Adam Lambert, Kris Allen Hit the Stage Again as American Idols Live Tour Kicks Off in Portland

Goth kids, soccer moms and diehard Idol junkies — including one superfan with Clay Aiken’s autograph tattooed on her shoulder — packed Portland, Oregon’s Rose Garden last night for the inaugural performance of American Idol’s summer tour. (Go behind the scenes with Lambert and Co. hours before showtime here.)

The two biggest stars of the show — winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert — embraced what endeared them to millions of fans throughout Season Eight. “Glambert” was out in full force, with tight pants, his otherworldly wail and a tribute to the original rock androgyne, David Bowie. Wrapped in a plaid shirt and a pair of jeans, Allen kept it simple and real, embracing the stripped-down soul sound that elevated him from dark horse to worthy champion. (Get all of Rolling Stone’s Adam Lambert coverage — photos, video and more — here.)

An adorable montage of Allen’s baby pictures, plus David Cook’s new video and a few airborne beach balls, kept the audience entertained as Idol No. 10 Michael Sarver prepared to take the stage. Backed by a small band with a big sound, the full-voiced Texan kicked off the show in high spirits with Gavin DeGraw’s “I’m in Love with a Girl,” which he dedicated to his wife, Tiffany. Megan Joy took the stage for two numbers — and lots of shimmying — reprising one of her best Idol performances, “Put Your Records On.” Piano man Scott MacIntyre left his pink pants at home but his rendition of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” — and his gentle mocking of Ryan Seacrest’s attempt to high-five him at the auditions — drew some of the loudest applause of the night.

Sure, the Idols can sing … but can they dance? As Rolling Stone reported from the Idol tour rehearsals, choreographer JaQuel Knight was putting the Top 10 through a workout, and Lil Rounds confessed pre-show that she was nervous about nailing the complicated choreography for Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” but her moves — and stylish cat suit — did the R&B diva justice. Luckily, the pulsating psychedelic patterns that backlit the stage weren’t enough to throw Rounds off her game. Throwing a bone to the older folks in the audience, Anoop Desai started off his set with a pitch-perfect “Always on My Mind,” the Willie Nelson crooner that wowed the judges during Grand Ole Opry week. But New Jack Anoop emerged — gyrations and all — with “My Prerogative,” the Bobby Brown track that got him through the Wild Card round and into the Top 13.

The Idol groove continued with a charismatic Matt Giraud, who got the crowd moving with his piano-pounding version of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle,” then paid tribute to another soul great with an outstanding “Georgia on My Mind,” giving his elastic voice the full workout, from raspy growl to falsetto.

Following a group medley that ran the gamut from Billy Joel (MacIntyre and Giraud on dueling pianos) to a taste of rap from Rounds and Desai, Allison Iraheta took the series’ fairly tame group number “So What” and made it just as tough as Pink’s version. With wind in her pink and purple hair, guitar strapped across her torso and a voice like a pack of cigarettes, the youngest Idol showed off her rock moves like a true rock goddess in the making.

Amid a sea of glow sticks and handmade T-shirts floated the hokiest sign of the night: “I’m okey dokey with Danny Gokey.” The only Idol to perform a Michael Jackson song on tour, Gokey punctuated his “P.Y.T.” with funky spins. (Adam Lambert discusses getting the Michael Jackson news here.) Dressed in his Sunday best, the church music director waxed philosophic about following your dreams, closing his set with two crowd-pleasing Rascal Flatts ballads.

In true Robert Plant style, Lambert made his arrival known, punctuating his three-octave howl on “Whole Lotta Love” with pelvic
thrusts and microphone straddling. Dressed to the rock-god nines in ripped and studded leather and denim, Lambert switched gears from hot to cool, soaring on Muse’s “Starlight” against a moody backdrop of twinkling lights. In an intimate and memorable moment, the gifted goth took a seat for the haunting “Mad World,” showing off his crystalline falsetto as smoke rose around him. After reprising “Slow Ride,” his energetic duet with “little sister” Iraheta, Lambert closed his set with a medley of David Bowie songs — including an ethereal “Life on Mars,” backed by a glowing graphic of the red planet — then sunk down into the stage, all too soon, to the loudest cheers of the night.

Marked by explosive bursts of noise and color, the countdown culminated in Season Eight champion Allen, who eschewed theatrics for a straightforward set of Idol favorites, from the soulful, percussive “Heartless” to his stirring piano-and-vocals interpretation of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine.” The somewhat maudlin Idol coronation song “No Boundaries” found a new depth and range in the band’s more rock-oriented arrangement, and Allen showed off his chops on electric guitar for Matchbox Twenty’s “Bright Lights.” Calling for a slew of cell phones and lighters, Allen finished his set with a plaintive rendition of “Hey Jude,” bringing the rest of the Idols back on stage for a chorus of “naa naas,” then closing out the show together with Journey’s ubiquitous “Don’t Stop Believing” … perhaps a tribute to former band member Randy “the Emperor” Jackson?

Set List:

Michael Sarver: “I’m in Love with a Girl” (Gavin Degraw); “Closer” (Ne-Yo)

Susan, you missed Adam’s “Starlight”, which featured the best vocal from him for the night

carrmuse2 | 7/6/2009, 9:04 am EST

You left out any comment of Starlight. I wanted more depth from your review. Especially about Adam.

Glamazon | 7/6/2009, 9:05 am EST

Listened to the entire cellcast and watched photo/video from Portland last night and Adam definitely stole the show! (No surprise!!!) All the Idols (and material) were good and we’re really looking forward to seeing the show and especially to seeing Adam live in San Diego!!!

Nina | 7/6/2009, 9:08 am EST

So I get up this morning and see that Adam Lambert is a trending topic on Twitter. After doing a little research I realize that everyone is buzzing about his performance last night. So I went to YouTube and DAMN. That man knows how to put on a show. I might have to try to scrounge up some tickets for Newark because I can’t wait to see him live.

TT | 7/6/2009, 9:10 am EST

Adam’s “Starlight” was one of my favorites of the entire show. Actually, his whole set was unreal. American Idol, what? I hate that show, but Adam couldn’t be less of a cookie cutter Idol if he tried.

Edwin | 7/6/2009, 9:12 am EST

Hey, what about Starlight? The vocals were absolutely out-of-this-world magnificently, outrageously, exquisitely impeccable! :)

pashie1 | 7/6/2009, 9:14 am EST

I was there! Best thing I’ve seen in years…well…Adam was. Once again, Adam was in a league of his own. The others didn’t come close. Sorry.

Dee | 7/6/2009, 9:16 am EST

I saw Adam’s “Starlight” on Youtube and it was the most fantastic cover or that song! There just isn’t anything Adam can’t sing. Love!

Annie | 7/6/2009, 9:23 am EST

Great show..and ADAM..
WOW, WOW ,WOW.

No words, can anybody say SUPERSTAR! FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Becky | 7/6/2009, 9:26 am EST

Americans get satisfied easily. This Lambert dude, very manieristic, is something completely overrated. Nice voice. And not much more. Too Broadway. WAY too (fakely) edgy.

Becky,

did you even watch the tour live to give such a comment????

you are just one biased, mean and music-senseless pea!

sidewalkstory | 7/6/2009, 9:33 am EST

I listened to the cellcast and partied on twitter during the show while people posted pic’s. If that was the closest I could get to Adam, so be it. I don’t know how I’m going to last a month until he gets to NYC.

PDXloveslambert | 7/6/2009, 9:35 am EST

I have never been to an AI tour concert
but when I saw Adam the first time, I knew that I would have to go.
I was not disappointed! Adams voice fills the stadium like a helium fills a balloon. Sweet, intoxicating and makes you high! That with
Surprisingly “better voices than on tv” were tattoo blonde ambition, tender scott, anoooooop, and amazing.
Most shocking was that they entertained everyone there from all ages….but this 38 year had more fun than the kids I took!

Charisse | 7/6/2009, 9:38 am EST

Adam Lambert is damn FAT!!!! Nice voice, nothing half as spectacular as the hype seems to force people think. Nice singer. Nothing more. Looks like a trans and surely he wants to look so. Beauty is another thing (use creams for acne and slim down, bud!)

nora | 7/6/2009, 9:38 am EST

loved everything about adams performance!
from what ive seen the others were o.k but adam…hes just something else!!!

lisak | 7/6/2009, 9:39 am EST

Starlight was out of this world … and the Bowie set – wow!!!!

lisak | 7/6/2009, 9:40 am EST

by the way – have you noticed that music and musicians that Adam mentions get attention – Everyone I know is now talking about Muse (a group most didn’t know about before) since Adam said they were his favorite band.

pdxloveslambert | 7/6/2009, 9:41 am EST

Adam was sooooo amazing. I videoed and drooled and stared and was entranced. His hips and dance made every cell tingle. I wish the whole night could be all about him.

ravengirl | 7/6/2009, 9:42 am EST

Say what you will, but it’s clear to me and most people who heard or saw the concert that this was the beginning of the Adam Lambert Show and the birth of a rock star.
(And yes, Starlight was one of the best last night — how did you miss that?)

