“Here is the second song from The Velvet Underground & Nico, in which everyone untunes their instruments and Nigel [Godrich, Radiohead producer] thrashes a DX-7, coaxing sounds hitherto unheard from the ’80s power ballad beast,” the Modern Guilt singer writes on his refurbished Website, which incorrectly labeled the song “Waiting For My Man” in their post. Next week, Beck and his Record Club will perform <>VU & Nico’s “Femme Fatale,” allowing Icelandic singer Thorunn Magnusdottir to tackle the role of Nico. Beck has had some previous experience covering the song, as fan site Whiskeyclone writes that the singer used to play the song live in concert in the early 2000s.

I think this is great. He’s not trying to re-record the album, he’s re-conceiving and reinventing it.

Please give Beck more money, so he can afford to attain the highest levels of my ‘church’.

Man, I love Beck and the VU, but this was borderline unlistenable. Hopefully this is just a misstep and the end product will actually be worth hearing.
