Michael Jackson Reportedly Hospitalized After Cardiac Arrest

Michael Jackson has been taken by ambulance to a Los Angeles hospital after reportedly going into cardiac arrest, TMZ reports. The 911 call from Jackson’s Holmby Hills home was placed at 12:21 p.m. PST. No other details are known as yet, but Jackson’s mother is reportedly already on the way to the hospital. Jackson is in “really bad shape,” an unspecified family member told TMZ, while Jackson’s father Joe told the site, “He is not doing well.” Los Angeles Fire Department Captain Steve Ruda told L.A. TV station KTLA that Jackson wasn’t breathing when paramedics arrived; they performed CPR and took Jackson to UCLA Medical Center.

Jackson is in the Los Angeles area for rehearsals for his upcoming 50-show This Is It! run of concerts at London’s O2 Arena. As Rolling Stone reported, sources say Jackson has been absent from many rehearsals, with a stand-in required to take his place. While no reasons were given for why Jackson might be missing the rehearsals, questions regarding the King of Pop’s health have dogged the Thriller singer for years.

Thus far, the four opening This Is It! shows have been postponed due to the “massive and technically complex” nature of the shows and not because of Jackson’s health, a rep for AEG Live, who is staging the O2 concerts, told Rolling Stone. No official confirmation or statement regarding TMZ’s report was available at press time.

Considering Michael’s history of health-related troubles, this heart attack could spell some serious trouble.

People are wondering how it’s possible to suffer a cardiac arrest so young, but it seems like everyone’s forgotten just what sort of health problems Michael has faced over the last two decades.

My heart hurts thinking about this; I grew up listening to him sing and watching him dance and I have never seen a performer who radiated such pure joy or sheer exuberance or complete emotion in their work.

He inspired me as he has inspired others and I really hope he makes it through.

What does one say? This is a sad, sick man (and I use the term lightly…) who has led a sad, sick life. It’s hard to find anything positive to say. Should this be the end of the line for MJ, I can’t say I would be surprised. His lifestyle and his insane addiction to plastic surgery and oddball “health” practices have taken their toll.

Perhaps all one can say is maybe, should this be a fatal heart attack, he will find some sort of peace. Maybe.

I felt bad for him always trying to defend his self right due to these charges that were never actually proved. He had to live a life for all these years in fear of what his audience thought. I agreee a true shocker, I actually cried. I grew up with this man watching him on videos since he was a young child. I watched The Jacksons cartoon. He had a troubled life. He needed rest. Such a terrible shame. I hope he is finally at peace and I never believed he did such things to a child, ever.