Camicar | 7/6/2009, 9:42 am EST

Adam sounded and looked fabulous — can’t wait until the show arrives here in September!

chipitasgirl | 7/6/2009, 9:45 am EST

It is such a tribute to Adam that people paid those prices just to see his set. I am telling you…..mark the calendar. His first solo concert will be an amazing event. He gets the audience to a fever pitch….he is the real thing…..I MEAN the real thing.

Pickoc | 7/6/2009, 9:49 am EST

Gosh… only retarded like AI viewers and stupid teens unaware of music can not know who Muse are, and get excited about them just because a fat idiot (I agree, Lambert is fat) tells them he likes them (a publicist move, guaranteed). Americans following Idols puppets and machine promotion are seriously embarassing. The only decent Idol was Kelly C. After her, is all about people who couldn’t make it alone, but will through Idol’s juggernaut promotion. Same train as Jonas Brothers. That’s not art. It’s a machine meant to sell.
Adam Lambert alone couldn’t get a record deal. So believe, he’s not THAT great alone, or he would have been famous way before Idol (how old is he? almost 28? PLEASE: if he were a tenth as good as he thinks, or his fans think, he would have recorded a solo album 5 years ago.)
Rolling Stone right now is getting ridicolous: The Hills, Jonas Brothers and American Idol fakes? This used to be a serious music mag. Those days are long gone.

maryann | 7/6/2009, 9:56 am EST

Go Adam!!! You rock!!!

London | 7/6/2009, 9:58 am EST

Starlight was absolutely brilliant!
Adam Lambert will be such a Mega Star! He has Amazing God given vocals, style, charisma, the IT factor..and Beautiful and Sexy…What? Who commented that he is fat? Are you frking crazy?? He’s perfection…

Sean | 7/6/2009, 10:05 am EST

ADAM, YOU ROCK & HOT & SEXY LIKE HELL!!
GO ADAM, WE LOVE YOU!!

Kat | 7/6/2009, 10:07 am EST

I’m not an AI viewer nor am I a teen but Adam Lambert is a super star! Youtube here I come! BTW everyone who has seen him in person say he is thin and gorgeous!

Sammiville | 7/6/2009, 10:07 am EST

No doubt about it. Adam Lambert is the best vocallist in the world. That has already been proved on every comment on this page. Every single comment is applicable with Adam Lambert, not even one person mentioned about the other 9 and why??
Because they are totally out of the zone including Kris. Adam will be the blend of Elvis, John Lennon and Michael Jackson.

Variant | 7/6/2009, 10:10 am EST

The biggest star is ADAM LAMBERT
the best of the best !! People scream crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christina | 7/6/2009, 10:14 am EST

Watch live on the internet, while friends kept me posted on my cell!

It was Amazing, seeing Adam!! He has to be big!! we need talent like his around!!

HE IS FREAKING GOOD!!

Frankie | 7/6/2009, 10:14 am EST

This hysteria about this Lambert guy is a shame. It’s all so fake. Yeah, cute voice, like millions others. He wouldn’t be anywhere just with it. Fake idol for fake people.
American Idol indeed is ruining decent and real music scene.
Kids, try to be smarter than this (nah, okay… you cam’t. This generation is dumber than a rock).

Michelle | 7/6/2009, 10:15 am EST

I am also not a teenager (27) and not an AI viewer (1st full season watched) and I think Adam Lambert has ’star’ written all over him. I would never in a MILLION years consider going to an American Idol tour if it weren’t for him.

I’m going though this summer and waiting in anticipation for his solo tour!

tj | 7/6/2009, 10:15 am EST

Adam was the STAR. Adam never tried to brak into the business before. He was in to theatre and decided to try to record and decided last year to try for Idol, and the same can be said for anyone who goes on Idol, and not only Kelly but Carrie went on to great things. I don’t understand people who come on here and profess to hate Idol ,why waste your time commenting if you DONT like it? Some people just enjoy being negative and that is really just plain stupid. You look like envious fools.

Dunsa | 7/6/2009, 10:16 am EST

Hey Pickoc!!! What the F*ck is your problem here??? Tell us how many fans or even friends you have! If you think so worthy of yourself why don’t you go audition for American Idol and see how well you can do? You are just a jealous fat idiot and an insult to the human race! Go get a life! Adam rules!!!!

tj | 7/6/2009, 10:17 am EST

Adam is the World Idol, a true superstar in the making. Alll you who come on here and write negative trash are sad sad beings. get some help

Dunsa | 7/6/2009, 10:20 am EST

Mia | 7/6/2009, 10:21 am EST

hey Frankie, look in the mirror and say the word stupid, lookin right back at you. What a hateful little idiot you are. Go back to the farm. Idiots like you who judge others usually have no life and you sound very angry with life.

tnt | 7/6/2009, 10:21 am EST

The glamberts are worse than the old Claymates–they swoop in with over the top praises of their idol and challenge anyone who doesn’t agree with them. There were nine others there–including the WINNER, Kris.

Kelly | 7/6/2009, 10:24 am EST

I knew it and it happened, Adam Lambert rocked the show! He’s the reason, sit down, I’m goin’ to Seattle and see him again. It’s the Adam concert for me, not AI, but it was put together well, good nite, and Adam was scortch and sizzle and smokin hot.

AdamLuvr4evr | 7/6/2009, 10:26 am EST

You forgot about Starlight!! Adam was beyond amazing!!! Can’t wait for his new album and his solo tour!!

nagelchick | 7/6/2009, 10:29 am EST

always a couple of no-talent haters–ADAM is amazing–it is a shame your anger/hate blinds you to real talent–sit back and watch the birth of our newest “rock star”

nagelchick | 7/6/2009, 10:29 am EST

always a couple of no-talent haters–ADAM is amazing–it is a shame your anger/hate blinds you to real talent–sit back and watch the birth of our newest “rock star”

mc2012 | 7/6/2009, 10:31 am EST

pickac got the jealousy sickness. Last night was the best Idol tour ever, bar none, and Kris, Adam, Allison are major talent.Adam owned the show, clearly he can outsing anyone, and he did, he sounds celestial. Kris made it intimate, and it was like Adam and Kris were a yin/yang set. If you can find a ticket, any ticket, grab it.

Patricia | 7/6/2009, 10:31 am EST

If people are just hearing about Muse for the first time now, that just shows how out of touch the American idol audience is with music. Also, I love David Bowie but seeing someone try to channel him is equivalent to watching a bad Elvis impersonator in Vegas. Adam needs to be himself for once. Way too much acting.

michelle | 7/6/2009, 10:31 am EST

Too funny how some people keep trying to drill into others’ skulls that Chris is the WINNER. Its so desperate, like “Stop talking about Adam Lambert because he’s not the winner! The other guy is!” Um yeah, if that voting result showed anything, its that America is still homophobic and that Arkansans finally learned how to text.

jfpb | 7/6/2009, 10:34 am EST

Frankie, you don’t know me so how dare you call me Fake! My admiration for Adam Lambert is VERY REAL. Did you read the article? The biggest applauds of the night went to Adam. There is a reason for that, and it is NOT
fake. You say this generation. I am 61 years old.

Karin | 7/6/2009, 10:50 am EST

Just love Adams looks and performances. I can’t see him live, because I’m from Europe, but certainly searched for every snippet today and thanks to youtube watched his performances. So great and outstandig! Looking so forward to his CD!

Trish | 7/6/2009, 10:50 am EST

Adam Lambert’s performace was electrifying. He is a true genious. I can’t stop smiling when I watched him. As for the rest of the idols was just good & can be seen at any clubs.

Lissa | 7/6/2009, 10:51 am EST

ADAM is the sexiest rock god on the planet and beyond!!! His live vocals are unbelievably even better than what we heard on TV and his charisma is absolutely untouchable by any other performer out there. He owned the stage and the audience. Cannot wait for his solo concert
There were other performers last night???

Kurt | 7/6/2009, 10:53 am EST

to tnt – there may be nine others including the winner, but MY winner and the only one I will buy a record from is definitely Adam!

JustPassinThrough | 7/6/2009, 10:56 am EST

This is amazing…No Gokey lovers or haters commenting? No comments about Kris’s set? (He did win after all.) No one inspired by Scott or excited by Allison?

