I’m getting annoyed by people on all these forum/comment pages. yes people are entitled to their own opinion… but jeez give the girl a break and try the band out. They actually sound very good. 1. they are going to sound similar to Evanescence because you have 3 former members of Evanescence… and 2. She is not Amy Lee. She is Carly. She is a completely different person compared to Amy Lee. But she is a talented musician. Stop giving her so much grief.

I don’t really get the disapproval. I had a friend tell me that she feels like Carly is stealing Amy’s band. Seriously? That’s just getting silly. I think it sounds good so far.

Evanescence is a band and this band is ANOTHER band, and please don’t compare Amy lee with that woman.

I think the issue that a lot of Ev fans have with this band isn’t that Carly isn’t Amy Lee, it’s the comments made by Ben. He’s the one who stated that this band was going to be (and I’m paraphrasing) bigger and more democratic than Evanescence. If none of this had anything to do with taking shots at Amy, then why bring Ev into it? Why have your new front woman perform Ev tracks? Their claims that this isn’t some kind of petty slap at Evanescence rings hollow. I do feel sorry for Carly. She’s very talented and deserves a chance to shine without being caught in the middle of the petty personal war that Ben, John and Rocky have insisted on continuing. For her sake I hope they grow up, move on and enjoy some success.

I am a huge Evanescence fan and i just really feel bad for Carly Smithson. She has a beautiful voice and i just see ben using her to fulfill his dream of what Evanescence could have been. and i use that in the past tense for a reason. Evanescence is completely different from this sound. But the world has already seen this. He should be bolstering Carly and (we are)the fallen to be something different. Even the band name is a hint to Fallen (evanescence’s debut album), not that i think people didnt catch that. Its hard for me to not think Ben moody, john lecompt and rocky gray arent pathetic in their hatred towards what happened because this musical endeavor is just going to be them expressing their Hatred For Amy Lee. Its like the “I Hate Amy Lee and Here’s why” band. Its fuckin pathetic. and it really sucks that the music is so similar to Evanescence’s Fallen. hahah, it’s funny. we all know what ben feels about Evanescence… he’s jelaous. If he wants to ‘have a band’, OK, find, but using an Evanescence’s song? it’s funny. Amy has a PERFECT voice, and without her Evanescence would die when Ben left them. So, i don’t care this band, i don’t care if they are trying to be like Evanescence, if they have to look like Evanescence to sell and make people pay attention to them. Ben claims that this has nothing to do with getting revenge on Amy, but the direction he seems to be taking with the band tells an ENTIRELY different story. Why on earth does he think that people want a second-rate version of an existing band? It’s no coincidence that he got an Amy-lookalike who also kinda sounds like her. It’s also no coincidence that “We Are The Fallen” takes its name from Evanescence’s debut album. And now, at one of their first gigs as a band, they perform an Evanescence song. How pathetic. They really shouldn’t be surprised if their record goes nowhere. Because if you were already in a famous band and you don’t want to be labeled as second fiddle to the original, than try BEING original. You don’t see Velvet Revolver being an obvious ripoff of Guns N’ Roses. Of course Velvet Revolver will never touch GNR’s legacy, but nor should they try to. You have to do your own thing. I’ve been waiting for another album with the same punch as “Fallen”, but knew it would never happen with the “post-Ben” Evanescence. I, for one, am glad that the core of the band has been resurrected and found a great talen to front them. Carly Smithson has a strong voice and is the perfect complement to Ben and company’s music. I downloaded “Bury Me Alive” last night and was duly impressed with the song. I’m looking forward to more from this band, and wish them every success.

1. I don’t see why people feel they have to be on one side or the other. You can like both bands, there’s no reason why you can’t. It’s not like Amy’s going to bar you from any future Evanescence concerts because you listen to WATF. Well, she might…

2. They performed an Evanescence song because those songs are just as much theirs as they are Amy’s. Those guys wrote those songs too and have a right to use them as they want.

3. They do have orignal songs, lots of them.

4. Ben was the heart of the Evanescence sound. Did any of you even listen to The Open Door? It was awful. Ben had already departed, and neither John nor Rocky got to write anything on that album; by that point it had already stopped being a band. We Are the Fallen is their chance to take the band in the direction they would have if they could have.

5. They have gone on to do other things. Ben has produced and made music with various other musicians; John and Rocky were both part of Mourningside and currently part of Machina, as well as Soul Embrace and Living Sacrifice. They haven’t been lurking around the last 2 or 3 years brooding over Amy Lee. But this oppurtunity has opened up for them and they have taken it. None of you could say that you wouldn’t either, especially when you have families to support.

