for this lonely man who had to turn to drugs for comfort and escapism and left his kids behind.
Joe Jackson !I had a father just like him / similiar to Michaels. both should have been required to get a license from the state to have kids. This guy did not know how to raise kids. They were his property/commodity to make money off of or do as he wished with them.Michael Jackson had a perversion for kids. He was in need of some real psychological help. But no one was there to be straight up with Michael! Thats the failure of all the black individuals who lived off him like parasites and who supposedly had his best interest at heart. Those who took care of him.The Emporer has no clothes!MNSBC plays the race card well.

LoveMichael | 8/4/2009, 9:21 am EST

I didn’t know so many people saw MJ molest children. I understand then their hatred towards them. And it is not a racist issue because I’m sure they feel the same way about Elvis then since he was with Priscilla when she was 14 and he was 24. Nothing is said about that. I’m shaking in my boots with all the hatred screaming out of these letters. But MJ is the most misunderstood, not really misunderstood, they choose not to understand him and their hearts feel better to not understand and falsely accuse. God is the last judge and he knows the truth. MJ is at peace now, Thank God he doesn’t have to deal with this mean, hate spirited world we live in. So talk on, he’s resting in peace. If he has a price to pay, ask yourself, what will you be judge for. Shun those that hate with glee, that’s their problem not Michael’s nor his fans. Hate is hate no matter how you try to sugarcoat or justify. It is what it is. Try and have a wonderful, love filled day. In all that is said MJ’s record speaks for itself and there were more people that loved him than hated him. How many people love you? So raise your blood pressure, twist your faces, and type out your dislike for the man, you can’t harm him now.

to jon and voice of reason | 8/4/2009, 10:35 am EST

hear hear! very well said, and notice that we dont have to stoop to calling people who dont agree with our views, names and haul out bible verses and court legal mumbo jumbo to get our points across. people who are screaming things like racism and conspiracy are the desperate cries of those who know deep in their hearts that jackson had quite a few skeletons in the closet.

to ask or even go so far as to demand that the rest of the knowing public lie down and not bring these things to light is not only incredulous but blatantly irresponsible. Ive always thought that going against societys norms was summat cool if not humorously eccentric but that definitely does NOT apply in jacksons case.

No amount of fanfare or repetition will ever change the minds of those who know better.

The cruel, as well as, misinformed and misguided comments show me how perverse this generation has become. MJ loved ALL children. It is the vile, envious and jealous society (like you all making the idiotic comments) about MJ being a child molestor. He is no more a child molestor than I am, and since when does showing affection for children constitute something sexual? It was America who hurt and destroyed him. Mr. Frank McGinty, I hate to inform you but MJ was loved and revered the world over. It was the racism of people like you and others on this blog that sought to destroy him. His good was turned into evil by evil people…..

FOR THOSE WANTING TRUE FACTS | 8/7/2009, 8:32 pm EST

PLEASE READ MICHAEL JACKSON CONSPIRACY BY APHRODITE JONES – SHE COVERED THE 2005 CASE, AND IT’S A MUST READ. IT EVEN GOES BACK TO THE POOR ADVICE MJ WAS GIVEN RE: THE 1993 CASE. ALL OF YOU PEOPLE STATING HATEFUL AND NEGATIVE COMMENTS ARE JUST EVIL AND CRUEL. MJ WAS AND IS THE BIGGEST ENTERTAINER OF ALL TIME. CHILDREN LOVED HIM, AND HE WAS A CHILD AT HEART. TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELVES AND PUT YOURSELVES IN HIS SHOES. I’VE HAD CHILDREN JUST WALK UP TO ME AND HUG ME; AND I’VE KEPT CHILDREN WHO WANTED TO GO TO BED WITH ME AND GUESS WHAT THEY DID!!!! WE WOULD LAY UP AND WATCH TV AND GO TO SLEEP…THAT’S ALL. HAS ANYONE HAD A CHILD DO THAT WITH THEM? DOES THAT MAKE ME A PERVERT – EVEN THOUGH NOTHING HAPPENED? MOREOVER, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO NOT BEARING FALSE WITNESS? IF YOU ARE GOING TO STATE COMMENTS, LET THEM BE DOCUMENTED FACTS BY RELIABLE SOURCES. THE MEDIA IS ALL ABOUT MONEY – BOTTOM LINE, AND IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT THE D.A. AND OTHER MEDIA SENSATIONALISTS WERE LOOKING TO SEND MJ TO JAIL FOR AT LEAST 20 YEARS – ALL BECAUSE OF MONEY. IN AMERICA, YOU AREN’T SUPPOSED TO BE BLACK AND BE GREAT – EVERYONE KNOWS THAT BUT NEVER SAYS IT. MJ WAS A BEAUTIFUL PERSON, WHO LOVED CHILDREN AND ALL LIVING THINGS. HE EXUDED LOVE BUT WAS HURT BY PEOPLE THAT HE TRIED TO HELP!! WHY IS THAT SO HARD FOR PEOPLE TO SEE? IT SEEMS LIKE TO ME THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL JEALOUS AND ENVIOUS OF MJ BECAUSE WHY WOULD THERE BE SO MANY CRUEL AND NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT A “FELLOW AMERICAN”? THINK ABOUT IT. HIS DRUG USE WAS DUE TO SOME PHYSICAL PAIN BUT HE WAS LEFT TRAUMATIZED BY PEOPLE HE GENUINELY LOVED AND CARED ABOUT WHO WERE SEEKING A PAYDAY AT HIS EXPENSE. HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE THAT KIND OF STRESS? HE WAS HUMAN AND COULD ONLY TAKE SO MUCH. HE WAS GREAT BECAUSE HE HAD A GREAT HEART, AND OF ANY ENTERTAINER HE WROTE SONGS ABOUT PRESERVING HUMANITY AND CONTRIBUTED MORE MONEY THAN ANY CELEBRITY EVER. SO, TO ALL OF YOU HATERS, HE IS GREAT – GREATER THAN SINATRA, ELVIS AND ANYONE ELSE THAT YOU WANT TO BRING UP AND YOU, KING, D.A. SNEDDON AND ETC. KNOWS IT AND YOU ALL JUST CAN’T STAND. LIKE MJ SAID, “IT’S THE GHOST OF JEALOUSY…….”