I’m impressed by Adam’s vocal skills (and I’m not young or easily swayed by pop culture), but I can’t believe that he’s the only person inspiring comments here.

It’ll be fascinating to see where all this interest leads.

Idiots like Frankie! | 7/6/2009, 10:59 am EST

Don’t be so hateful and jealous!! What have you got against Adam personally to warrant your rude comments? The more you hate him the more people will love him so just get used to it!!! Adam is going places you will never see in your whole life! So I suggest YOU get a life and start showing some respect to a beautiful and kind human being who has won the hearts of millions!

Katya | 7/6/2009, 10:59 am EST

Adam Lambert was super amazing last night. I can’t stop thinking about his performace. He was sooooo genious. Can’t wait for his real concert!

xoxo | 7/6/2009, 11:00 am EST

Adam’s performances was out of this world! He’s truly a star!

Hendrix | 7/6/2009, 11:01 am EST

GOTH KIDS, SOCCER MOMS AND DIEHARD IDOL JUNKIES? LOL.

How about snarky Idol mocking 20 something year olds like myself? Because there were a sh.it ton of us there. Thank god I didn’t see any cougars, goth kids and teenies. No offence if you are one.

Also, Adam Lambert? His voice is insane. Really f-n mind blowing.

adamsoldestfan | 7/6/2009, 11:01 am EST

It really would be fascinating to see the demographics of Adam’s fans. I am 63 and have “turned on” multiple friends in their 40’s and 50’s to Adam. Interestingly enough, although I know high school and college kids I don’t know any of them who are tracking AI on their own–they might see it if their parents put it on. Anyway, I am betting AI is still pleasing the advertisers. Adam was great for my consumerism–I just bought myself my first IPOD

blake | 7/6/2009, 11:07 am EST

God, you Lambert fans don’t give anyone else room to even comment! Your fawning will be the downfall of your idol, it makes him look ridiculous.

THANK YOU ROLLING STONE, it’s about time you recognized KRIS ALLEN. He won, he has the most fans, and you risk alienating those fans with the constant focus on Adam.

maddie | 7/6/2009, 11:11 am EST

I listened despite the terrible sound to the cellcast last night, and Kris sounded incredible, even with that less than great sound.
Even then you could feel the emotional connection. He’s so wonderful, I’m glad I’m going to see this concert when it comes to Portland, Maine!!! GO KRIS, YOU ROCK!!!

mom_shell | 7/6/2009, 11:11 am EST

I was entranced listening to him sing starlight, OMG he is amazing and last night proved that this is the star of a worldwide career for Adam Lambert

Anonymous | 7/6/2009, 11:16 am EST

Pickoc/Frankie et al – why such bitterness over such an amazing star? His voice and stage presence is phenomenal. I am 45 years old, rarely watched American Idol, have wide choice of music tastes, admittedly lately quite mainstream, Pink, Prince, Queen to name a few biggies but in my youth appreciated rockier punk bands. Adam not only can SANG! but has written his own material in the past. I have googled it and really like it. Also I am from the UK and I have bought my Idol tour ticket for Rhode Island in September and am boarding three flights there and getting three flights back. I am scared of flying – can’t really afford the journey – but something has compelled me to do this. Am I crazy? Maybe, but I know a super hot star when I see one, and I had to see him live. The furore over Adam is because he is WAY talented and will be an international sensation. Kudos to RS for seeing this. If you don’t like him, don’t read, don’t listen.

Vada | 7/6/2009, 11:17 am EST

Wow! This site is actually nice to Kris today. I may faint. I love it, and please keep it up.

Kris and Adam are so different, they are not competing with each other anymore. There is plenty of room for both of these extremely talented guys.

I love Kris, but don’t dislike Adam, either.

ola | 7/6/2009, 11:19 am EST

to Charisse and some others

why do you people have to be so disrespectful…alway looking for some kind of imperfections, leave Adam alone, seriously…. look in the mirror and find your own flaws, are you perfect, or what… god… how old are you anyway??? 13??? high-school??? it’s time to grow up, nobody is perfect, or do you want everybody to get anorexic? Adam has been working out, I can see he lost a lot of wait, so sh** up…. anyway, who cares about how he looks, it’s about SINGING, ENTERTAINING, get it already!

Domo | 7/6/2009, 11:21 am EST

Idol skeptics (used to be a”snarky idol mocker” like poster Hendrix), I know where you are coming from, but some of the talent from the past two seasons is starting to change the American Idol stigma a bit. Yes, it’s still a reality singing contest, but Lambert and Allen are both genuinely talented and are viewed as such by many in the music industry.
Lambert’s vocals are insane and I don’t think the reputation of the show will hold him back.

Judes | 7/6/2009, 11:21 am EST

Thank you for a very balanced review!! I laugh at some of Adam fans who say when someone likes someone else but don’t rave about Adam that we are negative but when they discount everyone else- that’s not- no its more its downright rudeness!!
I absolutely loved Kris’s set – in parts he sounded very Elton Johnnish – a great deep sounding voice – & this is just watching it on You Tube. He would sound awesome at the concert!!
I haven’t seen everyone’s set but from what “balanced ” reviewers say- they all did a great job . I just wish some of you Adam fans were as gracious as he is to everyone else!!
Everyone has different tastes in music & mine isn’t Adam’s voice but I do admit he is talented but so are the other finalists !!

jackie | 7/6/2009, 11:24 am EST

Adam, Adam and only Adam!!!!!!!!

sweetp | 7/6/2009, 11:25 am EST

To all the haters on Adam out there, jealousy is a cruel thing, and you really should go get some couseling for it. Not only does he have the body of a lean fit Sex God,the beautiful skin of a baby, and the gorgeous face that any man, woman would die for but he has the voice and talent that is better than anytning I have ever noticed in my entire life. You ROCK ADAM and I will follow your career to the end of earth.

Andy | 7/6/2009, 11:29 am EST

Adam signs flawlessly beautiful in & out of flasetto. His performace was explosive. As for the rest, thy’re were just good, but I would not lay down my cash to see again, excpet for Adam’s concert.

Linda | 7/6/2009, 11:36 am EST

Adam is the World Idol!! A W E S O M E !!!

Congratulations to the 10 idols! Saw snippets and i think based on feedback, they had a great time.

I especially would like to congratulate Adam! Soar as high as you want, your fans will be there to help you reach your dream! Go Glambert!

Congratulations again to the idols!

PDXAIFAN | 7/6/2009, 11:45 am EST

ADAM is a consummate entertainer. I’m an Ivy-League-educated physician who has never been a hard-rock fan. But the guy is electrifying and his voice is amazing. Any person who can make ME want to go to a hard-rock concert is in a league by himself!

There are those of us who are impressed by unique and different and those who want only main-stream, comfortable music. Ergo, the battle lines drawn between the Adam and Kris fanclubs. Just agree to disagree and move on!

Cindy | 7/6/2009, 11:53 am EST

Wow! Adam rocked Portland. What an amazing performance. Cannot wait until he has his own tour. Incredible talent.

carlyNYC | 7/6/2009, 11:56 am EST

thx RS for the review. . . like others, after watching the vids of all the performances i was totally blown away by adam’s rendition of Starlight. it was perfectly, hauntingly stunning — yet u did not mention it. ?? worth the price of admission in and of itself it seems. perhaps i will see newark yet!

Vada | 7/6/2009, 11:56 am EST

To PDXAIFAN: I am a hard rock fan. My CD collection has everything from Staind to Disturbed and GodSmack. I am even developing an appreciation for Slipknot of late.

I don’t consider Adam to be ‘hard rock’ at all. I consider him to be dance club rock.

Oh, and I love Kris, so there goes your theory that I only like ‘comfortable’ music.

SuzieCreamcheese | 7/6/2009, 11:58 am EST

Correction, Blake. Kris had the most votes, not the most fans. According to every poll I’ve ever seen, as well as the number of posts about him on various sites, Adam is the one with the most fans, and I’m confident that this will be borne out by his record sales. Having said that, it’s not a competition anymore. Let’s just enjoy both talented guys.

jillh | 7/6/2009, 11:58 am EST

Listened on a cell cast last night. Pretty much everyone was good, but Allison, Adam and Kris were All fantastic. Made me even more eager to see what they do on heir own debut albums. I’m going to the show at Staples Center and am very excited about that.

Oh, and thanks, RS for a balanced review. I know your magazine loves Adam, but it’s nice to see you giving props to Kris and Allison as well.

Jo | 7/6/2009, 12:00 pm EST

I’m so glad RS loves our Adam. Adam is our glittery alien from planet fierce. His talent is otherworldly and his vocals are insane. I can’t wait to see him in Duluth.