6. We Are The Fallen is the most appropiate name I could think of for these guys. Yes, it is an allusion to the debut album from Evanescence, but it also describes how they were all tossed aside by her royal highness. Rocky and Ben left willingly, but not after Amy broke them down. John was blindsided, bascially because he would not give in to Amy’s over-inflated ego.

This band sounds like it was thrown together irrationally and with poor planning- which accounts for the lack of originality. a waste of time that will soon be forgotten. They need EV songs because they don’t have their own material.

When I first heard that Carly Smithson (who I had always liked from American Idol) was going to be heading a band with three former Evanescence members (who I have loved since I first heard Fallen and loved even more after hearing The Open Door), I was excited to hear what they could do. When the song premiered, I couldn’t get it from their website even though I signed up about three minutes after it went up. So I ran to youtube to hear it. My first thought was that it was boring, but after a while it grew on me. I would be able to enjoy this song a hell of a lot more if it weren’t for Ben claiming that this has nothing to do with Evanescence, and then turning around and throwing insults at them before covering them up with compliments, like when he said that Amy was just posing as Evanescence with some hired henchman as their replacements and then turning around and saying that she is a great singer, songwriter, and lead woman of a rock band. He just wants to be famous but he comes across as a wannabe has-been. And then there’s Carly, stuck in the middle of this. All she wanted was to front a rock band, but instead she is pulled into this vortex of Ben’s jealousy. As I see it, there is one of two things that will happen.
1) Ben will end up tearing this band apart like he did Evanescence and they won’t be able to regroup as well because they don’t have Amy Lee.
2) Ben will grow up and let Carly and the rest of the band flourish in their newfound careers Evanescence free while Ev. continues to create music. There IS room in the world for these two bands.

If Ev still has the same sound, it’s because Amy Lee sought out musicians who could play like John, Rocky, and Ben. So really… who’s copying who?

Carly sounds a lot more like Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil than Amy Lee. I think The Fallen’s music will probably sound closer to Lacuna Coil than being a repeat of Evanescence, as everyone is expecting. Who knows, these guys seem to be pretty good, I mean this performance certainly wasn’t too shabby, so I think we should give them a shot, don’t you think?

I think it’s crazy that people have to bash. She isn’t Amy Lee no, BUT she is herself. They are both talented women with beautiful voices. But they are two different people. What would you do if you were in her shoes? Turn Ben and everyone else down? Seriously people. Let her be….I like both bands, but all this commotion is making me dislike Evanescence more and I don’t want that to happen. I’m not the only one out there that’s saying that, trust me.

Why do i get the feeling that this band’s biggest purpose is to just slap amy lee across the face. carly smithson is great but shes got nothing on amy.

I like the sound they have, I think the worst thing they could do though is to be covering songs from Evanescence, especially if they are stating they are not trying to sound like them.

Any band that comes these days with a female lead singer is compared to Amy Lee, even though they typically do have there own sound. This band is former members of EV. but the chick singing for them is a sound her own. Grant it she should not be covering songs that Amy Lee sung in order to avoid the comparison, maybe they should have waited to unveil the new band when they could perform all original material instead of covering Ev. songs!

I have to say this is ridiculous. I’m a huge fan of Evanescence, so when I heard about this band We are the Fallen, with original members from Ev, I did not like it. It seems pretty obvious to me that Ben is jealous, and just wants revenge to “get even.” I’m not a fan of Carly, or her voice, but I do feel sorry that she’s been pulled into this mess. She deserves to go solo and have her own career. I’ll give this band a chance, but so far I am not liking it. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out with both bands releasing new material very soon.

I love the first Evanescence album “Fallen”,It is the best album I’ve ever listened to. “The Open Door” was failure for me, so I dare to think that it was Ben who did all the best in Evanescence. Well, at first i was glad to hear that the ev’boys were back. But I gotta say that I don’t really like the sound and something missing with the lead singer voice. To bad that they are doing a rip of the band evanescence, trying to sound alike, to bring a girl and dressed her as Amy and even taking a name (Fallen) that soundslike Evanescence 2. It would have been great if it was something different and not a look alike.

“The Open Door” is a genius album! Amazing! I dont know why some people think it is a failure?!?! Amy is the most talented songwriter out there I think right now! The Open Door was a whole new level in songwriting from Fallen! It has so many facets to it. I agree that Ben is a great songwriter and so is Terry! Ev will continue to make amazing music – while this new “band” will continue to try and live off of Evanescence’s fame and music! It is pathetic!

