Nickelback won big on their home turf at last night’s MuchMusic Video Awards, taking home three prizes at the Canadian music network’s annual ceremony. The Jonas Brothers hosted and pulled double duty as performers, taking the stage for “Burnin’ Up” and “Paranoid.” The Black Eyed Peas delivered a high energy “Boom Boom Pow” and Kelly Clarkson and Rise Against also rocked out onstage, but it was Lady Gaga that had tongues wagging with her “Love Game”/”Poker Face” medley that ended in the recent RS cover star sporting a Madonna-esque cone bra that burst into flames. Gaga also walked away with the International Artist of the Year trophy, while BEP were named International Group of the Year and Jonas Brothers picked up the fan-voted UR Fave International Video award for “Burnin’ Up.” The night ended on a controversial note as Perez Hilton, who appeared at the show, tweeted that he was assaulted by the Peas’ Will.i.am and two security guards.

All you need to know about Canada is that Nickelback is their national band.

Uh, what EXACTLY was so great about that?
Mediocre pop song, mediocre performance. She can’t dance (her dancers are doing all the work). The only good thing about it is she’s actually singing live, which is a different approach than most pop tarts.
And this chick’s supposed to be the next Madonna?
Long way to go for that, baby.

Actually, no. Nicleback is not our national Band. If some redneck from Alberta told you that, you haven’t done your homework!

Canada Proud is right. Simple Plan is Canada’s national band. EVERY radio station you tune into it’s “Simple Plan” this, “Simple Plan” that, it’s so ANNOYING!!! It’s either that or that crappy Hedley, or even worse, BILLY TALENT. God, the only Canadian band to ever come out of there that can go toe-to-toe with their American and British counterparts is Rush. Oh yeah, and Anvil seems decent.