Ursie | 7/6/2009, 12:01 pm EST

Scanning all the comments it doesn’t surprise me that the majority of them are positive takes on Lambert’s singing and star quality. The rest seem to be about Lambert as well – refuting the positive comments with oddly pathetic slams on Lambert’s appearance! The RS article was about the entire show but where are the other idol fans? Superstars get super-fans. If the Adam fans are here in force then why get your tits in a tangle naysayers? You’re just as obsessed lol

Janelle | 7/6/2009, 12:14 pm EST

I LOVE the review of Matt Giraud! I heard it on the cellcert and I was BLOWN A-WAY! I hope more people appreciate this mega talented hottie :)

Interlofer | 7/6/2009, 12:21 pm EST

Well, there was, if fact, remarkable talent on display last night at the Rose Garden. It came in the form of a slip of a girl with a voice from God. If before I never saw star potential in a fresh, young artist I did last night.

Allison Iraheta is something rare, perhaps nonexistant, in today’s offerings of pop/rock vocal performers. Allison Iraheta is a singer. She can sing Joplin down to your soul. She can sing P!nk, and rock you out of your seat. She can sing Heart, and make it throb. And she can hit every note dead on at 125 decibels. Her performance was mesmerizing. Her performance was thrilling.

This slip of a girl was called upon to duet with the man billed as the most remarkable singer discovered in recent history. He is truly amazing, I can attest. This 17 year old slip of a beautiful artist matched his every note, move, and nuance. The house came down. Props to the producers for assembling this overpowering duo.

I left the concert thrilled and amazed, and thinking that I must order her latest CD’s when I got home. What! No CD’s! Google did inform me that ALLISON IRAHETA is signed with Jive, her first album due for release in the Fall. I don’t remember when I last said this, but, I can’t wait! Oh, by the way, I want Adam Lambert’s album as well. BUT, if I had to choose – she’s really all that.

Light | 7/6/2009, 12:26 pm EST

Well said Ursie, I agree with everything you have said. I find it amusing some fans still have to make some sort of war out of all this. It’s all about preference ,not eveyone is going to like the same kind of music ,that is why there is so much variety. But to put someone down is such a vicious manner and call fans of that person stupid is so ridiculous. It just shows you how the dregs think(which is not at all) in assuming they know who others think and feel, and if it’s not the same as them ,they get all frothy at the mouth. That being said, Adam Rocks, he is on his way to becoming Iconic and is a beautiful person as well. so come on naysayers, have at it, I couldn’t care less.

nagelchick | 7/6/2009, 12:31 pm EST

Ursie–you nailed it girl–it is all about adam–the lovers and the haters–none of us can get enough–He is ADAMAZING!! Kris is a doll:)

Vut | 7/6/2009, 12:34 pm EST

Adam’s performance was brilliant & his voice was flawlessly beatiful…but his set was too short…more Adam, please

calvinshobbes | 7/6/2009, 12:35 pm EST

Well done Kris Allen! You rocked it out last night.

T | 7/6/2009, 12:44 pm EST

Adam’s live performace was super fantastic. I didn’t want Adam’s set to end…so amazing. As for the rest, it was good, but won’t pay money to see again.

RoRo | 7/6/2009, 12:46 pm EST

Sounds like a great show. Thanks, posters, for the review. Looking forward to the Dallas show.

Nelson | 7/6/2009, 12:52 pm EST

I too didn’t want Adam’s set to end. His live performace was so amazing & his voice was sooooo beatiful & flawless. Can’t wait for Adam’s full concert.

sparkle | 7/6/2009, 12:55 pm EST

Charisse I bet you are one fat ugly person to harp on someone’s looks. Usually it’s people who are insecure with their looks to mock someone else’s looks. I feel sorry for your low self esteem. I’m pretty and I don’t berate other people’s looks. Adam is gorgeous. Charisse You are just ugly inside and outside.

Jasmine | 7/6/2009, 1:02 pm EST

Adam’s live performace is so amazing & his voice is unbelievable! I was disappointed with Allison..cause she sounds so good, but lacks charisma. Kris & the rest is also good, but Kris’s set is too long, can’t wait fior it to end.

Sheri Virtue | 7/6/2009, 1:15 pm EST

Adam stole the show. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack when he came out. When he sang mad world I fealtt a couple tears stream down my face. I will never miss Adam when he comes to portland.

Jen | 7/6/2009, 1:16 pm EST

Adam was and is just amazing. I wish the whole concert was him, his set was too short, I didn’t want it to end, he has the star power and the fire for live concerts and his CD are going to be just crazy wonderful! While I like Kris and his easygoing voice, sorry, not meaning to be offensive but no way could I ever sit through a whole concert of him alone.

Kareen | 7/6/2009, 1:20 pm EST

Adam = World Star
The rest, so so

Ayu | 7/6/2009, 1:23 pm EST

Adam was amazing last night! I can’t wait to see him in a few weeks. I was surprised to see Adam trending on Twitter at #3 and was wondering what happened. Then I did a bit of research and found out that he was amazing singing that Bowie Medley! His version of Starlight was also very very good! He definitely stole the show last night.

Amy | 7/6/2009, 1:26 pm EST

Totally, agree that Adam’s set is too short…his live performace is so amazing & his voice is just flawlessly beatiful with unbelieble falsetto. Definitely will pay money to see Adam’s full concert…for the others, once is just fine.

Sarah | 7/6/2009, 1:29 pm EST

Adam completely owned the stage last night!!

A few sad ppl here seem to hate Adam. Why don’t you try becoming a rockstar first? Who are you anyway? We don’t know you. People like you don’t deserve any attention.

mj and adam | 7/6/2009, 1:43 pm EST

MJ is my all time favorite artist…Adam is my second fave….and I know Kris won but I like Adam *shrugs* sorry if you can’t handle that it’s just my ummm preference

Marie4thofJuly | 7/6/2009, 1:57 pm EST

Did not attend, waiting for DC. Read a great article last night on USA Today that had imbeded inside a link to click to the article’s writers blow by blow account of each and every performance. Sounded like Adam and Kris owned the entire night, with Adam getting the biggest response, so I cannot wait for DC. This article on RS I will recommend as well.

LuvYaAdam | 7/6/2009, 1:59 pm EST

I heard the concert through a cellphone, and Adam’s energy and vocals were A M A Z I N G. Can’t wait to see him live Aug 7th…just can’t wait!!!

Ian | 7/6/2009, 2:01 pm EST

Adam belongs in Vegas. Once you’ve seen him on Idol, you get the idea. I actually enjoyed the other Idols and the winner Kris Allen. All Idols sounded better live and Kris is an amazing instrumentalist, vocalist. His set was very well done and so refreshing after the smoke, sparkles and gyrating body parts.

Grey | 7/6/2009, 2:02 pm EST

I watched some videos of Adam Lambert and his performance last night. Let’s just say..it was amazing.

nagelchick | 7/6/2009, 2:20 pm EST

IAN–interesting–first you attempt to dis Adam–before you compliment the other IDOLs–you have to try to knock him down to build up the others?? WOW–if Vegas is the worst you can come up with–I guess he is in good company with singers like Celine D.!!!

Laura | 7/6/2009, 2:27 pm EST

Adam ’s live performace was freakingly amazing & his voice was just flawlessly unbelievable. Aliison sounds very good too. The rest is just good. Kris’s set was too long & plaintively only one note, but he’s cute.

Margo | 7/6/2009, 2:36 pm EST

I can’t wait until the D.C. concert where I will see the one and only Adam Lambert! I’m going only because of him, but if any of the others are good it’s just icing on the cake. Sounds like Adam was every bit as good in concert as he was on ths show.

Mary | 7/6/2009, 2:42 pm EST

I’m glad to hear the concert was GREAT! I am not surprised that Adam stole the show! He is phenominal! Congrats to all the idols! I hope that some or all of the haters on here can learn to follow the example that Adam is showing to the world…. compassion and kindness go a LONG way people! Quit with the hating and show some LOVE once in a while!

OregonluvsAdam | 7/6/2009, 2:44 pm EST

Adam was AWESOME! He was the only performer who kept the audience on their feet during their entire set. (They began standing for Kris’ first song but sat down by the time he got to the second song.) The audience was polite and responsive to all but Adam got the best response. Allison, a distant second, was also clearly a crowd favorite. Kris was calmly and politely received.

Anna | 7/6/2009, 2:48 pm EST

Adam is amazing!! I dont care if Kris won!! Adam is my favorite and always have been and will be!!

cayman | 7/6/2009, 3:09 pm EST

Ian: Ooohhh! I love smoke, sparkles and gyrating body parts, and, judging from the fan reaction last night, so do a whole lot of other people! I can’t wait to see Adam and the rest of the Idols in September.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like Kris, too. He is amazing at what he does as well.
However,IMO,while both may find success, Adam is going to be a mega star. You will be hearing about him for a long time to come, and will probably be sharing your experiences of him with your grandchildren when they are talking about him!