This man was a serial child molester, an unfit parent (let’s not even talk about the baby dangling incident) and in complete denial about the fact that he was a grown man (dare I mention the tree climbing…) In the words of Katt Williams “how did Martha go to prison when Michael Jackson’s walkin around smelling like roses!
Michael Jackson is a pedophile, the families were paid very well to keep it out of court, any guy who sleeps with children in his bed is behavior that shows he has indecent tendencies towards children. His skin condition is due to the vast amounts of surgery which is self inflicted and has affected the pigment of his skin, if it were Vitiligo the truth of that is the skin goes patchy not 1 solid color through out
Face facts the guy was sick and twisted and a fruit cake. Now there’s 1 less pedophile in this world to make the kids safer.

King of “Pop” my azz.

You all should leave the dead alone. Michael Jackson is dead. DEAD!!!!!. Stop harrassing him and frustrating him even in death. When he was alive, the press and media did their awful best to make him look like a complete leprous dullard. Now that he’s dead, he has suddenly become the Cynosure of Press Eyes.

Yes, he was a Pedofile; Yes, he disfigured himself through years of surgeries; yes he lived an eccentric life… but is he the first and only person to exhibit these characteristics? Michael Jackson is the King of Pop and for heavens sake he’s famous allover the fuckin world… and beyond. His fame means different things to different people.

Ask yourself: Are you famous? How many people know you? You and almost everyone living on your street know Michael jackson. Who knows you?

my final word on this topic | 8/16/2009, 2:09 pm EST

To all the comments that cite the settlement as proof of guilt: while everyone knows that he paid these people off, what no one seems to know is that he first filed extortion charges against the family, and the biased DA–who many believe was primarily out to make a name for himself–was going to charge him instead of pursuing what many also believe was a legitimate case against the family. It was only then that they were paid to go away. Why aren’t you asking what kind of people would accept money to let someone they believe hurt their child go free?

With respect :-D , Quinn.

Is it OK for me to criticize Nazis, Right Wingers, and the KKK – or is that not allowed – and if its’ not, then wouldn’t that be politically correct too?

When Jackson had his ranch searched during a November 2003 court-authorized raid, agents went in searching for pornography, underwear, and any material–photos, correspondence, etc.–further linking Jackson to the alleged victim. They left with more than they could have expected, netting items corroborative of the accounts provided to them by the two boys.

Can someone please explain to me how two boys on two separate incidents with years apart to them were able to just to take a wild guess at what was in Michael Jackson’s private room up to and including porn?

Just like people who would rather look the other way for their deal idol and hide behind the legal system by shoving acquittals in our faces, so will we continue to present further proof of Jacksons guilt and shout it from the rooftops. Eventually all of this will come to light and there is nothing on this blessed earth that you nor anyone else can or will do to stop it. Amen.

Michael Jackson die-hard fans are the most delusional unreasonable group of people I have ever seen.
True, Michael was probably the most talented entertainer of our time and I am also a fan of his music.
However, anybody with a brain and an education can see that he was severely troubled and was most likely a pedophile in my opinion.
His rabid fans could catch MJ in the act with a young boy, and say, “Well, it must have been bad lighting and that really did not happen.”
The irrationality of these crazy fans knows no bounds and that is scary.

lawlady33 | 10/20/2009, 1:17 am EST

Also, to myfinalword comment above, if I was innocent of a crime I would never ever ever settle and pay somebody off.
He was advised by his lawyers to settle. Why? Because his lawyers knew that in a civil trial, he would never win because in a civil trial the burden of proof is on the preponderance of evidence not beyond a reasonable doubt. His lawyers knew that they had enough evidence to meet that lesser burden of proof and so MJ settled.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why people cannot see what is right in front of them and is so obvious all in the name of blind star adulation. It is truly pathetic.