Come on people wake up!! Most of you say that it’s stupid what both sides are doing or did in the past and that is argue, but all you do is argue about others arguments!!!??? The reality is that when Ben & Amy were together they made an awesome cd, and that’s that….when Ben left/got kicked out, a big part of the sound of EV left with him, and you can hear it in THE OPEN DOOR, it’s not the same as THE FALLEN… I’m open to hearing what WE ARE THE FALLEN has to offer, just because, Amy alone put out a more commercial album and I didn’t like it as much as the first one… The fact of the matter is that nor Ben or Amy invented Gothic Rock, they just made it popular and mainstream in the US.. if you really want to experience the true roots of Gothic Metal open your eyes and start looking to Europe.. Bands like Within temptation, Nightwish, Delain, Tarja, The Gathering, Haggard, etc.. these are truly the originals… Not “Evanescence” nor “We are the Fallen” these 2 bands are simply the pop American versions of what Gothic metal really is… Not saying I don’t like them because I do. First of all, I feel Ben Moody is an extremely talented guy. He was an intricate part of ‘Fallen’s worldwide success. After leaving the band, he produced Kelly Clarkson’s album ‘Breakaway’ which if you listen carefully – a couple of the tracks sound a bit like Evanescence yet has Kelly’s own style to it. That album sold more copies than any other album she’s put out to date. Thanks in large part to Ben’s collaboration.

That being said, Amy Lee also had an intricate part of Evanescence’s breakthrough success. Not only co-writing but also composing and singing all the songs on that first album. Her voice is incomparable. I’ve seen them live a few times and in my opinion, she’s proven over the yrs that it doesnt matter who is in the band. Evanescence fans identify her unique voice with the band name… regardless of who’s on the guitar/bass/drums.

“We Are Fallen” should change their name to “We Are Failing” or “Eva-nonsense”. Unfortunately, they had the chance to put something out there thats new and fresh but it seems the former band member’s vengeance against Amy is more of a priority at this time. Maybe I wouldn’t feel the same if Ben had gone a different direction with this new band. If they had a different sound and didn’t have a lead singer who looked and sounded disturbingly similar to Amy Lee. It just comes off as a sad attempt to replace 1 band member that is the core of what is Evanescence.

I leave you with the same roaring chant that was heard at the last Evanescence concert just one week ago…

Amy is the key to their success because of her voice. That’s whya all the chick band as nightwish never have the evanescence’s famous.
And she has too something more. She knows how to write music with soul, deep and meaning !

We are the falen could be a good project without a female singer except with Amy.

I am a really big Evanescence fan, and I think We Are The Fallen is being jerked around too much. Like it seems like Ben Moody started this band and recruited Carly to make his own version of Evanescence since it didnt work out for him before. I almost feel bad for Carly…coming into all this controversy. But as long as they dont talk shit on Evanescence and understand they ARENT Evanescence, everything should be fine. I dont think its that big of a deal anyway since they’ll probably never be anywhere close to as big Evanescence is. I do think Ben is concocking some funny business, though.

Also, Does anyone else see the similarities in the band name “We Are The Fallen.” ???. Evanescence’s first CD (with Ben Moody) was called “Fallen”. Now he’s made up his new band called “We Are The Fallen”.

When Ben Moody left Evanescence I knew that the band would suck and fall apart and it has. All Amy is, is a voice but Ben was the real force behind the music. When Ev’s “The Open Door” came out, I was very disappointed by the new sound. It was nothing like the “Fallen” album. That’s because Ben had nothing to do with it.

I am extremely excited for this new band and hoping that they take off where Evanescence died.

Whatever does ben moody without amy it’s not the same. Ben moody with hanah pestle = sucks. Ben moody with Carly smithson isn’t great.
Ben with Amy : Awesome. Hope the band will one day reunite.

And by the way Evanescence is not dead it’s still on with great music and the cd is coming out in 2010.

And for we are the fallen hope to see john rocky and ben doing fine music but i’m not trill about carly and knowing that something is going to be missing without Amy.

The other thing I don’t like is that we are the fallen are trying to built a success on evanescence. Wtf with the name of their band, doing covers of ev’s songs !? It’s not about music but about money, fame and revenge and I don’t like it.

1.evanescence ended as a band since 2004 ‘post ben’ cause amy was the voice of ev “the best voice ever” but ben was the heart and minde”writing” so when ben was out we sow the shit that amy and terry wrote “the open door”.

I miss the original evanescence band. I want Amy, Ben, Will, John, Rocky and Josh Freese (love is work on the album fallen) back together.

Anyway I’m still happy evanescence is still on with Amy, Terry and Tim.

I’m waiting to hear what’s the fallen have to bring. But unfortunaly I don’t like the voice of their singer. And what’s the f with taking the name of evanescence album and doing covers of evanescence. It’s like their not sure about their new music and wants to build their success on the fame of evanescence. Except they aren’t evanescence anymore !