Watching Adam made me want to have hot sex. The others are just ok, but no way would give my money to them again. Kris’s set is too long with only one tone, but he’s good looking though. Allison is good as well.

Vivian | 7/6/2009, 7:15 pm EST

Okay went to the Portland concert with my boyfriend who is aces because he got us the tickets! So we are there and he says Megan Joy is a hot chic and I have to agree she is very pretty. But she came out in an all black outfit with these boots on and turned heads! Loved Matt Giraud! Holy cow he has a great voice why doesn’t that man have a record deal? Adam comes on stage and the whole place went nuts! Adam sings his first song and then his set goes into a new song and he drops off the coat he is wearing and when it falls off his shoulders the crowd went NUTS!!!!!!!!!! HE hadn’t even started to sing yet he just took off his coat and the fans were so crazy! I loved it! At the end of his set he disappeared thru the floor and people were so not ready for him to stop singing. It was like teasing everyone you know. Then Kris came up there and you could barely hear him sing. The best song of the night the group song was nice and then the fight to get out of there was tiresome. My boyfriend and I held onto each other’s hands and shirts so we wouldn’t be separated. It was great. I hope they dance more next time!

Andrea | 7/6/2009, 7:19 pm EST

After seeing the videos for the concert last night I am soOOo pumped!! I’m going to the san diego and cleveland concerts because the cleveland one isn’t until August and I can’t till then to see Adam Lambert!!!!

TK | 7/6/2009, 7:33 pm EST

OMFG…Adam, you electrify my life. Your Whole Lotta Love is pure SEX! your Starlight is unbelievably beautiful. Bowie’s Medley is as hot hot hot as it gets. I didn’t want your set to end. Can’t sleep just thinking about your sense of humor when you did Whole Lotta Love & give me the best sexual thrill…Can’t wait for your own concert. ADAM ROCKS!

I agree with Kareen “Can anyone honestly say they would sit through a whole concert with any of them except Adam?
Not me!” All the Idols were good, but Adam was exceptional!!! I can’t wait for his solo tour. Already saving money for front row seats to the Adam Lambert Concert! You rock Adam!

lucyethel | 7/6/2009, 9:45 pm EST

I Loved Scott MacIntyre’s
performance, a highlight of the show, his vocals and piano were fabulous and left me wanting more

LambertsLabelle | 7/6/2009, 9:46 pm EST

Think its just tuff luck for a bunch of VERY talented artists that in their season was an Adam Lambert. He overshadows everybody with his showmanship, stagepresens and talent out of this world.
There a a lot of singers in the top ten which I would like to give an A plus, but Adam just raises the level so high that nobody can reach him.
I think personnaly they are all very good friends and so the comments should be cool and without trashing any Idols.Everybody has his fans!

Repulsed! | 7/6/2009, 9:54 pm EST

If I wanted to have SEX in broad daylight, I sure wouldn’t do it on an American Idol stage where little kids are watching! All Adam needed was a pole and a little encouragement and he would have gladly stripped ~ anything for applause! Ugh! You Adam fans can have him! Give me Kris any day! And, by the way, I hate Adam’s SCREECHING!

Adam Bomb Eileen | 7/6/2009, 9:56 pm EST

I have tickets for the Detroit show and can’t wait. What I saw on youtube today took my breath away. Adam’s performance was spectacular, especially the Bowie medley. If my heart beat faster to see him take the coat off to reveal his buff — yes BUFF — arms and chest, imagine what’s gonna happen when I see him live! I may have to smuggle some smelling salts into the show!!! Or at least pour my water bottle on me!

He never ceases to be amazing, beautiful voice, amazing stage presence, sexiest dance moves and gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!! I love you Adam forever!!! Can’t wait for your solo show!!!!

American Idol - Kris Allen | 7/6/2009, 9:56 pm EST

Did you people remember that Kris Allen won American Idol? I’m so sick to death of hearing about everything that Adam does. The guy has a good voice, he’s not the next coming.

Adam Bomb Eileen | 7/6/2009, 10:03 pm EST

So, Adam raises the bar, eh? Let’s take that bar and turn it vertical and make it into a pole for Adam! Yeah! It’s OK to be sexy, Repulsed!Adam brings it: talent, charisma, amazing vocals, performance excellence, looks — and SEX SEX SEX!!!!!

Lock | 7/6/2009, 10:14 pm EST

To all Adam haters, if you are sincerely putting out your opinions, everyone will respect your opinions. Unfortunately, you are bashing Adam. You are just a bunch of rude “humanbeing” who seems don’t give a damn to true talents. I didn’t go to the concert. by listening to performances on youtube, there is no doubt about it, that Adam rocked the whole house. He was the best! However, I love Kris’ Heartless very much. He was an amazing artist. Allison and Matt were pretty awesome too.

jackson | 7/6/2009, 10:17 pm EST

Sorry, but just can’t see what all the hype is about Adam. Most of the other idols have more talent especially Kris and Allison.

broddybounce | 7/6/2009, 10:20 pm EST

Watching the videos — Adam is ELECTRIFYING! Pure showmanship, and cannot wait to see him in concert. A few of the other Idols were enjoyable, but the only other performer who gave me a rise was Allison, who I think is a Rock Goddess in the making — “Cry Baby” was unbelievable! A reviewer somewhere mentioned that they would be first in line for tickets to an Adam concert with Allison as the opener — agreed!

Now, on the negative side: production value. I don’t get it — the #1 show on television and one of the most popular seasons of the series ever — and, with the exception of what looks like great video, no set pieces whatsoever. HUH? Not even those simple long steps they’ve used before that the Idols can walk down to make grand entrances. C’mon, you can’t get those on one of the trucks, fellas?

And where are the dancers..?? I know they had them for the Season 2 concert and maybe others. What, they couldn’t afford a few more people to add some eye candy to the stage? I mean, Lil doing “Single Ladies” ALONE? And this is after the guy who choreographed Lil is the same one who choreographed Beyonce? Who the heck is funding this tour that they don’t have a few extra dollars to give the stage a little bit more of a magical feel? I remember seeing the tour a couple of years ago and they had already taken the dancers away and the stage felt empty. It just doesn’t make sense.

And I hope this lack of production value was strictly about money (as ridiculous as that would be, given all the merchandising revenue) and not because the director, Raj Kapoor, has no vision — because if this is his vision, there IS no vision.

But the biggest crime: not having Adam’s entrance on the elevator platform, rising through the fog. I mean, wha…? This is the most unique performer Idol has ever had, he’s all drama and glamour, and this is one of the most anticipated entrances ever, with one of the most famous introductions to a song (”Whole Lotta Love”) and you just have him walk up from the back like he’s some hack in some nightclub somewhere? How about giving a true star an entrance befitting his talent? Now this one I DO blame on Kapoor because the elevator platform is already there and there is nothing financial about it, and I don’t see how it can conflict with anything else in the show, because Adam does exit that way — what gives, man?

ocean | 7/6/2009, 10:34 pm EST

I went to see the show last night and I was generally pleased. As usual, Adam was flashy and trashy. Honestly speaking, I was longing for some real music after Adam’s talented screaming. Thank God, Kris was there to save my ears and soul.

broddybounce | 7/6/2009, 10:37 pm EST

Rolling Stone: I don’t get it. You allow all this bashing and hating on here, but I post comments with constructive criticism about the production, nothing negative about the performers, and you delete it? Makes no sense.

broddybounce | 7/6/2009, 10:38 pm EST

Oh — there it is — it disappeared and reappeared. My bad — sorry — nevermind!

Jenna | 7/6/2009, 10:40 pm EST

Adam is the only reason I am going to the show. He can gyrate, sing, strip and whatever else he wants and he doesn’t have to do it for attention. Adam is a star. I can’t wait for his solo tour cause I know it’s gonna be outrageous, entertaining and sexy. Adam is a true idol and Idol will never have another talent like him.

bebe | 7/6/2009, 10:49 pm EST

That was a fun show! Great to see the idols perform without Simon and company present. I was especially surprised by Anoop. He was engaging and his vocals were terrific. Matt got us dancing and Allison totally rocked it. Danny was fine until he started talking. After he condescendingly sucked up to the audience, he couldn’t resist playing the dead wife card in order to preach. I didn’t feel inspired by what he said; I felt beaten about the head and shoulders, because he doesn’t know when to stop talking. Good message but remember, it’s always about Danny. I screamed my freakin’ face off for Adam! His song selections were brilliant and his performances white-hot! Now about Kris. If you followed Season 8, you now that musically, Kris and Adam are very different. So why is anybody surprised or disappointed that Adam would jack up the energy in the room and Kris would mellow it out? I thought they balanced each other well, and frankly I needed some coolin’down after Adam’s set. Honestly, I think it’s pointless to even compare the two. Kris is a fine musician in his own right. He is also the official American Idol, so get over it, people. Anyway “Hey, Jude” is a real crowd pleaser.

