Wondering if Billy Corgan really replaced longtime Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlain with a 19-year-old rocker? Ask him yourself … over a nice lunch. Charity Buzz is auctioning off the chance to dine with Corgan in Los Angeles or Chicago. The catch: the “winner” gets to foot the bill. The meal is “Valid for 2 people at a mutually convenient time. Restaurant TBD,” according to the official listing, which was confirmed by a post on Smashing Pumpkins’ Website. The auction ends in five days and three hours (as of this posting), on June 30th at 1:17 p.m. ET. Eight bids so far have driven the price up to $950.

Proceeds from the bidding benefit the Songwriters Hall of Fame, which is raising money to build a museum in New York “to highlight the achievements of songwriting greats and acknowledge their rightful place in our culture,” per their listing on Charity Buzz. Last week, Jon Bon Jovi and Crosby, Stills and Nash were inducted into the Hall at a ceremony in New York.

Wondering if Billy Corgan is a bigger douche in person than in concert?

mikeky | 6/25/2009, 11:23 am EST

Well, since the ‘winner gets to foot the bill’, then yes. Yes, he is just as big a douche in person as he is in concert.

i am the biggest smashing pumpkins fan in the world and i have been so disappointed in billy’s actions, words, and music lately.. i don’t understand why he would act like such an ass even his biggest supporters don’t like him anymore.. the pumpkins are dead, all that’s left is “the billy corgan experience”.. saddest thing ever :(

bratty naty | 6/25/2009, 1:35 pm EST

oh, and what is up with the “charity” this auction is benefiting? the songwriters hall of fame? they really couldn’t think of someone who actually needed help? you would think egotistical asshole rockstars like billy would be more than happy to fork up the money to build a monument to themselves!

HA HA HA….

LR | 6/25/2009, 1:53 pm EST

That’s not even true, Billy would buy lunch for the winner. It is a good thing he is doing for charity. Give the guy a break! Geez!

I will buy him a nice plate of Shut the Fuck up with a side of Respect Your Fans. I used to dig the music so much but Billy has seemingly gone out of his way to destroy himself.

BillyRAWKS | 6/25/2009, 3:01 pm EST

Billy is always about doing things for charity and now he is getting his fans involved with that too! What’s the harm? He is a sweetheart and would be doing the lucky fan a favor by having lunch and giving this person some wisdom!!
God Bless you Billy!!

Greendale | 6/25/2009, 3:40 pm EST

Why the hell would you want to spend an afternoon with this guy? Even his biggest fans would admit he acts like a major douche..

LR | 6/25/2009, 3:54 pm EST

If someone thinks he is a douche then they are obviously not a fan.
Billy is a good person who is unfortunately misunderstood by a lot of people.

Really Now | 6/25/2009, 4:11 pm EST

The Songwriters Hall of Fame is not a charity by any stretch of the imagination. And Billy Corgan should be a spokesman for Summers’ Eve.

oh yeah | 6/25/2009, 4:44 pm EST

I heard Summer’s Eve was sponsoring the new Pumpkins tour

Jeff | 6/25/2009, 5:44 pm EST

I’d rather jack off with sandpaper than have to sit through a meal with this self-righteous asshat.

BillyRAWKS | 6/25/2009, 7:38 pm EST

wow to these hater mouths! I would rather skip lunch with folks like you. I don’t hear Billy bad mouthing people? But you do? what makes you so much better than him?? Is he running around talking bad about you? What goes a round comes around-just remember that when things don’t go your way!! Karma-ever heard of it?

FIXED “Terms: Includes: Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins will treat the winner and their guest to lunch in LA or Chicago. Valid for two people with Billy at a mutually convenient time. Restaurant TBD”

The original copy of the auction was not approved by Billy Corgan and now it has been fixed. He always intended to pay for the lunch. BC does some screwy things, but his isn’t as bad as this article portrays him. Critics really jump at the chance to bring Corgan down. Rolling Stone should correct this.