AussieFan | 7/6/2009, 10:54 pm EST

I listened or tried to listen to the cellcast yesterday here in Australia. The sound was bad, but what made the day one of the best for me was all of Adams Fans tweeting, posting vids and chatting, wailing and whooo hooing for Adam. I felt as though I was actually at the concert. Adam Lambert is a born entertainer, he Rocks my world!!!!

MarCanadaForAdam | 7/6/2009, 11:05 pm EST

Kris who? Leave Hey Judge to the Fab 4. Adam Bomb – Bless this amazing talent! Everybody else might as well have left the stage.

I am saving up money for my visit from HKG to the US to see Adam Lambert next year when he has his own concert! Do you think I’m crazy! I do and I am loving every minute of it!!!

katwats | 7/6/2009, 11:47 pm EST

from reading the comments, the common thread seems to be the ’sexiness’ of adam.(which is kinda surprising seeing that he looks quite soft-outa shape.) there is more to an artist than that. and, do you think for a minute that he isn’t being promoted big-time? he IS great at musical THEATER but is that what american idol is about? Apparently; these days edgier=better…

PS | 7/7/2009, 1:30 am EST

Adam is great, no doubt but his set was very very theatrical! I felt Kris was the one who gave the crowd a live CONCERT show!

Dorena | 7/7/2009, 1:32 am EST

The videos with Adam were amazing & Adam is hot. I especially loved the Let’s Dance part of the David Bowie medley. Adam is out of this world incredible. Can’t wait to see him in Phoenix!!!

KJapanfan | 7/7/2009, 1:41 am EST

Kris Allen The American Idol RULES!

His music is haunting!

LOve Kris from Japan!

bebe | 7/7/2009, 2:25 am EST

Clothes on or clothes off, Adam is sexy from the inside out. I love that he’s showing us more of himself–his body, his dance moves. He’s fearless in every way and I love him for it.

butterball | 7/7/2009, 2:47 am EST

Whatz up with the comments about Adam’s weight. He’s fuckin gorgeous…shit, he’s beautiful. Skinny does not equal Hot people!

Adam is sexxxy! Has an awesome body and his dance moves can cause an adamgasm! FOR REAL.

KICK BRICKS HATERS!

1. You said you find is suprising that people find Adam sexy. Adam is sexy to A LOT of people, both women and men. His appeal is universal. He may not be to you, but I personally don’t find body builders sexy. Adam has the full package of looks, personality and talent and THAT is why he is sexy.
2. “There is more to an artist than that.” You’re damn right there is! And HE’S GOT IT ALL, as I just mentioned.
3. “He IS great at musical THEATER but is that what american idol is about? Apparently; these days edgier=better…” It’s true, Idol has traditionally been about cookie cutter artists. But Adam is the breakout, out-of-the-box “Wild Idol” who defied everything that Idol was about. He CHANGED Idol forever. Good for him to use the Idol platform to gain the attention of the world and wake us the hell up! As far as theatrics goes, I say “BRING IT ON!!” Legions of us WANT Adam to bring back the drama of great performing music artists, in the tradition of Bowie, Plant, Mercury, and yes, the greatest “theatrical” pop music artist of our times, Michael Jackson. Some of us want that level of performance back on the music scene!!! We’re tired of settling for less.

Zel | 7/7/2009, 3:56 am EST

Scott was a surprise, I thought he was great.

Matt hit 2 out of 3 out of the ball park.

Allison is a real rock star the likes we have not seen in a long time. Bring back that great rock hon. Age 17 amazing!

Danny’s preacher like tone in his Uhmmm pep talk ruined it for me.

Adam OMFG at 68 years old Ive seen some great entertainers and listened to some fantastic voices but few had them both.

I was worried for Kris but I thought he finished the show well. Hey Jude was a good choice to engage the crowd. It was a calm respect in the seats above the floor. Everyone stood for the entire Adam set and to welcome Kris but all were soon seated for the remainder of Kris’s set.

Rob | 7/7/2009, 4:18 am EST

Adam has worked really hard for years to train his instrument (his voice), and it is exquisite. Musical experts attest to his perfect technique and consider his voice opera-worthy. I am no expert, I only love to listen to his lovely voice. We all know by now that he did not get a record deal earlier because the execs don’t want to develop talent, they want to cash in fast and only want to invest money in somebody who already has a fan base. Well, Adam’s got a formidable fan base now. He paid his dues, never gave up, he deserves it.

Janet | 7/7/2009, 4:29 am EST

Adam’s set was great but he should have left the jacket on. He’s chubby around the middle with a paunch and that tank top really shows it. His gut was actually hanging over his pants. Not attractive! He seems very aware of his appearance and how to present himself well so I was a little suprised. He needs to keep the jacket on or lay off the ice cream and do more sit-ups!

Stephanie mayo | 7/7/2009, 4:48 am EST

I listened on the cellcast and watched the many vids. OMG Adam’s set was the best ever. I cannot wait for the Arizona show!

Adam fat? That is the silliest thing I have read. Hes getting way too skinny :( When he took off the jacket he looked fab, and the dancing was to die for.

I’m sorry, I don’t like my people fake or photoshopped. Real people don’t look like they are dying of starvation, and sexiness comes from the inside.

Those “sexy” people in mags are only “sexy” due to photography and photoshopping. Odds are, if you actually met them they would be very unattractive, which is why very few end up in any other form of media.

Adam is dynamic and his whole being makes up his “sexyness” not some silly idea of rock hard or sunken in abs.

Get over your brainwashing and love yourself, stop trying to meet some silly “ideal” that doesn’t even exist in real life.

All those who say he's fat... | 7/7/2009, 5:40 am EST

…I agree. But you spelt his name wrong – it’s spelt M-I-C-H-A-E-L S-A-R-V-E-R. He’s also a talentless, ugly, ignorant turn-off.

One UK Fan | 7/7/2009, 7:24 am EST

Seems majority of negative opinion of Adam’s performance is “too theatrical”. But I have to ask you, is it bad thing? Everybody agrees that he can sing, have an insane voice, now top on that he gave us a drama. I don’t think he gave us a short change by doing that. Do you want your idol to just stand a middle of the stage and sing? Look at Madonna, Cher, Pink and don’t forget Qeen – they all put a fantastic production withh a lot of theatrical elements. Look at the music video, even hard roker pretend to be someone in the video … some does better than others and Adam does it like a fitted shoes. I guess it comes down to your preference and tast. We love drama and theatrical in London, therefore we love Adam even more for the fact.

Kee-loves-noop | 7/7/2009, 7:59 am EST

Adam’s fans make you hate Adam. Some of them are the nastiest POS around. I read a lot of their comments and I am surprised at how nasty many of Adam’s fans are.

If you’re going to correct someone, at least use correct spelling. It’s ’spelled’, not ’spelt’. Please try to hide your ignorance better.

One UK Fan | 7/7/2009, 8:34 am EST

Yes, I have to agree with you there. Some of Adam fans are misguided devotees who can not see a tree in the woods. (misguided by not knowing difference between unhealthy obsession and devotion). It is not helping Adam at all in the respect and will make Adam unattractive to the potential future fans who can help him to achieve his dream. Don’t take an offence because I am a big fan of Adam, too. I only wish him the best and long successful career. We must keep our cool to support Adam the best way for HIM not for our own desires and egos.

wtdp | 7/7/2009, 8:44 am EST

I read all these comments and can only think about the one with Adam stripping on the pole if he got any encouragement. AND YOU SAY THIS LIKE IT’S A BAD THING? I would mortgage the house to see that.

An Adam Fan in UK | 7/7/2009, 9:12 am EST

All of the Top 10 idols are talented, but Adam is the special one.Adam’s performance in the Portland concert shown on the internet had just confirmed that he is a worldwide star.
After the Portland concert, ‘Adam Lambert’ was one of the Top 10 Twitter Trending Topic for many hours on 5th July and 6th July.
By the way Adam is not fat. He is tall, classy and beautiful!

Andrea | 7/7/2009, 9:46 am EST

Adam, you electrify my life. your live performace was super crazy & million time better than watiching you on TV.

I couldn’t sleep & kept thinking about how sexuallly overwhelming your Whole Lotta Love was, just PURE HOT SEX! The Starlight was flawlessly beatiful; your voice was too good to be true & I love love love the Bowie’s Medley when you sliped in & out of falsetto, so brillient!

From this moment on, it would be a MAD WORLD without Adam. Can’t wait for your full concert.

laurie243 | 7/7/2009, 10:59 am EST

Have to laugh at the people who say Adam’s set is too short. He and Kris have the longest sets in the show! Adam is fantastic,a dn he definitely rocked in in Portland. But people need to understand that this is NOT Adam’s solo tour. That comes later.

Also have to laugh at people who called Kris’ set one note. Um…no…Heartless, Ain’t No Sunshine…Bright Lights…Hey Jude? Nothing one note about that set.

Loved Allison and was impressed with Anoop and Matt.

One last thing…I’m not a Danny fan, but he sounded great in the tour opener. I would ask him NOT to preach at the audience though. I’m at a concert…not in church! That speech of his — yuck.

LC, 23 | 7/7/2009, 11:39 am EST

”Goth kids, soccer moms and diehard Idol junkies”

Erm, did you even attend…? I am neither of the above and nor were most of the arena lol. Wth?

Jermaine | 7/7/2009, 11:41 am EST

GOKEY’S PREACHING WAS HILARIOUS. It went on for about 15 mins!!!!!!

Rys | 7/7/2009, 11:45 am EST

Lambert’s Whole Lotta Love was REALLY good. Seriously. No one comes close to Plant yet his vocals blew me away on that. Chills man. His Slowride duet with Allison was also EPIC. Really, really epic. Starlight was just ok for me. Kudos to the live band as well. They did one hell of a job.

Sacha bk | 7/7/2009, 11:49 am EST

Adam is sooo skinny and tall in person. Watch his latest LA Times interview with Lil and the other backstage tour vid with Megan if you haven’t seen him in person.

A Glam Fan | 7/7/2009, 11:52 am EST

I love Adam! He had me at Satisfaction and kept me glued to my set the entire Idol Season. But it’s some of the Adam fans that may ruin it for future Adam fans. If there is remotely any critique of him…You Attack. Think..would Adam want us to do that?? You can turn and say some pretty vicious things about the other Idols. Do you think “they” don’t have fans that love them as much as we do Adam? There were alot of good performances that night, they are a great group. It’s all a matter of personal taste. I’ts okay for us to idolize Adam, but not at the expense of other idols. What happens when you put someone to high on a pedestal, you make others find their flaws. I plan to enjoy the whole idol concert and look forward to Adam’s personal one.

The Who | 7/7/2009, 11:56 am EST

Adam was sooo f-n good!!!! OMFG, you need to see him live. As was Allison! And Kris did a good job of closing the show. Matt and Scott’s duelling piano segment was also awesome.

Tatum, 21 | 7/7/2009, 12:07 pm EST

A few certain crazy Adam stans (namely the ones who call themselves Glamberts…cringe!) who obsessively post over and over and over again on every Adam related article realllllly show his fans up. You lot give us a bad name. Please for the sake of Adam, just STOP! :3 You don’t need to defend and attack so ridiculously! You sound like same embarassing group who attached themselves to Clay, Hicks, Castro.

Adam’s got a pretty ginoromous Inrternational fanbase – not all of us are American Idol junkies and/or old crazies but you lot are so freaking vocal you automatically represent all his fans. Reminds me of the crazy MJ fans a little. And Adam deserves way, way better.

Loon | 7/7/2009, 12:12 pm EST

I read Adam stuff but rarely post comments. There are over 50000 NORMAL people in the snarky comm who like Adam. We should start posting to balance out all the Idol lunatics giving us a bad name. Ugh…

Trish | 7/7/2009, 12:16 pm EST

Adam was PURE HOT SEX. Can’t stop smiling when watching him perform & Can’t wait for his full concert.

Tilla | 7/7/2009, 12:18 pm EST

Love Adam. Hate the crazies. You know the ones lol. ”Adam is a superstar!!!! Adam is like no other!!!! Adam is the next Freddie!!!! I am a mother of 12 and I haven’t felt like this since Elvis!!!! You still do it for me baby!!”

I mean, I’m happy for you that someone came along who gives you some excitement but please, TMI lmao.

Seriously though, way to show Adam and his fans up :X

Kat | 7/7/2009, 12:54 pm EST

Yor’re my soal sister Tilla. Watiching Adam just give me a very strange sexual thrill! The boy just does it for me. My friends & I (all professional) are waiting for Adam’s concert…so that we can give Adam a real rock star treatment by throwing our panties on stage.

Anonymous | 7/7/2009, 1:12 pm EST

Loon, Tilla – I am with you. We claim that Adam is a generous classy artist, so let us to be a classy fan worth having. Adam would like to be adored but at the same time he is an artist and performer therefore I am sure he will appreciate a few constructed opinions/ feedback of his performances. Blind faith can be dangerous. He has departed from familiar territory of theatre and just made an importance first step outside of AI , so let’s stand by him and watch over him.

I too find Adam’s Whole lotta Love super sexy hot hot hot & better that oral sex.

Anonymous | 7/7/2009, 4:52 pm EST

LOL SEX SEX SEX that is all Adam fans talked about.

Adam is a gay. I could understand gay men fantasize him.

For straight men and women, does Adam have sex with his gay lover turning you on? A new research project is coming in.

T | 7/7/2009, 4:53 pm EST

But, Adam’s best is Madworld..so haunting, just can’t explaint it.

terie D. | 7/7/2009, 5:05 pm EST

I’m past the age of live concert going, so I got a glimpse of the Portland concert via ytube. All the Idols seemed to be much more relaxed than they were on the show and really gave some great performances (some better than others). Allison was “spectacular” for a girl of her age & seemed so seasoned on that stage. Her duet with Adam was as pleasing as it was on Idol, though longer & “more rock”. ADAM was in his element, as I KNEW he would be and even though I was not familiar with some of his songs, he sang them in a way that made me feel as though I had heard them before (Starlight, David Bowie medley….(heard Fame before). He is such a consummate performer and uber-talented that you could not help being entertained. Kris Allen seemed to entertain the crowd as well and his “Hey, Jude” was marvelous. Even the group finale was good. All in all, had I been able to attend this concert, I feel as though I would come away feeling “I GOT MY MONEY’S WORTH and THEN SOME”. GREAT JOB IDOLS!!!!

Vut | 7/7/2009, 5:36 pm EST

Adam, you’re so brilliant & sexy. Can’t wait for you real concert. Hope your album is rock through because only a true genious can conquer rock & roll.

Anonymous | 7/7/2009, 5:45 pm EST

Totally agree, Adam was so brillient. I hope his album is rock too because his voice best for rock & roll. Pluse, his charisma is made for a rock god.

TK | 7/7/2009, 5:57 pm EST

Whatever Adam’s music will be, I will support him. He has brought so much joy & excitement to me. Adam is one true genious. Just cant’ wait for his album.

Love you Adam,

Andrew | 7/7/2009, 6:07 pm EST

Yeah, why can’t Adam’s album be out tomorrow…..So that I have something to look forward to before I go to bed tonight. Like other Adam’s fans said, it would be a Madworld without Adam from now on.

Katarina | 7/7/2009, 7:35 pm EST

Oh, Adam! I love you so so much. I love your choice to sing Starlight; it’s like you’re talking to us. You’re just like the Starlight that elctrify my life & promise not to fade away!

Carrie | 7/7/2009, 8:13 pm EST

I just want an ADAM LAMBERT concert!

Carrie | 7/7/2009, 8:14 pm EST

Adam is brilliant, beautiful, and the BEST!!!!!!!!!!

SPOREGLAMBERT | 7/7/2009, 10:04 pm EST

We in Spore loves Adam Lambert’s showmanship. In Asia like Korea, Taiwan, China etc, Asian artistes take great efforts to put on their best glamorous dramatic shows for their fans. And we reciprocate.
I love your American Idol, Adam Lambert. His Mad World has been NO. ONE in out top 30 countdown for weeks now. It escalated to top spot in just 2 days. His No BOundaries is No. 3. Whereas Kris Heartless is No. 5 and NB is No. 10. These are the only 2 songs we can hear in our radio here.
But I don’t get it why Kris’ fans are always trying to find fault with Adam and his fans. :(

Int'l Fan | 7/7/2009, 10:08 pm EST

I will fly to USA when it is Adam’s solo concert. I’m sure I will read about that in the media. :)

Dee | 7/7/2009, 10:13 pm EST

I haven’t yet seen the show but, just as with the Davids nonsense last year, I find the Adam/Kris nonsense just as confusing. Where does the hatred come from? Does anyone actually listen to the Idols sing? What were you doing for 5 months of weekly Idol shows? To a point it is a matter of taste but how can you not recognize that all made the top 10 for a reason? Yes, Adam has a beautiful voice. Unfortunately he sounds, to me, like a cat fight when he tries to hit those high notes. I think he misses them more than he hits them. When he sings without the screaming I could listen for hours. Kris demonstrated his talent week after on Idol with little credit from the judges. He doesn’t assault my ears with the caterwauling that some do. I think his arrangements are amazing and unique. I think he did deserve the title more than anyone else; despite the show’s blatant attempts to get the finale and winner that they wanted. Anyway, relax folks. There are people starving and dying in the world. This isn’t the be-all and end-all of life. It is entertainment. Enjoy it!

Int'l Fan | 7/7/2009, 10:15 pm EST

I Love Adam’s fans here and everywhere all over the world. What’s wrong with showing passion for one’s idol. We do not have to be secret fans.
I love watching the videos of his fans. Love makes the world go round right.

terie D. | 7/7/2009, 11:09 pm EST

To BECKY………What is “fakely”??? Must have something to do with your hearing because you couldn’t possibly be referring to ADAM!!!!

HIL | 7/8/2009, 1:39 am EST

Dee:

It definitely comes down to taste. Yes, Kris showed his talent week after week, but that talent is something I’ve seen million times before. Music Industry is full of artists like him, and quite frankly most of them are better than him. His good, but not so good that it would get me excited in any way. However, I love his personality. He’s one of the sweetest “celebs” out there. Unfortunately that isn’t enough to get me to buy his album.

I listened to the Portland cellcast, and seen the U2B vids, Adam and Allison rocked the house! They were amazing.

Yes, straight women get hot and bothered by this gay man, because he’s so beautiful, inside and out. Like he said, beauty is a beauty, no matter where it comes from. In fact, I never think of his sexuality when I see him, I just know he’s hot! He’s born with this magnetism that most straight men only wishes they posses. And he can sing, too. WOW!!!

Wow, Rolling Stone, you sure can tell who you were backing! With all the links and mentions of Adam, one would be hard pressed to realize that Kris Allen actually won the competition. I’m an Adam fan too, but I prefer Allison and Kris. A little less bias, please.

This is for Dee-you are sick. How can you say Adam does not hit the notes when they are high. He always sounds great. Adam is by far the best they have ever had and in most cases better than some of the professionals. Kris is a cute guy but, a little boring at times. Adam has people glued to just him and want him to sing more and mre. Good luck to both Adam and Kris.

I hope this puts to rest the fat or not fat idiotfest that is going on all the forums:
ADAM IS NOT PERFECT. And you know what folks? That makes him even more attractive than if he was some buffed up obsessive gym rat. He projects a raw, aggressive sexuality that trancends all imperfection and drives anyone, with even half a molecule of a sex drive left- absolutely nuts.
So there. Now get off the fat train please.

Birsen | 7/10/2009, 12:49 pm EST

Thanks RS for posting news about my IDOL- Adam Lambert. He is simply GREAT!

Blake | 7/12/2009, 1:50 am EST

Adam was great!

I loved “Starlight” it was my favorite of the night.

I have never watched Idol – my girlfriend dragged me to the concert…and it was exactly what I thought it would be…until Adam Lambert..wow.. we didn’t stay for the last guy though she only wanted to see Adam Lambert…I am a 25 year old man in love..with a man! lol (Don’t tell my gf I’m on here googling everything Adam – or my friends..does this make me a fantard?)

I didn’t care for the preachy guy at all.

Kris Allen blew me away with his new song on the tour “All These Things”!

Love Kris!

gaga | 7/13/2009, 1:57 am EST

Kris rocks on the tour.

He is better and better each time.
I think people like me really appreciate the huge growth potential of Kris and voted him as American Idol 2009

Vicky | 7/13/2009, 10:28 am EST

OMFG, Adam You’re freakin amazing!!! Whole Lotta Lave is pure sex hot hot hot!!! You just does it for me, boy. I couldn’t stop smiling until now. Mad World was so haunting!!! You made me feel so alive!!! LOVE YOU.

Jane | 7/13/2009, 10:44 am EST

In deed, ADAM is a bona fide rockstar. No one has made me this excited ever. Totally, agree that Whole Lotta Love is soooooo sexy! better than oral sex!

Amy | 7/13/2009, 11:05 am EST

ADAM, I can’t even put into words how much joy you’ve brought to me. Just crazy crazy feeling cause I can’t stop thinking about you. Look forward to your full concert!

Tisha | 7/13/2009, 11:58 am EST

ADAM! YOU’RE GOING TO BE UP THERE WITH THE GREATEST ENTERTAINERS OF ALL TIME, JUST YOU WAIT!!! YOU’RE ELECTRIFYING!!!

Kelly | 7/13/2009, 2:48 pm EST

I think its hilarious that straight men keep saying the same thing — i.e why are straight women turned on by a gay man? For goodness sakes- we like what we see and hear and it turns us on. Your hormones ignore whether the person is gay or staight. Adam is a very attractive, sytlish, talented sexy, sexy, sexy man, plain and simple. I am sure there are men who have been turned on by some gay women- like maybe Portia di Rossi. i think the straight men must just be jealous of all the attention Adam is getting.

Just a fan | 7/14/2009, 12:54 pm EST

I’m an Adam fan, but holy crap! What people should be talking about is Allison! Her vocals are AMAZING, and she is only seventeen. I wish people would give her a little more credit, she is very talented. I think she and Adam will both have successful careers.

Mary | 7/14/2009, 9:06 pm EST

I’m totally obsessed with Adam. There’s something about that boy that is driving so many of us crazy. Wow!

Except for Whole Lotta Love and Mad World, I’m not a fan of any of the other songs our boy chose for the tour. I only hope that his album is full of songs like the ones he performed on Idol. Starlight is pure schmaltz and the Bowie medley is dated and boring.

Please don’t think I’m not a fan. I love him. I could watch his AI performances for hours every day. I’m just a little worried about his choices of songs.

DISGUSTED in ORLANDO | 7/15/2009, 10:08 am EST

I am SO DISGUSTED that all you Adam fans can do is talk about SEX SEX SEX – are you all THAT DEPRIVED and/or DEPRAVED? All the guy does is SCREECH! And the guy needs to GET TO THE GYM! Ultimately, he couldn’t care less about women! So don’t hold your breath! DISGUSTING! I wish we could lock you all up in your own concert with Adam Alone ~ so we could enjoy Idol and all the others who are more NORMAL! Even our kids can’t attend this X-RATED ADAM SHOW! What is WRONG with this picture! ADAM GO HOME TO BROADWAY!!!!!!!!

Former Idol Fan | 7/15/2009, 10:15 am EST

I agree, this year, with Adam Lambert in the mix, has a lot of people turned off to Idol! All he needs is a POLE ~ and maybe that male stripper from Season 7! It’s disgusting! And Elvis he is NOT! Yes Adam, go back to BROADWAY, or the Garden of Eden. And yes, HELL is HOT too, but you won’t be partying there!

Zippy | 7/15/2009, 7:36 pm EST

Adam Lambert is the next big big superstar, I couldn’t stay in my seat when he was onstage, he was electric, and the audience was nuts.

I feel alright | 7/19/2009, 6:41 am EST

Uh, regarding the setlist — “Hard to Handle” should be attributed to Otis Redding, not the Black Crowes.

ShahramFayaz | 7/19/2009, 6:54 pm EST

WoW! The Ontario Cali concert was so fun. They all put on such a great show and took their time after the concert to sign pictures. Thanks to the 6 of them I got ahold of to sign my jeans lol. A lot of the idols stood out, but Adam Lambert was exceptional. He is a true entertainer. The singing, dancing, piano and guitar use on stage.. they are so multi-talented. Thanks for an awesome night!

wicked glitter | 7/20/2009, 10:22 pm EST

omg Adam Lambert just gets better and better with each new performance. He sounds and looks stronger than ever. I’m so excited about the concert in Auburn Hills!

Bobbi | 7/22/2009, 4:05 am EST

YAY FOR ADAM! Greensboro August 2! I’m so excited; Adam is singing some of my favorite songs (yes, BOWIE!!!)!! I absolutely love him and and getting out my glitter:)

Melanie | 7/30/2009, 9:27 pm EST

I mean, I’m getting out my glitter! Can’t wait:)

Melanie | 7/30/2009, 9:37 pm EST

For all the HATERS:
Get a life. Find something you LIKE, rather than posting trash about something you don’t. Adam is amazingly talented and has a ton of fans! He’ll be right up there with the rest of music royalty: MJ, Madonna, Bowie, and so many more talented legends. I can’t wait for a tour that ADAM headlines! I can’t wait for his album and I’m so excited to see what his amazing career will bring.
